  • New AEBS configured - Problem to connect via Airport

    Hi,
I recently bought the new AEBS (square) and an original Airport card (802.11b) to use in my Imac G4 800mhz.
Installation of the Airport card looks correct as I can see the Airport is activated.
The configuration of the AEBS is then a little bit more complicated :
First, when I plugged on the AEBS, I had a flashing amber light, and the Airport utility could not find the base so that I could set it up via the Airport.
Then after reinitializing the AEBS, I had still the flashing amber light, and the Airport utility could see the base (with the amber light) but never let me configure it (even going through the manual configuration to understand the origin of the flashing light - as recomended in the manual guide).
After several attempts, I finally plugged my Imac to the AEBS through an Ethernet cable, and at last I could access to the AEBS.
It made me download the Airport utility update (5.2.1) and gave me access to the settings.
I then configured my network with a WEP encryption and it actually works with my professional PC.
The light of the AEBS is now green.
Unfortunately, when I disconnect the Ethernet cable and try to connect via the Airport, I always get an error message without much explanation.
Also my Airport does not always find the base immediately, it needs several attempts to find it but never allows me to connect.
Thanks for your help to find a solution to this problem.
    PM

    My problem is solved.
Part of the answer was in my previous post.
The Airport card 802.11b admits canal from 1 to 11 whereas the new 802.11n goes up to canal 13.
In default settings the AEBS is set on canal 13, and therefore unreadable from the Airport card.
The solution is then to make the setting of your network through the Ethernet cable without forgetting to change the canal of the AEBS to 11.
Then you just need to get rid of the Ethernet cable and connect to your new network via the Airport.
Now it works just fine. Hope this last post can help.

  • Installed new security patch problem

So they should update to iOS 7.0.6.
It's the customer's choice to update or not update.  If they want the security patch, they update.  If they don't, then they don't.
Only the customer can decide what is more important to them; retaining iOS 6 on their device or improving the security of the device.
The only 'rock & hard place' are because of their personal choices.
Oldhippie, only YOU can decide that.  IMHO, security is more important than aesthetics.  But you need to be comofrtable with the decision, and no one here can help with that.

  • New Group Policy not working on 2008 RDS in 2012 Domain - Security Filtering problem?

We have a Windows 2008 R2 RDS in a Windows 2012R2 Domain. We want to lockdown the 2008 RDS for Domain users that we have added to a new  security Group--named "Data Collection Users". These users are "Domain Users" and login to the
2008 RDS using Windows XP SP3 machines to run a specific application -they do not use their local desktops for anything. WE added this group to the local RDU group on the RDS.  We do not have any other users that login to the RDS through terminal,
    including any Domain Admins.
So far we have done these steps:
On the DC, created new OU (called Terminal Servers) and moved the RDS into it.
Opened Group Policy on the DC, and under GP Objects, created a new policy called "TS Users Lockdown".
Linked the Policy to the OU.
Under Security Filtering we removed the Authenticated Users, added the RDS computer account (called QS2), added the "Data Collection Users" and chose Allow for "Read" and "Apply Policy"
Under Security Filtering, for Domain Admins, we chose Deny for "Apply Group Policy"
We edited the Policy (under Computer Configuration>AT>SYS>GP) to Enable Loopback processing - Replace mode.
We first tested the policy by trying to remove the "Run" from startup menu and "prohibit access to Control Panel".
We ran the Group Policy force update from within GP Management - ran successfully.
We did not reboot the RDS.
Neither of the settings we tried in Step 7 worked.  Why Not?
Here are images from the Security Filtering:

Ok--Do I reboot the RDS or the DC?  or both?
Does it look like my Security Filtering is correct?  I have seen posts where you should not remove the "Authenticated users"?

You may have inadvertently installed adware. You do not need to download or install anything to fix it. It ought not to be related to any Apple security update.
For a description of how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for Apple's recommended actions read How to install adware. Apple's instructions are linked in the Recovery Procedure near the end of that document. Read and follow them carefully. Pay particular attention to the easily overlooked passages directing you to restart your Mac when required.

