Superdrive replaced: now doesn't work: FRUSTRATED IN CT! Cursed?

Replaced a faulty Superdrive inside the PB. Before putting it back together I tested the drive and it worked (sucking a disk in) /mounted. After putting it back together it doesnt work! Yes it shows up in the profiler. The disk will go in 95% of the way by hand--doesnt get grabbed inside. There is no noise or sense of anything moving inside the drive other than my manual inserting of the disc.
I reopened it and checked the cable and its fine and attached. No luck.
Ideas? Im going nuts!
(could it be related to my previous post of not getting a startup chime; yet boots?)

The drive does not show up in System Profiler. "Disc Burning" states "No burning device was found."
This is the original drive that came with the computer and has never given me a problem until this upgrade.
No discs are recognized when put into the drive, I tried four different ones besides the OS 10 Tiger install disc.
I will add that when I did this install of Tiger, there were two discs provided and when the 1st one was done installing, it asked for the second one to be loaded, but would not eject the first one. The tech at the place I ordered them from said I should have done a "custom install" and had me reinstall the upgrade by restarting from the first disc. If I'd known that before I put the first one in, then I'd never have had to call the tech!
I have no other problems with the machine or softwre now other than the drive issue.

Yes that makes sense, however have you updated it at My Apple ID before trying to change it in your system preferences > iCloud settings, you must do that first.

Check to see if any apps have updates that fix the problem.
First, I would recommend doing a reset. No data will be lost. Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears.
The next step (if not fixed) is to restore in iTunes. First try restoring from a backup, then you may have to set up as a new iPad if that doesn't work.

Create a document with some straight quotes.
Then: Edit, Substitutions, Show Substitutions, make sure Smart Quotes is checked, Replace All.

No, you're doing it right. Try the exact same procedure in TextEdit, which also relies on OS X's text substitutions mechanism for this, and you'll find it works exactly as you expect. This is a lingering bug in Pages 5.

Text replacements synchronization doesn't work on my Mac

Hello, I cannot make text replacements synchronization work on Yosemite (the same problem was on Mavericks – I hoped, that Yosemite will fix it, but it didn't). The symptoms are:
Synchronization backend work properly: when I add or update shortcuts on my iPad, the change will appear in sqlite database stored in ~/Library/Dictionaries/CoreDataUbiquitySupport/... on my Mac
When I go to Keyboard Preferences → Text, I can see shortcuts synchronized from my iPad there
The shortcuts doesn't work in applications at all (even if they are enabled via Edit menu)
I started to play with brand new user account on my Mac and I was able to make synchronization work. After some investigation I found that shortcuts are automaticaly copied from ~/Library/Dictionaries/CoreDataUbiquitySupport/... to ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist under NSUserDictionaryReplacementItems key on this new account, but on my real account they don't appear there. If I add some shortcut to .GlobalPreferences.plist manualy, it works in applications as expected. So something which is responsible for keeping CoreDataUbiquitySupport and .GlobalPreferences.plist in sync doesn't work, probably. Any ideas, how this can be fixed?
By the way, there is one more issue with shortcuts: add/remove/reset to defaults buttons are missing in Keyboard Preferences → Text.

Changed DVD drive from Region 1 - 3 now doesn't work

I rented a movie that ha a region 3 code set in it.
I changed my DVD drive to region 3 to watch it.
It worked fine.
But now It is not mounting at all.
And when I open DVD Player, DVD player says " A valid DVD drive could not be found [-70012]

After trying to install last update my itunes now doesn't work- have tried reinstalling and it gets struck saying mobile device not responding. Itunes says unable to successfully install itunes.

After a message on my computer to install an update a few days ago- I now can't open Itunes and have a message saying a module isn't working and I need to re install Itunes. However when I try to reinstall Itunes I keep getting an error message saying mobile device not working and then a message saying unable to install itunes. Any clues- Is apple stuffing up agian or is my computer mis behaving?

Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.

Faulty back and now doesn't work.

I dropped my iPad which cracked the screen and damaged some of the back. So i took it to John Lewis (where i bought it from) and they told me to send it to a company and they can fix it. I sent it off and then received it back within a month. They fixed the glass on the front but they also replaced the back aluminium cover with the same design back, but the apple logo is much bigger and the writing at the bottom (made in china etc.) is in feint writing instead of the usual black. We're not too bothered about this, but now, the iPad will only work when plugged into the mains and then immeditaley switches off as soon as it is unplugged. I am not sure what to do about this. Can i take it to an Apple Store? my only worry is they wont fix it becuase it doesnt have the original back

alle addtional tries a got the internal error.
It seem for me there is an old 32bit- dll in the CSM 4.2.

External Hard Drive worked and now doesn't work

I've got a Macbook Pro and a Seagate external USB hard drive. I had the hard drive attached and everything was going good until it became disconnected from the computer without being ejected. Now whenever I try to plug it in i get a message saying that the disk is unreadable to this computer, or something to that effect.
After searching around, some people have suggested to others in similar situations to use Disk Utilities to repair it. When I open Disk Utilities, the HD is listed in the sidebar, but it won't let me repair it, or mount it.
Any suggestions for getting the hard drive to work again? Thanks in advance!

This may be of some help.
For Seagate drives, you can download the free SeaTools utilities from Seagate's website. Unfortunately I think they only run on a PC. However, you should be able to look at and test the drive with these utilities. I had a Seagate drive that somehow had it's partition info altered when I plugged it into an old laptop. I put the drive physically into a PC laptop and then used SeaTools on a boot CD to reset the drive back to its Native Drive capacity. Took it out and back to the Mac and then everything was visible again.

Safari 4.0 now doesn't work on Mac OS X 10.4.11, why?

So I've been using the Beta, moved over to the full 4.0 version, and now my Top Sites produces this super elongated screen and the edit button at the bottom will allow me to go in to edit, but won't allow me to make any changes at all.
Plus, when I try to use other searches the screen is messed up and I can't read anything.
I never had these problems before... Can anyone help me before I lose my minD?!?!
I've had to move over to Firefox because its the only browser that works now!!

Did you install security update 2009-002? Safari 4 needs this to work.
Have you tried this:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
