SunMC Console on Windows XP not connecting

Hello,
I have just installed SunMC Center on my PC and attempted to login into the SunMC Server but get an error of communication could not be established, the server version may be incompatible.
I am able to connect using another PC, so my SMC server is up and the processes are up and fine. The working PC is on the same segment as my new PC, so I dont know what could be the issue with this PC thats not working.
Has anyone ran into this before? If so, what is not configured?
TIA
LR

Hi,
I had this problem-it is not a firewall issue (I had the problem with
both the firewall on my PC and the server down) but seems
to be a weird software conflict.I posted a message on this some
time ago (displayed below)..
Glad to see somebody else is also having this problem and it is not
just me.Anybody have the console on Windows XP working?
So far all I have found out is that port 23 of the SMC server is being
accessed by the SMC console on the PC (which is not working) but
on the laptop install of the SMC console it is not (this information is from
firewall logs).
Both the SMC consoles on the Laptop and the PC are installed from
the same packages. Both have the same firewall settings, both report the same java version..
Needless to say if you get it working let us know how you did it.
Cheers,
Ian
====================================
I have been trying to get the Java based console
Working from my PC and have found the following
oddments. When I run it from my PC the console fails
with a message saying Communication could not be
Established with the server. The server version may be
Incompatible If I then get my laptop, which has the same
Operatating system, same firewall setup, same virus software,
Same java :-
java version "1.4.2_03"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_03-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_03-b02, mixed mode),and the same smc software ,
remove my PC from the network and plug in my laptop in which has the
same IP address as my PC,the console software works! Does anybody have any
idea what could be preventing the console on the PC working whilst the
laptop is fine? I have a few ideas in that the console software installed on some
other pcs does not work as well so there appears to be something in common
Installed on the PCs (but not on the laptop) which is somehow stopping
the console from working. Now ,my pc is one inherited from the ghost of sys admins
Past but there is nothing as far as I can see which could cause some form of
Conflict-I am mainly focusing on Java based software..What I guess I will have to do
Is to uninstall as much software as I can and hope to eventually find the
Culprit..

  • ITunes 10.5 for Windows 7 not connecting to iTunes store.

I updated to iTunes 10.5 today hoping that Apple fixed the connection problems which came with previous versions of iTunes for Windows. Unfortunately I was wrong. After installing 10.5, I cannot connect to the iTunes store...again. The progress bar at the top locks (along with the message "Accessing iTunes Store") and after 30 seconds all I get is a blank page. This is exactly what has happed in the last couple of versions of iTunes for Windows. I tried some of the 'netsh' fixes seen on other posts and this did not solve the issue. I also tried unistalling the specific AppleApplicationSupport software (in this case 2.1.5) and re-installing the 1.5.2 version (which fixed the connection problems on the previous version of iTunes) as seen on other posts but doing this will not work either. Any suggestions out there?

since other people aren't having this same issue you need to try troubleshooting your own machine and network connections to fix this, it's most likely not due to apple software.
Reconfigure any security software to allow Apple's servers to pass.
Useful information for configuring your security software:
IMPORTANT: iTunes must be allowed to contact Apple using the following ports and servers:
              ▪          port 80
              ▪          port 443
              ▪          phobos.apple.com, deimos3.apple.com, albert.apple.com, gs.apple.com, itunes.apple.com, ax.itunes.apple.com, ax.init.itunes.apple.com, ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
iTunes uses well known ports and these ports may need to be opened for iTunes: 80, 443, 3689, 5297, 5298, 5353, 8000-8999, and 42000-42999.
iTunes also contacts VeriSign servers during an iPhone restore and activation:
              ▪          evintl-ocsp.verisign.com
              ▪          evsecure-ocsp.verisign.com
For more information see Update and restore alert messages on iPhone and iPod touch
Temporarily disable or uninstall your security software
If the current available version of your security software is incompatible with iTunes, you can disable the security software and test if it is the source of the issue. It might also be necessary to temporarily uninstall security software after making sure you can reinstall it and note any required licenses. A temporary deinstallation might be required because parts of some security software remain active in the background though they appear to be deactivated.
To reduce any security risks that security software is designed to prevent, consider making sure all files needed to reinstall it are available and disconnect network connections before uninstalling security software. Should this not be possible, such as if a download without active security software is required, that required step should be the only process completed without security software. For assistance in checking your configuration, disabling, or uninstalling your security software, please contact the manufacturer.
Once disabled or uninstalled, perform only the steps required to verify your issue has been resolved. Complete whatever update, restore, syncing, back up, activation, or other task you were troubleshooting. Once that task is complete, install and configure compatible security software to ensure your PC is protected.
If it isn't a program or software on the computer contact your Internet Service Provider and/or Router Company to configure or disable the firewall in the router settings.
To isolate the issue to this you can also try disconnecting the router and plugging your computer directly in to the modem but this does not help for troubleshooting time-out issues directly on any apple mobile devices only if you are syncing or going through iTunes on the computer.

