Support case #0183962027

Hello,
You have been first contacted by DATALOGICS (adobe ID [email protected]).
As you need to contact us, I send this post because we would to find a solution for this problem.
To resume, we are contacting us about a problem with search functionnality, in the product acrobat reader or acrobat.
We are using Datalogics Library to create PDF documents. We found a problem in the case of using type3 Arial font (created with APDFL/DLI Library) : some words can't be found with search functionnality in Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.
It is by example words with an accent (acute, grave and a few others characters).
We tried with another software like "Foxit Reader" and it works.
So we are waiting an explication or a solution to this problem.
I am at your disposal for any questions. If you need, I could send us the pdf sample.
You can directly contacting me by mail.
Reagards, Sylvain
[email protected]

Hello,
I'm Andy Green from Datalogics, Inc., the [email protected] referenced above. M. Degeorges is a Support customer of ours for the Adobe PDF Library, and came to us regarding this Acrobat issue. While we are able to reproduce the problem as he describes it via any version of Acrobat, even as recent as v11 Beta, we are PDF Library Support rather than Acrobat, and do not have any access to the inner workings of Acrobat, so we initially referred his case to Adobe Acrobat Support, along with the sample document that he has also provided here now.
The initial problem is as described above: Acrobat seems unable to locate any accented word via its own text search utilities, even though the word appears to reside in the document as an unbroken string of expected ASCII values.
As an example, look at the word "étude" in the problem sample. If I search for "tude," Acrobat will find and highlight the entire word. If I search for "étude" instead (keyboarding the "é" via Alt+0233), it cannot locate it.
A check with Preflight shows no PDF syntax problems with the sample, and a Browse of Internal PDF structure (via the Options menu in Preflight) shows "étude" listed as one five-byte string, with the accented letter rendered as <E9>, the expected 233 value in hex.
It's not clear to us why "étude" should not be findable. Unfortunately, Acrobat Support's initial suggestion to "uninstall the software and try to install it in French and then try to search for the words" does not seem to explain why a default US installation can't find a common accented letter, and our followup questions (including whether they are able to see the same problem that we do) were met with a boilerplate text request for us to phone them. Unfortunately M. Degeorges is in France, which makes phone contact with Adobe difficult, and our attempts resulted in some telephone tag, interspersed with recorded announcements of a 36-45 minute wait time, so we suggested to M. Degeorges that he try here instead.
I hope that clarifies the issue. I'll follow this thread in case I can answer any other questions.
Regards,
Andy

The link you clicked is requesting an operation that requires authentication, but the authentication failed. There are five main reasons why this may happen:
    1) The link you clicked on was not generated for you, but was intended only for someone else's use to perform an action on their account. If the other person pasted such a link into a message body or you were re-directed to such a link from another link you clicked on, the authentication will fail and you will arrive here instead.

  • Opened support case, they keep closing, problem not solved and they won't respond

I opened a support case with adobe for thier digital editions program and they would answer once and close the case without seeing if the answer worked. I reopened the case again when the fix didn't work and gave them more info, including text of the error, and asked that they read everything that has been done and reply again. They replied again and only answered part of my problem (how to deauthorize my computer) not how to fix the original problem that is STILL not fixed, and closed the file AGAIN. So I again reopened the case and asked them not to close the case until they see if the solutions they offer work and to look over info and what I have done so far and to please help me fix my problem. Now I don't get any answer since friday. This support is laughable!! I guess we know why the program is free. If given the option I will never BUY anything from adobe.

I have the same problem. I keep my MacBook stationary. I don't really carry it anywhere, and if I do I use a padded case and protect it well.
It's a first gen MacBook. It came with the old case. The old case cracked and stained, and I had it replaced (50 dollars).
Now, it's out of warranty, and when they replaced it, it wasn't the new style case. (fixed weak case tightening issues, cracking, and staining) It was the old style case. Once again it's cracked on the edges, staining badly (I constantly clean it using the recommended instructions from the website. It's white for about a few days...), squeaks, popping up on the edges, and feels really weak.
I don't know how to contact Apple to explain my problem without going to the store (bit of an issue right now). My MacBook has felt weak and fragile from the day I bought it almost 2 years ago compared to others who own one. The case replacement at first appeared to help, but it hasn't changed anything now. I haven't done anything to it.

Did you contact Adobe last week for assistance in downloading the educational version of Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows after a hard drive crash? That is what this case was in reference to.

  • Does Oracle8 Enterprise Edition support case insensitive data

    Hi!
I want migrating our Microsoft SQL server 7.0 to Oracle8 ,
so, I installed Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.05 for NT.
With the installation I did, Oracle8 is case sensitive .
Since Microsoft SQL server supports case insensitive SQL data,
I would like to know whether Oracle8 supports case insensitive data.
If yes, how to make the configuration?
    Thank you!
    null

I don't think oracle supports case insensitivity. I really wish it did!
Please repost if you find a solution, I would be interested in learning about it.

Yesterday and again today I have attempted to post a support case.   On my Win 7 Pro 64 computer, I have used both the current versions of Chrome and IE but when posting the case get a "Unable to Complete Your Request" message.   Is anyone else getting this?  Any know work around?
    Thanks

    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove the Phone app from Recently Used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
    - Press the red  to delete the Phone app from this list.
    - Press the home button twice when done.
    - Restart the Phone app
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • Looking for 'My Support Cases' link

Well, posting in this forum resulted in a technician showing up on a Sunday afternoon ... phone service restored. Thanks. However, in one of my postings Verizon says to check 'My Support Cases' link to communicate with them and then locks the post so I cannot respond to ask for more details about the link. I have looked all over the site and cannot find this 'My Support Cases' link. Has anyone else found it?
    Thanks ...

