Superior of a position OM

Does anybody know if there is a FM that finds the superior (manager) for a position given? Who is the boss for that position?!

    You'll need to go by extracting data quite a few times through HRP and PA tables. SE16.
    Function modules..u'l get the data for single employee unless u use it in Z report.
    1. Find all O-S  B012 relationships  -- Chief
    2. For all chiefs find subordinates S-S B002 relationship (keep one wrksheet for this)
    3. PA0001 find personnel numbers for all positions for ENDDA 31.12.9999
    4. PA0002 find person names
    5. VLOOKUP the personnel numbers against postion names and employee names against personnel numbers in the same sheet.
    Seems a very tedious process but I had used the same to extract these details, did not find nething standard.

    I'm trying to solve this issue and I'm not sure how to go up in OM structure. I want to return the manager for a position given, this is ok, but when the manager position is vacant I have to go up in the structure and get the superior-superior of this position and if this position is vacant, I have to go up again in the structure, can anybody tell me if there is any function or any relationship for doing this? I was thinking in get the organizational unit for the position and then the position in which this organizational units belongs...is this correct?!

    I have seen two ways this is done. One is using reports to (002) relation. Get the reports to relation
    of the position to find the superior position of the manager and then find out its holder. Otherway
    is find the org unit in which manager's position belongs to (003). Then find the org unit to which
    this org unit belongs to. Find manager of that org unit.
    It depends on how org management is done in the system.

    InDesign may well be the best bet. It's a page layout application that allows you to import a variety of text and graphic formats and arrange them on the page. It also has a Table of Contents feature Driven by paragraph styles (so you may need to add non-printing text labels for non-text items you want to include), and it allows you to export as PDF and SWF, as well as eps or jpeg (which isn't great -- you'll get better results rasterizing a PDF in Photoshop).
    Normally when importing word files you do the formatting in InDesign to take advantage of it's superior typography and positioning, but you can certainly preserve as much or as little as you like of what you've done in Word. The exception to this is images you've included in your Word documents. Those should be imported again separately (you can copy/paste them with proper preference settings, but the results are usually not very satisfactory). If you want an absolute copy of the Word document, it is probably best to make a PDF from Word and import that instead.
    If you have some more specific questions it will make it easier to give you the information you need.

I'm consequently trying to put together a portfolio in an easily accessed format (PDF) that showcases writing, editing, and graphic generation samples. What is the best Adobe product to do this? I need something that will let me bring in Word documents while retaining their formatting - and also then let me organize my content in pretty ways, all indexed by a table of contents.

    I'm trying to use CJ37 [Supplement Budget] for a WBS element...
    It appears this message "Overall budget and/or annual budget cannot be processed"...
    When I go to CJ20n tcode,
    Edit > WBS Element > Investment Programs -> Investment Program, in order to assign the WBS to a Invest. Prog., it appears a message "WBS superior element is account assignment element"
    Actually, this WBS Invest. Program. is based on AuC (Asset Under Construction).
    The question is: how can I supplement budget for this project/WBS element provided that it's not related to a prog. invest. position?

         MessageTransform bean will not work in your case as for the csv files, the number of fields need to be fixed.
    So if your file came like : Atest 1'Btest2'Ctest3''Etest5'Ftest6, with an additional ' for the missing segment, the bean would have been able to recognise the empty segment.
    With the field seperator itself missing, the MTB will not know the missing segment and consider the next available segment in its place.
    Try to go for a 2 step conversion. Define the first structue as containing only one field with field seperator as new line character.
    Then, in a message map, convert from this structure to the actual sender structure.
    Alternatively, you can go for a custom adapter module as well.

  • Using Rule 168, SWX_GET_MANAGER and Chief Position

    We have enabled standard SAP Travel Workflow WS20000040 - Approve Trip.   We are not currently using OM relationships A002 (Reports Line to) or B002 (Is Line Supervisor of).   We currently identify the Line Manager of the employee using the Chief Position designation A 012 and would like to use this for Trip approvals in lieu of building all of these additional relationships.
    Rule 168 is bound to the workflow.  According to the documentation associated with the rule, it seems that the rule should work with either the A002 or A012 relationship.  However, we only seem to be getting a superior identified when relationship A002/B002 exists.  
    Are there additional configuration or parameter settings that we might need to consider to make the manager (agent) determined properly exclusively with the Chief Position assignment?

    What I found through trial and error is that rule 168 does indeed evaluate the A012 relationship by default with no change in the standard evaluation path.  In our testing system, the "Chief" postion was not properly assigned.  Once this was resolved, the workflow works properly.
    As a side note, I also learned that you must have the parameter WFLOW VAPOS set for the rule to properly look up the organizational structure when a position (and chief) are vacant.

