Sun Ultra 60 not displaying video

I bought an Ultra 60 from a friend as a SPARC machine to play around with. It has a Belkin Sun Adapter (F1D082), and I have the keyboard, VGA, and mouse plugged into that. However when I turn the Ultra 60 on, the fans and hard drives spin up, there is nothing obviously wrong with it... Except I do not get any video.
I have gotten this machine to display video before, but I was not doing anything different. I have no idea why it will not do it again.
I have tried all possible dip switch settings...
Any suggestions?

first question, where did you plug in the keyboard/mouse? not in the frame buffer, right?

this is the service manual... check the jumpers on the motherboard... and that the memory
is in the right slots and the cpu(s) is/are in the right slot(s).
that is a start.

Here are the steps for AirPlay:
Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring
On your iPhone 4S/5 or iPad 2 or 3, double-click the Home  Button to view your recently-used apps.
Swipe all the way to the right to until you see the  icon.
Note: If the icon does not appear, go to the "If AirPlay Mirroring is not visible or available on your mobile iOS device" section.
Tap the  icon to see the list of available AirPlay devices.
Enable AirPlay Mirroring in this menu by tapping on an available Apple TV, then sliding the Mirroring slider to ON.
Now you should be seeing your iPad/iPhone on your TV.
Start up Azul now and using the settings icon on the top right corner go to the option that say "TV out" ON.

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running? Have you updated 13 to 13.1 yet using an opened project's Help Menu/Updates?
    If not, please do so.
You have not given us enough information with which to help you.
What are the properties of your source file that is presenting in the project with audio but no video?
Quickest way to gain that information is from brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video.
    I am looking for
    video compression
    audio compression
    frame size
    frame rate
    interlaced or progressive
    file extension
    pixel aspect ratio
What does the file's thumbnail look like in Project Assets after it is imported....thumbnail with no image (gray), thumbnail with only an audio icon
within it, or other? On the Timeline, what do you see represented in Video 1....nothing as opposed to Audio 1 where you see the audio portion of
    the file?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements 13/13.1? Are you running the programs as
    administrator?
Is your video card/graphics card driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?

  • Source monitor and program monitor boxes will not display video in full only half

I have adobe premiere pro cs6 and source monitor and program monitor boxes will not display video in full only half.  So the top half of both monitors are black and the bottom half is where the video displays.  But you can see that the video is missing the top part.  Like people's heads are cut off and can only see body.  How can i fix this so premiere pro cs6 will use the full monitors boxes to display my video?

This is a known issue with a recent Windows update.

  • Safari will not display video content/flash etc on websites ie youtube etc

I am running Panther 10.3.9 and Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6). When trying to access Youtube, Facebook etc Safari does not display video/animation etc and so Safari closes with an error. It will also not play video content on the Apple website. I would also like to know the following if someone could please help; What is the best software to upgrade to ie Tiger? etc ; What is the maximum memory upgrade for my machine and what would I ask for and best place to buy? Any assistance is much appreciated. Kind regards VJR1OK!!

You may find some improved online performance with Panther 10.3.9 with
the last supported Flash and Shockwave players installed (older ones have
to be uninstalled) and though the use of Camino browser since it is up-to-date.
There still will be some limitations; but if you have the correct Flash/Shockwave
players for Panther installed and get Camino, and use it as a default replacement
for that ancient Safari, that would make a difference. Also, it always makes sense
to get more RAM in an older computer since they usually shipped with very little.
In the case of older computers, often the capacity of the hard disk drive was also
a matter of marginalization. A large enough drive to have plenty of free space in
it, after applications and the OS X is installed, so the system can have room for
temporary files and Virtual Memory, then it can run the last supported OS X ok.
An externally enclosed bootable hard drive (FireWire enclosed unit) could be
used to add space or a second system for use when at a desktop, so for the
sake of discussion, the internal drive would not necessarily need replaced to
check out a different operating system that may need more room in a drive.
RAM is an easy fix; and a new browser from Camino.org - plus those players.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Bridge CC not displaying video files

Bridge CC not displaying video files - I just installed the new Bridge CC and I am unable to view and play my video files.  The files are Quicktime files.  The title of the file is displayed with a QT logo, yet no video is registered.  Has any one else has had this issue or has any advice?