  • Windows does not connect to Airport Express with WPA-Enterprise

    Hey,
we are using some AirPort-Express stations at our office to provide a wireless network to our staff.
The APs use WPA/WPA2-Enterprise (linked to a RADIUS-Server) to check the users authority.
On Macs and iOS devices the connection to AP works fine but if we try to connect a Windows client, Windows shows up the login-screen, checks the password (if you try a wrong password it shows the login-screen again) but then it says that no connection is possible. We also tried it on another laptop (both using Windows 7 Professional), but it still does not work.
    Can anybody help us?
    Thanks!

This issue is often caused by Windows firewall, and sometimes caused by wireless interfernece. Try disabling the firewall or other anti-virus software. You can also directly connect you AE to your computer via ethernet to access the configuration.
If all else fails, you have hard reset the AE device and reconfigure.

  • Outlook clients on Windows XP not connecting to Exchange 2013

Previously outlook on XP machines were working fine with a SAN certificate having the mail.company.com as common name. Since we're moving to Exchange Hybrid we reissued  the certificate and made company.com as the common name after that change all Outlook
on XP machines are not able to connect to the Exchange 2013. It is always asking for password. Outlook clients on windows 7 and 8 have no problem.
I wanted to run the below commands but I'm worried that it may break the connections of the Windows 7 and 8 machines:
     Set-OutlookProvider
    EXCH -CertPrincipalName msstd:mail.XXX.com
      Set-OutlookProvider
    EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:mail.XXX.com
Is it safe to run the commands or I should just reissue again the certificate and make the mail.company.com as the common name? Will there be any issues with Exchange 2013 hybrid if I do this?

I just reissued the certificate and all Outlook on windows xp are working now.

  • Windows does not connect to wireless network on startup! Please help!.

Hello. A few days ago i watched a tutorial on youtube on how to remove the red "x" problem over my internet icon, by deleting a file called "Config" in "Network" by opening"Regedit". I know see that I never should
have done that. I did that, and after that every time when I start up my computer it will not automatically connect to my wireless network as it did before i deleted that "Config" file.
Anoyone out there that know how I can fix this?. Thanks.

    Hi,
Before we edit the registry, have we performed a backup of the registry files?  Do we have any backup available before the changes? If yes, please take use of the backups.
Besides, could you please have a share for which tutorial you have followed? Or please share with the full registry path?
Have you tried to reconfigure the wireless network settings with your laptop?

  • Windows would not connect with Airport ext

    Hey!
I had to reset my Airport for my OSX. When I switch to windows on my IMAC, it won't connect. It use to before I reset. I can see it on the connexions available, but I get a message it can't find it.
    Any help please?
    Thanks!

I went into Network configuration and shows Airport ID that can not be changed (not shure whether it refers to the notebook hardware ID) On the ethernet Client ID is blank.
I was able to make connection once or twice before but not recently. Apparently it is a common problem with Mac Notebooks both G4 and Intel(I talked to other users that had a Mac) while PCs do not have the problem.
Other users were able to eventually connect by rebooting the computer.
Not sure if the problem became definite when I accessed wireless via Windows.
Tried to contact Apple Support on the phone but was told they do not provide support outside the US.
Hope someone can help since I really do not want to use Windows to access the Internet.

I was able to connect to I-tune store at one point, but for some reason cannot now. The diagnostic indicates a secure link to store is the issue. Firewall and McAfee is showing full access. Using windows 7.

I can't get windows in Bootcamp to connect to my Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse.  It is connected in OS-X, but when I try to connect it in Windows, it sees it, but never connects.

The simpler solution to test is to unpaid the mouse from OSX side, pair it to Windows first, and then pair it to the OSX side.

  • Windows 8 not connecting.

Asking for network security key?  What is that?

Network Security Key = WiFi Password
Your WiFi password should be recorded on a label on the back of your Jetpack.  Some Jetpacks have an interface on them that allows you to display the WiFi Password on the device E-Ink screen too.  Type that password in as your Security key when connecting the Win8 device to the Jetpack.  Once you enter the WiFi password the Win8 device should remember it by default and allow you to auto connect in the future.
Let us know if you have any other error messages or issues connecting to Win8.

Hi. I have used this router connected to one router acting as a cable modem  at a cable connection for years and now running with windows 7, after 24 hours, windows can not connect. It has not problems connecting by wireless. It is curious because it has not any problem connecting at windows xp.
    Anybody have seen this?

In the command prompt post the results of the below command:
    ipconfig /all
I'm guessing your adapter isn't getting IP information. Good troublehooting info will be in the ipconfig output.

did you upgrade your Windows 8.1 from XP?

    Check OP reply:
A follow up for anyone reading this. My problem was apparently caused by upgrading from XP and usinging the keep files and settings option. Though there are very limited items brought over from an XP installation, something buried somewhere disabled the
    network connections.
To fix this, Windows 8 has a new feature called reset. This basically does setup all over again if you choose the erase files option. You have to enter the product key again when you do this. It is a clean installation.  I had to update the graphic
card drivers, add Media Center back in, install the HD Homerun Prime software, run the cable advisor, do TV setup and finally have it working as I had planned.
I suggest try same procedure (if you upgrade from XP to Windows 8.1), choose reset and reinstall back all the drivers
