Sun WebServer 6.1 SP4 Connection Pool Please Help

Hi All,
I really need your help, we are using Sun One Web server 6.1 SP4 with oracle 8i, recently we implemented servers connection pool, but now after 2-3 hrs our web server is hanging and not responding to any request. Earlier I had max pool size 32 and I have increased it to 128 but still the same problem.
Before Implementing server connection pool we were using custom connection pool and the problem we had with that, we did not had any of validating the connection before giving to user and due to that it use to create problems.
I am lost and looking for some solutions please.
Thanks
Rajeev

This is the code which we use for geting connection and closing connection.
import javax.sql.*;
import java.sql.*; //Connection class
import javax.naming.*; //InitialContext
public class ABCConnectionPool
     //public static synchronized Connection getConnection()
     public static Connection getConnection()
               Connection connection = null;
          try{
                    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
                    String dsName = "java:comp/env/jdbc/jdbc-sss";
                    DataSource ds = (javax.sql.DataSource)ctx.lookup(dsName);
     connection = ds.getConnection();
                    return connection;
               catch(Exception e)
                    e.printStackTrace();
               return connection;
               //return null;
     public static void releaseConnection(Connection usedConnection)
          try
                    usedConnection.close();
          catch(Exception e)
               e.printStackTrace();
     }//releaseConnection()
}//class
Where ever we need a coonection we call getConnection() method of above class and whenever we are done we call releaseConnection() method of this class. I really don't know in sun web server 6.1, what do I need to do to return the connection to pool?
Another question I have is do we need to make getConnection() method synchronized?
Thanks again for your help.

  • JSP Connection Pooling Please Help

    Hi,
    I have a bean that I want to use for connection pooling with my JSP's. Its constructor creates the pool of connections and I have a getConnection method which retrieves available ones.
    My problem is that I create a new instance of the bean on each jsp page I am using. So that means when I go to my next web page and want to grab a connection I recreate an instance of the bean and therefore am creating another pool all over again.
    How do I get around this. When I first create an instance of the bean from a .jsp should I make the scope of that bean equal session. That way will I be able to use the same instance throughout the whole site.
    Please help
    Thanks
    Natasha

    Hi,
    <jsp:useBean> first tries to locate in the scope specified for the bean.If it doesn't find any, then it will instantiates the bean.
    Set the beans scope as "application" which means the same bean is available throughout the application.
    Hope this helps.

    when i configure the connection pool i used " oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionPoolDataSource "

  • I need help with socket connection pooling please

    I need a basic connection pooling system for the code below users sets number connections 5 etc.
    <main class>
    s = new ListService(ssock.accept(),serverDir); //give list to client
    Thread t = new Thread(s);
    t.start();
    <main class>
    class ListService implements Runnable
    Socket client;
    String serverDir;
    public ListService(Socket client,String serverDir)
    this.client = client;
    this.serverDir = serverDir;
    public void run()
    try
    BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(client.getOutputStream()));
    // send something to client
    catch(Exception e)
    System.out.println(e);
    System.out.println("client disconnected\n");
    catch(Exception e){}
    Thank you so much

    My code already accepts multi clients I need pooling only 5 clients can be using the server at a time when one client disconnects that means another incoming client can enter the pool to use the server.
    I tried to do a counter so when a connection is made it increments and then if counter>=numOfClients
    set a variable to true or false and this is sent with the server setup so it determines if the server code is run or it just closes the connection but there is no way I can access the counter variable from within a runnable class thread when a client closes connection it should -1 from the variable
    thanks

