Superdrive update giving me a weird message when I turn it on

Ever since my last update I keep getting an error when I turn on my MacBook saying there is no device that needs the Superdrive Update 2.1.
What is the deal? Can I remove this update so it doesn't pop up? Can I undo the update?

All you need to do is go to system preferences, then acounts, then login items, and uncheck and remove it there

Time Machine keeps giving me an error message when I try to back up to my Lacie drive. It won't back up and I can't find where to fix it.

I was having the same problem with my LaCie hard drives, both of them had errors like that and wouldn't eject properly. They would be fine after turning off and then remounting and so on, but then it would start again after a while. So I looked on LaCie's web site for any software updates and I found a usb firmware update from last October and applied it to both drives and now they're perfect. Sorry, I can't find it on their web site right now, but you might want to remember this if it persists and apply the update if you haven't.

Found this fix here which worked for me with a similar problem.

With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Reboot and see if all is well.

  • I updated to snow leopard recently and when i turned on my macbook every file from pictures and music was on my desktop.. are these copies? is there an easy way to put them where they belong like music with itunes, pictures in iphoto and so on

Hi, I updated to snow leopard recently and when I turned my macbook back on icons from every file of pictures and music i have were all over my desktop
how can i get them to all go to their programs like music to itunes, pictures to iphoto,  do I have to do it individually? thanks for any help

If the icons have a black arrow bottom left corner, then the icons are just aliases, not the Application itself. You can move those icons to the Trash.

Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever version of Firefox for Win98 / SE / ME.
You can get it from here, but you are better off using K-Meleon (derived from Firefox) or Opera instead an old version of Firefox:
    [ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/win32/en-US/]
You can try KernelEx to get Firefox 3+ to work, but it would be very slow with an old PC of less than 750Mhz. 3.5 and later supposedly doesn't work.

  • Weird message when updating my ipod.

I'm getting the following message when I try to update my ipod.
"The ipod "xxxxxxx" cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found.
I did uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. I installed the ipod updater. I restored my ipod and I'm still getting the same message.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

    well done sp1nnaker!
(toonz taught me that trick. yay toonz!)
the photo cache is created automatically. usually it's no problem at all, except on the rare occasions when it gets damaged. then you can get this error, or occasionally this one:
"Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod
so unless you run into a corruption issue again, you shouldn't be caused much grief by it.

  • Getting a weird message when updating apps

I am getting the following message when I am try to update my wife's iPhone 4 (ATT) apps from the phone itself:
"This discounter price is only available to customers who own a previous version of this item. T purchase this item at full price, click Buy."
    Any ideas?

You'll get that message if you have a different iTunes account synced to your phone from the one used to originally purchase these apps. On your phone: Settings>Store...what Apple ID is shown? Now, go to your iTunes library, right-click on one of the apps involved, what account does it show was used to originally obtain that app? Do the accounts match?

  • Weird messages when syncing

Hi, I got my ipod last christmas and this is the first time I've experienced a problem with it. Whenever I try and sync my ipod, a few songs will sync and then it will stop, and a message saying "The iPod "My iPod" canot be synced. The required disc cannot be found". I've updated the newest version, and when I try and restore it, another weird message comes up saying something like "an unknown error occurred" I've read through the user manuals and I've tried a few different things but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help?

    Michael,
    Same delay each time....
Permissions repair on my system takes about 30 minutes.
Do you have a problem with your system?
    I have used:
    Cocktail
    Onyx
And Booted into the original Leopard disk and used Disk Utility
If not, your post leads me to believe that you are over-maintaining, and over concerned.
    ;~)

  • Adobe updates: I've gotten error messages when trying to download pdfs (very annoying). Read somewhere that mac os has problems with the adobe extensions, thus, causing error messages from adobe. I ignore the updates. Should I?

    Hi All,
I have stopped updating adobe software b/c I read that the adobe update software inserts extensions into the mac software system, causing annoying/time consuming error messages when downloading new pdfs. I get adobe update notices 2-3x/week. What do you recommend? I use an iMac OS 10.94.
    thanks for your help.

Preview will do all that and is part of the OS.
Mac Basics: Preview app views and edits PDFs and images
With Adobe, if it's working, then it should be fine. See here

  • Adobe reader keeps giving me an error message when trying to download.

Adobe reader keeps giving me an erro message everytime I try and download something.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • IPod Comes Up with Error Message when I turn it on...

Ok. My cousin has a 4th Generation iPod, year and a half old (out of warranty).
I know I've seen this question in the forums before, but I was can't seem to find the answer.
When he turns on the iPod, it comes up with www.apple.com/support, after the little Apple shows up.
Then, it just kinda shuts off (from what I understood during our conversation, but that statment might be a little bit off).
The iPod is not recognized by his laptop (Windows XP), on the Desktop or in iTunes. When he plugs it in it just shows the battery that is like 1/4 full, but it doesn't move at all.
Can anyone help his iPod? Has its long and (relatively) prosperous life come to an end?
I appeciate help (so does my cousin)! Thanks for your help!
By the way, I forgot to tell him to Reset the iPod. If you could, please tell me if this will help or not. Also, if you could, tell me what to do if it doesn't respond to being Reset. I appreciate it!

I don't know of one place JUST for this. I usually step people thru it on the WIndows forums so 1) they don't fudge up things even more and 2) sometimes windows wants to be a pain and stuff. But You can go here and roll down to "Format in windows" http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=361771
There are cases where even in disk mode it will not show, or only show for a second in windows under "My Computer". And in these cases you have to open task manager (Hold altctrldel all together to open it) goto the "Process tab", highlight "iPOdservice.exe" and hit end process. If you have to do this, you will have to restart windows when its done formatting so the "ipodservice.exe" is started again in the background and you can use the ipod updater to restore it

I have a HP Photosmart C7280-CC564A All in one printer and when I turn it on I get blue screen on printer with B24C1700 on it and
you cannot go any further.  It will not clear out message.  Also on front of printer the blue flourescent light on what looks like a camera is flashing.  Nothing is in the card readers next to it.

    HI,
You might try resetting the printer.  The document linked hear isn't your exact error message, but it contains the reset instructions that might clear this up for you.  Try the steps especially about removing the cartridges and power cord.
