Sun Ultra 60 - Problems to install patch 119850-21

Hi,
I'm running Solaris 10 on my Ultra 60. I've been using for many months - without any problems - Sun Update Manager in order to keep the system updated. Lately it always tells me that patch 119850-21 is available, but when it tries to install it fails. I also tried to download and install that patch manually in single mode with patchadd, and also tried smpatch. Both of them fail to install this patch, reporting problems in checkinstall, saying that the patch is already installed - which is not true according to 'patchadd -p'.
Thanks for any input on this issue.

Of course. Here you have it:

  • Problem with installing patch SP1b

    Hello All,
I have a development server running on XP pro with live cycle 8.0.1.  I 'm facing a problem while installing patch SP1b to that server.  I have attached the log file.
    My problem is
I copied a process' .lca file from a server running on windows server 2003 with patch installed and deployed on the development server.  Now in my development XP box, workspace is opening but when i tried to open the process, before rendering the pdf form it is giving "An error occurred during the operation (endpoint id 401). (ALC-WKS-007-027)" error.  I have even crosschecked the input xfaform variable also; every thing is perfect. The details are as below:

Will that patch version could be the problem?  What could be the problem and what is the solution?
    Thanks

  • Problems after installing patch 108993-18 (ldap2 for solaris 8)

Ive been struggling to get SSL to work in a solaris 8 as a client (pam_ldap)
I tried to use padl.coms pam_ldap, but for some reason i couldnt get it to work (always get a segmentation fault error). Yes, I can use ldapsearch on the server with SSL.
But then i heard that Sun had released this new patch that would do what I wanted >> to connect solaris 8 as a ssl-enabled client. (108993-18)
I checked if I had all the requisited patches, installed the patch and rebooted.
The good news is that i had no problem during the installation proccess. The bad news is that I cant start the machine properly now! :( It just starts, then freezes and it stands there, before loading CDE.
from what I found, the problem seems to be coming from /var/ldap/ldap_client_file. Has the format of this file been altered in some way? I checked the readme but couldnt find anything about it.
    thanks for the patience...

    force reloaded patch 109327-07
    http://access1.sun.com/patch.public/patches/all/patch.readme/README.109327-07
it seemed to have the most to do with the resolver libraries, it installed successfully and I rebooted, no change..

  • [content portlet suite] - problem to install patch

    Hi all,
I've installed CPS with CIS for Oracle Portal 10.1.2 upgraded at 10.1.4.0.0 on Unbrakeable Linux .
CPS Contribution Portlet use WSRP v1 and so have a upload file size limit to 65k.
This is a kwown issue and Oracle Metalink suggest to iinstall two patch 4640471 first,
    and then 5752494.
The first installation was completed succesfully.
But when I try to install the second I obtain a warning first:
Patch(es) 4640471,  conflict with the patch currently being installed (5752494).
If you continue, patch(es) 4640471,  will be rolled back and the
new patch (5752494) will be installed.
When I try to continue opatch return an error on compatibility between the patch(5752494) version
and the host operative system, althought the patch download is single and for "generic platform"
with a title "for linux 32" (and my host OS is Linux 32 bit).
Have you got any suggestion about work around this limitation on upload file size or patch installing?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Error in installing patch 9.0.1.4. "Exception in Thread "main"

    Hi to all....
Want to ask a problem regarding installing patch Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4.
Previously, i got problems in installing other patch. The solution i got is to install the below patch.
They suggested that i have to install Patch 3038037.
and when I read the ReadMe of Patch 3038037, it stated
    2 Preinstallation Requirements
The following list is the preinstallation requirements for this patch set:
Ensure that Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4 is applied to database instances
before applying the Oracle9iAS version 9.0.2.3 patch to infrastructure
    instances.
So, in this case, i have to install "Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4" first
before i can install "Patch 3038037"
So, currently, i am trying to install the Oracle database patch 9.0.1.4...got error that are
    1) Tried to run runInstaller in Disk1
    ./runInstaller: Command not found
2)The runInstaller in Disk1 actually will run runInstaller in folder "Disk1/install/solaris"..
but when i run it, it gaves me
"Exception in Thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:/ "
    Have any ideas or experience?
    Regards,
    Rushdan.

try execute: export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 before you run ./runInstaller
Btw try look at http://www.puschitz.com for installation guide.

  • Hard disk problem after installing Solaris 10 u5 on a Sun Ultra 24

    Hi.
After receiving a new Sun Ultra 24, shipped with Solaris 10 u4, the first thing I did was installing Solaris 10 u5. X wouldn't start but that was not a big problem and installed it in text mode. Installation went fine but, when the system starts, a single beep is heard and after some seconds some warning message appear on the console, before the "Hostname: ..." message, informing that some read operation on my hard disk had timed out and were aborted. The system then starts up normally. The only other anomaly is that the diagnostic partition in unbootable.
I ran the hard disk tests from the tools and drivers CDs and all of the tests were passed. Solaris 10 u4 was working normally so I'm wondering if this may be a bug.
    Thanks for your help,
    Enrico.

