SUNFIRE V210, E1F64 read error boot failed?
Does anyone know what this error means on the Sunfire v210 server?

This thread has been moved from the Solaris Kernel discussion space,
to the Sun Servers HARDWARE discussion space, for closer topic alignment.
I concur with Pascal that you do not have a Solaris kernel issue, nor even a Solaris issue.
You have an ancient AXI systemboard (which was a piece of hardware manufactured by Sun Microsystems for the OEM market -- most likely the SPARCengine CP1500 board). It is UltraSPARC-IIi hardware that is about 15 to 20 years old, and it is tired.
I suggest you shut the box down, completely take it apart and then put it back together again.
Remove all accumulated dust and lint.
Remove and reinstall the CPU modules. Remove and reinstall the RAM. Remove and reinstall all expansion board risers. Remove and reinstall all adapter cards. Examine all internal data cabling. Clean any and all cooling fans as well as the power supply.
That action will burnish all mechanical and electrical connections.
After you have re-assembled the box, boot from CDROM and examine all your filesystems. FSCK any that require it.

MacBook Pro won't boot up. read error 0x7 failes to load a number of drivers?
Dear All,
Lately I am having quite a bit of trouble with my Late 2011 MacBook Pro. It seems to be stuck in a vicious circle of boot-ups.
Since a couple of days it is taking ages (like 5 min) to boot up, and today it just doesn't get to te "user-screen" anymore.
I have tried to boot it in safe-mode and tried to enter the repair utility, but those don't seem to work.
When I tried booting it in single-user mode, it told me it had "read error 0x7" and it fails to load a whole number of drives.
When I run a Fysical System Check, it tells me the Macintosh HD can not verified?
What can I possibly do to get back in there again? are all my documents lost? This may work if the drive is OK. If it's accessible but corrupted try the second procedure.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
And, it neither work consider my original suggestion. -
GT780 Disk Read Error, Boots fine after 15-45 minutes
Hi.
I've been having a problem with my laptop for the past few months now. When I start it up I end up getting a disk read error but after a short time it seems to boot up properly. I will have this problem for a couple days and then the problem disappears for about a month then reappears for couple days then disappears for the same amount time. I've sent it in once but the problem started again about 1 month after it was sent back. Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be?Quote from: Svet on 12-February-12, 15:24:07

Boot Failed. EFI SCSI Device 1. Hyper-V Windows 2012 R2 Preview
Hello,
I am new to Hyper-V. I installed Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview on a physical server and installed Hyper-V role on it.
I am trying to install Windows 2008 R2 on Hyper-V as a guest OS.
From Hyper-V manager, I created a VM and supplied 2008 R2 ISO as a boot device.
Windows 2008 R2 ISO is bootable. I have used the same ISO on VMware and it works.
I connected the VM and powered on, but OS instalaltion doesn't start.
I get error " Boot Failed. EFI SCSI Device 1." Below is th screen capture.
How to fix this problem ?
How do I go to Hyper-v VM BIOS settings ?
How do I change the boot sequence for Hyper-V VM ?
Thanks ! JayawardhaneI was getting the same error but with WINDOWS 2012 STD Edition.
My case: I was trying to use the existing WINDOWS 2012 VHDX with Generation 2 Virtual Machine, as I wanted to make use of 'Virtual Hard Disk Sharing' feature which is only supported on SCSI Controller. But during boot, it looked for UEFI code, whereas
I had created VHDX using BIOS boot partition. So I guess, In order to use 'VHD Sharing' feature, I have to convert boot partition to GPT which supports UEFI.
If I use the Generation 1 virtual machine, and then change the VHDX Controller from IDE to SCSI from settings, I see the option 'VHD Sharing' getting enabled, but unfortunately the Generation 1 BIOS does not have support for SCSI only IDE. -

Lets break down the facts here: My machine is an Intel-Based iMac running Mavericks - 1TB Hitachi Hard Drive
1. Was running an initial baseline image with Time Machine when the computer froze - waited hours - nothing got better and no functions were possible (force quit, etc.)
2. Hard Reboot
3. Upon reboot, the iMac was unable to load the log-in screen. The image was a folder with a "?" on it.
4. Rebooted with option key held down and selected Macintosh HD - Boot Failed
5. Restarted and Rebooted with Command R held down
6. Ran Disk Verify and Disk Repair - returned errors round one.
7. Ran Disk Verify and Disk Repair - Returned no Errors
8. Restart - Boot failed - the "NO" symbol replaced the apple symbol
9. Reboot with Command R
10. Attempt to mount Macintosh HD
11. Mount Failed.
12. Shutdown
13. Connect Firwire to Host computer and Target Computer
14. Boot with Command T
15. TDM entered - Host Machine cannot read Target Hard Drive
16. Shutdown
17. Boot with Command S
18. Endless loop created - Multiple errors including:
- failed to open create the journal retval 0
- could not read 512 bytes for the journal header - Return 22
- Errorno 19
- hfs_mounterror return: 22
Short of springing for a software online, I have no idea what the next steps are to getting my data moved from the Macintosh HD to my external so I can just reformat and install the OS again. Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is is a serious headache and I cannot lose my data - Thats what I was backing it up for in the first place!!!!You may not have the luxury of having another Mac but you must know someone who does. You need to boot your Mac into target disk mode. This is going to be your best bet as far as saving your files. Keep in mind that everytime you mess with this computer you are further endangering your data. Also, once your Mac is booted as a target disk, it may be possible to mount it on a windoze computer just to copy your files to another drive. I used to have one here and if i still did I would try this for you but I "offed" it in favor on running windoze (Parallels) on my MBP. But, one way or another, you need to get next to another computer.

Install from SCSI CD fails: ERROR: boot device didn't show up after 30
I have a x86 based server w/SCSI HD and DVD drive.
Install fails with following.
Waiting 30 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201108
ERROR: boot device didn't show up after 30 seconds
Falling back to interactive prompt
You can try to fix the problem manually, logout when you are finished
sh: can't access tty; job contro turned off
[ramfs /]#
I hooked up a IDE DVD drive and using same CD installs OK. Then, once installed, I switch my DVD back to SCSI that failed the install, and guess what? Arch booted from my HD now recognizes the SCSI DVD drive, I can mount it and so on. Looks to me like the install kernel doesn't support my SCSI DVD drive but the installed kernel does.
I need the Arch install to work from the SCSI DVD drive on my system. I'm trying to develop an Arch distro for my particular system, which there are about a dozen of in the field, they all have SCSI DVD and no IDE drives. Will I have to add a SCSI driver to the boot kernel? Or is my problem something else?
I notice there is no /dev/disk/by-label (ther is a /dev/disk/by-id by-label and by-uuid).
I do a:
"[ramfs /]# lsmod | grep sr_mod"
sr_mod 14951 0
cdrom 36329 1 sr_mod
scsi_mod 131482 7 sg,sr_mod,sd_mod,libata,mptspi,mptscsih,scsi_transport_spi
[ramfs /]# lsmod | grep scsi
mptscsih 20040 1 mptspi
mptbase 63459 2 mptspi,pmtscsih
scsi_transport_spi 20059 1 mptspi
scsi_mod 131482 7 sg,sr_mod,sd_mod,libata,mptspi,mptscsih,scsi_stransport_spiscrath "I notice there is no /dev/disk/by-label (ther is a /dev/disk/by-id by-label and by-uuid)."
Should be: I notice there is no /dev/disk/by-label (there is a /dev/disk/by-id by-path and by-uuid). -
A new error just started showing up in my Vc logs: com.adobe.versioncue.boot - Failed to start com.adobe.versioncue.backup.schedule.
Since the report of this error, I am unable to create any kind of Version Cue backups. Has anyone else seen this error?
I had hoped that a simple reboot would alleviate the problem, but it didn't. The error occurs during Vc startup (boot). It's a little odd that Vc was mostly fine until I rescheduled my Windows Backup (ntbackup.exe) to run 90 minutes earlier, and failed to tell Diskeeper to also not auto-defrag 90 minutes earlier. (In other words, it's possible that Diskeeper did its thing the same time ntbackup was running.)
Running Windows XP SP3. I'm going to try a repair install of Vc in a few moments.Update 2: ntbackup restore of System State to day before last successful Vc backup failed to correct the problem. I can't even run a manual backup.
Can anyone tell me how to determine the ClassPath used by Vc?
There is no stack trace from this error - the exception is caught and handled, so Vc continues to run after creating the single log entry posted in Msg-1 above. By knowing the ClassPath, I may be able to restore the corrupted Java JARs, if that is the root of this problem.
I'd really hate to have to (ntbackup) restore the whole computer back to last Monday... -
HP Elitebook 8560w Won't Boot UP -- Disk Read Error Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart
Hello. I have an Elitebook 8560w, that won't boot up. The screen says "Disk Read Error Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart". The screen isn't all black...there are some random colored square pixels with a random flashing !, but it's mostly black.
I've run the diagnostics and the F4 Hard Disk Test has passed everytime I've run it. I can hear the hard drive running, so mechanically it's okay (not sure on the logic side).
The F3 Run-in Test fails under the Memory Test, it reads "Run-in test failed - Failed Memory Address 0x76B99000 Pattern expected - 0XFEFFFF Pattern Read - OxFFFFFF
I tried a new 4GB DDDR RAM (removed the old one), and it hasn't helped. I should add before I changed RAM, it failed memory test and said "Disk Not Found".
That made me think it was the hard drive, but the hard drive test has always passed.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm lost. I have a new drive and ram coming from HP, but hoping I can salvage info on HDD.
Also...the computer was set up with Windows 7 as new, but my company reimages everyone's computer and installs XP. So I'm not sure running the HP CD (assuming I can find it) would even help.Disk read failure and disk not found are classic signs of a hard drive failure. The memory failed the test, so it looks like this had two issues at once.
The good news is that the right parts are on their way. If you want to save your data, do not use the recovery disks for the system. They will wipe the hard drive if it is still functional for them.
With regards to retrieving your data, have you talked to the IT team yet? Most IT departments have a process for data retrieval on company equipment.
If they do not have a process setup to do that, then you could try getting a notebook hard drive external enclosure. They usually run fairly cheap for a basic enclosure and that is enough to connect the hard drive externally to a different computer using a USB cable to copy data from it. This would work provided they do not encrypt the hard drive. If they do encrypt it, contact the IT team for their process as encryption limits the methods that are available.

