Sunray Server Software 1.3 and Solaris 9

Any idea when Sunray Server 1.3 will be supported on Solaris 9? I'm a bit surprised that there haven't been any patches released yet, Solaris 9 has been out for a while now...

Hi there,
as far as I know, 1.x will never be supported on Solaris 9, but the upcomming 2.0 will.

Chris

  • How to configure polish keyboard on SunRay Server Software

    Hi all
I have a anoying probem with Sun USB Keyboard working on SunRay.
I've installed SunRay Server Software 3.1 on RedHat ES
Everything works fine but the keyboard on terminal client. Keyboard pluged into the server (RH ES) works good, i can press ALT+key to see polish letter, but it doesn't work when i log in from SunRay terminal. Even xmodmap on server shows different logs than on terminal. It is like client can't see the polish layout and keyboard type. I think it takes default from somewhere.
Is there any other file to confgure layout different then xorg.conf? Maybe in /opt/SUNut ?
I was trying to configure it through setxkbmap but I get error: "XKB extension not present on :11.0"
Have no clue to solve that problem...Can anyone help me?
    thanks in advance!

Sorry, Dariusz but your issue is not a hardware issue.
Operating Environment locale and its influence on a keyboard mapping is 100% a software issue.
You might consider posting your question to one of the OS forums.
However, since you are not using Solaris or JDS, there may not be any answer for you here.
I do not see the Sun Ray software as qualified for CentOS
    http://www.sun.com/software/sunray/index.xml
If you have purchased the Sun Ray License(s) to use the software beyond the 90 day evaluation period, then you can contact Sun's technical support and open a service case.

  • Missing data in server monitor under linux and solaris

Some metrics are not displayed in our environments, specifically under the statistics tab, request statistics, active coldfusion thread, we always have a zero line.  Also under memory usage, "cf threads by memory usage" is always empty.  I have all three buttons at the top checked so they are monitoring.  Is there something else I'm doing wrong?
    Environment 1 : dell2850->centos5->vmware->centos5->32bitJDK5->tomcat6->coldfusion8
    Environment 2 : sun5120->solaris10->64bitJDK5->tomcat6->coldfusion8
I'm specifically wanting thread info to check if I should increase the defaults in CFIDE configuration.  Most everything on the server is being delivered faster now that we are using a 64bit JVM and have moved to solaris in production (from windows).  But there are some sections of our cfm logic that are taking much longer now (2000% longer)
    Thanks
    Ahnjoan

    Hi all,
does anyone can write some info why java Threads are
recorded in the list of process (ps -ef) when you run
on a Linux box, but not the same when you run on
Solaris ? Which Thread support is more
performant/stable that on Linux or that on Solaris?
    Thanks
FrancescoLinux treats kernell threads as light weight processes and displays them as if they are actual processes - they of course are not, so the results of 'ps' can be misleading. Solaris fully differentiates between its three concepts of threads, lightweight processes and processes and 'ps' only shows actual processes.
Both implementations in Linux and Solaris perform well.
By the way, Solaris 8 has an optional, slightly different thread model than earlier versions of Solaris (in fact it is more like NT's) and that can be more efficient for JVM's or other multithreaded systems running on SMP systems. It can also be worse - your mileage may vary.

  • VMware Server 2.0.2 and Solaris 10 10/08 x86 doesn't install

    Hi,
I'm having trouble installing Solaris 10 using Server 2.0.2.  I need Solaris 10 for dev/testing purposes.  I don't have a spare 64-bit machine to run the latest vSphere Hypervisor 5.1 so I thought I would try Server 2.0.2 since it co-exists with Windows and supports Solaris 10.
I have a Intel Core i5,  8GB, running Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  I'm able to create a Virtual Machine in Web Access.  Event log says the VM is powered on and I see some DVD disk access but Solaris never gets installed.  I've tried using ISO image and DVD-ROM disc.  Same results.  Also tried creating 32-bit and 64-bit Solaris 10 installation.  Nothing.   I was under the assumption, OS installation would start once the VM was powered on.
Since Web Access doesn't show any major failures alerts, I'm assuming there isn't a hardware issue???
I've included the VMware log file for reference.  Hopefully I'm not missing something obvious.
    Thanks kindly for your help,

I figured it out.  Gotta used a "supported" browser.   Either Firefox 2 or 3.  Or IE 6 or 7.
Things get outdated real fast.  I'm on Firefox 19.  The Web Access UI wasn't showing anything in Firefox 19 under the VMs.  Screen wasn't garbled or messed up which threw me off, just blank.