This is still not working for me as I've opened another question regarding this here: .mov thumbnails not showing up for Bridge CC on Mac OS X 10.10.2?
I can view my Quicktime .mov thumbnails in Bridge CS6 but not CC. I have all the latest Adobe CC and Mac OS X 10.10.2 and QT 10.4 updates. I've removed the media cache folder and purged my cache - every possible fix I've seen on the internets and still, no thumbnails for .mov files in Bridge CC. I've toggled the "Generate Monitor-Size Previews" and "Keep 100% Previews" to no avail. I'm working on an important video project for a client and this is the first video assignment I've worked on with CC and so far, it's not working out well.

  • Apple tv does not display video from my iphone

My iphone 5 will not display video content on my apple tv, but the audio is working.  It works intermittently with mirroring turned on, but I've never had to do that before as I connect to my apple tv via wifi.  The audio plays and displays a little icon in the lower left corner of the apple tv screen with the iTunes icon and indicates I have internet radio playing.  This has never happened before.  I tried the same video from my iPad and it worked fine without activating the mirroring function.  All applications are up-to-date.  How do I fix this?

Here are the steps for AirPlay:
Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring

  • Premier Pro CS6 not displaying Video

Premier Pro CS6 is not displaying video.  Loads and plays clips with sound and all monitors work but no video displayed, installs them in timeline, exports - just does not display video in program or preview monitors nor will it scrub in the thumbnails (static images only). Just started all of a sudden for no apparent reason.  All valid file types, even previous projects that worked fine before display no video now.

If you are on Windows it HAS been known to happen that a Windows Update will cause a video driver to have problems (more information when you ask a question is a good thing http://forums.adobe.com/message/4200840 so people will be able to help)
It is "more usual" to need a video driver update, so good to know that a simple un/reinstall worked for you

  • Firefox will not display videos since Yosemite migration

    Good day!
I run an early 2011 15" MacBook Pro, 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 4g 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory, and an Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 384 Mo. Firefox is 34.0.5.
Since I migrated to Yosemite (10.10.1), the browser I use (Firefox) will not display the videos, but plays the sound out of them...
I tried to clear the PRAM (NVRAM) with the Command (⌘), Option, P, and R, but it doesn't work. I even tried to shut down the graphic acceleration option in Firefox, to no avail...
What else should I do? Any solution out there?
Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you all!

  • 2 Week old 17 MBP not displaying video

    Hello,
I am a tech support guy, and web developer, at a higher ed University. Anyway, I just recently got a new MacBook Pro about 1.5 weeks ago. It was a 17 inch MacBook Pro, 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB drive.
Yesterday, for no reason it would not display any video. I could use ctrl+command power and hear the HD making noise but the video would not display. Every 10 minutes or so I would see a flicker and see my desktop picture for a half second. I did research on the apple support area and I ended up reinstalling the OS thinking it was a software issue... something about high CPU usage being the problem. I doubted that was the problem, but I took the hour to reinstall from the 2 DVDs. It worked during the boot from the CD, so I thought that maybe it was the software thing. After doing updates I tested it and it worked, I put it to sleep and put it away. I pulled it out tonight and it worked for an hour then I downloaded one of my old excel files from online and as I clicked on the excel file my screen, as best I can describe started to look like it was dithering... then it faded to black. It did the flickering for a few minutes, then just black... yet again, no video. I could restart and restart and try everything and all I would see is a flicker and a flash of video every few minutes.
At this point, what do I do? It was not even two weeks old and I do have AppleCare. I installed Parallels and VirtuaDesktops, Office and Adobe CS3 and pretty much everything else was normal software. None of that was running or open when all of this happened, besides maybe Office starting to launch.
I hate to send it back if it is just a software issue but I can't keep reinstalling the OS.

I will try. However, I am now seeing no video... not even after I reboot it and hear a chime and the hard drive spin... nothing. The screen is black but doesn't appear to be all of the way black. It is black but not the same as when the computer is off, there is a hint of a little light at the bottom of the display.
I wouldn't think that VirtuaDesktops would effect the computer that early in the restart, but I will try.
I deal with hundreds of Macs here at work and this is the first time I have seen something that has caused so much problems out of the gate.

