SUP's Licensing Option.

Hi Guru's,
Can you please explain or point me in the direction of understanding the licensing mechanism with SUP? I know that there are 4 types of licensing:
1. Personal Developer Edition.
2. Enterprise Developer Edition.
3. Enterprise Edition.
4. Annual Subscription Edition.
Option 1 and 2 can be used for development and testing. The Personal Developer Edition &  Enterprise Developer Edition  is limited to use by single Standalone Seat with 5 and 20 connection limit. What does Standalone Seat mean? Do i need to procure 1 license for each developer?
Also if I am starting up a development project(Sybase) what are the licenses and softwares i need to procure?
Thanks in advanced.
Confused Soul.

Hi Alessandro,
I am new to SUP; We have a requirement to develop one application for black berry
we would like to make this app generic so that we can deploy it to some other device like iphone, windows mobile etc...
Is it possible to develop a generic application using SUP ?
Hi!
Yes it is possible, but currently the  Device Application allows to model and generate the application (not customized) only for BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, while the generation of the business layer is also available for iPhone. To write an application for iPhone and iPad you must move the code of data layer generated with SUP on a Mac and then work with XCode. Once you have modeled the business layer, you can generate code for any platform.
We are in a starting stage; would really like to know the system landscape and the best way to configure the server etc...
No luck on getting trail version of sybase unwired platform, any light on how to get the trail version, best way to configure the system is greatly appreciated

If you continue to fail, contact me!
Thank you !!!

  • I'd like to see a floating license option for XML Author.

I am an experienced structured FM user. I am trying to set up a structured authoring environment for a small engineering firm. I write and edit documentation for aviation engineering projects. I work with six to eight engineers and designers who contribute content to our technical publications.
I want to minimize authoring overhead by eliminating manual formatting from my contributor workflow. Ideally, I would manage EDDs, DTDs, templates etc. and deploy several XML author licenses to collect content. However, the cost of an XML author license per each potential contributor is prohibitive for my small firm. I would love to be able to deploy XML Author through Creative Cloud either as a single-app license or as part of a team license.
Several other authoring platforms including Flare (no structured support, I know) offer a floating license option. I think a floating license option would make the Structured Frame/XML Author combo more competitive for Adobe and more attractive to small firms like mine.

Tell someone who make iphone apps.

  • Is there a family license option of creative cloud available for purchase

Is there a family license option of creative cloud available for purchase

As of now, no. There are two license options for Creative Cloud: individual regular licenses, and volume licenses targeted at businesses: http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/companies.html
The Creative Cloud license agreement allows for subscribers to download and install Adobe applications from Creative Cloud on up to two computers. These applications can be used by you and your family, but the same application cannot be running simultaneously on both computers.

  • Licensing Options for .air (& .pdf) files?

    Hello,
Does anyone have any ideas for licensing software for .air files that will be distributed?  Using .swf licensing option might also work. Most everything out there is for .exe, and is really expensive.
I'm also looking for licensing options for use in PDFs that will be distributed.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I'd start here:
    http://www.adobe.com/licensing/
    (runtimes licensing and distributions)
    http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/antipiracy/faq.html
    (Acrobat family licensing/distributions FAQ)
PDF is advertised as open format:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/pdf.html
    (PDF Technology Center)
    and other forum could help:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat
Generally speaking reading EULA-s for software you're using to produce contain help to find what software is used/components licensed for use with runtime/etc (so we could avoid patent trolls - while Adobe could be hit only - in theory):

  • Weblogic Application Server Development License Options

Would like to understand what is the cost effective way to procure development license of Weblogic App Server?
Requirement: Want to use WL App Server for Development Purpose. Ideally would like to install in the Developer Machine - primarily aimed at improving productivity. Eclipse with Weblogic Pluggin can enable Start/Stop/Deploy options directly from the IDE.
Checked up with Oracle Sales to findout the cost of each installment in a developer PC would cost a whopping 12K USD. TCO will go considerably high based on this kind of license policy. Hence would like to understand how organizations are managing this high cost of Development License of WL App Server?

First off, the list price of the standard edition is only $10k per CPU
Second, nobody pays list price for Oracle software, there is always room for negotiation. How big a discount you're going to get is going to depend on your ability to negotiate and what pressure your sales rep is under. Realistically, if you're plausibly considering other application servers and your sales rep is having difficulty making his quota in this economy, you probably have a decent amount of leverage.
I would strongly suspect that if you're looking to purchase 6 figures worth of software for your production environment (i.e. 4 processors @ $25k/processor for the enterprise edition) that you can probably negotiate with the sales rep to get licenses for the developers' laptops at a drastically reduced price if not for free.

  • Licensing Options

    Hello,
One of my perspective client is looking for Hyperion Planning and Budgeting. I am looking at costing options and found something related to Hyperion Planning Plus.
I have few questions on that costing options. May be some one here can help me out
Client is looking for 10 licenses. Can Oracle sell only 10? I see the excel template has minimum requirement of 25. What would be the cost for 10 if they are willing to provide 10? Any other extra costs associated with that licenses? I am looking at only classic planning application. Nothing more than that.
    Thanks,
    Naveen

If you only want 10 the cost goes up by 2.5x.
Just kidding.  I have no idea.  Seriously, you need to discuss with Oracle Sales.
I know of situations in which fewer than 25 seats were sold, but not sure how recently.  If its a brand new client with potential for the seats to increase over time it may be more tempting, but that's a total guess on my part.

