  • Changing font in Oracle Report in PDF output

    Hi,
I have created reports using dev10g(report builder). I can run report from client side in pdf format but I want to change the font (i.e from courier to Arial narrow).
    How can I do this?
Is there anyone who can help me?

    # Typically, a TTC font contains several fonts in one file. For example,
    # the TTC file, msgothic.ttc consists of three fonts in the order -
    # MS Gothic, MS PGothic and MS UI Gothic. To subset MS PGothic, the
    # entry in the PDF:Subset section of uifont.ali would be:
    # "MS PGothic" = "msgothic.ttc,1"
    # NOTES ON PRECEDENCE OF PDF SECTIONS:
    # If you have entries for a same font in many PDF sections, then Font
    # Aliasing entry will take precedence over Font Subsetting entry. Entries
    # in Font Subsetting will take precedence over the entries in Font Embedding
    # section.
    # Generic entries for a font must follow more specific entries for the same
    # font. For instance, if you want to subset helvetica Plain, helvetica Bold,
    # helvetica Italic and helvetica Bold-Italic fonts, your entries must be:
    # [ PDF:Subset ]
    # helvetica..Italic.Bold.. = "Arialbi.ttf"
    # helvetica...Bold.. = "Arialb.ttf"
    # helvetica..Italic... = "Ariali.ttf"
    # helvetica..... = "Arial.ttf"
    # If helvetica..... entry appears in the top of the list, all the styles of
    # helvetica font in the layout will be subset as helvetica Plain font.

  • Custom Fonts In Oracle Report

I have created a Custom Report (Output:PDF) using Oracle 9i, It has Custom Font, When I ran the report the custom fonts are displayed as special characters, Can someone please let me know how can i configure fonts to get picked up by report.

Make sure you have a TTF file under the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/TTF and an AFM for that missing under the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/AFM directory.
Modify the uifont.ali under the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin directory and add PDF Subsetting to reference the font. You'll want to open the AFM file to see what the "Font Family Name" parameter is. That is what you put on the left side of the "=" sign. The TTF file is what you reference in the right side of the equals sign. So, basically it is "Font Family Name"="TTF Font Name".
Save the file, restart Reports Server, and run your report. Then it should work.
IF you don't know how to generate an AFM file, I'd look at the ttf2pt1 utility. I used that utility to generate my AFM file (based on the TTF font).
Now, this will not solve problems when sending it to the printer directly. BUt it will resolve it when generating a PDF and then printing to the printer that file output.

  • Is it possible to change the font name and size without having to compile?

    Dear All
We have one requirement that we need to change the font name and font size at run time dynamically without having to compile all the forms in 6i.
Is there any way or work around to achieve the same.Kindly suggest us.
something like using uifont.ali or forms60_defaultfont, or set_item_property

    Dear All,
Thanks for your updates, Technically what both of you said is correct. but in application server we used something like ClientDPI to match the client server font with the application server, i need to know that is there anyother way something like this...?
I have read one document(Note:28397.1 in metalink) saying that using uifont.ali file we can change the font at run time, but i have used this only for report

  • Fonts when sending Reports via Printer Option (10g Reports / Redhat 5)

When I send a Oracle 10g report to the printer, which PPD file is it using? The printer you install on the server or the one in ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/PPD directory?
I installed a printer on the Linux Server and copied the file to the ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/PPD directory. I added some new fonts in the PPD so that the report would pick some Windows fonts that didn't exist originally on the Linux. I installed the fonts on the server and am able to see them in PDF Output options on the server.
When I send the report with the same parameters to the printer directly, it doesn't see those fonts. I only modified the PPD for that printer on ORACLE_HOME/guicommon/tk/admin/PPD directory. So I was wondering if I have to do it on the installed server file as well or not.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Chris

This was a response that I received from Oracle Support. Basocally, I'd have to install the font in the internal printer memory to get this to work.
Is there a way to send a Report to PDF in Oracle Forms and then at the same time once that PDF is generated, send it to the printer (without user interaction). That would take care of my problem. That would take care of my printing issue. I know PDF's work and I know I can print them displaying the fonts just fine.
    Support Response:
Fonts need to be present in the PPD file as well as the internal printer memory .
    Reason is as follows.
1)Based on PPD file , Font metrics will be used to create thye PS file with the correct font names.
2)When the PS file is sent to the the printer, actual fonts are not sent . Note that this is a limitation of Oracle Reports PS driver on unix and . Hence, it is required to have a printer that has the fonts installed in its memory/system.
Currently there is an internal pending enhancement request to upgrade the Postscript driver of Oracle Reports

  • Font Issue in Reports Developer 10g Linux

    Dear Members,
I am facing a problem while migrating the reports from 6i to 10g Linux. When I migrate any report in 10g Linux, I have to set the format and font name along with its size.
Is there any way to have the same font and size after migrating?
I have to migrate more than 300 reports and it will take so much time to set the formatting once again.
Please send me the steps to configure the font in Linux or send me any meta-link note #
    With kind regards,

    hello,
You have to check first the fonts you are using in your reports and from there you can either install them on your AS or make your reports compatible with your deployment platform etc...
Please check www.degenio.com as I have documented the problems we had when deploying our reports on UNIX.