I purchased an IPAD 2 about three weeks ago.  When I go to my Trash and Send foloders it appears that none of my deleted or sent e mails are bing captured/stored in these folders.  do i have a configuration problem???

Once you connect to the Wifi Network once, then the iPhone or iPad remembers it and attempts to connect automatically in the future, but you have to tap to connect to that Wifi the first time. Like the first time you get on your home wifi, or the first time you go the a certain hotel, etc.
Now, one you navigate to Settings > Wifi and tap on the network you wish to connect to, if you are having issues there, use this article to help you: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

    Hello,
    just to keep you inform.
I put that project on the side for a while... But this morning, I tried Branislav recommendation.
So, I completely uninstall my McAffe Firewall and reboot the computer.
After that, I completely re-install the application server and everything work fine. It only took around 2-3 seconds to do the resyncinstance and updateconfig, compare to 3 hours the last time just for the resyncinstance. Total time for the infrastructure installation was around 1 hour.
Like Branislav said, only stopping the McAfee Firewall was not enough.

  • Create new Security Policy in UME is not available

    Hello,
We are on NW CE 7.1 EHP1 and MII 12.1.7 build 47.
I have MII Super Administrator role, few custom roles and I also have Action "Manage_All" and I am able to perform most of the activities on UME but I don't see any option to create new security policies all I can do is modify the Default Security Policy and save it.
It never shows me an option to create new security policy and I am not sure what roles or actions I am missing.
    1) Are there any roles or actions that my profile needs to have?
    2) Is it something to do with NW CE version or MII version?
    3) Has something gone wrong or have we missed some configuration while installing NW CE or MII?
Any suggestions will be of great help
    Thanks,
    Adarsh

    Adarsh,
I am not a NW UME expert, but I know this issue has nothing to do with MII.  Not sure if you have rights but providing the Administrators Group for the UME database should allow you to do this.
I would try posting this thread on the NW UME Forum.  Modifying policies in NW has nothing to do with MII.
Just to verify what policies are you trying to change, I am assuming they are in NW UME and not MII, is this correct?  If they are in MII can you be more specific.
    Good luck.

  • Java Security Configuration Assistant fails to install

    Hello,
I have a problem because Oracle Application Server 10g for Windows doesnt install. I have tried several times on various systems, but every time I have the same error when the installer comes to the "Java Security Configuration Assistant"
    The command being spawned is:
    C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1/jdk/bin/javaw -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -classpath C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\dcm\lib\dcm.jar;C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\j2ee\home\jazn.jar;C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\j2ee\home\lib\jaas.jar;C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar;C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\jlib\ojmisc.jar -Doracle.security.jazn.config=C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\j2ee\home\jazn\install\jazn.xml oracle.security.jazn.util.JAZNInstallHelper -log C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\cfgtoollogs\jaznca.log -realm jazn.com -user admin -oldpwd welcome -newpwd 05f2d5c792fb24147255fbe8169f54594b -oh C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1 -clearpwd false
Only the first parameter is interesting :
    C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1/jdk/bin/javaw
It has a mixture of slahes (/) and backslashes (\), the first half C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\ is ok but the second half Db_1/jdk/bin/javaw is not compatible with windows (slahes are for unix path only), so it obviously doesnt work because this path with a mixture of / and \ is not correct. At this point, the installation of Oracle AS fails.
Does anybody know a cause for this, or a workaround to get AS installed ? Thanks

The mixture of slashes and backslashes isn't an issue for Windows. I have examined the failure of the assistant, but with the new release of AS10g (release 2), I would like to know if you still have the problem you describe.

