Super User Profile for Bex Query Designer

Hi There,
What is the profile that will allow a user to create local queries, copy an existing (locked transported query), and change local queries - when the system is locked for change. We are using SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0x

I'm not sure about a security profile, but you will definitely need to make a setting in RSA1 to allow a user to create/change queries when the system is closed for changes. In RSA1 go to Transport Connection then click on Object Changeability. Look for the entry for Query Element, and if it says Not Changeable double-click it so it says Changeable Original. Now you will be able to create queries or change queries that were originally created in that system. If you want to also be able to change queries that were created in another system (i.e. change queries in production that were created in dev) right-click and choose Everything Changeable.
You can make similar settings for InfoPackages, process chains, web templates, etc.

Cannot see BEx Query in user role profile in BEx query designer

I assigned several BEx query objects into user profile menu via t-code PFCG first.
Then expected - when I need and open them in BEx query designer I could find them after clicking "Role" button in "Open" window. But unfortuantely I'm not able to do that.
Do I miss anything to archive that? Is other customizing activity else neccessary?

Hi Brad.Ma,
If you can open query from Area "button", after that, you publish it to roles you want assign.
You try generate Authoriation in Role in Tcode PFCG.

User Entry for BEx query

Hi Gurus,
When I run a standard Business Content query, I could see a dialog box popping up for the user to enter the values. This looks like a mandatory field. How do I modify this? Is there a code which I could do the modification, as to me it seems to be an SAP exit variable?
Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Hi,
When we use variables in a query a pop-up appears at runtime. If we want to modify it, ie., if you want to delete this
see for which field it's asking to enter the value, in Query -> Global definition -> go to that field, expand it, you can find a variable on that field, you can delete that variable or go to the left side panel and double click on the variable under the same field and modify it, under DETAILS change 'Variable Entery is' to optional from Mandatory.
To create a variable right click on the field and create a 'New Variable'

User exit for bex query

My requirement is like this :
When i put 20 ath week in calender week field the report has to calculate last 13 weeks data and do SUMUP .
I have created Customer exit variable .
I wrote user exit but it is not calculating for last 13 weeks and my code is like below :

what if u enter a value between 1 to 12 for the week? then the low range becomes -ve right?
Instead of customer exit, you can try the following
1. Create a new selection, in which drag the corresponding characterstic
2. Select restrict from the context menu and
3. select value ranges from the "show" popup box, choose Between and
4. for the lower and upper values use the "select from list icon", and select "variables" from the popdown and select your ZWEEK variable
5. tranfer to the right panel and then select the offset icon...two popup boxes appear once for the lower and once for the upper...select -13 for lower and 0 for upper..

THERE IS NO TCODE FOR QUERY DESIGNER. BUT THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE..
OPEN BEX ANALYSER THROUGH RRMX
OPEN A QUERY
CLICK ON TOOLS-> EDIT QUERY
THIS OPENS QUERY DESIGNER AND YOU CAN USE IT NORMALLY..

User profiles for analyzer and query designer

I have one short question about user-profiles.
Which user-profile should I best use for a user, who should just use the BEx Analyzer and which profile does a user need for using BEx Analyzer + BEx Query Designer.

Settings for SAP Portal start page from BEx Query Designer

Hi!
In order to see queries I would like to use SAP Enterprise Portal from BEx Query Designer.
When I push "execute" button within BEx Query Designer a wrong page will be shown in browser.
I changed the settings in table RSPOR_T_PORTAL, but still get the wrong Portal page shown in browser.
Question:
What is the transaction/table/report to customize the portal start page using by BEx Query Designer?

