Super White or White?

Friends
I'm a wedding videographer and I work with the mini dv cams PD150 and VX2000... I output my edited videos only to DVD, not VHS.
What is the best option to work with the sequences (sequence settings), white or super-white ?
I read something that if I don't broadcast my footages or record it on VHS, I should work with superwhite if I keep my video in a digital format, as DVD.
Is it right?
Thanks to all.

  • Pdf page rendered as white on white (works perfectly in windows, though)

Hi. I found an annoying bug on *all* my apple products.
One pdf page in a book I am reading is rendered as white on white on any iOS or Mac OS software.
The text is there (I can select it, highlight it, etc) but I could not find any way to display it.
    The curious things are:
Last year I did not have this problem
the pdf is displayed withuot any problem on any windows machine I tried
(this is a screenshot of the page)
Any idea why this is happening, and how to solve it?

Both your Conduit Engine, particularly, and Alexa Toolbar are known troublemakers. I would advise Googling both for advice and removal instructions.
I'm not sure it is a good idea to have both Foxit and Adobe Reader.

  • Color Correcting In CC - Making Whites Actually White

Okay so my main question is,
Are there any functions or plugins where I can look at the clip, and then click on a spot that I know should be white (But its not because the camera wasn't white balanced 100%), and have After effects automatically adjust so it is white.
Kind of like how you set white balance on a camera, where you hold up a white card or other completely white object, click the white balance, and the camera automatically adjust to make it white.
Except I want to be able to just click on a point in the footage and have it adjust everything.
If this is not an option, then are there any good tips for white balancing the footage?
IE: I film a subject against a white wall, the camera wasn't white balanced so the background appears to be light beige. I want to click the background in AE and have it color correct and make it white.
    Thanks

Finding perfect white is always a challenge and it may foul up other things in your shot because white walls are reflective and if someone is wearing a blue shirt against a white wall, white may not be white. Setting white may get you in the ball park, but it is usually only the first step in color grading. You usually want to push highlights to one hue and shadows to another.
The procedure and the tools used to color grade a shot depend entirely on the shot. For most of my work Colorists II is my preferred tool. Some shots require more than one instance of colorist to get to where I want to go. Color finesse is also good, but for some work, and this depends entirely on the shot,  Auto Color is all that I need. No matter what technique you use to grade your shots you need some kind of scope or histogram that you understand so you can know where you are pushing the levels in the shot. I'm always checking areas of a shot with the Info Panel to make sure I know what I've done to the color values. Most of all, good color grading takes time to learn and a very thorough knowledge of color.

  • Sporatic changing of screen from black of white to white on black

Lately when I'm reading My books the page will sporadically change from the normal black on white to white on black.  This auto swiching sometimes lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes. Somes the change will last a 1/2 hour or more.  I've check my Assessability settings and everything is turned off.  This never happened before the latest upgrade.  What is causing this?  I'm concerned my Ipad May be biting the dust.

There is a setting in the iBooks app itself that can control that. With a book open, tap the AA icon in the upper right and there is a setting for Auto-Night theme. Try toggling that on and off. There is also a white and black setting above that Auto-Night Theme setting.

  • When i turn in my computer it only come a white screen whit a map and a questionmark?

When i turn in my computer it only come a white screen whit a map and a questionmark?

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

  • IPad Mini - iOS7 - "White on White" and feeling nausea

    Dear Apple
I have had my iPad mini since December 2012 - I use it almost every day - at home and at work. I liked the look and feel of the product when running iOS 6
Then I updated to iOS7, and like many others I found the "white on white" and strange movement induced nausea. I tired to see if I could get used to it, trying the various settings provided, but unfortunately these feelings did not get any less.
I was lucky in that I was able to roll back to 6.1.3 before that path became blocked.  But I also know that I can never do a factory reset in the future otherwise I will get a forced update to 7.
Now I wait in the hope that Apple will listen to its customers, to give them a choice in being able to turn features on or off - and to be able to change colour schemes.
    Thank You

... I am aware that 7.0.3 has now appeared with possible fixes to many of the problems that users have been reporting. However, given as soon as I update, I can never roll back to the previous version, what happens if I continue to have problems with the "White on White" look in iOS 7?
To some this might be a trivual issue, but to me and how my brain works - I have great difficulty with using software where there are minimal visual clues as to where one should tap to get a menu, or where one can enter text.
Currently I have an iPad that I can use, and that I am happy with. The dissaponitment is that I am not being given a choice, and have to now live with a reduced capacity iPad due to the download of the install for iOS 7 that I cannot delete.
There is also dissappointment that there never appears to be any feedback from Apple as part of their customer service when issues like this are raised.

I udate my os to 10.6.7 and since then my Pages have color problems. The text is not visible (white on white background) it does'nt help to change the text color nor background color. I just download the recent trail version of Iworks and install it. The first document I opened it was ok. When I open the second one the problem appear again and stayed. Pls help

This behavior was described many times.
In every occurrence, the operating system was an uncompleted one resulting of the use of Software Update to update the operating system to 10.6.2, 10.6.3, 10.6.4, 10.6.5, 10.6.6, 10.6.7.
In such cases, the solace was to apply a combo updater.
As you are using 10.6.7, download and apply the combo 10.6.7 :

After that, run Software Update which will urge you to apply :

  • All spreadsheets open blank (white on white)

All data is still there, but all formatting is white on white. Happens to every spreadsheet I open. QuickLook on document in Finder shows data/formatting is there, but open in Numbers and it's all blank. Also blank when I select a new document from the Template Chooser. ***?

