Sunray Server and DTUs USB Support

I'm looking for help on usb support through the Sunray DTUs. I would like to be able to connect a usb device as I would with inside of Windows from a Sunray. USB drives are about the only thing I have working but not consistently. I've used the USB drive daemon posted on the Thinkthin blog and that works most of the time. I would like to use printers connected directly to the DTU. I have an idea on how to add the printer using the tmp/SUWut/units/<macaddress>/dev path but it seems that I cannot get it to work; maybe I'm using the wrong settings/drivers. I would also like to use USB cdroms, floppys, etc. Basically anything that doesn't require a special driver in Windows I would like to use on a DTU. It makes it hard to convince people that these can replace desktops when the functionality of things like USB are nowhere nearly as developed as Windows desktops. BTW, I need it both on the Solaris side and through the Sunray Windows connector. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure about sunray connector (windows) but within solaris it is rather transparent as long as the usb drive device is not NTFS. Plug it in and it should show up in /tmp/SUNWut/mnt/user/. I use a dvdwriter (lightscribe) the same way.
Whenever I have problems with users not being able to mount thumb drives it is always a NTFS issue or a high density thumb drive (8-16gb).
Not sure why sun doesn't put something more apparent on the desktop when you mount a drive. The rest of the world does that and it would make it a bit more user friendly. If you want a pain in the rear try using virtualbox through a sunray and mount usb devices. It works but it is really convoluted.
Never bothered with printers.

  • Sunray unit connected to Linux Sunray server and Solaris Sunray Server

    Hi,
Currently, I work in a development environment where there is two Sunray servers.
One server is running on Linux ubuntu and the second one is running on Solaris.
In order to connect to the wanted sunray server, the dhcp server is configured with the list of the mac address of the sunray units. So one sunray unit connects always to the same sunray server.
I would like to know if it is possible to have the two sunray server available from one sunray unit. And make the choice of sunray Server in function of the sun card inserted in the sunray unit.
    - from my sunray unit A, if I insert my sun card AC I can open a session on the Linux server.
    - from my sunray unit A, if I insert my sun card BC I can open a session on the Solaris server.
    Thanks

You can do this by using an SRSS feature called "Automatic Multi-Group Hotdesking", or AMGH for short. For details read the "Regional Hotdesking" section in the SRSS Admin Guide and the manpages for utamghadm, ut_amgh_script_interface, ut_amgh_get_server_list and ut_amgh_free_server_list, and/or read the AMGH entries in [Bob Doolittle's blog|http://blogs.sun.com/bobd/].

  • Microsoft Transaction Server and Oracle 7.3.4/8.0.5

    Hello all,
I have been working with VB COM objects in MTS and Oracle 7.3.4/8.0.5 for most of this year (2000), and I have things working with relative smoothness. However, I am having severe performance issues.
I have used the white paper Using Oracle with Microsoft Transaction Server and COM+ (http://support.microsoft.com/support/complus/mtsandoracle.asp), which got things rolling, but there is little/no information on how to gain performance. I am using the same DLLs against SQL Server databases, and the performance is very noticeably better.
Has anyone done any performance tuning in this type of scenario? Any tips for me?

Dyna, I have yet to hear of someone that has been able to successfully replicate data from Oracle 8i to 7.3.4 using Oracle Replication Services. I would sugest that you take a look at third-party solutions like DataMirror Transformation Server to help you out with this. More information is available on our web-site (www.datamirror.com) if you wish to investigate this further.

Please help!

You will need to get the required info to create/access the account with an email client from your school.
Are you currently accessing the account with an email client on your computer - if you have a Mac with the Mail.app, or if you have a PC with Outlook Express, etc.? If so, you can get the required account settings there.

Maunally restore it. In order to do this:
-Download the iOS 5.1.1 firmware from here  http://www.redmondpie.com/download-5.1.1-ios-for-iphone-4s-4-3gs-ipad-ipod-touch -direct-official-links/
    1. After downloading the firmware from the given link, open iTunes and click on your device.
    2. Now press SHIFT on your keyboard and while pressing it click on "Restore".
    3. A dialog box will appear.
    4. Select the firmware you downloaded and click ok.
    5. Done!!! Your iPhone will now be restored to 5.1.1 and if you had backed up your iPod before, then you can put all its settings afterwards.

  • BPM and SOA will Support Windows Server 2003 R2 x64

    Hello All -
Can you please tell me, BPM and SOA Suite (10g and 11g) can support the following Server?
    Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition Service Pack2.
    Thanks in advance.

Here's where you can find the compatibility matrix for Oracle BPM 10g with platforms, operating systems, JVMs and databases: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bpm/obpm-config-matrix-085247.html#bpms1032
Getting the same compatibility information for Oracle BPM 11g proves a bit more difficult. The closest I've come to finding a similar list is when I went to http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/E18558_01/fusion_requirements.htm. Sure others will have fond an easier route to the information for 11g.