I am about to implement SAP Best Practices scenario "B34: Accounts Receivable Analysis".
Therefore I load the data from SAP ERP IDES system into SAP NetWeaver 2004s system.
My problems are:
when I try to load the transaction data for Infosources 0FI_AR_4 and 0FI_AR_6 from SAP ERP system the following happens:
- the status is getting u201Cyellowu201D (194 from 0 records)
- at the next day the status is getting u201Credu201D and I received the following error:
Errors while sending packages from OLTP to BI
Diagnosis
No IDocs could be sent to BI using RFC.
System Response
There are IDocs in the source system ALE outbox that did not arrive in the ALE inbox of BI.
Further analysis:
Check the TRFC log.
You can access this log using the wizard or the menu path "Environment -> Transact. RFC -> In source system".
Error handling:
If the TRFC is incorrect, check whether the source system is fully connected to BI. In particular, check the authorizations of the background user in the source system.
Comment:
I did not find any entries on "Environment -> Transact. RFC -> In source system"
The Source system connection EC6CLNT100 is OK
Can some one help me to solve this problem?

Creating Restrictions in BEx query designer for (1-a), where a is variable.

My requirement is that I want to have " 1-fiscal year"., But this I could not define using offset variables, since using offset we can define "fiscal year +1" or "fiscal year -1".
So there would be some other way to define "1-fiscalyear". So Please help me to define "1-fiscalyear" by giving me the steps.

BEx Query Designer - Url openining problem

While running a BI query through BEx Query Designer, it is generating portal URL as:

have created source system and all RFCs required as running properly.
Any ideas further please ??

Dear all.
Below are the details probelm .
i want to open the portal nwa using url "http://10.2.202.154:50000/nwa" but it's ask me username and password screen , when entering J2EE_ADMIN user and correct password next screen is not appears
and same user name and password screen shows again.
when putting worng password it's show authontication fail message.

Division in bex query designer

Hi experts,
I have a strange problem in bex query designer. I am trying to calculate margin in % but the calculation gives the wrong result.
The two figures I try to calculate are -25124 and -91248 (figures in 1000 NOK)
The result should be (-25124/-91248)100 = 27,53* (when formula entered in excel)
I have tried the following in Bex query designer
-25124 %A -91248 = -0,02753%
(-25124/-91248)*100 = 0,02753
What might be the problem here?

The margin is calculated in the cells in the bex query designer to differentiate between actual and budget. There is no option to calculate the margin in the columns as this would influence all other rows aswell.

Results based on From and To value in Bex query designer.

Dear all,
We are using BI7.00. In one of our report which pertains to PM user wants to get the details of number of breakdowns which falls in the value range 0 to 1 hours.
I created a condition which has 2 variables, one is From value and the other is for the To value (since user wants to enter both the limits). I have written a condition that if the breakdown hour is greater than or equal to variable1 and less than or equal to variable2.
Using the above condition if the query is run, i am not getting the desired output. The values avaialble in the report are 0.65,0.78,1.30,7.38,0 etc., when i give 0 to 1 i should get the values 0.65,0.78 and 0 but instead report displays "No valid results".
I changed the condition and selected "Between" variable 1 and variable 2 - yet no change in the query.
To my knowledge i foresee that system is not able to recognize the decimal and hence provides details only based on the whole numbers.
How to get my requirement achieved in the Bex query designer.
Experts suggestion with steps will be very useful to solve my problem.

Hi Magesh,
I think you could try one more way.
Create a formula inserting your two formula variables for limits .(FV - are ready for input ) .
The formula would return the result as 1 or 0 because it would have boolean condition in it.
You could then place a condition in the query designer to only show all records where the value of the formula key fig is 1.
You formula A would look like
( KF > FV1) AND (KF < FV2) * 1.
And in the condition put A EQ 1.
You could scale the key figures as well and multiply the limits mentioned by the users in FV1 and FV2 if decimals are still not recognized by SAP.(scaling)

Doubt on Rows and Coloums in BEx Query Designer.

