Super slow from day one Broadband.

Having changed from Tiscali a few weeks ago having a constant 4/5m+mb    ...was promised better things by the BT gent on the phone....but since changing highest speed ever barely 1mb how frustrating is that ....Helpppppppppppppppp ?

  • Inbuilt speakers, microphone & SD card reader slot is not working from day one

    Dear friend
    I bought my HP mini (model no. Hp Mini 110-3009TU; Sr. No. CNC02139GY) on 14th august 2010 from Home Comforts, MP Nagar Bhaopl, Madhya Pradesh, India. I bought it without any operating system and installed Linux [Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)] on it. I'd like to inform you that it has two problems form day one.
    First problem is with inbuilt speakers & microphone, which are not functioning. However my headphone are working with this laptop. So I believe there is no problem with sound related driver. I think it is a hardware problem.
    Second problem is in SD card reader slot, which doesn't read inserted SD card.
    I've gone to HP service centre situated in MP Nagar, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. Experts over there said that they'll have to formate existing operating system (Linux) and need to install Windows to 'check' whether the said hardware(speakers, microphone & SD card reader) are working or not. Otherwise I've to bring one more laptop so same brand and same model, then only they can check by replacing parts.
    Both the options they'd given were ridiculous! I didn't understood why they are forcing me to install Windows?
    If HP is also selling laptops without any operating system, then it means the costumer is free to install any operating system of his/her choice. And why should I bring one more laptop? Doesn't your service centre equipped with proper instruments and expertise to check hardware of a laptop?
    Pretty girls working in your service centre were totally unaware of card reader – how does it functions?
    Even they didn't had any SD card to insert and check.
    One among them told me in soft voice: “Sir, you'll have to purchase one 'Jack' for this.” When I inquired further what is 'Jack' and why should I have to purchase it when all other laptops doesn't need such jack? She gone mute as my inbuilt speakers.
    Even if I do allow your service centre to install Windows to try out whether speakers, microphone and card reader is working or not, its sure 'experts' at your service centre will install pirated version of Windows. Is it not a malpractice? Does HP allow its service centre to do so??
    And further, even if I ignore your malfunctioning for my benefit, could your service centre assure me that inbuilt speakers, microphone and card reader will function properly in Linux as well. Because I would like to continue using Linux.
    I request you to look into the matter and tell me what to do.

  • AFP Login slow from only one workstation

    Have one OS-X 10.6.4 server and multiple 10.6.4 client machines on 192.168.xxx.xxx network. Logging in to the server via the Finder side-bar is quick from all machines except one. For that machine it can take 2 minutes but is ultimately successful. Since all logins are quick from other workstations it points to problem with this one workstation. Tried changing connection from ethernet to airport with same slowdown. Tried building a new workstation account and logging from that one, same results. It may be relevant that this server had an IP address change and the problem workstation was the only one that logged into it at the old IP address. Suggestions?

    I am experiencing the same problem.
    My server - 10.6.4 server on a mac mini - also had an IP and DNS change. The problem client has the domain name previously assigned to the server. I do not know if this is a cause. I have scoured the server for any remaining references to the old domain name but there appear to be none. Unlike your case, the problem client is not the only machine to have connected with the server under it's old name/ip (in fact it may never have done so), but no other clients are experiencing the problem.
    The slow connect also manifests itself every time you attempt to relist the server shares in the 'shared' section of a finder window sidebar, even if one of the shares is connected. Listing the connected share via the 'devices' section of the sidebar is, however, immediate.
    Any ideas where to look in the client logs for troubleshooting clues?

  • TS3571 Why is my MacBook Air version 1.1 suddenly going super slow from start up?

    Ip think my MacBook Air is dying.  It is so slow from start up (try almost 15 mins to get to home screen) that it almost isn't functioning at all.  Is it just too old, a software problem, or a glitch in some part that can be repaired.  I'm running the latest Lion 10.7 and it has never let me down before.  The only other thing is that the sound has stopped, no input or output showing when I check in preferences. 
    Please don't tell me it's just got to be scrapped....

    It's likely that your boot drive is failing, or that you have some other hardware fault. Back up all data immediately, then run the Apple Hardware Test.

