Supervision automate dsc

bonjour,
merci d'avance!

  • How to supervise Replication Process

    Hello,
On Directory Server 5.2. How can i supervise the replication process ? I want to supervise automaticly the process : if it is running or not. The best way (if it's possible), without scan access log.
    Can you help me

I have not used the Perl tools I mentioned below.
Someone had recommended the use of these two tools to check if the replication has done its job of maintaining LDAP data integrity, i.e. same content before master and slave, I think this is more complete than just checking if replication is "running".

  • Supervised Profiles and automatic app updates

Does anyone have any experience using automatic downloads for apps in a supervised profile, even with the App Store disabled? I would like to find a more streamlined method, instead of having to manually plug the iPads into configurator every-time a student needs an app updated. Thanks for your help.

    Dear all
My digital Camera Sony DSC-M1 is able to take pictures and take video into mpeg4 format .
this is the revirew of this camera

Can anyone help me how to make this sync from camera to iphoto automatically both photo and video ?
At this moment , I do this manually by drag files from that folder ( /MP_ROOT/101MNV01/ ) into iphoto .

  • DSC and security features: automatic logout

    Hello,
I'm using the security features of LabVIEW 8.5.1 and the DSC module.
Does someone know how to enable the automatic logout feature (logout after a specified time without user interaction)?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tom
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Ben,
meanwhile a NI-Support-Engineer provided an answer for that issue:
If you are using LabVIEW DSC 7.1 there should be an
option in the menu where you can set the minutes of inactivity
    until the automatic logout.
In LabVIEW 8.x you will have to implement this on your
own. There is a VI that will do the logout itself but the
timing needs to be implemented by yourself.
So Ben, you are right: this functionality is simply not available anymore in LabVIEW 8.x!
There is an KnowledgeBase document targeting that problem:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0A8C5B624365A25E8625721100548970?OpenDocument
but the contained example VI doesn't make too much sense.
The problem is that the DSC_Lougout.vi ignores the "idle" in "Minutes idle until logout". It simply logs out the user after a specific time elapsed without considering if the user is still active.

  • Automatically update IOS in supervise mode

    Hello everybody,
In Prepare mode it is possible to automatically download the latest IOS and push to Ipads. But in Supervise Mode, it seems that this process is manual, that is to say that you to click check for Update in order to download the latest one. Maybe I missed something!
Does anyone know how to make it more automated?
    Thanks for helping!

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

  • DSC automatically logs you out

Quick note of a bug. Change your adminitrator setup to logout the user out after inactivity of 1 minutes. Then play around with the user profiles by adding groups or users as low an behold after a minute the user profile windows shuts down even when you are typing. It looks like the activity has to be inside a running VI.

  • HT200261 I work in a school and manage over 50 iPads. I have a new MacBook and my "backup iPad" says it is supervised by another device. I still have the old MacBook. Is there a way to remove that supervision from the iPads and add it to the new one?

I have two MacBooks. I have sole control over one of them. Our Tech Director wants me to control everything iPad in the school. I am trying to set up Apple Configurtator on the new Mac, transfer all the apps already downloaded, and everytime I plug my "backup" iPad into the new MacBook, it says, "This iPad is supervised by another computer and cannot be used with this computer. Help please!!!

Yes, Nathan. I have Automatic Download options for Music, Books, and Updates, but not for Apps. I turned on the Updates, but it didn't help. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • DSC, SQL Server 2012 Enterprise sp2 x64, SQL Server Failover Cluster Install not succeeding