Hello, Experts.
I have a Doubt in BEx Query Designer.
In the Rows I have a Fiscal year Period, if the user enters the Fiscal year period for e.g. : 001/2006 .
in the columns i have forecast for the Fiscal year period which user entered ( 001/2006 ),   and we have another column pervious ( Prior )fiscal year period ( 001/2005 ).
My Questions is , as we are Restricting with 001/2006 will the query retrieve the values of 2005 or not?

yes i am Doing Offest.
I moved this Fiscal year Period to Free char,   and i Restricted with Pervious Fical Year period and Fical year period . it worked. but
when i kept this in Rows and deleted Previous Fiscal Year period . it is displaying blanks.   in prior years forecast.
is it because i am Ristricting it to only fical year period which user entered
         Colums--> Forcast ( User Entered year )          Prior year

Dear Friends!
I am supoosed to create a report drill down report for Purchasing History to be precise, I know that we can have drill down feature using heirarchy but is it possible for Us to have PO & PO item heirarachy ? or any other way to do drill down reporting in SAP BEx Query designer ?
like my current report is : -

Hi Naim,
usually we don't do the transactional data as hierarchy. not sure the reason behind your requirement.
we can do one of the below :-
1. To have the default view as
| Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | | PO Number| .( keyfigures) | Payment |
and then user can drill down on rest of the characteristics for detailed view later on.
2. or if they don't want to drill down on characteristics;-
we can build 2 reports , one for header level information and then jump to second query for detailed information(item level) using RRI.
first query:
| Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | | PO Number| .( keyfigures) | Payment |
second query:
| Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |

Best Practice for BEX Query "PUBLISH to ROLE"?

Hello.
We are trying to determine the best practice for publishing BEX queries/views/workbooks to ROLEs.
To be clear of the process I am referring: from the BEX Query Designer, there is an option QUERY>PUBLISH>TO ROLE. This function updates the user menu of the selected security role with essentially a shortcut to the BEX query. It is also possible to save VIEWS/WORKBOOKS to a role from the BEX Analyzer menu. We have found ROLE menus to be a good way to organize BEX queries/views/workbooks for our users.
Our dilemma is whether to publish to the role in our DEV system and transport to PROD,... or if it is ok to publish to the role directly in the PROD system.
Publishing in DEV is not always possible, as we have objects in PROD that do not exist in DEV. For example, we allow power users to create queries directly in PROD. We also allow VIEWS and WORKBOOKS to be created directly in PROD. It would not be possible to publish types of objects in DEV.
Publishing in PROD eliminates the issues above, but causes concerns for our SECURITY team. We would be able to maintain these special roles directly in PROD.
Would appreciate any ideas, suggestions, examples of how others are handling this BEX publish-to-role process.

Hi Joel,
Again as per the Best Practices.Nothing to be created in PRD,even if we create them in PRD for Power users its assumed as temprory and can be deleted at any time.
So if there are already deviations then you can go for deviations in this case as well but it wont be the Best Practice.Also in few cases we have workbooks created in PRD as they cud nt be created in DEV due to various reasons...in such cases we did not think of Best Practice ,we had a raised an OSS on this aswell.
In our Project,we have done everything in DEV and transported to PRD,in case there were any very Minor changes at query level we have done in PRD and immedialtely replicated the same in DEV so that they are in SYNC.

Giving Error while opening BEx Query Designer.

Hi all,
               A user is trying to open BEx Query Designer 7.0 and she is getting this error
" SAP BEx Query Designer standalone has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were middle of something, the information you are working on might be lost. "
She is not having issues while opening BEx Analyzer. She is having Office 2010. This doesn't seem to be compatibility issue with the Office. This BEx was not installed on her machine 2 weeks back and it was working fine until now.
As a first re-solution i told her to get it re-installed but still she is getting the same issue.

There is no relation between Office VS Query Designer. Only with BEx Analyzer and MS Excel.
My suggestion is.
If you don't have version 7.20 of SAPGUI and Business Explorer, please download the installer.
After that, download the latest patch available and install:
