Superdrive wont read

My disk drive quit working today. I tried to burn a cd and a couple error messages popped up, and now when i try to insert any cd it will spin in the drive and then eject it. any suggestions?

Superdrive wont read discs anymore

My superdrive was working perfectly fine, I used it for hours which i think might be a part of my problem but suddenly after inserting a disc it stopped responding, the disc still spins around and makes noises and seems like its working but nothing shows up on my desktop. after a long time maybe 5 mins or so it says that the cd is blank and asks me how i want to continue!!!! CD i inserted is not blank! PLLLZZ HELP MMEEE

I have always had a Mac Mini desktop. I had 3 Superdrives just quit working or have issues over the years. I could plug in an external DVD drive and the disk and other functions would work fine. But the internal drive would not read the disk! My MacBook would read the disk with the internal drive, but not the MacMini. I have upgraded my MacMini and there is no superdrive, so I connected an external unit and I have not had any problems. My MacBook internal drive has never had problems and it's at least 6 yrs old now.
For some reason, I just never had those superdrives work for very long in the MacMini desktop. If out of warranty, the least expensive way to go is to buy an external drive and see if that works for you. OWC, which carries a lot of Mac related stuff, has some at reasonable prices, fast shipping and they are a reliable company. No, I don't work there.
Btw, I never found any workarounds. Once they started messing up, they only got worse.
Oops, I meant to reply to OP! But, now I can't find a way to change that. Sorry.

Superdrive wont read ANYTHING!

I just bought my mini yesterday and the superdrive has already stopped working. In the beginning it was fine until i put in a DVD and started to copy some files, it had a problem copying one file and then the screen froze. After that i had to restart and eject the disk. I tried putting all sorts of disks in, even the mighty mouse installation got ejected. What should i do?

I have tried Sony, Verbatim, and Philips...I thought of that too...also I mixed up with +r, and -r...no changes...but Thx...!

SuperDrive wont read disc

Whenever I insert a disc it will immediately eject it. I've tried to update the software via the utilities folder, that keeps giving me an error message "There was an error installing this update. Quit all open applications and try updating again. If the problem continues, contact Apple support." Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Same problem.. after the Firmware update, I can read only the official audio cd...
All my movie DVD doesn't work and it is impossible to writ any disk...

I think that i will bring my computer to apple for fix it. Hopfully it is under waranty!
I'm already watching and asking for serval forum and people... and it's look like if I downgrade by myself my computer it will not be under waranty longer...
I will tcheque for sevral days more any way.. if i see something I will keep you in touch. :-s

Mackbook air superdrive WONT READ CD-R WITH PHOTO'S ON

I Have a Macbook Air superdrive but it will not open CD-R with photo's on to my Macbook Air note book

Look in System Preferences > CDs & DVDs > review actions.
Also to show on desktop in Finder, on the menubar, Finder > Preferences > General tab > check CDs & DVDs.

Mac mini wont read disc drive

Just got an audio interface for garage band however mac mini wont read the disc drive to load software. It has worked in the past. Tryed an audio cd and its not reading that either.

DVR 109 wont read disks

Recently found a old G5 (DB 2.0 - June 2004) in a storage room. Which has the DVR-107PB superdrive installed; web searching shows that later versions shipped with the DVR-109. Coincidentally, I happen to have a DVR-109 in an old PC too ;o)
The firmware on the DVR109 was already upgrade to 1.58 (the latest from Pioneer (back in the day)).
I'd like to replace the installed 107 with the 109, however, when installed in the G5 the 109 wont read any burned or blank disks... just spits them back out.
Dual Layer would be nice, anyway to get the Apple A912 firmware?

Internal CD Wont read discs

Hi all,
for about a year and a half, my emac's internal CD drive wont read CDs.
the disc spins, but after about 30 seconds, it spits it out. I have been using an external LaCie cd drive, but i would like to know if there is a way to fix my cd drive.
The CD Drive model is: Pioneer DVD-RW (superdrive) rev. A227

If several passes with a CD lens cleaner don't help, you can look over the optical drive replacement tips in Apple eMac Upgrade Guide (which should make continuing to use your external LaCie drive look much. much easier --- opening the eMac isn't that hard, it's putting it back together in working condition that can be unnerving, especially the first time you attempt the task!).

