SUP in untrusted forest using SCCM 2012 SP1

Hi, I have a single primary site in a single domain/AD forest. I also have a single site system in an untrusted forest behind a firewall.
I have installed a DP and an MP onto this server in the untrusted forest and have now installed WSUS and added the SUP role. The SUP role has been installed, however the SUP in the untrusted forest isnt synching its catalog from the SUP in the primary
site.
In the Software Update Point Synchronisation Status, its source is specified as Microsoft Update, rather than the name of the Priamry Site server with the SUP role.
The relevant ports 80/443/8530/8531 are open between the two forests, but it doesnt appear to attempt to sync from the primary site.
How do I get this SUP to sync from the Primary site? I've tried setting a WSUS Server Connection Account, but this doesnt appear to make any difference.

I had to remove the use of the proxy server at the primary SUP so that it downloads directly from the internet without the use of a proxy.
As soon as this was removed the untrusted SUP synchronised successfully. Even though the proxy isnt specified in the SUP properties of the untrusted site system, it still appears to use this when performing a sync.

Deploy Java Updates using SCCM 2012 SP1 and SCUP 2011

What is the best way to deploy Java updates using sccm 2012 SP1 and SCUP 2011?

I didn´t find Kent´s blog useful when talking about Java. I can deploy Adobe products fine, but I have to import Java manually because not having Shavlik certificate. So with that said, I have the fallowing problem;
I have full offline installer unpacked, .msi file and Data1.cab. When I´m importing these binaries to SCUP, I only can point to .msi. Doing that, installation fails in client side fails because of lack of data1.cab fine, which is the main file.
Should I use some other downloaded files of Java? I couldn´t find any Java-update-file only type of files to download.

Prestaged OSD using SCCM 2012 SP1 windows Partition variable is not being set

Hello All I need some assistance with a workaround.
I am using a presaged task sequence created from a working network / PXE deployment TS for windows 7.
This TS sets a variable for the OS partition called "Windows" and the value is set in the Partition Disk task.
Problem is this value is not being read from a prestaged due to the OEMMedia condition skipping this partition and format task.
Question is how do I get it to read and or set the value for that partition?
From what I have found on Google this was an issue in beta of MDT but was fixed in RTM. I am not using MDT TS but I do have it installed. Any idea if this is a known issue with SCCM 2012 sp1 TS?
Edit: also noticed that the variable's case is different and will not let me change it.
Variable under format is "windows" variable under Apply OS is "Windows" when I change them to be the same then close and reopen they revert back to the above. Are these variables case sensitive?
Edit: for now I have changed it from variable to next available partition. I tested it twice so far it seems to be using the correct partition and it remains to be called the C drive. For now this will be my solution.

When you say "presaged task sequence created from a working network / PXE deployment TS" are you saying this is still a network boot process? Or have you done "Create Task Sequence Media"?

How to Deploy exe application using SCCM 2012 SP1

Hi,
While creating deployment type wizard (for exe application deployment) , i am not able to see the "Windows Installer (native)" option in the drop down menu. Kindly refer snapshot. If i select "script installer" , deployment is not working.
I am taking it for adobe reader 9.1 exe application. Can anyone please suggest which option should i take.

I believe the thinking was that most people wrap their .exe in an .msi anyway, so that would have been way more common.

That seems bizarre to me. I guess, if this thinking occurred, it might have been based on the idea that lots of people are using Group Policy Software Installation (Intellimirror), since GPSI does a less-horrible job when you use MSI.
But, a lot of software I've seen, uses a setup.exe bootstrapper to launch one or more MSI's.
So, MSI wraps EXE wraps MSI would be the outcome of this thinking.
Which is why I chose the word... bizarre.