  • Incompatibility between company enterprise server/software (non BB) and blackberry software updates.

My phone is connected to our company enterprise server and works fine until the blackberry software updates. When ever a blackberry software update occurs, the operating system on the phone crashes, (icons shrink down, not all icons are present, phone does not display or operate correctly).  I am on my 5th phone, the only way to correct the situation is to get another phone.    Is there some way I can turn off the blackberry updates on my phone???

for email on a BlackBerry device, you have the following options :
BES. It's the Rolls Royce. You have to pay the price for it (a BES server, as well as admins, OR use a private BES service)
BIS. It's the one for regular people. You can't deal with folders, but it's free and works on any email address using POP3 or IMAP
BIS over Outlook Web Access. It's like BIS but through the webmail Outlook Web Access. Depending on the version of Outlook Web Access, it is or not possible for you to connect to it
    webmails
a dedicated email application, like GMail for BlackBerry
BlackBerry Unite -> check the documentation on the website about that. Basically, it's like a tiny BES.
Watch out, unlike Windows Mobile devices, there are no true IMAP clients available on the BlackBerry devices (you can use BIS over IMAP but without folders for example).

  • Sunray unit connected to Linux Sunray server and Solaris Sunray Server

    Hi,
Currently, I work in a development environment where there is two Sunray servers.
One server is running on Linux ubuntu and the second one is running on Solaris.
In order to connect to the wanted sunray server, the dhcp server is configured with the list of the mac address of the sunray units. So one sunray unit connects always to the same sunray server.
I would like to know if it is possible to have the two sunray server available from one sunray unit. And make the choice of sunray Server in function of the sun card inserted in the sunray unit.
    - from my sunray unit A, if I insert my sun card AC I can open a session on the Linux server.
    - from my sunray unit A, if I insert my sun card BC I can open a session on the Solaris server.
    Thanks

You can do this by using an SRSS feature called "Automatic Multi-Group Hotdesking", or AMGH for short. For details read the "Regional Hotdesking" section in the SRSS Admin Guide and the manpages for utamghadm, ut_amgh_script_interface, ut_amgh_get_server_list and ut_amgh_free_server_list, and/or read the AMGH entries in [Bob Doolittle's blog|http://blogs.sun.com/bobd/].

  • Solaris 10, Sun Ray Server Software

    Hi,
I installed Solaris 10 on my x86 machine and managed to get it (eventually!) configured with a static IP etc.
I then began the install of Sun Ray Server Software and the first part went well. I then performed a reboot as requested using
sync;sync;init 6As this occured i spotted an error saying gzip problem due to not enough space when doing something with the boot_archive. I have since not been able to reboot my machine as I get Error 28: Selected Item cannot fit into memory etc. I found an article on the forums saying log in using the cd to a single user shell, rename the boot_archive to boot_archive.disabled and reboot. This has not had any affect. When rebooting the same error about gzip and space occured and then the error 28 appered. I tried this several times to no avail - once not getting the error 28 but the system not booting and freezing on teh grub window.
    Any ideas?!
    Regards
    Richard

I am not familiar with the boot_archive bit but I have used srss for ages without a problem like that. What kind of system is it on?

  • Sunray Server Sizing - Solaris x64

    Hi,
Where can I obtain information on how to size a Sunray server running on x4170 hardware for CPU and memory in a pure kiosk configuration where the Sun connector redirects the session to a XP VM? Currently I base my config on 20 - 35 users per CPU core and 256MB ram per user. Also with network configuration as in how do I team NIC's together using Solaris 10 for the above configuration, is it needed or what are the best practices.
    Thank you.