  • New security features added in JD Edwards World A9.3

    Hi,
We have to migrate the security policy settings from A 7.3 to A 9.3.
I read that we can take the advantage of new security model which is much robust and flexible than the earlier versions.
So please advise on the following:
    a)migrate usernames/passwords.
    b)maintain security policy settings.
    c)migrate menus
    Thanks,

My goodness, this is something that you really need to contact support for help with. You don't mention what JDE World 7.3 cum version you are on, what version of OS/400 you are on, and what IBM hardware you are on. Could be all sorts of things. What sort can do is start a web session and see what is actually going on in your system, and be able to look at the various settings and configurations that you have. Something that we cannot do on this forum. Support is very well equipped to deal with this kind of problem. On this forum, we can speculate as to possible causes, but those speculations may not apply to your specific problem, and cause you to waste time chasing a dead end.

  • Internet/Router issues and new "secure email"

I'm supposed to have a 35MPS internet plan. When I switched to the higher speed plan, I paid for the Verizon router and installation.  I have both a Mac and Windows 7 Laptops as well as an older netbook.  To say that the wireless connectivity sucks would be complimentary.  I've used the automatic troubleshooter....I've looked through forums and followed advice on settings etc...with no joy.  Before I "upgraded" I had my own belkin n router.  Even though the router is downstairs in an office , with the belkin, I could connect on my back deck and all but the furthest upstairs rooms in the house.  Since I "upgraded"  the wireless won't stay connected with line of sight 8 feet from the router so we have cables trailing thru the living room.  For the brief moments when wireless is connected it is slower than dial-up.  The cabled connection seldom exceeds 10MBPS ( this is where they tell me the plan is "up to" 35MBPS")
We have a mountain home with DSL and a VERY basic wireless router.  Both the Mac and PC connect effortlessly and even my very untechsavvy wife mentioned how much faster the 3MPBS DSL service is than FIOS.  Her next question "Tell me again why are we paying so much for FIOS?"
The latest debacle (forget that companies choose to not learn from others mistakes, think Netflix here) is the new secure email settings. I updated my Mac and my android in strict compliance with the Verizon directions and for a few minutes all was well.  Today I can't connect through my android.  An "authentication error receiving" message show up with a note to check my settings only I HAVEN"T CHANGED MY FLIPPING SETTINGS!  Now I have to go in and re-enter my account password several times a day to get into my email account when the PW is stored in my phone!  I consantly have to rest the Mac as well. (Hmmm no yahoo, gmail  issues and they are free....)
To be fair I haven't called in the issue with the wireless connectivity because I have called before on other issues and frankly I don't have the time to wait on hold.  The last time I had a "technical problem" with my service I ended up telling the tier 2 tech how to fix the problem.
As a Quality Assurance /Customer Service professional,  the one thing I can tell Verizon is that there is no marketing campaign that will overcome word of mouth reports on poor service and response.  I installed FIOS years ago when it was first available in my neighborhood.   Service was reliable, customer service responsive and capable.  That all seems to have gone by the wayside to improve the bottom line.  Volume can go a long way to masking attrition for quite a while, but it isn't sustainable.  The cable companies in my area have an even worse reputation which is the only reason I've not yet left...and that's a really crappy reason to stay.
I understand that it's the processes and the system which are hosed up.  The poor CS reps are customer facing and they take it on the chin for every corporate decision viewed as stupid by customers. There may be a few really bad customer service reps, but the majority of  CS reps DON’T come to work to see how many customers they can **bleep** off.   CS Reps are only as good as the process under which they must work.  When working with organizations and speaking with CS reps one question I always ask is "How long would you put up with what you put out if you were dealing with another company?"  Then I suggest that the leaders/managers attempt to call in with a problem using only the same avenues available to paying customers.
Companies should also must realize that the "cancellation fee" they threaten people with is usually about a month and a half worth of service.  After that it's money back in the consumers pocket, or more likely into competitions pocket and not in Verizon’s pocket.  It’s the principle of the fee that keeps customers hanging on.
Now that I’ve vented if anyone can tell me a better router to use than the one Verizon gave me, I’m all ears.  I really don’t care about remote accessing my DVR.

Since you already have the Belkin and know that it works well, I would suggest hooking that up to the Verizon-supplied router and using that. Turn off the wireless from the Verizon router.