Did you connect 12V CPU power?
Also the screen should be connected to your videocard, not to the onboard video as that's turned off because you inserted a videocard.
I tried both onboard and videocard connections. No difference.

Does the system pass POST at all? (ie does it give any beeps?)
Did it ever work with the new board?
Have you connected both the 24pin AND the 4pin power connectors to the board?
Have you connected your monitor to the 465GTX card? What about if you remove that card and connect monitor to the onboard?
It does not give any beeps.
    I have both 24PIN and 4PIN connected.
I tried removing the 465GTX card and using the onboard. No difference.

From a mATX... Hm, you should have had a look at the number of stand-offs/distanser/spacers. They stand a cm tall between the mobo and case, for the screwing.  If there is one too many and in the wrong place there is an immediate risk of a short.
I believe there are six, but I will check that out.
EDIT: Just to let you guys know, I found out that the problem was a poorly seated CPU and heatsink. Thanks anyway for the support.

  • Preview window not displaying video

As of yesterday when I was in the middle of a project, the preview window simply stopped displaying all video being played off the timeline. It previews the videos in the top left window just fine though. I restarted the program and it still did not fix the problem.
However it seems to be acting strangely in that at random times the video will show up, but then dissappear again once it passes an edit point. I also tried dropping a new clip in the timeline, which caused every thing to work again. Then 10 seconds later the preview disabled not allowing me to see anything. Whether I play it or keep it paused at a point, nothing shows up.
I have been editing this same project for a couple of weeks with no problems. I know it has nothing to do with the media. Running off the latest update and latest OS software.

Actually I just took out one of the clips, which seemed to be causing the problem. No idea why that is since its the same format as the others.
I forgot to mention another unrelated problem going on. Sometimes during playback the audio will revert to a loud buzzing sound at random points in the timeline. Its at a different point every time. Sometimes happens 5 times in a row. Other times every thing will be fine for a few hours.
I trashed the prefs, repaired permissions and rebooted.
Edit: forgot to mention the audio levels are well below red line

  • QuickTime 7 not displaying video in 16.9 Anamorphic

I'm sure other users have discovered this frustrating problem with QT 7 and if anyone can point me to a solution I would be very grateful.
After exporting my edited Final Cut Pro movies (Which are displayed correctly in 16.9 widescreen) through QuickTime conversion all my films are displayed in squared 4.3 with ugly letter boxing left and right of frame.
Can someone tell me why QT 7 does not play a movie in it's correct and intended viewing ratio and if there is a magic trick to diplay my movies properly please?
I am willing to upgrade to QuickTime Pro if this is the only solution available!!!!
Happy New Year to you all.
    P.S. I'm using the following:
Sony HDV Z1 Camcorder (True widescreen 16.9) Squeeze mode
Final Cut Studio with Final Cut Pro HD 4.5
    QuickTime Version 7.6.4

QT 7 utilizes the "Current Size" attribute to display a file in its proper aspect. Thus, if you want an anamorphic file to display properly in both QT 7 and QT X, you must ensure the file is embedded with both the anamorphic flag/values (for iMovie '08, '09, '11, QT X, etc.) and the "Current Size" value (for QT 7, iTunes, GarageBand, etc.)
I am willing to upgrade to QuickTime Pro if this is the only solution available!!!!
QT 7 Pro would be the easiest way to re-scale the file for proper display in the QT 7 Player (and all other players that utilize the "Current Size" setting). Otherwise, the normal way to correct the problem would be to re-compress the the video. (Note that the reverse is not true. QT 7 Pro will not embed an anamorphic flag/value to make an improperly displayed file in QT X display properly.)
After exporting my edited Final Cut Pro movies (Which are displayed correctly in 16.9 widescreen) through QuickTime conversion all my films are displayed in squared 4.3 with ugly letter boxing left and right of frame.
Since you do not provide any specific import-export information, I suspect you are editing in an anamorphic compression format that loses the embedded flag/value during export. When this happens, the file is assumed to be in a 4:3 aspect and the "Current Size" attribute is automatically set for 4:3 display dimensions.

  • Safari does not display videos anymore!

I cannot watch videos from most websites, including youtube. Why?
This was working fine on my previous laptop under snow leopard. Any first price PC is able to play videos straight out of the box but the high end super expensive Apple laptop cannot. What a joke! This is so frustrating.