SCCM 2012 SP1 SUP on Windows Server 2012

Hi sccm guys,
I'm having Troubles to get the SUP role working on my Windows Server 2012. I'm using SCCM 2012 SP1. I installed (and did not configure) the WSUS role from the Server Manager. I Chose to install the DB on the local SQL instance (no WID instance).
Then I added the SUP role to the Server and configured it with the seperate wsus Administration site (Ports 8530 and 8531).
WSUS gets configured partially (Proxy Settings and "Products and Classification" Options only for Office and Windows)
The folowing error pops up in the wcm.log
Failed to set Subscriptions on the WSUS Server. Error:(-2147467259)Unspecified error
Any clues?

Can I have an SCCM 2012 R2 server and a SCCM 2012 SP1 server in the same site?

We are currently using SCCM 2012 SP1/MDT 2012 Update 1 to deploy Windows 7, and to migrate existing XP installs to Windows 7 (using the offline USMT functionality in MDT). We are moving forward with Windows 8.1, and understand that
we need to upgrade our SCCM infrastructure to SCCM 2012 R2/MDT 2013. We also understand that this will cause us to lose the ability to migrate XP machines, since MDT 2013 uses a newer version of USMT that doesn’t support XP.
What do we need to do to continue to support our XP migrations, and enable deployments of Windows 8.1?
Can we have two SCCM servers in the same Site running different versions of SCCM? Do we need a separate site?

You don't explicitly need ConfigMgr 2012 R2 to support Win 8.1. SP1 CU3 will suffice although managing a few things like boot images is a little more difficult: http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2013/10/21/how-to-enable-windows-8.1-deployment-in-sc-2012-configmgr-sp1-cu3.aspx
You could create two separate site hierarchies, but that would be painful and involve tons of duplication. There would be other issues also if the systems are located on the same subnets and in the same AD forest.
The best option is to get rid of XP. EOL is in less than 30 days!
Next best is to stay on SP1 CU3 until you get rid of XP. I know that sucks, but keeping XP around is the root cause of this and many other coming issues in any organization wanting to keep it around.

SCCM 2012 SP1 errors when downloading updates

Currently using SCCM 2012 SP1 with CU2 and I am having some update download issue with Automatic Deployment Rules.
The Environment is:
Server 2008 R2
SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2 (Upgraded from SCCM 2012 CU2)
I created an Automatic Deployment Rule for Adobe Flash. Since I was having the same issue with Adobe Reader, when I published via SCUP to WSUS I chose not to sign the updates.
After publishing to WSUS I then sync SCCM, I see the updates and then in the ADR I had it download the updates and I see this error:

Now the funny thing is if I go to the update itself within update group that Flash is a member I can right click it and choose download and the error doesn't occur.
I observed that the UNC path for ADR Adobe flash, when the rule is ran, is populated with folders that have a name something like 44738297895427890.1 or 423154325378u867234789.1. I have come to realize that those are failed downloads. So for the
heck of it I then right clicked the update itself and chose download and it downloaded without issue. Now I'm guessing that when I chose to download directly from the update maybe the system is getting the update from adobe and not from wherever the rule was
trying to get it from. I then see the .1 removed from the directory name and there are updates within them.
Just for clarity here are the steps I go through from SCUP to Syncing...
Log in to WSUS server
Run SCUP as administrator
Get notified there are updates from Adobe and let SCUP download updates
Find the updates the specify the following publishing options
Full Content
Sign all software updates with a new publishing certificate .... (Is this necessary by the way?)
Then click Next
After that's done I then go to SCCM Manager Console and go to Software Updates and right click to Synchronize them.
After that's done then I run the ADR for Adobe Flash and when it goes to download the updates that's when the error occurs.
What am I missing?
Also, while I wait for help I just recently added the WSUS SCUP certificate to the SCCM server to see if by chance that fixes stuff. If it does then I'll post the results of adding the certificate to the SCCM server.
One other thing, is there a way to delete updates? When I was having this issue in the past, I went in to SCUP I marked the updates as expired and then deleted the updates. Went to SCCM and synchronized the updates and they went from not expired to expired
then I waited, maybe 30 days or so before I could add the updates back in.