  • Embedding Fonts in 9i Reports

    Hi,
I know this feature is suppose to be available in 9i Reports. I am wondering how this is done. Is it suppose to be done automatically? What has to be done to specify a particular font to be embedded in the report? We would like to embed the barcode font into a reports which is accessed via the web through the reports server running on 9iAS. Is this possible?
    Thanks
    Chad

    Chad
If you have not seen , the white paper is published on OTN
To embed a barcode font, you need to just do the following things
    1. Select the font in the reports builder layout model for your object. If you can't find the font in the list, you can aribitaririly select a font and then do the aliasing by
specifying it in uifont.ali file under [PDF] section as example
    Arial = <your barcode font name>
    2. In uifont.ali file, under [PDF EMBED] section, specify the font name and the PFM , PFB files, like
    SAdvac a. PFM a.PFB
    3. Pass the PDFEMBED command line parameter as YES
    Thanks

  • Chart (Graph) Font Name - Formatting Formula

    Hi,
I am displaying chart in report, and I have requirement to select (format) font name with some condition (e.g.. As per database language, if database is english - Font Name: "Times New Roman", if database version is Spanish - Font Name: "Arial" etc.)
Currently I am trying to add "Font Name" formula for x-axis in Graph by "Formula Fields -> Formatting Formulas -> Report Footer -> Report Footer A -> Graph2" and Right click "New Font Formula -> Font Name -> Use Editor", but nothing happens. I tired and noticed It works for "Background Color" .
Please let me know, how can I add Font Name formula for Graph.
Note: I am working with Crystal XI

You are right, I also want to format x-axis field values but how can I reach (access) to "x-axis" field formatting formula for Graph. In Formula Workshop I can find hierarchy upto Graph level only, I cannot find any node such as X-axis, Y-axis under it.

  • Discoverer Report: How to find Business Area name from Report Name.

    Hi
I opened a report in Disco Desktop 4 -> Resonsibiolity --> Report Name.
So I know Report name but don’t know which Business Area it belongs to.
How to find Business Area Name from Report Name?
    Cheers
    Vijay

    Hi,
There is no relationship between reports and business areas. Each report can be built from many folders. Each folder can be in many business areas.
However you can try the following SQL which may give you the result you want for an v5 EUL. You will have to modify for Discoverer 4 EUL:
    select distinct doc_name, obj.obj_name folder_name, bas.ba_name
    from eul_us.eul5_documents doc
    , eul_us.eul5_elem_xrefs xref
    , eul_us.eul5_expressions exp
    , eul_us.eul5_objs obj
    , eul_us.eul5_ba_obj_links bol
    , eul_us.eul5_bas bas
    where xref.ex_from_id = doc.doc_id
    and doc.doc_name = &your_report
    and xref.ex_to_id = exp.exp_id
    and obj.obj_id = exp.it_obj_id
    and bol.bol_obj_id = obj.obj_id
    and bas.ba_id = bol.bol_ba_id

  • Why can't I see usernames and/or mahcine names in reports?

We are demoing the 650 web content filter, and really like them for the blocking, but for some reason we aren't seeing the usernames or machine names in reports, only IP addresses of the users machines. Did I set this up wrong? I set it for authentication using ntlmssp, but I dont know if it is working correctly... Can someone help please? Thanks! John Truxton

    John,
If the WSA knows the username, it will be logged in the reports. It's possible that you are matching rules that do not require authentication or perhaps the authentication isn't working correctly?
Check the access logs to verify that the usernames are present.
If authentication isn't working or if the names are present in the access logs, it's recommended that you contact support for a deeper analysis of the issue.

It is ...rpt file as output from Crystal Reports. I tried few commands in Query Builder but usually they finished with timeout error.
Could you help me and send specific command? Or way how to change timeout of Query Builder?
    Thanks.

    Hello all,
    We finally found solution.
We knew that file is located on path .../Output/a_145/009/002/133521/~ce10c.....9332.rtf
This file has more than 2 GB. We tried to find which report is related and provide necessary actions.
As I mentioned we still failed due to timeout error - There was an error retrieving data from the server: CMS operation timed out after 9 minutes.
So we tried to use our testing environment. We started there QueryBuilder and there we successfully tested that we found details about files from FileStore /like Name of the report in Launch Pad, CUID, ...
    SELECT SI_NAME, SI_CUID, SI_FILES FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_FILES.SI_PATH = 'frs://Input/a_148/020/000/5268/'

  • Font issue between Reports Designer and Report Output

    Hi.
I've succesfully migrated several reports from 6i to 10g (10.1.2.0.2) with and without parameter form. However, I have the following font issue:
    - When report is run from Reports Designer, font is kept.
    - When report is run from a forms module (through rwserver on the same machine, that is not really from an application server, but using Oracle BC4J or Developer Suite enviroment) the report output is different. In this case a bigger font is displayed and occasional truncation happens for some fields.
The question is: How can i avoid this difference in font behaviour?. Is it font.ali related?. How come this happen on the same machine(Windows XP)? These reports are to be deployed on Linux, where reasonably, and font machine is expected to happen.
    Font used: Arial (Occidental) 9

this might be an issue with the printer that is associated also, and the permissions to the printer that you might have..
login to the application server machine and restart the reports server as an admin..try running the reports via the URL..i have a feeling that this issue might be somethiing to do with the permission(s) to the printer from your AS machine