Thanks anyway, I discovered what the problem was: a bug in Solaris 10 u5:

  • Problem in installing Ultra Search

    Hi all,
We are facing problem while installing Ultra Search for Oracle 9i in Sun Solaris server. The Ultra Search documentation says that the middle tier component includes the following :
    1. Ultra Search admininstration tool
    2. Ultra Search Java query API
    3. Ultra Search Java server page sample query qpplication
But we are unable to see it either in the Oracle Universal Installer's list of installed components or in the database server's file system. The documentation says that for deploying the Ultra Search Administration Tool on a Third Party Middle Tier, the ear file :
    $ORACLE_HOME/ultrasearch/webapp/ultrasearch_admin.ear
should be present. But we cannot find the directory "webapp" at that location.
Does the ear file already get extracted during installation ?
Are the three components listed above shown in the Oracle Universal Installer's list ?
Where can we get the ear file for installation on a Third Party Application Server (iPlanet Server) ?
Can anyone outline the Installation process for Ultra Search ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I assume you are installing Oracle 9iR2.
It seems OUI did not install most of the Ultra Search files. Can you check in your
    oraInventory/Components directory for oracle.isearch.*?
    You should see
    oracle.isearch.client
    oracle.isearch.is_common
    oracle.isearch.server
If not, these components have not been installed. Please check your installation procedure
to make sure the following are checked:
    Oracle Ultra Search Middle-Tier
    Oracle Ultra Search Common Files
    Oracle Ultra Search Server
follow up with me if you still have problems.

  • Sun Ultra 24 - BIOS Update problem

I have a Sun Ultra 24 where I attempted to update the BIOS to v1.5 using the Sun Tools CD v1.3. After successful install and validation of the BIOS, I am at a POST screen where I have the option to press F1 to load default values or F2 to run setup.
The problem is that my USB keyboards are not being recognized. I have tried all USB ports and two different USB keyboards. The system gives a beep, recognizing that the keyboards are being plugged in and out, and the Caps lock LED is lit for just a second, but after that it is not recognized.
The internal LED BIOS POST code is showing "85", indicating (from the Sun manual): 1. USB final initialization. 2. Switch screen back to text mode.
I have also attempted to remove and replace the BIOS battery.
Any other thoughts as to how I can recover my BIOS or get the system to recognize a USB keyboard? I do not have any PS2 ports on this system.
    Thanks for any assistance.

I posted too soon, I was able to find another way to update the BIOS, and this worked. For some reason, my keyboard would not work earlier to enter the BIOS settings, but I was able to use Ctrl+Home to update the BIOS from my USB flash drive.
Here are the instructions from the Sun 820-2480-11 document:
Corrupted BIOS: System Does Not Perform POST
An interrupted or failed BIOS update, might result in a corrupted BIOS, which could
cause the system to fail POST and not boot. To resolve this, perform the following
    BIOS recovery procedure:
    1. Copy the file /BIOS/BIOSxxx.ROM from the Tools and Drivers DVD to the
root directory of a USB flash drive.
    2. On the flash drive, rename the file BIOSxxx.ROM to AMIBOOT.ROM.
    3. Insert USB flash drive into an available USB port on the workstation.
    4. Power on the workstation, press and hold the Ctrl + Home keys, and watch the
    USB flash drive’s access light.
    5. When the flash drive’s access light starts to blink, release the keys.
    6. Follow the onscreen instructions to recover system BIOS.
This procedure will be added to the Sun Ultra 24 Workstation Service Manual.

  • Problems in installing msi k9n6gm-v drivers in sun solaris

I have problems in installing drivers of my msi motherboard. Please help me. Also im new in using sun solaris. I dont know how to run executable and .ini files format which is windows compatible.

You are new to the forum, so some advice:
Do not post the same question to multiple forums.
Pick one and place it there.
You will get a response or you will not get a response.
Cross-posting will not get any answer, any faster, and it is considered bad forum manners.
ini and exe files are for Microsoft's OS.
    They don't work in *NIX.
Your motherboard drivers are for Windows and cannot be used for Solaris.

  • Unable to install Solaris Sparc 10 on SUN Ultra 10

Downloaded ISO of SPARC 10 DVD from Oracle site, burnt it and tried to install on SUN Ultra 10 (300 MGz / 256 MB RAM / 80 GB IDE HDD)
Followed the process as specified below:
    1. Stop+A to stop the current boot process.(Already SPARC 8 is installed)
    2. AT OK prompt typed boot cdrom
    3. After some time (3-5 min) prompting error
*"boot device: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/cdrom@2,0:f  File and args:*_
    Panic - Kernel : kmem64 allocation failure+_
    Program Terminated+_
    ok "+_
Checked in few blogs and burnt another DVD with less writing speed, still same error.
Checked with Sparc 8 CD's, Sparc 5.8 installing without any errors.

... (300 MGz / 256 MB RAM / ) ...I suggest you forget about trying Solaris 10 on a system with such limited resources.
If I recall correctly, Solaris 10 needs a minimum of 768MB of RAM to install and 1GB or more of RAM to run, even if you had a cpu that was fast enough to run anything.
    Perhaps consider it this way:
Would you even dream of trying to install MS Windows 7 on a Pentium-I at 300MHz?
Stay with your Solaris 8. It's from the same late 1990's era as that hardware and fits it just right.
