SuperDrive won't burn after Yosemite update
Dear Support Community,
I have an Apple USB SuperDrive connected to my mid-2011 Mac Mini (2.5GHz dual-core i5) and recently updated to the Yosemite operating system. Following the update, I receive error messages whenever I try to burn a DVD (I have not tried to burn a CD recently).
I've done some quick searches and the closest thing I found was a suggestion to rename the com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist file. I have not tried that yet, but will likely do so shortly.
Might anyone else have had this problem and be willing to share their solution?
Thanks so much,
-ntleachman
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try to launch Mail. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Mini won't startup after Yosemite update - beeping
Hey All -
Just updated my Mac mini 2013 to OS X Yosemite. I left it alone for about an hour after it was finished downloading to complete the installation. When i came back, the mini was powered off and beeping a series of 3 beeps every 5 seconds. It won't power up. Was starting to get quite hot so i unplugged it.
Any suggestions??
JasonThe 3 beep error generally indicates a problem with RAM. (i.e. bad, unseated or incompatible)
If you have upgraded the RAM modules yourself:
1. Check to make sure that the modules are firmly seated in the slots.
2. Compare the spec's of the RAM with the "How to" link below.
3. Reinstall the original RAM modules that came in your Mini.
If you did not upgrade the RAM modules:
1. Check to make sure that the modules are firmly seated in the slots.
2. Seek help from your local Apple Authorized Service Provider.
For reference's:
see > Mac mini: How to remove or install memory
To find an AASP, go to > https://locate.apple.com/
Lastly there are no 2013 Mac Mini's. If you bought it new in the last year or so, then you most likely have a Mid 2012 model. -
Mail won't open after yosemite update
I updated my macbook pro last night to the yosemite version 10.10.3 and my mail app won't open anymore and i get the following message:
"The last time you opened Mail, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?".
I followed the advice on similar post about using disk utility, restoring using time machine, removing the mail file from the library and copying it to the desktop, but nothing works.

Macbook Air won't start after Yosemite update
Hi all,
I have a late 2013 model macbook air (just out of the 1 year warranty). I updated to Yosemite last night and to complete the install I restarted the macbook when prompted, but it never turned back ok.
I can now hear the macbook trying to start up but it does nothing. I have tried to reset the SMC and I can see the power adapter change colour from orange to green for a few seconds but this does not appear to fix the issue.
Any help is appreciated,
PeterIf that doesn't work, this link may help you identify the problem
https://www.ifixit.com/Wiki/MacBook_Air_Troubleshooting#Section_MacBook_Air_won_ t_turn_on
If you still think its SMC issue you can try manual SMC Reset (At your own risk ). Steps are..
1. Open the lower case
2. Disconnect the battery connector and after few secords connect it back and close the lid

Motion 5 won't launch after yosemite update
After updating to yosemite on both my iMac and my Macbook pro, Motion will not launch on the iMac but it will on the pro. A window pops up after attempting to launch, saying: "You can’t use this version of the application “Motion” with this version of OS X. You have “Motion” 5.0.5."
Any ideas? Much Thanks. You need to login to the App Store with the same Apple ID that you bought Motion 5 with for the update to show up.

My Mac just updated to 10.10.1. Now iTunes won't display on screen. I can play songs by hitting the play key. If as I am typing this I click on the iTunes icon the tool bar does not show up at top for iTunes, but the tool bar will show up if I shut down safari. How do I get my iTunes app back?
iMac 2.7GHz i5 8gb 1600mHz DDR3OPPS!! Figured it out still had second monitor cord in, and thus was it displaying on the monitor that wasn't on. Duh

Bootcamp won't load after Yosemite Update
So after trouble with Yosemite freezing in which i was able to fix, i tried to boot back into Windows on my bootcamp drive.
When i went into Startup Disk, i selected the Bootcamp Drive i had windows installed on. All i got was a black screen and then saw the message that the boot device could not be found. I restarted the computer and held down option to see the boot drives on that, but only drives that showed up was my OS X partition and Restore option. So my partition for windows was not found on boot.
I see a lot of people posting about losing their bootcamp partition or saying it was renamed, i don't know if this is the same issue. Is there any way to fix this or will i have to reinstall windows? Here is the output for the following commands
Sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0
sudo fdisk /dev/disk0
diskutil list

ITunes won't open after OS update to Yosmite
ITunes won't open after OS update, ITunes has been updated, it won't open or bounce. It will not allow me to move it to trash or reinstall it. I have already updated to OS X Yosmite two times as directed by apple, I have rebooted in safe made as well as Command/Option/P/R before start up. I have opened console/system log to see if there is anything going on but when I click on Itunes nothing happens, not even so much as half a line of script. I'm stumped. If I wanted someone to tell me to turn it off and on again I'd just watch IT Crowd. please help
Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
If you head into your applications folder and locate iTunes. Right click iTunes and show package contents. In there there will be a contents folder --> MacOS --> double click on the iTunes terminal icon. This should force iTunes to open via a terminal window and at the very least it will tell you what it is getting stuck on. -

macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/ -

I had similar problem this time and last time when I upgrade/update iTune, and subsequently solved the problem through the help of this person. You may give it a try and see if this works for you. It works for me now and then. Good luck.
