Super SLOW Installations, please Help

I'm currently installing Logic Studio Pro 8 and noticing that it's taking quite a long time to Install.
I'm monitoring the Disk Activity in the Activity Monitor and seeing the Peak Data Disk Read / Write is consistently between 2 to 3 MB but will not go beyond this.
I don't believe this is normal, can someone tell me what the average Data Read / Write should be during a standard installation in the Activity Monitor / Disk Activity screen.
I'm running Leopard on a Brand NEW iMac 20" 2.0 ghz Core Duo
If anyone can chime in and let me know if this is normal or in the same ballpark with the same or similar specs, I'd greatly appreciate it!

1) When you post code, please use[code] and [/code] tags as described in Formatting tips on the message entry page. It makes it much easier to read.
2) It would help if you'd provide details about what problems you're experiencing.
super() is only allowed inside constructors. Where you're using it there is not a c'tor. It's simply a method with the same name as the class. If it's supposed to be a c'tor, get rid of the void and make it just public StockFile(...).
For the second one, I don't know, because you didn't post your error or describe your problem, but I'm going to take a stab and say that maybe StringBuffer doesn't have a setLength method.

SSD and HDD Installed but it runs super slow? Please Help!

Hi, I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro 2.2 GHZ Intel Core i7
8gb of ram. My hard drive died in my mac and I decided to replace it with an SSD and installed an HDD in the optical bay following Ifixit instructions. I booted into internet recovery and installed Mountain Lion (as it would not let me do a straight Yosemite install from a flash drive I had made on my gf's macbook, because it couldn't authenticate). After booting up and declining the usual iCloud prompts, I rebooted and installed Yosemite from the USB. It took a while, but eventually i booted up.
I moved my home folder to the HDD a 7200rpm Western Digital Black, which is in the optical bay, (the SSD is a Samsung 340 Pro and is installed in the Drive bay). Everything appears to be functioning, but it's slower that it had ever been using Yosemite on the HDD that had died. It take 35-40 seconds just to open System Preferences. I have used First aid on both drives via the Recovery and repaired permissions on both. I have reset the ram using option-command-r-p. I have booted into Safe Mode and Restarted the computer multiple times. Just opening a second safari window causes the spinning wheel to go for ten seconds or so. If anyone knows anything I can do, please help! I'm at a loss as to what I can do to fix this.
I'm really not sure what is going on. It seems to take a very long time to load a website, but after using safari for a bit, the app doesn't seem to have a problem responding to commands, just takes way too long to load anything. System preferences is all of a sudden crazy snappy, but is giving me the spinning rainbow wheel when I try and click on a pane saying "Could not load Users & Groups preference pane." After I click "okay" and try again it loads right up. Grrr.

Internet is super slow. Please help.

Ok... So i've owned my new macbook for about 2 months now. Within these 2 months I have been contected to the internet via my ethernet cable with verizons dsl.
The internet was at a good speed, but it always could be better, a little faster. Especially compared to my old HP laptop with Windows XP.
Well, a few days ago i bought a Belkin Wireless router so I can go wireless at home. I easily set this new device up and was online wirelessly. (i've owned a previous belkin wifi router before and had no problems.
Now... when im online wirelessly, the internet is super slow. sites like youtube.com take forever to load. the videos on that site only load to about 1/4th the entire length. other sites just take a while to load, like ebay.com---especially apple.com
so i decided to connect my ethernet cable again to my macbook and try that again. now even with the ethernet cable, my internet is still slow.
this needs to change. as im sure you can relate, when a problem occurs when dealing with your computer, it can drive you bonkers.
i would be calling applecare right now for help but its really late right now.
ALSO!
Ever since i set up the wifi, ichat has not been working properly. i'll sign on and remain signed on but according to all my friends, on their computers it states i have signed off. i'll even attempt to write to them, send it, but they dont receive it.
one last thing. im not sure if this is due to this whole internet/wireless/router/ethernet thing.... but.... some of my applications take a little while to open. not too long but is noticeable.

