It looks like we need the error messages before the first one posted. You could try looking the directory /var/opt/SUNWcluster/ at the file scadmin.log and ccd/ccd.log.
So why was this machine out of the cluster? Was there any configuration changes made to the cluster with this node out of the cluster? If so the ccd could be out of date on this machine and need resyncing.

  • Firefox fails to startup, with no error message whatsoever, after installing the Fireftp add-on.

Firefox fails to startup on OS X 10.6.4, after I install the FireFTP plugin. There's no crash message or anything, just a bouncing icon on the dock and then nothing happens. Creating a new profile solves the issue until i install FireFTP, which again produces the same effect.

    Hi Anselmo_MSW!
It looks as though you have followed the correct steps and no, you do not need to lift up both levers at the same time.
The error code 5100 indicates that an internal error has occurred which may be resolved by resetting the printer.  Please follow these steps for isolating and resetting the printer:
    1.  Open the printer's front cover, and then open and close the print head lock lever (do not remove the print head).
    2.  Make sure all ink tanks are seated properly.
    3.  Make sure all packing materials have been removed.
    4.  Make sure no paper is jammed in the printer.
    5.  Disconnect the printer cable from the printer.
    6.  Close the front cover and turn the printer off.
    7.  Unplug the printer from the power source, and then plug it back in after five minutes.
    8.  Power on the printer.
If the error returns, the printer will require service options.  I realize you have just purchased this and wanted to let you know that this is not the normal operation of our printers.  What I would recommend is contacting a Canon Representative using the following link to learn of your service options.  Contact Us.

  • One Daemon fails on startup, but I don't know which one

    Hi!
During startup I see the message, that one of the daemons fails on startup, but my eyes are too slow to see which one it is
I don't have any troubles and everything works fine but I want to know what's going wrong on startup. I know there are log files in /var/log but I can't find the information I looking for.
These daemons I have in my rc.conf:
syslog-ng network netfs crond cups hal !fam alsa acpid slim mpd
So, not that much, but I don't get it (I don't know about the fam-daemon, I think I don't need it, do I?)
    Thanks
    Barghest

Thanks for your suggestion, but that didn't work.
But I just used sudo reboot after login and had a chance to see that it is the acpid daemon that fails.
I'm a bit confused, because it works fine (I can shutdown by pressing the power button) and in /var/log/acpid.log I can't find an error message.
So, is it a good idea to start it in the background?

I have a slow startup or login, with numerious spinning wheels. Sometimes after a long ti,e I can sign into the computer and sometimes it just fails to startup or login. I have a MacBookPro OS X 10.7.5 from 2011. It became more serious recently as I think I might have let my battery run out I also tried to download the operating system to reinstall it but it allways stops around 1.4 GB out of 1.7 then the whell starts again.

Keep the MBP attached to the power adapter.
First try SMC and PRAM resets:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
Then try to boot the MBP in recovery (OPTION key down) and select the recover partition.  Select Disk Utility>First Aid and verify and repair the HDD.
Additional steps can be found here:

    Ciao.

    message in the event viewer:
    Process manager failed on startup.
I tried to start is manually but it dows not respond at all.
    What can I do?
    Thanks

IIRC, Internet Connect is a Tiger and earlier app which is now rolled into Network for Leopard and Snow Leopard. I can't help with the DSL issues since I dropped that over four years ago and have been on cable ever since.

I installed the J2EE SDK 1.3 linux version on my mac. J2EE application server starts up fine, but the deploytool keeps failing on startup. I am getting the following error:

  • Palm Desktop Fails at startup wiht AppName: palm.exe AppVer: 4.1.4.0 ModName: mfc.dll

Folks, Wifes phone appears to have something wrong with the address book. When she syncs to the palm desk top we get the following error at palm desktop startup : Palm Desktop Fails at startup wiht AppName: palm.exe AppVer: 4.1.4.0 ModName: mfc.dll .
If i remove the address folder the desktop works until we sync again. Help!
Tony (fixer of wife phone problems.)
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Sprint)

There may be database corruption causing the issue. Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
Remove the address folder like you did so you can start up palm desktop. Sync DBfixit to the phone using quick install. Scan for db corruption on the device and Blobs in the calendar. After that is done, sync the Treo to the PC with the conduits set at handheld overwrites desktop. This will create a new "clean" address book on the PC and this should allow Palm desktop to open correctly.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.

what shall i do my iphone showing activation failed during startup?