  • HELP - DB2 v9 & App Server PE 9.0 - PING Connection Pool Failure - HELP

    I've been playing around with Studio Creator and DB2 v9 without any issues.
    So I figured I would installed App Server PE 9 and use this as my production server that I would deploy to from studio creator.
    However, in my efforts to set up db2/v9 I have been trying to ping a connection pool without any luck. I get the following message:
    Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean. Target exception message: Connection could not be allocated because: [sunm][DB2 JDBC Driver]Resource Limits Reached( ALLOCATE MEMORY FOR NEW SQLSTT FAILED ). Diagnostic Info: FUNCTION ID = 0049 , PROBE POINT = 0400 , TRACE POINT = 0030 , SUBCODE1 = 8B0F0000, SUBCODE2 = 78A68A98, SUBCODE3 = 00000000, ERROR MSG = Parser: Memory allocation error.
    My datasource class name is com.sun.sql.jdbcx.db2.DB2DataSource.
    And my resource type is javax.sql.datasource
    I have copied smbase.jar, smdb2.jar and smutil.jar into c:\sun\appserver\lib
    and I have all of the properties (serverName, portNumber, databaseName, user, password) created and set accordingly.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Here is how I got the DB2 Express-C and Sun PE 9.0 to work. ( at least base connectivity wise )
    1. ) You have to have at least the DB2 Client installed on the system that will be communicating to the DB2 instance.
    2.) The following jars will be needed ( depending on the driver type used) . db2java.zip, db2jcc.jar, and db2jcc_license_cu.jar and use them in the App Server ->JVM settings -> Path Settings -> Classpath Suffix
    3.) The next setup is dependent on the Type driver you use
    I used the Type 4 and this is the resource setup I used.
    Connection Pool:
    Name: DB2TestPool
    Datasource Classname: com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2SimpleDataSource
    Resource Type: javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource
    Properties:
    user: xxxxxx
    password: xxxxxx
    databaseName: TEST
    serverName: <hostname of machine>
    portnumber: 50000
    driverType: 4
    URL: jdbc:db2://<hostname>:<port>/<database>
    JDBC Resource:
    JNDI Name: jdbc/TEST
    Pool Name: DB2TestPool
    With this configuration I was able to ping the database as well as connect to create an entity bean from a table. This should give you a starting point.
    I have yet to deploy my application, but should be doing that sometime today to verify that a connection can be made and used from within the application.

  • Look for a good connection pooler ! HELP !

    Hello everybody,
    My web application uses a connection pooler that i got from the site www.bitmechanic.com
    but it doesn't work well.
    I chosed this tool because it was for free.
    I tryed other free connection poolers such us PoolMan with the same results.
    Please could you advise me a very good free connection pooler to use ?
    I asked in other newsgroup but i didn't get an answer !
    Cheers.

    Stefano,
    You may be better off by spending a little bit of money to get some
    real driver like Connect JDBC Drivers from DataDirect Technologies
    (www.datadirect-technologies.com). You get lot of functionality and
    exceptional support. In the end you would save lot more in reduced
    development time/costs.

  • Weblogic8.1 and mysql connection failure, please help

    Pardon me for repeating this topic. I have spent 2 days on this but still ended
    up with failure.
    The similar configuration works very well under wls7.0.
    It should not be a problem of jdbc driver or its classpath setting, since the
    system console say "successful..."
    But when I try to access jsp and servlets, it always throws execeptions. All projects
    run successfully under wls7.0 don't work.
    Please give me some advice, thanks in advance.

    1. This assumes that you have downloaded the mysql database and configured it and started
    it by running mysqld. In my case, I installed it in d:/mysql.
    2. It also assumes that you have configured a user on the database.
    I configured a user "test" with password "test" on the database "mysql" on "localhost" using
    mysql --user=root mysql
    grant all privileges on *.* to test@localhost identified by 'test' with grant option;
    3. It assumes that you have downloaded the Connector/J zip file and pulled out the jar file.
    In my case, I renamed it and copied it to d:/mysql/lib/jdbc.jar.
    4. It is absolutely necessary that you put the jar file in your server classpath. It won't
    work without doing that. Then I booted the server.
    5. I used the WLS 8.1 console to configure the connection pool and associated data source.
    In my case, they look like the following:
    <JDBCConnectionPool DriverName="org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"
    Name="mysql" Password="test"
    Properties="user=test"
    Targets="myserver"
    TestTableName="SQL SELECT 1"
    URL="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/mysql"/>
    <JDBCTxDataSource
    JNDIName="myDataSource"
    Name="myDataSource"
    PoolName="mysql"
    Targets="myserver"/>
    Note that the console uses the old class name for the driver. There is a new class name but
    the old name still exists and we figured it would cover folks using the old and new classes.
    6. I'll attach a client program that looks up the datasource associated with the connection pool,
    gets a connection, and does some stuff with the connection.
    The user/password combination must have security priviledges in WLS to reserve a connection
    on the pool.
    The code for this program is taken almost entirely from the WLS JDBC documentation.
    This is all pretty standard stuff.

  • Network connection problems, please help!