  • Deployment/Licensing Options

    Hi,
I've got a multiprocessor licensed oracle 10g R2 instance running on my production server. I want to set up OHS on a separate machine (only OHS no DB server) and make it my APEX server for production purpose.
    Is this a viable option?
    thanks

    Hi,
Deployment wise, your Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) can reside on any machine that can be accessed from the client machines (eg end users). The OHS in turn will need to be able to reach the db server where APEX is installed. This is a common practice and works perfect if you set this correctly. See the "Install and Configure for use with Oracle Application Server 10g" (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/howto_useoas10g.html)
Just thing the Oracle Application Server as the OHS on a separate machine. The important part here is the copying of the images and setting the virtual directory /i/ accordingly.
License wise, if you use the OHS from the db companion CD then you are good to go. But do check with Oracle Support Services (Licensing) team.

  • SAP License option disable in SU01

Hi All - I am involved in SAP License stuff, I am thinking to disable option this activity to helpdesk and sec admins. Is there anyway I can disable/grey out this option in SU01.
So that I can assign this task only to me not to helpdesk....
    I will appreciate forum ideas..
    Thanks Again.

    HI Anil,
That's possible by creating and assigning Screen variant to the T-code. But that Grayout/Invisible for all the users. In this case you create one customized T-code with out that Screen Variant.

  • Licensing options for Adobe Creative Suite Software - Concurrent license

We have bought Adobe Web Premium CS4 product and at the moment it’s our intention to upgrade this product to the new release.
This product is licensed to one PC and it’s used, mostly, to repair acrobat documents and sometimes a few pictures which mean it’s not used intensively.
As we have another service that needs to use adobe Dreamweaver, Flash and Photoshop we would like to know if there is any kind of license that can be installed in one server and be used by other PCs, as long as the license is available and not in use by other PC.
We have other products with this kind of functionality, like AutoCAD, ArcGIS.
Does Adobe have any kind of this licensing method?
    With my best regards,
    Pedro

At this point you can no longer buy CS5, only CS6.

In licensing datasheet they indicate both for Onpremise and cloud only a license with SA.

  • Ironport Licensing options

                       Hello Forum Team!
Can licenses types be mixed on the same Ironport? For example, if the client already has a number of ESA-ESI-LIC= licensed users and needs to add additional users, can the new additional licenses be ESA-ESP-LIC=?
    Thanks for your support!

Yes - you can have mixed, additional licenses added to an appliance at anytime.  You would need to have them issued from your reseller, or Account/Sales Ops team - then just add the new/valid feature key provided direct to the appliance.  Or, once issued - just run the "Check Now" for the new feature keys.

  • Cheapest Volume Licensing option for 8.1

Unreal the ridiculousness that is the Microsoft Licensing program...
I am wanting to figure out the cheapest method to get a 5 PC volume license. I already have 5 PCs with 8.1 Retail Pro loaded on them. I basically just want imaging rights at this point and to be able to add to the volume later as my businesss grows.
I'm confused as I keep seeing 2 and 3 year term agreements. Can I not simply pay one price at one time to get a volume license? I'm not interested in paying Microsoft annually for software. I'll abandon my endeavor if that's the case as it isn't worth it to me to be locked into an annual contract/subscription.
What exactly do I need to ask a reseller for I guess is the question I'm asking based on my above criteria?

  • Asr 1002 license options

    Hi all,
I'm trying to get clarification with the licensing surrounding the ASR units.
Which features of the ASR 1002 are enforced by PAK file or similar?  I'm going to be doing some testing in the Lab with a couple of borrowed units and I just need to know what I'll be able to do.
From my undertanding and upgrade from 5G to 10G would require a PAK file for upgrade and so to would a move from IP Base to enterprise or adv IP services.  The remainder of the upgrades (for example enabling broadband services) are honor based.
If someone could confirm this that would be great.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Yes, it does.
The feature licenses for ASR1K can be viewed at Table 2 on the URL http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps9343/product_bulletin_c25-448292.html
You would need a license to enable broadband (FLASR1-BB-RTU) and another license with the appropriate number of sessions.
    Cheers

  • Licensing options for Server 2012 Standard Edition

    I am working a proposal to a new client. Currently they have a single physical server, and 15 workstations, connected to AD;
Server 2012 standard running hyper-V - evaluation (and not attached to the domain)
On it are two virtual machines -
Domain Controller 2008 32bit - license is activated.
    2nd server 2008 R2 64bit - evaluation  (attached to the domain)
If they purchase a 2012 Server Standard license, with 15 user cals, I should be able to activate the two unlicensed servers?

...  If you make the host a domain controller and run Hyper-V you lose your "free" VM instances...
It is my understanding that you lose one of your VM instances, not both. I was led to believe that the purpose of this restriction is to prevent someone from getting a three-for-two deal on licenses, not to lock them out of guest privileges entirely.
but in you instance the host is not licensed and one of the vm's are not licensed so you still need to get a license for the host however you go about it.
This is not quite true as worded. It's true that you have to get a license for the host in general, because Windows Server licenses always apply to a specific piece of hardware, never to a virtual machine. However, it's not necessarily true that you have
to license the management operating system (I think the licensing document calls this the physical OSE, or something like that).
If you have purchased one license of Windows Server Standard 2012 or 2012 R2 non-OEM, then you are licensed to run a maximum of two virtual instances of that same server operating system version/edition or lower on a single host with up to 2 physical CPUs.
You are also allowed to run that same operating system version/edition or lower as the management operating system without purchasing an additional license as long as it runs nothing but Hyper-V Server and services needed manage/maintain its own virtual machines.
If you do anything else in the management OS that provides services to other systems (like ADDS), then one of the guest licensing privileges is lost to cover the management OS. Any OEM licensing may have its own restrictions.
For licensing questions, it is always best to contact an authorized Microsoft reseller and ask to speak to a licensing expert. They go through training specifically for this. The call is usually free. The fines for license violations most
certainly are not. "Read it on a forum" is not good audit defense.