    Hi Prabhat Y,
Per my understanding that you are doing the migration from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008 and now you are re-creating the 3500 subscriptions in the SSRS 2008, so you want to the new created subscription in SSRS 2008 will be pause and not execute at this time, right?
Generally, we have several method to pause the subscription processing, please reference to details information below:
When you created an subscription, an new Sql Server Agent job will be created too, so you can you can just uncheck the 'enabled' checkbox in the job properties as below to disable the execution of the job,you can also  stop the SQL Server Agent Services
manually, all your subscriptions will stop running:
    More information, Please reference to:
How to temporarily stop SSRS subscriptions
You can also disable a Shared Data Source, pause a Shared Schedule to pause the subscription processing.
    Pause Report and Subscription Processing
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • I am running Mountain Lion Server, and the App Store indicates an upgrade to Server.App version 2.2.5. When I try to upgrade it will not install. Is that because OSX8 is no longer supported; and if so, is there an alternate source for this upgrade if

Mountain Lion Server.app no longer supported?

Probably  a long shot, but try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.

  • [SOLVED] Virtualbox and USB Support

I use Virtualbox quite regularly for work and school. I have Windows installed within Virtualbox, and I use it whenever school or work requires. However, USB support has never worked for me (even with the fstab addition) and I thought maybe I'll spend some time to figure this out.
Basically, I may want to do things like insert a flash drive and make it available to the VM, or even sometimes an MP3 player or even my PSP. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work. There USB filters, but often times the device I want is greyed out, and can't be selected. When I am able to select a device to create a filter, it doesn't do anything. I did check the Wiki already.
Maybe I'm missing something? Or is USB support in Virtualbox just that bad? I was hoping there would be some sort of way I can dedicate a USB port to Virtualbox, and make it exclusive. I think VMWare can do that but I'm not sure that Virtualbox can.

I hope it's ok to post in this thread because if I started a new thread the title would be identical.  I am also using virtualbox_bin from AUR and while USB passthrough works just fine to my Windows XP guest, it can't be working any faster than USB v1.1 speed.  I have the appropriate entry in /etc/fstab and am a member of the virtualbox group.  No permissions problems and from what I can tell there's no corruption of data to/from any of my USB flash drives.  The only issue I've had other than the aforementioned lack of speed is with a 1TB Western Digital Passport.  It seemed to have "lost" some directories.  In other words they appeared completely empty on the XP side.  After shutting down the guest I verified that all of the files were indeed still there and intact.  I've basically chalked that one up to a deficiency in Windows XP.  But this speed issue is seriously holding me back.

  • Oracle Weblogic server and OSGi support

I am working on OSGi implementations (Equinox/Apache Felix), application is full Spring MVC based, using Spring DM(Latest versions Gemini Blueprint and Eclipse Virgo) to deploy bundles. I couldn't able to deploy Web application as an OSGi bundle. It is not recognizing web bundles.
Regarding this I have some questions below:
    1. Does Weblogic server 10.3.3 supports OSGi bundles and specifically OSGi specifications.
    2. If it supports OSGi bundles, then what is the way to do it? I haven't got anything regarding this.
    3. Does Weblogic Server has compatibility with Eclipse Virgo or Gemini blueprint, so that we can deploy OSGi bundles using Virgo or Gemini Blueprint.
    4. Which versions of weblogic server supports OSGi implementations?
Any help or reference code regrading this would be of great help.
    Regards
    Rahul

Yes, since the release 10.3.4 the product called Weblogic Server provides features of both "BEA WLS" and "Oracle AS" (namely, support for Forms and Reports, ADF, etc.)
Existing customers of Oracle AS may upgrade to Weblogic Server to get its benefits (for instance, JRockIt JVM). For new ones, Oracle AS should no longer be offered.

  • Solaris 10 Oracle VDI VirtualBox 3.2 USB support

    Dear folks,
This my first time to the forum, since we are in the progress of deploying 240+ thin clients using Oracle VDI. I was piloting the project in a desktop machines with Sunray 3i. I installed Solaris 10 9/10 and Oracle VDI 3.2.1. However, while I was creating WinXP VM in Virtualbox 3.2 -the one which came with Oracle VDI 3.2- I got that error about being unable to connect to USB proxy server. Eventually this error leads to that all my VMs doesn't support USB redirection. So USB flash disk drive doesn't work in my Sunray 3i. Reading VirtualBox documentation Installing on Solaris hosts , I came across this info "*This does not apply to Solaris 10 hosts due to lack of USB support.*" Is this real?
Does this mean I can't redirect USB hardware to my VMs in the server via Sunray 3i? If this is true, what is the workaround for this problem?
    Please advise me. . .

Other than the documentation stating it doesn't work, in practice have you tested it to not work also?
We have two Solaris 10u5 machines running Vbox 3.2.12 and they pass through USB fine with our Sun Ray 3's (not 3i's but that shouldn't matter).
Did you enable USB passthrough in the VDI core by selecting the desktop pool and going to the Settings -> Sun Ray RDP Settings? Theres checkboxes to enable USB/smartcard pass through.