On the SunRay wiki are some sizing examples. Memory is the crucial part, they say.

I set up Raid on my Mac Mini Server and lost my Server software. It is not listed in my "purchased" apps. How can I get it w/o having to purchase it? Will my serial # be enough to show it is a mini server and under warrantee be enough to get it back?

If it's not listed in Purchases, check that it's hidden, and if so, unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928 After that, go to Purchases and download OS X Server.
If you can't download it, contact with the Mac App Store support > http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact

  • Sun Ray Server Software and Sun Desktop Manager integration

    Hello,
I have installed and configured SRSS and Desktop Manager..and they're working.
    But... how to integrate them?...

Will the Sun Ray Server Software 1.2 for Workgroup
Servers work on a Sun Blade 100?Yes, it'll work. An SB100 won't support many
concurrent Sun Ray users but it'll be OK for a
handful of users doing normal (non-multimedia)
work. Put as much physical memory into the box
as you can afford, and remember to configure an
    appropriate amount of swap.

  • SQL Server Software ISO, How to find out what is the Edition and Version of the SQL software before starting installation

    Hi All-
Before starting installation, I would like to find out What EDITION and VERSION  is the SQL Server Software ISO.
Please note this is not to find out what version is the installed sql server but before the installation: Is there a note or abrv. that describes what kind of Edition and version is the ISO?
    Detail explanation is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    belayzeleka

@Balmukund - Thanks for the input - That one is a nice blog!
But assuming you can`t change the Product Key value (you are not provided that number, as you know it gets populated by itself) can you find out
what implies the corresponding edition? If there is a folder where this reference is store, could you provide the full file path where  this folder is located?
The ideal solution would be a way to find out what the Edition
    is befor we start installation.
    Thanks!
Also just to add what I came across:
The SQL Server 2012 installation software comes with pretty much all edition in it, that kind of makes it difficult to easily identify what edition is the specific ISO, but when
one downloads from MSDN one must downloads the
    right edition either Standard,
Enterprise, etc so that when you install it, it installs whatever edition is downloaded.
The best source would be whoever downloaded the software.
Also, before going too far, you can find out what edition it is being installed right before the setup wizard finishes on the
License Terms page (Microsoft Software License Terms Page) and if the edition is not the one you intended to install, you can cancel it there and everything will be rolled back- no hastle.

I don't use Quicken, but believe there is now a version that is compatible with Lion.

If you are using PureFTP, then use it.
Server Admin is NOT designed to work in conjunction with non-Apple, 3rd-party products, or non-Apple configs of 3rd-party items such as Postfix or Amavisd, and certainly not for non-Apple-provided ftp services. Ignore Server Admin completely for FTP if you are using PureFTP.

  • Installing Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 using one JumpStart server

    Hi All,
Is there any possibility to install both Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 using only one JumpStart server?
Also it could be performed using flash archives?
    Thanks in andvice,
    Daniel

Actually I do not understand how it will work
    together.
Maybe I will describe my point of view.
I have Solaris 10 with JumpStart server which is
    configured and works fine.
So the next step to have Solaris 9 installation is:
    * copy Solaris 9 OS boot and installation image to
    the local disk using setup_install_server
Q: If this script fails what to do?setup_install_server should work fine unless you're installing on a ZFS filesystem. Part of the script is checking for sufficient disk space. I think the script may not work properly in all situations with ZFS.
    * run add_install_client script from the Solaris 9
    installation directory
Q: do I need to do any other changes?Nope. Assuming you're already running tftp for the Solaris 10 stuff, nothing has to be enabled.
So I have two OS on the JumpStart server that I can
    choose to install.Yes.
JumpStart is configured to install Solaris 10. If I
would like to install Solaris 9 on the same machine
should I only run add_install_client script from the
Solaris 9 installation directory? If everything works right, that should remove the older entry from the bootparams database and the machine will jumpstart with Solaris 9.