  • Problematic Broadband from Day One

    Well...
    Today I switched from another broadband provider to BT.
    Initially I was very very inpressed, stable line and speeds of around 4.8mbps. Minimal errors and no lag etc. Very good.
    At 6pm (as it happens BTs "high" time) my connection goes haywire. My connection lasts no longer than 2 minutes, then it drops and I have hundreds of thousends or CRC and FEC errors on the line. 
    I contacted technical support, there single and only answer was "Well your in your stabilisation period". Yes, I am. But my broadband should still be usable and not drop out every 2 minutes. 
    Help guys?

  • I performed latest software update yesterday 17.2.12 and now my 27 inch imac will not boot up i have had a few problems from day one,not very impressed so far with the imac.

    The guys at the Genius Bar actually are Geniuses! They told me that in fact my iMac was one of the first generation and the main board had fried to they way the fan cooled it off. They said the problem was fixed with the second generation iMacs.
    They took the computer in, i was 1 month away from the 3 year warranty date, and they are replacing the board and the DVD drive that is not working at no charge!
    i'll have it back in 5 days.

  • Sync not working seems snyc has been a problem from day one and has never been fixed.

    I have been trying to get sync to work for a long time and it just won't. I have deleted my accounts and redid them with the new version of sync and still not working. I just get errors saying it can't sync. I can log in but don't matter. Please fix your sync. i have tried firefox, firefox beta and now Aurora.

    Since I switched back to firefox beta from Aurora I can't reproduce the error but it would just pop up at the bottom of the browser with an error saying Can't sync. I don't remember what the wording was I think it could not contact the server. But now that I went back to the beta its using the old sync and there is no way to set up with the new sync. This old version uses the pairing a device with code. I can't set that one up becuase all old accounts have been deleted and a new one created with the new sycn. It uses email and a password. There is no place to sign in with firefox or firefox beta for the new sync accounts. I went to Aurora because the old sync would not work either. I have tried everything your forms offered and nothing works. I kept getting can't sync and or can't sign in bad user name or password and I have the correct info. Your sync sucks it never works right and has been like this for a long time. I am now back on firefox beta but I do miss the new feathers in Aurora. So I have to just not use your sync and back up daily my bookmarks. And now I can't log into sync from here https://account.services.mozilla.com/ because it now says user name and or password not right and it is right. This is why using your sync is just not worth the frustration.

  • Super slow from network???

    ok, you know i am learning the mac from windows so i apolgize if this is a dumb questsion. i, by myself, figured out how to connect from the laptop to the imac (this might be the problem, lol) anyway, i opened imovie and there were all the movies i have made but when trying to view them on the laptop - just one clip 24 sec long took about 4 min. and it never really even played at that.
    is that just normal or am i missing something?

    as said, iM is an edit app; what you want/need is a player... BUT first you need a file to play (with)...
    iM has an "export" or share command... hitting that, you create a play-file, you can share.. to DVD, to the web, to your other computers....
    you can remotely have access to such files, but your wireless connection is the eye-of-the-needle, as said, videos are HUGE! you get much better quality by that workflow: create .mov (export); download that to laptop's harddrive; launch QTplayer on laptop, open local file, enjoy project!

  • Pre ActiveSync problems from day one

    It looks like this is a giant forum full of people having problems so I is hard to know whether or not someone has posted the same problems as me. If so please point me in the right direction.
    We have Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003. I am the Exchange admin but I am a bit of a layman.
    The exchange server works fine for my old WinMo phone, my boss’ iPhone and other blackberry devices.
    When I got the Pre I had an issue with it showing me email, I could see the header but no message. An error would occur about timing out downloading the message body.
    After adding and removing the account more times than I can count that behavior has gone away. Now I get random syncing. Sometimes it syncs emails and calendar, sometimes it does not. Most of time it is "stuck" with emails that don't exist in my mailbox any more, and getting new messages on top of them. I have called Palm countless times, they have promised me callbacks on at least 3 occasions and I have never received a call. I was told that the 1.0.3 update would fix my issue and it did not. I was told that checking an option on the exchange server to allow devices that do not meet all security requirements would fix my problem and it did not.
    I have tried doing a reset on my phone, I have deleted my email box on the exchange server twice. Exchange would work for about 24 hours after deleting and recreating the mailbox then it would stop working again. Randomly syncing or getting "stuck". Yesterday my battery completely drained in 2 hours because EAS was trying to sync my mailbox and I guess failed. There are no errors on the phone or the exchange server.
    Being an exchange and system admin getting my email from the exchange server is vital. I am able to work around this in my email using IMAP which works fine, but that does not fix my calendar. The EAS issue is draining my battery badly (my wife has a Pre without exchange and her battery lasts way longer than mine)
    Does anyone have a fix, a workaround or a phone number to a native english speaker at Palm that can help?