    I have had an iPod Touch (4th generation) for over a year now and it worked fine. Today, something went wrong with my network connection. One moment it says that I'm connected to a network, and a few seconds later it says I'm not connected... Then a few seconds later it's connected again. I have full wifi bars, and it does it throughout my whole house. The wifi symbol keeps going on and off. I tried turning my Verizon Westell Model 6100G Modem off and back on because this normally fixes my wifi connection problems. This didn't work. Then I tried turning my iPod off and back on. This didn't work. I tried turning the wifi off and back on. This didn't work. I tried forgetting my network and signing back in. This didn't work. I also tried resetting the network, and this didn't work either. I'm not having any connection problems with my laptop, it's working fine. It's only my iPod. I'm still able to use the wifi, but for a split second, it will not work. I'm not sure what else to do. It's very annoying! I'm going to see if it does this at other peoples houses with their wifi. Can any one tell me what's wrong and how I should fix it? My only theory is a broken antenna...Please help! Thanks!

    I have two things you could try.
    1. Plug your iPod into the host computer that which the network is based around because sometimes the network has trouble identifying a device if it has been a while since you plugged it into the computer.
    2. Find some way to get your network information (IP address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS numbers) from another device on the network (e.g. laptop). Then go to Settings > Wi-FI and find your router and tap the blue arrow to the right of the name and tap the tab that says "Static" and enter this information accordingly. Then exit back to the network names menu and re-enter your passcode for your network (assuming you have a passcode)

  • New Infinity connect issues - please help

    We are having ongoing issues with getting BT infinity installed to our new house.  I really need someone that can actually help us find out what is wrong and how we can resolve the issues we are having.
    It all started a few months ago when we ordered BT infinity and a new phone line to our new Chapel conversion house.
    Initially there were some issues with the engineer being unable to get the phone line to the house. After numerous phone calls and several engineers visits, we these have now been resolved and we do have a working telephone.
    The problem seems to be with the Infinity. Nobody can give me an answer as to why we have not yet got a connection.
    When the phone engineer visited he said that he would try and connect the Infinity in the green box. – When he went to do this he tried to obtain our patching information and was informed that there was no live order for infinity on our number… As there was nothing more he could do he left.
    We then checked with BT and they confirmed that we do have an order for infinity and that there was a problem that needed and engineer to look at. (We have a box and are paying for the service already…
    We were told last week that an engineer was going to attend on Monday 13th Jan and that we definitely would have a connection by last Monday at the latest… - no engineer attended despite my wife spending her 3rd day in the house waiting for an engineer!
    She phone BT on Tuesday and was told that there was a problem and she would be contacted by Thursday Morning at the latest. – Needless to say , No phone call!!
    We really need to sort this connection out.  Is there anyone who can take this and run with it until it’s sorted? – We are getting nowhere talking to random individuals who have no real history of our connection history.
    Please Help!
    Doug

  • Firefox won't establish a connection. Please help

    Hello,
    My Mozilla Firefox has worked for ages and all of a sudden when my father tried to open it, it came up with a message saying:
    'Unable to connect
    Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.ebay.com.au.
    The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
    If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
    If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
    that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.'
    I have checked all the settings and everything looks right, my internet is connected fine, other apps using the internet works fine, I have checked the fire wall and I have tried to troubleshoot problems. Nothing seems to be working it just keeps saying the same thing. I don't know what else to do, can someone please help me? I need to get it working before tomorrow because my father uses it and he knows how to use it and where everything is. Please, please help.
    Thank-you heaps!
    Zoe

    UAC is turned off ?

    thanks

  • Ipod error message when connected. Please help

    Windows XP
    I have had my 30 gigabyte ipod for almost a year and i've never had any problems with it before. But recently our area wasn't able to get broadband. So i was unable to download the recent ipod and itunes updates. I have done that now.. but i think something has affected my ipod. When i plug it into my computer nothing comes up on my ipod screen and i can continue browsing music etc.. i know this isn't supposed to happen. And on my computer an error message comes up saying "USB device not recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it. "
    Please help me!

    Okay. So i'll tell you the steps i have taken. I've uninstalled all the ipod updaters i had on my computer, eg 2006 and 2005.. and i reinstalled the latest version of itunes. I also went to device manager and all that but it only came up in the list at "unknown device" and i uninstalled the driver and tried to reinstall it but it came up saying it was an unknown device again. I tried right clicking on it and going "scan for hardware updates" but it told me the one i have installed is the nearest match. I also tried connecting my ipod to my computer in disc mode which did nothing. But i have discovered my ipod charges when i plug it in.. but the computer freezes on the black dos screen (as it always has for me when i turn the computer on with the ipod plugged in) and the ipod remains charging. but it seems if i plug it in after windows has loaded it's not even recognised.
    I'm sorry for making it so long but i really really need help