Summary: DSC fails to fully install the SQL Server 2012 Failover Cluster, but the identical code snippet below run in powershell ise with administrator credentials works perfectly as does running the SQL server install interface.
In order to develop DSC configurations, I have set up a Windows Server 2012 R2 failover cluster in VMware Workstation v10 consisting of 3 nodes.  All have the same Windows Server 2012 version and have been fully patched via Microsoft Updates.
The cluster properly fails over on command and the cluster validates.  Powershell 4.0 is being used as installed in windows.
    PDC
    Node1
    Node2
The DSC script builds up the parameters to setup.exe for SQL Server.  Here is the cmd that gets built...
    $cmd2 = "C:\SOFTWARE\SQL\Setup.exe /Q /ACTION=InstallFailoverCluster /INSTANCENAME=MSSQLSERVER /INSTANCEID=MSSQLSERVER /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /UpdateEnabled=false /IndicateProgress=false /FEATURES=SQLEngine,FullText,SSMS,ADV_SSMS,BIDS,IS,BC,CONN,BOL /SECURITYMODE=SQL /SAPWD=password#1 /SQLSVCACCOUNT=SAASLAB1\sql_services /SQLSVCPASSWORD=password#1 /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS=`"SAASLAB1\sql_admin`" `"SAASLAB1\sql_services`" `"SAASLAB1\cubara01`" /AGTSVCACCOUNT=SAASLAB1\sql_services /AGTSVCPASSWORD=password#1 /ISSVCACCOUNT=SAASLAB1\sql_services /ISSVCPASSWORD=password#1 /ISSVCSTARTUPTYPE=Automatic /FAILOVERCLUSTERDISKS=MountRoot /FAILOVERCLUSTERGROUP='SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)' /FAILOVERCLUSTERNETWORKNAME=SQLClusterLab1 /FAILOVERCLUSTERIPADDRESSES=`"IPv4;192.168.100.15;LAN;255.255.255.0`" /INSTALLSQLDATADIR=M:\SAN\SQLData\MSSQLSERVER /SQLUSERDBDIR=M:\SAN\SQLData\MSSQLSERVER /SQLUSERDBLOGDIR=M:\SAN\SQLLogs\MSSQLSERVER /SQLTEMPDBDIR=M:\SAN\SQLTempDB\MSSQLSERVER /SQLTEMPDBLOGDIR=M:\SAN\SQLTempDB\MSSQLSERVER /SQLBACKUPDIR=M:\SAN\Backups\MSSQLSERVER > C:\Logs\sqlInstall-log.txt "
    Invoke-Expression $cmd2
When I run this specific command in Powershell ISE running as administrator, logged in as domain account that is in the Node1's administrators group and has domain administrative authority, it works perfectly fine and sets up the initial node properly.
When I use the EXACT SAME code above pasted into my custom DSC resource, as a test with a known successful install, run with the same user as above, it does NOT completely install the cluster properly.  It still installs 17 applications
related to SQL Server and seems to properly configure everything except the cluster.  The Failover Cluster Manager shows that the SQL Server Role will not come on line and the SQL Server Agent Role is not created.
The code is run on Node1 so the setup folder is local to Node1.
The ConfigurationFile.ini files for the two types of installs are identical.
    Summary.txt does have issues..

Status:                        Failed: see logs for details
Reason for failure:            An error occurred during the setup process of the feature.

failure . Status code: 5023. Description: The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.  .
It feels like this is a security issue with DSC or an issue with the setup in SQL Server, but please note I have granted administrators group and domain administrators authority.  The nodes were built with the same login.  Windows firewall
    is completely disabled.
Please let me know if any more detail is required.

    Hi Lydia,
Thanks for your interest and help.
I tried "Option 3 (recommended)" and that did not help.
The issue I encounter with the fail-over cluster only occurs when trying to install with DSC!
Using the SQL Server Install wizard, Command Prompt and even in Powershell by invoking the setup.exe all work perfectly.
So, to reiterate, this issue only occurs while running in the context of DSC.
I am using the same domain login with Domain Admin Security and locally the account has Administrators group credentials.  The SQL Server Service account also has Administrators Group Credentials.

  • Unable to Supervise & Restore Backup. iOS 7-7.0.2 Configurator 1.4

I have just finished a deployment of 530 iPad 4's in the school where I work. Everything went fine with 6.1.3 and configurator 1.3. Since then, configurator has automatically downloaded and installed iOS 7... Which would be fine, if it worked.
I figured out all issues related to the activation and no longer have issues there.
The steps I go through are as follows:
    Supervise a device.
Make setting changes (like disabling keyboard clicks)
    Restore Backup
Prepare for new devices by enabling supervision, restoring backup, and selecting the profile from configurator to install
    Plug it in, and wait.
It fails every time at the "waiting for device to respond" stage. The error it gives is that the USB cable is unplugged. I have even elminated my hub and am trying to do this straght from the Macbook Pro.
I am also unable to revert back to iOS 6.1.3... I have tried everything on the internet listed and it still fails at the screen that says:
On top of all of those issues, the kids that have updated to iOS 7 are all having issues downloading apps... I made sure that my MDM is enabling installing apps... they can go to the app store, but when they download them it just says unable to download and gives the option of Retry or Done. Any advice for this issue?
Please help.. I have to make sure every kid has an iPad and can install the apps they need for school. I am just about out of options... APPLE... ANYONE??? Can I downgrade back to Configurator 1.3 somehow? HELP!