    Erik,
We don't have much to go on here. It helps if you tell us which version and sub-version of Numbers you are using and which version and sub-version of the OS you are using.
There have been problems like this in the past that arose out of having the applicaiton version and the OS X version out ot sync. In other words, they both need to be updated. Sometimes the app needs a tweak to work with a new OS release. Is everything updated there?

  • White is not white The white in my photoshop is no longer white, it is creamy/yellow?

I have reinstalled photoshop cs3 onto a new pc (windoows 8).  bridge etc show my white as white but photoshop whites are creamy.  Please help

Edit in Photoshop an image that you think should be white (my border in the shot below) select the colour picker tool and the colour chart comes up,. Move the colour picker onto what should by the white area and #FFFFFF should show (as below) . If it doesn't then it isn't white
If you use Firefox browser you can also check the colour on the screen (on the web) by using the Colour Zilla addon, which does a similar thing (but not in PS obviously)
If the colour is white but it doesn't look it on your monitor you either have a colour profile problem, or your monitor is wonked.

  • UITableViewCell draws its text white a white background

Has anyone had the problem where UITableViewCell draws its text with a white background, like this:
This is a standard UITableViewCell in which I have specified has a background view, like this:
    cell.backgroundView = [[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:cell.bounds] autorelease];
    cell.backgroundView.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:0.9 alpha:1.0];
That's what's drawing gray. But the text label drawn by UITableViewCell draws with a white background obscuring a portion of the background view.
I've tried numerous things like setting the cell and its content view to use clearColor as their background. The issue, I believe, is that the UILabel that UITableViewCell uses needs to have its background color set to clearColor. But there's no way to access that through the UITableViewCell API.

As I mentioned, when I used a built in template, like contemporary, it worked too.  The problem only happened with the IBA that I was given.  Perhaps the previous owner of the file had accidentally chosen Format/Advanced/Define Default Glossary Style when they had some white on white displayed and caused all the formatting for the glossary to be the same.  I was able to fix it using that menu path.
I'm not sure what fixing it in the "source file" means.  I was trying to fix it in the IBA file.  Not sure where else I would have fixed it.

  • Text appearing as white on white on a webpage?

A friend of mine created this website http://www.confinementmovie.com/ but for me in Safari (and Firefox) most of the text appears as white on a white background (i.e. it can't be read unless highlighted with a mouse). He said this isn't true for other people he's shown it to. Is this a problem of some settings on my computer/browsers, or a problem in the html of his site?

Thanks for checking! From further information I have received elsewhere, evidently the site was created in Microsoft Word and only displays properly in Internet Explorer.

  • LabVIEW 2010 icon editor -- why is white not white

OK, so I'm creating an Icon in LV 2010.
    I want a white background.
So I choose the white color in the palette.  But that doesn't quite look like white (a little darker than white).
so I go get a custom color, and set it to 255/255/255 (R/G/B).  add it to my custom colors.  hover over it quickly with the mouse and see that it is actually 255/255/255.
Then I go back to the actually icon editing, and make sure my color selection (foreground/background) is both WHITE (255/255/255).
    I draw a box.
    The box isn't white!!!
the box is drawn with colors 246/246/246 (R/G/B) not 255/255/255!
Go create another custom color of 255/255/254.
    Draw the box again.
Box looks white, but it is actually 255/255/254 (what you would expect to get).  Close enough for me to use, so I can get on with making my icons, but I just need to remember to not try to actually set the color to 255/255/255 -- actually use something ever so slightly different.
Best I can figure out -- if you hover over a transparent section, you see the color go to 255/255/255, so LV must be using 255/255/255 as transparent.  But then it says that color is 255/255/255, and it's not, it's transparent.  So the color should be shown as T/T/T so I don't need to know the special magical decoder of 255/255/255 = transparent to see if one single pixel is transparent color or not.
End of rambling and venting, and on to the real question:
What's special about taking 255/255/255 white and converting it to 246/246/246 instead of something closer like 254/254/254?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The Icon Editor thinks it is doing you a favor, and it probably really is given the (perhaps outdated) method LV uses for transparency on the BD.  By design, any "white" on the outside of a BD object (ie. icon) is considered transparent and not part of the object as far as clicking is concerned.  I have also discovered the hard way that "white" means any pure grey (R=G=B) with R,G,B > 246.  Tweaking the B value is one way to avoid this (as you have discovered).
You can get some very interesting effects when LV thinks your entire subVI is transparent.

  • Dropbox PDF Preview - Whites not White

    Hello all,
I've created an inDesign document which showcases many images with an object on a white background. All of the images have a true white background (both RGB and CMYK), and when I look at the inDesign document or the PDF I export to my computer, the images stay white. However, when I upload the PDF to Dropbox and you preview it on the website, some images (only on certain pages) no longer have a white background. It's all of the images on the page, including the Master Page template items. If you download the PDF from Dropbox, however, it's not a problem and all the images appear correctly. Any idea what the problem is? I can't figure out why it would only be on some pages, not all of them.
    Thanks in advance.
PS - I'm using inDesign CS6, I've tried a ton of different export settings and none seem to make a difference. I'm open to trying whatever you suggest!

Yeh - different browsers and applications try to build their own PDF readers and they just don't address all the modules of Adobes PDFs.
You should write a message to Dropbox https://www.google.ie/search?q=dropbox+twitter&oq=dropbox+twitter&aqs=chrome.0.69i57j0l3j6 9i62l2.2474j0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
I had a similar issue with an update to Firefox where it wouldn't let me Drag and Drop from the Firefox Library - I wrote to Mozilla on Twitter and it was sorted in a few days.