T60 - Error while attempting to read the boot configuration data
Hello,
My wife just got an IBM-certified "pre-owned" T60 (type 2007 66U) running XP a few days ago. I updated all the drivers & patches and handed it over to her in good working order.
This morning when she turned it on, she encountered a message from the Windows Boot Manager:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1) Insert your Windows installation disc
2) Language settings
3) Repair your computer
If you do not have this disc....
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data
It almost goes without saying that we do not having our Windows installation disc as it was pre-installed by Lenovo. I've tried using F11 (after enabling it per other threads on this site) to access the recovery partition but it only takes me directly to the Windows Boot Manager error screen.
How do I go about repairing this BCD/Windows installation so we can continue our life?
Thanks...You said that the computer is running Windows XP, but unless i'm wrong BCD (Boot Configuration Data) is a new feature starting with Windows Vista and also used by Windows 7. Windows XP use NTLDR (NT Loader) so if BCD is corrupted it sounds to me like someone tried to install Vista og Win7 on the computer or there might have been some leftovers from the previous owner. I don't think you have any other option but to use a Windows CD/DVD to fix this problem since you won't be able to boot from this computer. There might be some 3part utilities available that should be able to fix this, but i wouldn't know what that might be. My recommendation would be to get a Windows CD/DVD.

Boot failure - 'Error loading drivers' Extensions.mkext - Read error 0x7
Hello,
I have a user with a Macbook running Leopard. (I'm not sure which version.)
When the machine boots, it fails while trying to load Extensions.mkext. This seems to happen early enough that Safe Mode would not help.
Ideas? Is this a physical read error on the drive?
Regards,
-Travis+Is this a physical read error on the drive?+
Probably. Boot from the installation DVD and check the disk using Disk Utility. If DU doesn't report an error then run Apple Hardware Test (it could be a memory problem..). -

I got a similar error for a PV image. While setting it up I had used dd command to increase its size to add a couple of partitions. It also has a shared disk attached for RAC usage. It was rebooting fine for the first few times. Now after a complete shutdown it is returning the boot error message as below:

MSI Z97-G43 Error : boot guard verified dxe that is fail
my new msi motherboard give this error : boot guard verified dxe that is fail. And i can't enter the bios
list detailed system specs, see >>Posting Guide<<
also give some history:
is this a new build?
if not does it worked fine before? and what you did before end to this? -
My current Configuration:
3 node cluster, using clustered shared storage and about 22 VM's. The Host servers are running 2012 Data Center while all guest are running 2012 Standard. The SAN is EqualLogic and we are using HIT Kit 4.5.
I have a CSV that is running out of space, so I created another CSV so that I could move some of the VM's to a new home. I tested this by creating a test VM, and moved it successfully 3 times. I then moved an actual
LIVE VM and while it seemed to move ok, it will now not start. The message is "a disk read error occurred Press ctrl+alt+del to restart". I moved the test VM and it failed as well.
I have read several things about this, but nothing seems to relate to my specific issue. I have verified that VSS is working and free of errors as well. From the Settings menu for the VM, if I select "Inspect" the drive,
the properties all look fine. It is a VHDX and both the current file size and maximum disk size seem correct.
The VM's were moved using the "move - virtual machine storage" option within Failover Cluster Manager.
Suggestions?
Thanks.Lets see if I can answer all of those and I appreciate the brain storming. This really needs to work, correctly.
1. The Storage is moving.
2. VM's and SAN are on same device.
3. No, my Clustered Shared Volume, CSV, is out of room, (more one that later)
4. No, I actually have 2 sans grouped together. However, I'm moving the VM', form one CSV to another CSV on the Same san. EqualLogic PS 6110 is the one I am trying to move VMS around on, and the other SAN not involved in any way except
for it is in a SAN group is an EqualLogic PS6010.
5. No error During move, it took about 5-10 minutes, no error messages. Note, I did a test and it worked GREAT 3 times. Now both a live VM, and the test VM are doing the same thing.
6. No, the machine is not to large. The test making was a 50 gig drive, just 2012 standard installed with updates. The live VM was a 75 gig VM that was my Trend Micro Server, or anti-virus host.
7. Expand the existing SCV? Yes I should be able to, but there is an issue there. The volume was expanded correctly, Equallogic sees the added space, Fail Over cluster manager sees the added space, however disk manager only
sort of does. When looking at disk manager, there are 2 areas that tell you a little bit about the drive. The top part and then the bottom part. The top part only shows 500G, the original size, while the bottom part
says that it is 1 TB in size. I call Dell's technical support and after they looked at it I was told by the technician that they had seen this a couple of times and the only way to fix it was to move all the VM's to another CSV and delete the troubled
CSV. I thought about adding more space to the troubled CSV, but its on a production server with about 12 VM's running on it and I did not want to take a chance. The Trend VM was running on CSV-1 and working fine.
I must admit that the test VM, was on CSV-2. I moved the Test VM from csv-2 to csv-3 back and forth several times with no errors. The Trend Server was on CSV-1 and was moved to CSV-3, however it failed. Again, I then moved
the test VM from CSV-2 to CSV-3 and it failed the same way. I could not test the "TEST - VM" on csv-1 due to csv-1 not having enough space.
8. I did disable the network from the VM to see if that mattered it did not.
9. I have not yet had a chance to connect the VHDX to a new VM, but I will do that in about an hour, hopefully. Once I am able to test that suggestion I will post the results as well.
Again, thanks for all the suggestions and comments, as I had rather have lots to look at and try. I hope I answered them well enough.

The MSI installers are usually used in corporate environments to roll out installs on multiple machines. However, you can use it like a normal (EXE) installer; it will just go through fewer steps than the EXE. Not sure if it will improve the situation, but it's worth a try.
Another thing to try is to uninstall these remaining entries using Microsoft Fixit: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall - also no guarantee, but also worth trying.