    Hi funkeyankey,
It sounds like your phone is not activating correctly when you are trying to set it up. I would recommend the troubleshooting from the following article named:
    Get help activating your iPhone
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3424
Check the system status for iOS Device Activation. If the iOS Device Activation status isn't green, try activating your iPhone later.
    Restart the iPhone.
Try to reach the activation server another way, then try to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you can't activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you can't activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you try to activate your iPhone, place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you still can't complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.
If you're asked to enter a password to proceed with activating the iPhone, Activation Lock might be enabled as part of Find my iPhone.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • UCM Server libraries and application failed during startup

When i am going to start UCM_Server managed server (a instance of UCM) from Administrative Console, server started but application startup failed. Similarly, when i start this server using startManagedWebLogic startup script, server as well as applications started without any error. When i see log, I found following errors:-

Its look that libraries are not in class path when i start from the administrative console. What do you suggest? and How we can solve this problem?
    Regards,
    Imran

Solution: Node manager issue, Node manager incorrectly configured,
    run
    $ ...oracle_common/common/bin/setNMProps.sh
Then run the node manager start script.
Other configuration may also be necessary:
append | *.*.*.* to the incoming socket c.a.s.f for UCM in the em configuration web app ( http://IP:7001/em).
Edit: above should red | star.star.star.star where star="*"

I have been using zfs for a couple of days now.
It's only for storage purposes, not for root system.
I installed it, and enabled zfs.target for startup, but since a couple of reboots ago, I noticed zfs-import-cache.service fails resulting in sometimes, the pool not getting mounted.
    ● zfs-import-cache.service - Import ZFS pools by cache file

Any idea why would this happen?
    Thanks.

You need to create a script in /etc/zfs/zed.d/ - see the zed man page.
Use the existing scripts in that dir for examples (e.g. scrub.finish-email.sh).
The existing scripts use /etc/zfs/zed.d/zed.rc; in that you need to set “ZED_EMAIL” to the email address to mail to in order to make the existing mailer scripts do something. Your script could instead hard code the email address.
cmtonkinson wrote:I've got a related problem I just posted about yesterday, I wonder if this busywait tactic would work in my scenario as well - although isn't there a way to do this with Require/After instead of an ExecStartPre wait script?
If you look at zfs.target et al, you'll see they already use Require/After/Before to order things. Xi0N's problem is not the ordering, but that the kernel module hasn't always created the zfs device when systemd runs the .service.
I use ZFS as my root, and the zfs hook runscript has a similar wait in it - so for me the zfs device exists by the time systemd runs the .service.
I don't know if your problem is the slowness of the zfs kernel modules or something else. My first port of call would be to check the journal for errors.

  • Database fails on startup

    HI
I have copied the database from tape. When i try to start it - I get the error message:
ORA-01122: databasefile 1 failed verification check
    ORA-01110: datafile 1 '/dev/rlvdbsfm-01.db'
ORA-01207: file is more recent than controlfile -old controlfile
Is there a command to fix up the controllfile?

Without knowing the details of what you did, how you restored, etc. I would say you're probably going to need to...
    1.Startup in mount mode
    2.recover database using backup controlfile
    3.open the database with resetlogs
That's assuming you don't have a more current controlfile than what you restored from tape. You're getting this message because the SCN in your datafile is more current than it is in your controlfile. Might want to open a TAR with Oracle though, and you can walk them through exactly what you did.

  • G4 Quicksilver failing to startup after chime

My usually stable 10 year old G4 hard drive (attached to VGA monitor) is having serious problems with it's starting up process, so I am presently nursing it along (without shutting down at the end of the day) by using sleep mode. If I shut it down, chances are it fails to power up again. When I press the power on button to startup, I hear the chime and the startup process as usual, then everything stops within seconds, before the monitor screen is due to come on. The two external devices attached are the keyboard with mouse, plus a USB hub. No recent upgrades or changes. Everything is backed up on an external firewire disk. Since this trouble started a few days ago I have replaced the lithum battery and managed to successfully start it up only once (after a number of attempts) so I can nurse it along. I have tried all the usual troublshooting - when I restart in either safe, verbose, or reboot off OSX CD, single user mode, extensions off, or try to reset the PRAM fails to chime twice - in every instance it won't get past the chime. Checking the system profiler 'power on self test' indicates 'failed', failure type is 'external cache'.  As I can't reboot off the OSX10 or systemworks CD I can't run Diskwarrior on the operating system or reinstall the operating system. So, I am now at the limit of my capabilities.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is?
    Frances

The "external cache" would be referring to the L3 cache chips on the processor board.
That error does not bode well for future longevity.
It isn't that uncommon for the L3 to fail on that processor, most likely due to the hot-blooded nature of the dual 1 GHz machine.
It is likely time to search for a used processor daughter card (eBay).
It may also be possible to disable the cache using CHUD from the Developer tools in OS X.
Depending on the exact type of failure, this may (or may not) return some reliability in the boot process.

The problem was with /etc/hosts file.
The value that is returned by the hostname command should appear in /etc/hosts file otherwise BI Server fails to start with the above error
