Sunlink X.25 9.0 vs. Solstice X.25 9.2

Hi there,
We have some problems with installing Sunlink 9.0 on a Solaris 8 system which has no zsh device... It seems that Sunlink 9.0 only supports zsh devices and during installation, the x25 device fails to install.
Sunlink 9.0 doesn't support the newer se_hdlc devices so I would like to know whether Solstice X.25 9.2 is the right product to add X.25 to our system. No need to order it otherwise. I didn't find any info on this in the releasenotes/documentation.
Does anybody know this ?
Thanx N advance
Bas

Sunlink was earlier name for the X.25 software.

Please follow the link above. You will only find now a single selection under the name "X.25" which will take you to a Solstice
X.25 9.1 Product description page.
The following release history shows when the switch from Sunlink to Solstice occured.
Solstice X.25 9.1 (released 03/97)
Solstice X.25 9.0 (released 9/95)
Sunlink X.25 8.0.2 (released 10/94)
Sunlink X.25 7.0
If still there is any confusion please do not hesitate to answer to my response. Of course a Sales person could always give you the latest list of Softwaree that we sell.

  • Solstice X.25 9.1 vs Sunlink X.25

    Hello, all!
Maybe this is an offtopic, but I did not find forums covering my question.
I want to know, what difference is between Solstice X.25 and Sunlink X.25. As I read @docs.sun.com, they are almost the same thing. I want to know, are they compatible at all and, in particular, at X.25 level (layer 3) for creating applications. Is there any reason to buy one and not another?

  • Information on the SOLSTICE X.25

    Hello;
I work on a SUN E220 server (Solaris8) and I must send of data from my Sun Serveur another server Linux (Red Hat 7) in using X.25 network.
On this server is installed one X.25 card and SOLSTICE X.25 stack for allowing IP to be routed across X.25 links.
My customer has a nonpowerful network : a X.25 access to 64 kb/s and my I must respect a constraint of the customer: to send all data in a reduced lapse of time.
To ensure this constraint, it is necessary to envisage two accesses to 64 kb/s on server SUN.
    Question 1:
    - Use two X.25 cards or one X.25 card with two ports ?
    Question 2 :
    - It possible with this equipment is simultaneously to make of X.25 and the IP/X.25 and how ? This is because my Sun server communicates through X.25 with two different servers (First IP/X.25 and the secon X.25).
    Best Regard;
    Djamel

    Problem solved.
License info in /etc/SUNWconn/x25/x25_9.1.lic,x had different port number from combined license file. After port number was changed, to match the port in the combined license file, Sunlink now finds a valid x.25 license!

  • Solstice X.25 license problem?

I installed Solstice x.25 on an Ultra 1 (Solaris 7) and installed the license key using lit.
When I try to start the network using x25tool, I get the message similar to "x.25 is looking for a license server, still trying" followed by network has been brought up. I then do a Link Status from x25tool and it says that LAPB is connected and normal. Shortly after that, however, I get the message that LAPB is down and the x.25 license was lost.
With past installations, I have noticed that I ususally get a confirmation message that a valid license has beem found. The only time that I get this confirmation is when I run the x25netd script manually. Do I have to put x25netd in my startup. I thought the x.25 install would have taken care of this.
Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Solstice ppp 3.0.1 + what r patches?

    Hi there,
I ve installed SolsticePPP3.0.1 completely on Sol8/Intel and tried to set up ISP. However, after I turn on PPPTool icon, it has connected to my ISP Server but it still not connect to browser Netscape4.7//
Sun Service Support tell me that I should install more SUNLink patches. Is that right? Please help me to set up a correct Internet connection using solstice ppp3.0.1
p/s: I ve install and setup patches attached with Solsticeppp3.0.1
    thanks
    dphan

You have to remove ALL ppp packages before installing Solstice PPP 3.0.1.
No additional patches are needed. pdf document 805-4018 may be useful.
This ppp 301 is very easy to install ! You might need to change some lines in
    /etc/opt/SUNWconn/ppp/script. Good luck !