    Thank you for your reply. I've looked at the server and it is clean. There is nothing useful in the event viewer, no errors, no messages, nothing even related to my phone. I am supposed to call Palm back and let them know the results of their last attempt, setting the exchange server option to allow devices that don't meet all security requirements to connect. As of this morning my phone is still in the "stuck" state with old messages that are no longer in my mailbox on the bottom and new messages on top (which is better than no new messages at all)
    On a semi-related note my wife had her first email problem today. Her Gmail did not check all night for some reason so when she went into it this morning it downloaded dozens of emails.

    I can not get into my iPad. The iPad is saying Enter Passcode. I thought they ment my Password so I tried meny times then it kiked me out. I never did have a Passcode at anytime.

    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    I updated it to Anna in July 2011.
    Device never went to NCC, never had any problem, raisonably happy so far.
    Today I learn my device product code is 059B899, which is equal to SWAP... And I cannot upgrade to Belle ?!
    How could that be ?!

     Are you absolutely sure you updated to Anna? The servers do not show a version of Anna available for this product code.
     It's quite possible that the store you bought the phone from has sold you a refurbished unit and not a brand new mobile phone, hence the SWAP device status of the product code.
     Anyway, the advice from Nokia is to take your SWAP phone to a Nokia Care Point where they have been instructed to re-program the motherboard with the correct product code. They should also update the phones software to Belle.

  • All of a sudden I have tryout apps and I've been a Cloud subscriber from day one.

    I downloaded and installed Muse. Now most of my Cloud Apps think I have a Tryout version and ask me to sign in to my account. Doing so does not clear the problem.
    This may not be related to the Muse install but I don't know.
    Just got a notice that Adobe charged my CC for the next month's rent so that shouldn't be an issue.

    I haven't figured out why things went awry but in trying to install Muse as part of the Cloud subscription, I tried to install it over a beta version and it would not install. I went through the normal Windows uninstall process but it still would not install. I had to manually erase the Muse folder inside the Adobe folder. Then it would install but then it apparently assumed it was a Tryout version even though I installed it with the Adobe Application Manager and registered it under the correct user name and password. Then, apparently, the Tryout classification was passed onto other programs in the Cloud by changing something at Adobe headquarters. All of  a sudden Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign start with the Tryout label and a request for me to give my user name and password again. Even though I again 'registered' those programs, the Tryout label still appeared at the opening window.
    I spent an hour on hold until I could talk with a support person who took control of my computer and discovered the problem. He manually reset my Cloud subscription for one program and then the correction automatically spread through my downloaded Cloud programs. Sounds to me like anytime I start a Cloud program, it checks in with the head office.

    i just spent an hour with a tec. (ha) rep and their supervisor (even more ha ) just to get how to select how turn on version data and wi-fi and how to tell which is "active" i dare not try to ask any more i will just experiment... i have 3 symbols on the top left ???? one a suit case with arrow, one triangle with in it and a "stamp" with @  in it
    any clue i can guess but would like to know correctly what they represent

    He was right about the briefcase with the arrow being a notification for the play store updates. The @ symbol in the envelope should be for an email that is not gmail and the exclamation point usually indicates that there is a problem (loss of data or voice service, sim error, sd card error, data roaming). I hope this helps a bit more.

  • Table storage got 4 times slower from day to day

    Hi, I've run tasks which added data to the table storage on my cloudapp each night for the last months, but since Friday 13th (yeah 13th, thats what I thought), the tasks have been executing 4 times slower.
    The exact Work being done, is around 250,000 calls to 'ExecuteBatch' split up on three workers - thursday I got around 20 ops, and since Friday I've been getting around 5 ops. See the storage graph below. It clearly shows that the requests has dropped