    Hi MrMeansMTA,
Yeah, there are a lot of issues that many of us in schools are experiencing. See this post for a collection of issues that we are hoping Apple will fix. You should add your issues to the list: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5379636?tstart=0
Regarding your attempt to downgrade to 6.1.3... unfortunately Apple has stopped signing all versions of iOS 6 for iPad. So even with a complete wipe of an iOS 7 iPad in an attempt to restore an old iOS 6 encrypted backup, a restore via iTunes will force the device to check in with Apple and the latest version of iOS 7 will install on the iPad. I've also tried importing an old ipsw file for 6.1.3 into iTunes and into Apple Configurator to try and force loading iOS 6.1.3, but niether iTunes or Apple Configurator will install it.
And with Apple Configurator even if you were able to downgrade to AC v1.3, it doesn't work with iOS 7...only v1.4 works with iOS 7. So unfortunately once an iPad is updated to iOS 7 we are all forced to upgrade AC to v1.4.
As far as the downloading apps issue, the times that I have seen this are when the app isn't compatible with the iOS version on the iPad. For example, an iPad on iOS 6.1.3 trying to download an app that only works with iOS 7 will get the "Unable to download - Retry or Done" message. I wonder if the opposite is happening in your case... where an app isn't iOS 7 compatible yet and they are trying to download a version for iOS 6 or earlier. On top of that, I would recommend the student try a "reset" (different from restarting) on their iPads (Hold down on both the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears. When you see the Apple logo on the black screen, let go of the buttons. This “reset” fixes a lot of iPad issues).
Another possibility for this error could be due to your web filter settings. Did you attempt to block iOS updates with your web filter? You or your network engineer may have inadvertently blocked app installs. Check with your filter guy to see what the settings are.
Hope this helps. We're all struggling through this and feel your pain!! Good luck man.

  • Apple iOS 7 app auto updates and supervised devices

I'm in the process of deploying a small number of iPads to our internal users, we had a question around automatic app updates in iOS 7. It would be nice if these devices were able to pull app updates down and install them automatically, but there are 2 problems with this for us. The first is that an itunes account was used to aquire a few free apps, these apps were then installed via configurator, but we will not be signing in to this account on the device. Default behavior unless a supervised iPad is plugged into itunes or signed in manually is to leave the apple id field blank, will updates install without an apple id on the device? Also, if a user signs in to there perosnal apple id will automatic updates download for an app downloaded with a different apple id? Second, were removing the app store from the device, but allowing apps to be installed. This should in theory allow updates to be installed automatically on the device, however we are unsure if this is the case. Does the app store need to be enabled for the device to check in? or does automatic updating happen regardless?

I can now confirm the apple technician was incorrect. Auto updates WILL NOT install on a device that does not have an apple id signed into it. I've done as much testing as I could with and without signing in and none of the multiple devices I have will automatically download updates until I sign in to the account the app was purchased under. Ultimately this is new for apple, and in addition to that this scenario is faced by very few customers managing these devices So i understand getting this information incorrect. This post is more or less a warning to anyone managing supervised ipads where applications are being installed and no apple id associated with the device, dont rely on automatic updates to keep your apps up to date; you will either have to sign into the ipad and turn on automatic updating, or manually install each update via configurator when they are released.

  • ITunes says iPad is supervised by another computer?

I have a school distributed iPad and they gave us the freedom to put music on it. However, when I plug in my iPad into my PC, an error message comes up and says, 'iPad is supervised by another computer and cannot be used with this computer,' and then won't let me do anything else with it, so I can't sync music to my iPad. The iPad doesn't show up under devices or anything. Help!
So far I've tried logging in on both my iPad and PC with my iTunes account, turned on home sharing on both devices, turned on iPad to automatically download music from other devices, and downloaded a free song on my iPad (I hoped it would trigger something).

Supervision Mode seems to embed itself into the operating system. In Apple Configurator, I had to unassign myself from the iPad. That restarts the iPad. This is something your IT Administrator has to do, but I doubt they will take it out of Supervisor mode as that means the devices can be stolen and used by anyone.
You are getting this error message?
Someone, your IT Administrator, used Apple Configurator to lock down your device and turned on "Supervision" in Apple Configurator:

    Hello There,
I got the below error while trying to invoke the LDAP query process, does any one have this problem or know how to fix, please advise.
    "ALC-DSC-000-000: com.adobe.idp.dsc.DSCRuntimeException: Internal error."
I did a search on Adobe site and got this link: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/491/cpsid_49153.html which provided the below solution:
"In this case the customer had quotation marks at the start and end of the XML stream.
    eg. String clean_xml = patExecContext.getProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/myxmlbranch");
They must have been stripped away automatically in LC7, but in ES, you must remove the unexpected characters and then it will process
    the XML without problems."
I checked my process and even export to xml file but do not see any where in the process that use anything that similar to the above.