Email address as @UK.sun.com, @sun.com no more exist.
    How may I have a license ?
    Thanks
    Charp.

    Hi.
This product EOL. Oracle request support contract for any contacts.
In case you have support contract you can upgrade OSI to 9.0 + patch. After this you not need additional license key.
    Additional information:

  • How to backout a Recommended Patch cluster deployment in Solstice disksuite

    Hello Admin's,
I am planning to use the following Plan of action for deploying the latest Solaris 8 Recommended Patch cluster on the production server's i support. My
concern is if the patching activity fails or the application and Oracle databases dont come up after deploying the patch cluster. How do i revert back to system to its original state using the submirror's which i have detached prior to patching the system :
    1) Will shutdown the applications and the databases on the server:
    2) Will capture the output of the following commands :
    df -k
    ifconfig -a
    contents of the files /etc/passwd /etc/shadow /etc/vfstab /etc/system
    metastat -p
    netstat -rn
    prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
    prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c1t1d0s0
    3) We bring the system to the ok prompt
    4) We will try to boot the system from both the disk's which are part of the d10 metadevice for root filesystem

Recommended patch sets are and to the best of my knowledge have always been regenerated twice a month.
I think your thinking of maintenance releases. When they generate a new CD image which can be used to do an upgrade install.
They try to generate those every 6 months, but the schedule often slips.
The two most recent were sol10 11/06 and sol10 8/07.

  • Loaded Solstice AdminSuite and now pcplusmp error!

Wow, I've been running my Solaris 8 (fully patched) on a Compaq Proliant twin Xeon system for a couple of months now. I've been working it, tweaking it, getting it ready for prime time to take over as primary web server for a 2000 box. Today I installed Sun Solstice AdminSuite and when I rebooted (it prompted me), it fails at the kernel load. The error message I get just before the panic is:
warning: pcplusmp: acpi_probe illegal type header in APIC DT
Looks like a kernel issue but I don't know what. I've searched the web, Sun, everywhere and can't find anything useful on this. Has anyone had this problem with a dual-processor server? Any light you can shed would be appreciated.
    -Steve

I am seeing the same error on a PRIMERGY BX6320-S2 blade with AMD QUAD Opteron 8350 Processors running Solaris 10 x86 U5. Even after patching with the latest release bringing the kernel to 137112-03.

  • Recovery plan for Solstice disk suite 4.2 on Solaris 8

need to know have more details regarding recovery of applications which are running on a server with Solstice disk suite.
I know we run metadb d option for replacing bad disks when there is disk failure and metareplace for Sub Mirrors out of sync and are in maintenance state.
I would appreciate if you have any detailed recovery plan as to how we can take care of applications such as Oracle ,when the system crashes Which is using Solstice disk suite .
Any websites or white papers on the same will be highly appreciated.

what exactly is a scenario you are thinking about!?

  • Anyone familiar w. SNMP, JMX, JDMK or Solstice

I am interested in reporting the number of java "objects" that are sent over a network.
Ideally, I would see reports in the Sun MC, Management Console.
Can anyone provide any clues as to whether this is possible using SNMP, JMX, JDMK, Solstice, or something else.
I am not interested in a proxy service. I do not want to intrude on the network.

Are you asking about the way to report or query the information such that can implement the monitor and communicate to SMC?
Or, are you wondering if the JVM (?) tracks that information in a way that is accessible by any or all of the thos protocols? If so, the answer is no.

  • How to exclude savesets in Solstice backup ??

    Hello Everyone,
I have a very large database on 3 filesystems, approx. 120 G and it has been backed up 2 times and doesn't need backup anymore being a static datawarehouse database.
I would really appreciate If someone can help me to exclude it from being backed up.
    We are using Solstice backup.
    Thanks,
    Gtma

Read the man page on nsr, it explains how to create a directive that allows you to specify specific files/filesystems to skip. Here is an example of a .nsr file that would skip all .dbf and .ctl files in the oradata directory:
    << ./oradata >>
    +skip: *.dbf *.ctl
This .nsr file would reside in parent directory of oradata.
    Hope this helps