Deployed Windows 7 Image failing to start -SCCM 2012 SP1

Hello, I am deploying windows 7 image using SCCM 2012 SP1, the installation goes thru fine but when it is in the process of restart, a blue screen is displayed for a split second and then it tries to reboot again with same results. Are there any logs on
the SCCM server I can check to see where the problem may be?

This generally means inaccessible boot device. How are you partitioning the drive and applying the image?

SCCM 2012 SP1 - How many servers do I need?

I'm planning a SCCM test environment using SCCM 2012 SP1 with the goal of using DCIP 3.1. DCIP 3.1 only supports up to SCCM 2012 SP1. I'm new to SCCM and I'm planning to follow Kevin Holman's ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 -QuickStart deployment Guide (Sorry, I can't
post links on the forum yet.)
I'm using a virtual environment to build this out so I can create more machines as needed.
In the guide two systems are used, DB3 and CM1 each with designated services. Could those services be safely installed on one machine instead of two? Why choose to split the SQL and Database Services, from the Primary Site Server, Management Server, and Web
Console Server?

Hardware inventory not reflecting in reports in SCCM 2012 SP1

Hi,
I am using SCCM 2012 SP1. During hardware inventory my client sending logs to MP server(i checked in InventoryAgent.log).
From server end its also showing successful in logs (MP_Hinv.log). But when i m using resource explorer by clicking on a particular device its not giving information about inventory. Its giving only three option (Kindly refer snapshot).

We're just not wanting to lead anyone else astray into thinking that this really is the solution if they were to run into the same scenario. We're all very happy that you have things working now, but were just trying to really understand how it got fixed

App-V 5 Virtual Environments in SCCM 2012 SP1

I am attempting to use SCCM 2012 SP1 to Deploy App-V v5 Applications. So far deploying applications to user groups (like I did with 4.6) seem to work well. The only issue that I am having is deploying Virtual Environments (the new way of
"dynamic sequencing). My problem is that on the client side, the App Connection Groups are not being populated. What can I do to fix this? The applications are deployed to a user group collection and not a machine collection. From
what I have found this is possible but it is not working for me. Anything to help is GREATLY appreciated!!

SCCM 2012 SP1 - SUP Error

i upgraded my SCCM 2012 test Environment to SP1. I have only one Primary Site Server which holds all Roles. Everything seems to work fine except the SUP Role. If i try to synchronize the latest Updates it says that it cannot find a WSUS Server

So in General this tells me that it can find a SUP but this one is not specified as a DEFAULT SUP. How can i tell SCCM that this is my Default SUP? (I only have this one and it is configured to sync from Microsoft Update site). I have never seen
this before so i guess this is related to SP1?
PS: I also installed the 2 necessary WSUS Updates before i upgraded to SCCM SP1.

None of your solutions apply to WSUS 4.0 on Server 2012
None of the specified patches applies or will run on a Windows 2012 Std server. They either report that WSUS 3 SP 2 isn't installed OR that the patch isn't applicable to the server version installed.

How to Custom Report using sql server report builder for SCCM 2012 SP1

I am new to database, if i want to create a manual report using sql server report builder for SCCM 2012 SP1, what step should i take.
i want to create a report in which computer name, total disk space, physical disk serial no come together. i already added class (physical disk serial no.) in hardware inventory classes. refer snapshot

Here is a guide on how to create custom reports in Configuration Manager 2012, it is a great place to start, change to the data you want to display instead.

SCCM 2012 SP1 WSUS/Software Update Point Synchronization error on CAS.

Good day to all you.
I would like to seek all your help on this issue that i have encountering.
My SCCM 2012 SP1 CAS are having a synchronization error in WSUS/Software update point. The CAS have intergrated WSUS role in it. The last good synchronization was on July 16, 2014. No error log found on WCM.log and WSUSctrl.log
Error:
Sync failed: UssNotFound: WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.~~at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall).