  • Gps cameras that work automatically with places in iPhoto?

I'm looking to buy a new compact camera with gps. Does anybody know if there are any that work with the places feature automatically? i just want to be able to plug the camera in and have places work without needing 3rd party software/plugins to convert the information first.

There are several - I use Sony and have an Alpha A55 and a DSC HX5V - both work perfectly (note that any GPS takes time to acquire a signal so sometimes photos get the wrong location - your previous location - and have to be corrected in iPhoto)
and both of our iPhones add GPS of course (sometimes that is helpful in correct locations from teh camera - because of the WiFi and 3G in addition to GPS the phone is usually quicker to acquire the correct location)
In general any GPS enabled camera shoudl work just fine

  • DSC Wish List

I though I'd take a moment to start a wish list and collect some of my comments on LV DSC. I have become somewhat of a super-user of DSC recently, and have a lot of feedback for any NI people who are following these pages.
Overall, I am very pleased with DSC 6.1, but have a few ideas. I have already mentioned some of these ideas in the Discussion Forums, but here's a collection:
--Speed it up! The DSCEngine and other tools are pretty big and slow. They take a long time to load and run. It'd be great if the tools could start faster (particularly the DSCEngine and the Tag Configuration Editor).
--Double-click on an SCF file and it opens in the Tag Configuration Editor automatically.
--Option-click on an SCF file and allow the user to choose "Launch Engine With This SCF file".
--Don't force users to run compiled EXEs that contain DSC VIs in the DSC Run-Time folder. It'd be nice if we could run them in a different location.
--Get rid of that dialog that pops up when you shutdown the DSC and you have a client connected to the OPCLabVIEW OPC Server: "There are x OPC Clients attached to LabVIEW IA OPC Server. Do you still want to quit?". Or allow it to be disabled.
--Enable Tag Engine to run as an NT Service. If the power goes out, it will allow the Engine to start again when the PC restarts (without enabling automatic login to windows).
--This is a complicated one: Allow users to connect to DSTP or OPC items that are "arrays of doubles" and log them to citadel as an ordinary analog tag. For example, we have a DSTP URL that contains an array of doubles. These are a series of temperature values at time t0, t1, t2, t3. It is periodically updated with subsequent values t4, t5, t6, t7... and so on. On that URL, we also have an attribute (another array of doubles) that contains the timestamps for each value. It'd be cool if the DSC Engine could read this URL and log it straight to Citadel. Right now we have our own device driver that reads the values and adds them to the input queue... but it has some performance problems.
--Allow users to disable the splash screen that appears when starting the DSCEngine.
--Allow different alarms on string tags. For example, allow the user to setup an alarm that occurs when a string tag equals "error" or something like that. Right now we can only set Bad Status alarms on string tags.
--Allow the user to open the Tag Configuration Editor without totally opening the Run-Time System. It'd be nice if the editor were a fast, little app like the Tag Monitor that could be run without opening DSC.
--How about changing the name? Heh heh... LabVIEW DSC gets a bit confusing to say. Everyone here keeps calling it LabVIEW DCS. Also, I think the word "datalogging" confuses a lot of people. You see a lot of posts in the Dicussion Forums about "datalogging" in general... but have nothing to do with the DSC toolkit itself. Why not LabVIEW SCADA?

    Hi Helene,
I'm not sure what you mean by "roadmap". Are you looking for a general "architecture map" that explains the different software components and how they communicate with each other? The best way to get an overview would be to read the user's manuals and various NI web pages. I'd start here:
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=10418〈=US
You will find a whole bunch links on this page that provide info on LV DSC. For example, checkout the application notes on DSC:
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?pc=res&cid=10418〈=US&p_0=appnote
And the online demonstration videos at:
    http://digital.ni.com/demo.nsf/websearch/2484F51992BC939B86256ABD005245A6?OpenDocument&node=10418_US
And also see the Getting St
    arted manual:
    http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/F5984D148CAF106686256AF500569F91?OpenDocument&node=10418_US
Or are you asking about a "plan for the future" roadmap? A roadmap that would explain product developments and plans to address some of the items in my "Wish List" above? If so, that question could only be answered by NI ... and they would probably only give you very vague hints.