No music in iTunes library and it wont read the content of my iPod? Help please!

So I recently updated to iTunes 10.7 and when I did, all of the content in the iTunes library was gone! i have tried many different things to get it to work, like restoring to a previous iTunes library, but it appears that all the previous iTunes libraries were also deleted when I updated! If there is no other way to get the music back than finding the original files and putting them into iTunes, I guess that will be ok.
The second problem I am having is that when ever I try to sync my iPod it takes a very long time to load, and then it says that iTunes can't read the content of my iPod and that I should restore to the factory settings, but because there is no music or apps in my iTunes library I dont want to do that, because then I will have no way of getting all of my content back on. And I can't restore to a previous backup because it wont read it as my iPod, it just comes up as an unkown iPod. This is very frustrating and I have tried everything I can think of. Please help!

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try another cable and another USB port
- Reboot the computer.
- See if you can find the media by:
- See if a third-party progtam like one of those discussed here will allow you to get the music off the iPod

- I think you may end up restoring the iPod.

Every time i connect it to itunes all it says is "There is no SIM card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate." Even thought there is a sim card connected in my phone.

Is the SIM from a supported carrier?
Is the device carrier locked, officially unlocked, or hacked to be unlocked?
Has the SIM been reseated? If not, try that.
Also, basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore. Has any of that been tried?

Itunes wont read iphone, thinks it's a digital camera...help

I dont know what happened, but when I first got my PC with vista 64, and had itunes installed with the iphone, everything worked. 3 days ago I reformatted my drives and reinstall windows and all my programs. I got itunes working with all my music and whatnot, but when I plug my iphone in to toss music on it, itunes wont read it. Windows knows it's there, but everytime I plug it in, the lower right hand corner the "windows is installing new driver blah blah" pops up, and then get an error message saying it couldnt install the driver. I go to device manager and windows thinks it's a digital camera. I did the whole update driver with the "c:\windows\system32\drivestore\usbaapl_" thing, and I got this message:
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

The system cannot find the file specified."
I have been googling the crap out of this and I am at wit's end with this. I've uninstalled/reinstalled itunes, cleaned registry, wiped all apple programs from the PC, anything google told me to, hahaha. Serious, I cant find any forum or web article to help me past this point. Please help...

I think I got it. I've had the same problem as you and many others. I went to device manager and found iPhone under imaging devices. Here's what I did:
Right-click -> properties -> driver tab -> update drivers (launches Hardware Update Wizard) select...
No, not this time (next) Install from a list ... (next) Don't search ... (next) Now there should be two choices under model. Select the Apple Mobile Device. This is not digitally signed so you'll get warnings but continue. When I did this iTunes picked up my iPhone right away.

So from your description, the drive isn't mounting on the desktop?
Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities), and see if the drive appears in the left pane. If it does, but it's greyed out, highlight it and wait for a few seconds - eventually the Mount button should become live - click it and see if that clears the problem.
If not, it's possible that the drive has been damaged, usually by removing it without unmounting (ejecting) it first.
If you have access to a Windows machine, it may be possible to mount it on there, eject it properly and try again on the Mac. This has been known to work reasonably frequently.

After many days of frustration, I try a stupid thing.... Put the SD card in the Lock Position and... Voilá!
The way I find to access the content is put the SD card in the Lock position..

Hi, itunes wont update on windows7, and after unsuccesfull updates (several) now my ipod wont read on itunes, it does show up on windows as a driver, have researched this a lot ,getting weary now..have deleted affliliated apple files etc , reinstalled , have several issue messages, one warning was , please download manually , go to tools and download? how do i do this? cant find a toolbar for this download? please help.

Can anybody help me. I have Itunes with Win XP Pro and it wont read a CD, just keeps telling me to enter CD in Drive. I've run CD Diagnostics(there was an audio Cd in the drive at the time) with the following result, can anyone interrupt this for a numpty computer user like me and tell me what the problem is and what I should do?

Well, the CD diagnostics thinks the drive empty. What happens if you go to Windows Explorer with an audio CD in the drive and try to explore the CD? Do other applications, like Windows Media Player see the CD?