Many DSL and cable modems don't play nice with MacOSX, and DNS service from major ISPs seem to be getting less usable all the time. I recommend http://OpenDNS .com/
Open your System Preferences, Network prefpanel, Doubleclick on the network interface with the green button, probably Built-in Ethernet. In the field where it says "DNS Servers", paste whichever address you want. Click Apply Now.
The OpenDNS servers are at 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 and yes, they are fast and reliable.
Set your modem to OpenDNS too, on the modem DNS configuration page. You should see a huge increase in internet speed. Sometimes the configuration page is very hard to find, but the OpenDNS website has instructions for all popular modems.

SKYPE BEING SLOW SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

So I've had skype for a long time now. I have had it on more than one computer. I'm running it on my coustom built Windows 8 (64 bit) gaming PC. It has worked flawlsy and smooth until recently. I was skyping with my buddies earier today and it worked fine. I stoped skyping for like 2 hours but didnt close the program. I started to play a steam game which I have done with skype open before and this time when i exited the game I tried to use skype. It was being super slow or "laggy" and I could barely make calls. Now its being slow and Ive tryed reinstalling it and running it as and Admin. Please help this is really agrovating!

1)Windows 8 64 bit NOT windows 8.1
2)I have Classic shell...It puts a start menu on windows 8 computers with out windows 8.1
3)Coustom built PC - Processor AMD 8320 - GPU Radeon HD 7850 - PSU 750 Watt bronze - 8 gigs of RAM
***-I haven't installed any recent software etc. I have 25+ mbps internet speed. I have no skype mods

Try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the previous 6.9.0.106 version using this msi-installer:

After installing this version, make sure to disable the Automatic updates:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates

Oh No.... My MacPro is SLOW! Please help!

I received my MacPro the other day, turned it on and Migrated my files from my Dual 2.5 G5 and I started working. This thing is crawling, even when I use just Universal programs, especially when I use non-Universal programs! I took it to the Genius bar and they said it did seem slow but they ran hardware tests and got nothing..... PLEASE HELP! Any ideas, any common issues?

You'll need to leave, nuke the site from orbit.
1: Backup all files
2: C boot from the installer disk and select Disk utility from the installer menu
3: Erase w/Zero option the boot drive.
4: Quit and reinstall Tiger fresh, imeediatly Software update till clear.
5: If you get a 150GB 10,000 RPM Western Digital Raptor and repeat steps above to make it a boot/app/iTunes/bare bones home drive (keep it -50% filled) and keep non-secure files in new folders on the old drive, your mac OS X performance will remain snappy.

I am having a hard time with fcpx, it is running so slow. i upgraded my ram to 12 and have cleaned up my computer to run faster and have changed all my files to proxy files but it is still running SO slow. please help!

MacBook Pro suddenly very slow! PLEASE HELP!

this is my ever post and im not much of an expert so please excuse if im slow or say sth stupid
so i have a macbook pro 2011 with an i7 which should be pretty fast. and it was until 5-6 months ago, where it just became terribly slow, i re-installed the OSX, but it didnt help.
my battery has also died completely last month, which i will have to change, and i will add an extra 4 GB RAM i think, but i doubt thats the only issue.
applications are ridiculuosly slow, i get the beachball of death all the time, please help.

Slow Internet Please Help "Westell 7500"

So for the past few days I have been dealing with a slow internet connection. I called into verizon and they sent 2 tech people out to my house and basicaly said everything was fine. Although they did pretend they solved a problem. When they tested my modem they said I was getting the correct amout in. (3.6 down/.8 up) But when you try and get on a computer or my xbox and speed test it, it goes to about http://www.speedtest.net/result/2277792647.png about .3/.1. The tech people did not help at all and I asked that they look at the modem page but they refused.

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. IMac shuts down during Mac OS X Bootcamp Installation PLEASE HELP!!

Hi,
Just opened my new iMac and have installed Windows XP Professional SP 2. I have inserted the Mac OS X installation disc, per the instructions, but Boot Camp won't install in Windows! It looks like it is going to copy files, but then it just shuts down all of a sudden and reboots to Windows. Once it is rebooted, there is a "critical error" message - yikes! I wish I didn't need Windows on my new Mac, but I have to have it for work. Please please please help.

Sounds like the new iMac may not support XP. Someone was curious about XP support on MBP today also.
For my time/effort/money I'd choose Windows 7 Home Premium, probably 64-bit.