  • SWX_GET_MANAGER and Vacant position

    I am working on a approval workflow for Budget Distribution Request. When a person requests for a budge, it has to go to the Manager and his superiors of that department who will either approve or reject it. (I have employee SAP USER ID).
    I am using the Rule 00000168 but when the superior is on vacation or the position is vacant the FM attached to this rule will not fetch me the details there by stopping my approval process.
    So how to proceed in this scenario.

    another option to use the function RH_ACT_LEADING_POSITION or SWX_GET_MANAGER as implemented in rule 157 or in 168.
    But:
    - in the previous node you call this function to evaluate the manager
    - if there is no manager/result you can throw an exception which is implemented in your method - then in the workflow as a new outcome
    - react to your exception as you wish in the outcome

       whether I miss certain operation  ? how can I get the correct superior ?

    Well,The output of SWX_GET_MANAGER can only be User or Position.
    As per the assignment where the Business Partner is assigned to the Position, this FM gets the BP as an agent and in the final stage of this FM, this BP Agent entry gets deleted due to the following statement.
      DELETE actor_tab WHERE otype <> 'P' AND
                             otype <> 'US'.
    So, by this we can infer that you cannot determine the Person attached to that BP(that was attached to the Position) using 168 rule. You may have to create a custom Rule in these regards if you insist to go with Position-BP-Employee strategy.

  • Org Unit with more than one Chief Position

    Hi,
    we have implemented MSS via the portal using a one-to-one relationship between Org Units and Chief Positions, and we would now like to have multiple Chief positions attached to one Org Unit.
    As far as I can tell from the SAP documentation, this should be straightforward, but the results we are getting do not seem correct.
    I have an Org Unit that has position 1 and position 2 assigned to it with relationship A/B 012 denoting that they are Chief Positions.
    User 1 is holder of position 1 and user 2 is holder of position 2. 
    Both users have the same security roles.
    The views used on the portal are configured using the MSS Object and Data Provider functionality, using the standard ORGEH view, evaluation path for root objects SAP_MANG and evaluation path objects SBES.  The checkbox 'Excl. Managers' is ticked.
    The problem is this - both users can see all the subordinate employees in the Org Unit when they log on to MSS but user 1 can also see user 2 in his list of employees, which is not correct as user 1 and user 2 are both chiefs.  User 2 cannot see user 1 in his list of employees, which we would expect.
    The only logic we can see for user 1 being able to see user 2's details is that user 1 must be somehow defined as the 'superior' Chief Position, but we have not defined this as far as we know.
    Any ideas as to why this is happening for us?

    Hi Fran,
    Sounds like you have set up the reporting structures and MSS properly.  I do question why two chiefs for one org unit.  As you stated, both can see all employees and so both can approve time, give pay increases, etc. without the approval of the other.  If this is want you want, then you have set it up properly.  Usually, one has to approve the actions of the other, thus, is in a superior relationship.  This can be handled by having a higher level new org unit with the higher person as chief and the lower stay as head of the lower org unit which reports to it. 
    As you have it now, both individuals have the same rights and access.  They should both be excluded from iViews if you checked the "Excl. Managers" box.  Since, you just recently made one a manager, have you checked for any date dependencies?  If the Chief #1 is selecting a view for "Current Year", for example, he would be able to see all persons who reported to him for this year, which includes Chief #2.  There are no 'superior chief' designations (except by structure), so without being able to view your configuration, my suggestion is to check all dates for the assignments and relationships vs. dates of the view.

    and

    Extended object id = SAP log on name

    object type as ‘US’
    I am unable to get the superior ..
    Please advice what could be the cause of it . do we need to change some HR setting ie saving relation  in some info type or some thing can be done in workflow to resolve it .

    While maintaining equipment location using tcode IE02,
    I need to maintain a check to ensure that if an equipment gets attached to a superior  equipment at a particular position then the system should not allow for any other equipment at that particular position and also that equipment should not be attached to any other position.
    eg if some equipment eq1 is attached to FE(front end) of some superior equipment SEQ1 then at FE no other equipment can be attached and eq1 should not be attached to any other superior equipment .
    Also i found out the following with regards to position as per SAP.
    "The system does not check the content of the field Position. Particularly in the case of functional locations, it does not check whether position labels are unique under a superior functional location."
    Please let me know how this can be done. Do i need to implement any user exit. If yes then which one.

    that is a warning message only ... But if you want to fix it then replace all 000 with 001 in your write statement. The position instead of 000 you have to give 001
    write : /000(10)....instead of this
    write : /1(10) or write : /(10) or write : /001(10) any thing you can use.
