SuperDrive not supported in iDVD 5.0.2- what to do?

Ok, I am in serious trouble and appealing to anyone with knowledge of iMacs since 2002.
I have an iMac G4 Flat Panel. It was recently updated with Tiger, Mas OS X Version 10.4.11 (only weeks before Panther was released!) This contains the programs iMovie HD 5.0.2 and iDVD 5.0.1.
Ok, now backtrack. Before the upgrade, I had worked on a project in iMovie 2.1.1 and burned in to DVD via iDVD 2.1. I even used the blank DVD that came with the iMac when I first purchased it in early 2002. The DVD burner is the original that came with this iMac; Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-104.
Today, now fast-forward to today. I am working on an extensive project for a massive car registry. The movie is 119 mins, and was created in iMovie HD 5.0.2. I am trying to burn it to disk via iDVD 5.0.1. I started using Memorex and Sony DVD-Rs, both which the disk drive promptly spit out before I could pull up Disk Utility.
I then bought Verbatim DVD-Rs and all seemed well until a message came up that said "Your Mac does not have a supported SuperDrive. Please note that while you will be able to work with iDVD projcts, you will not be able to burn a DVD disc."
So let me get this straight: the drive supported projects made in iMovie 2.1.1 and iDVD 2.1 (and running barely 45 mins.), but now it does not because I am using iMovie HD 5.0.2 and iDVD 5.0.1?
Please do not tell me I need a new disk drive. Can I downgrade iDVD to just iDVD 5.0.? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx!

also with "all the cds" you have burned maybe you just wore it out?
you could take it to a local comp tek (not apple) and have them check it.
also check out other world computing (OWC) on the web.
really good source for apple hardware

  • Superdrive not supported 80020025

Just tried to burn a disk using my 18 month old macbook pro. Have only done this once before when the laptop was a few weeks old and worked perfectly then. THis time got error "superdrive not supported" and error code 80020025. Can anyone help? Am running OS 10.7.4. Trying to burn a CD-R. I noticed also that no icon appears on the desktop as you usually see when a memory stick or external hard drive is connected. If I use the disk utility and select burn and the directory where the jpg's are located, the icons for the files are greyed out and therefore cannot be selected.

Hold down the "Option" key, right-click the "Finder" icon in your dock, click "Re-launch". Try again.

This means that your NAS does not support the required encryption. Update your NAS to the latest firmware or ditch it and buy a Time Capsule (they are the most reliable when using TM).

  • I have just rented a film through my Apple TV (2) which I cannot play, The screen says "HDCP is not supported by your HDMI connection". What am I supposed to do about this?

I have just rented a film through my Apple TV (2) which I cannot play. The screen says "HDCP is not supported by your HDMI connection." What am I supposed to do about this? Thanks in anticipation.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
HDCP is copy protection built into iTunes video content, the Apple TV requires all devices to be HDCP compatible before it will send HDCP content to them. In simplistic terms the Apple TV asks the TV if the signal it will send can be recorded, if it gets the right answer it will send the signal, if it doesn't receive a reply it won't.
Your problem may be one of unsupported equipment or may simply be an error. You could start by checking if your TV is HDCP compliant. If it is the problem might be cabling or another device (such as a receiver) between the Apple TV and TV, it may also just be a glitch which might be resolved by a simple restart.

  • Your SuperDrive is not supported with iDVD

Having just updated to 10.5.5 and never used iDVD before I don't know if this is an update issue or not.
I tried using iDVD and it has been locking up and giving the spinning pinwheel cursor multiple times tonight. I force quit the application about 12 times tonight while trying to make a DVD.
This last time that I opened it a message popped up saying that my SuperDrive was incompatible with iDVD and that I would be able to create a DVD with the program but I would not be able to burn it to DVD.
My drive is reported in system profiler under Disc Burning as
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109:
    Firmware Revision: 1.58
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2000 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds
So there is no reason that it should be saying that it doesn't work.
    is there?

    Hiya,
got precisely the same DVD burner, but instead of firmware revision 1.58 (in yours) it states "1.40" in mine! All other data identical.
You have not by any chance made it "region free". As I was short of doing it but the drive was not the correct one to do it with. In which case it'd lock it.
Or have you flashed it (example article:http://www.macos.utah.edu/documentation/hardware/pmg5_superdrivefix.html)?
    Any good?

  • Superdrive not supported by my iMac

I have a 24 inch mid 2007 iMac with 2.8GHz intel core duo processor and 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 S DRAM memory.  OSX 10.9.5. I want to use an SuperDrive but i am getting a message that this computer does not support Superdrive. Is there  an update that I can download?

If this is the  Apple made external optical drive, it only works with newer Macs that no longer have a bulit-in Super Drive.
Return this for a full refund.
If you need an optical drive that works with your year and model Mac, look at these.
Not all optical drives are Mac compatible.
Most Mac compatible drives you will only find to be purchased online.
Here are two on Amazon.com that are cheap and Mac compatible

  • HT1386 I have IPod touch running iOS 5.1.1 and Windows 7 with iTunes 11.0.4.4. When I connect the IPod to my PC, iTunes recognizes it but before synching can get very far, it is interrupted by "charging not supported on this acc." Now what to do?

I'm having trouble with the wi-fi synch for iTunes and would be happy if I could just synch by the USB cable. With the new iOS, the connection to iTunes seems to get broken every time the dreaded "charging not supported with this accessory" appears, which is only a few seconds into the synch. Since my PC is obviously not an Apple brand charger, IPod won't stop producing this message. Using the Dismiss button doesn't resolve the issue because synch has already stopped. It looks like the hardwire to PC option is now dead.

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My iPod touch 4G suddenly pops up with 'charging is not supported with this accessory' no matter what cord or source I use. It worked fine for months before this. What can I do?

This is crazy!  I love my iPod but it suddenly has a charging issue. Please HELP! I had absolutely no problem charging it for 7 or 8 months. Then last week I started getting an error message every time I try to charge it. I used to be able to charge it through my PC, PS3, wall adapter or car adapter. Now I get this message no matter where I try to charge it or with what cord! It says, 'charging is not supported with this accessory'. It happens after about 3-5 min of charging. Then I have to unplug it and plug it back in to keep charging it!  How or why did this happen and how do I fix it?

If you did not do a reset of your iPod please try that (you will not lose any data)
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If this does not work inspect the opening in your iPod where the cable connects. Look for any debris and clean it (a magnifying glass may be required).

  • Premiere Elements V4 does Not Support Matrox Parhelia 128mb Vid Crd - What video card should I get?

Premiere Elements V4 does not support Matrox Parhelia 128bm Video Card.  Is there a recommended card that will work?
I have an Asus P2B Mother Board.  Many thanks for any feedback.

    Welcome to the forum.
About any current card, with good driver support, should work fine. The amount of VRAM is not that important, but I would go with ~ 1GB. The driver support is the main factor.
I am running PrE 4.0 and PrPro CS 2 Production Studio on my laptop w/ an nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX - 512GB VRAM, with no issues. That card/chip is a bit old now, and obviously the VRAM is less, than I mentioned, but to "future-proof" the computer a bit, the ~ 1GB VRAM would possibly help.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • My macbook air keeps on saying Microsoft windows are not supported on os x...what do i do?

my macbook air keeps on saying that windows does not support OS X
    what do i do?

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
         1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows
XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  For Boot Camp
4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow
instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on
installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and
installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the
computer into OS X or Windows.
         2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software
virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
             with OS X.
         3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,
or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that
enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
         4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows
applications without having to install Windows.  The
Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
         5. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such
as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
             Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech Labs- Virtualization Benchmarks, January 2013 | MacTech for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Benchmarks of all of the above except Crossover can be found in Benchmarking Parallels, Fusion, and VirtualBox Against Boot Camp - The Mac Observer. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Just upgraded from Safari to Maverick, but pop-up informed me that Mav does not support Microsoft word or excel.  What's up with that?

Just upgraded from Safari to Maverick, but pop-up informed me that Microsoft Word or Excel will not run on OS X Mavericks.  What's up with that?  Should I click accept or ok?
I assume this is the latest Mav OS...so the version would be 10.9.2?  It was suppose to be a free download from Apple.

If you do not want to spend a lot of money on buying the latest Office you can get most or all of what you need from LibreOffice which is free. http://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/

  • Superdrive not supported?

I am trying to burn some DVDs for my soccer team, and the message flashed up - "YOUR MACINTOSH DOES NOT HAVE A SUPPORTED SUPERDRIVE. PLEASE NOT THAT WHILE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WORK WITH IDVD PROJECTS, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BURN A DVD DISC." I have made a couple last year and everything worked fine. The only change I know we did is install an external back-up drive.
I am also having difficulty reading CDs w/ pictures from other parents.
I have the project done and ready to go for Xmas presents, but can't burn them. HELP!!

    Hi
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    iDVD pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named. com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
    iDVD updated ?
    Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions
    Yours Bengt W