I guess I must be dumb ... I only found the list of my postings and still find no "My Support Cases' link.   Another Verizon tech replied to one of my forum posting that I haven't checked or responded to some posting in that location ... then doesn't allow 'Reply' ib their posting.
I still need to update the work order.  A Tech showed up on Sunday night and spent an hour trying to trace lines on the road ad restored service so we thought we were set.  But then during the week we started having issues again with noise, disconnect of calls in the middle of speaking with someone, not being able to make a call and then no dial tone ater that.  I tried to open another repair report on this site today but can't get past that automatic check the line action.  This is so frustrating.

  • Any experience while buying Adobe Developer Support case(s)?

    Hi,
Adobe instead of answering Acrobat SDK related questions properly in this Developer's forum tries to push me/my company to become an Adobe Solution Partner and buy Adobe Developer Support case(s) to resolve all undocumented or better to say not fully documented as it should Acrobat SDK issues.
Now, I'd like to ask other developers here - do you really have any experience while buying those Developer Support cases? What is the cost of each separate one? Under Silver Solution Partner program you could get 7 cases, but need to pay about 1700 EUR, which is really huge cost.
And what is a separate Developer Support case? For example - solving a problem with Cyrillic text output and possible memory leak with JPEG generation (both issues reported by me and unresolved in this forum) will require 2 cases or could be solved via just a 1?
I'll really appreciate your answers on this topic. If someone from Adobe Sales could look at this - it would be great as well.
    Regards,
    Andrejus Chaliapinas

Do you follow all my recent postings in this forum? If so - then you should understand that I don't expect to pay Adobe anything ahead (even with some mysterious REFUND possibility) in regards to its SDK usage. Otherwise - I expect Adobe to promote its SDK to all possible developers worldwide and tell everybody, that its state of the art piece of software and if we find anything suspicious in functionality - it will be fixed right away.
Of course I could switch to some Open Source PDF generation libraries (I'm aware at least of 2 of them), but why should I if I'm partnering with big customer who has Acrobat Professional Volume Licensing in place and thus it's already proven fact that Acrobat Professional license is bought and Adobe got money for that already.
Let me compare with IBM once again - they have such nice Design Partner Program in place (where my company is actively participating for last 3 years) and it costs my company 0 cents to use latest versions of some products and report issues for everything as well as APIs. Well, there is proper NDA for that, but Adobe could have that as well and I see no reason why not.
So, if this forum is mostly for some enthusiasts rather that for serious developers - then I could understand all those Adobe restrictions. But otherwise - really not.

  • Still Trying To Get Answers....Support Case "resolved" without resolution

1 month later...still no answers from Verizon on when my bill will be fixed, or even how much it should be on a monthly basis...I thought I was making progress through the forum, but before my issue was resolved they changed the status to resolved now nobody will answer...again... Just when I thought giving Verizon another chance to make their screw up right was a good idea...must not have been.... Comcast...here...I...come...

    All,
Sorry for the troubles you are experiencing. So we can get more information from you, I have copied your post to our private support board. Please refer all correspondences to there from here on out. You can easily get to the private support one of two ways. • Where You can create a support case for weblogic server?

    Hi all,
I would like to know where I can create a support case for weblogic server?
I logged me in metalink3 but I did not found a way to create a service request for WLS.
    Thanks in Advance.

I believe you still need to use BEA's support resources at this point: http://www.oracle.com/bea/support.html

  • [Fwd: BEA Support Case: 256463]

    [email.eml]

Why only 9 execute threads? It doesn't surprise me that you have a deadlock. There
is likely several threads that that are looping back to this WL server (an EJB
or RMI call) and blocking on that call. The call cannot complete because this
WL has no free threads to execute the request.
Increase your executeThreadCount to 100 and see if the problem goes away.

    Hi support guys,
I was the one who posted the problem report, using Herianto's account.
Can you let me know a little about what the standalone applicationis
doing - how it evokes the EJB method, is it making database calls- =
is it connecting to an entity bean?
Is everything that participates in the cluster serialisable? Please=
    check. What particular method is
being evoked when the server is hanging?
    Please let me know.=20
The standalone application is a matching server, what it does is to
    =
invoke a session bean (ordermgr.OrderManagerBean in the below trace),
    =
which in turn invoke some helper class (via DBHelper) to issue JDBC
    =
call to the RDBMS to get some rows from the RDBMS table, no entity beans
    =
are involved. In a non cluster mode, we don't seem to have this =
problem, but in a cluster mode, the EJB server hangs after sometime,
    we =
can easily reproduce this, as within half an hour, this thing will =
    occur. =20
I observed that the call seems to spinlock when getting the naming
    =
context from WLS, something must be wrongly, otherwise why would the
    =
monitor simply wait forever ? The thread dump is attached below for
    =
your debugging. We captured this dump when one of the EJB server hang.
    =
There are quite a few EJB fixes in the new service service pack 10for =
    weblogic. Can you please install
that and see if yo can reproduce the error? Thanx.=20
I have asked my operations guys to do that, but they insist on =
finding out the cause of the problem. Will let you know once we tested
    =
with SP10 (why so many service packs ? that does not looks good on the
    =
    quality)
You have logged this as a production problem - is this system inproduction? How is this affecting your business?
Can you please let me know.=20
We observed this in a production environment when several web and
    EJB =
servers that are clustered. When the EJB servers hang, the clients call
    =
to complain and we are forced to shutdown the cluster mode and right
    now =
we are straining the system, leaving some machines idle. We need to
    =
resolve this asap, as the client base is getting larger, and the allowed
    =
down time is getting even smaller. =20
We had actually set up a similar environment in our test environment
    =
and we also observe the same problem, if you want to take a look, you
    =
    are welcome. =20
BTW, I also had some hard time trying to get WLS 6.1 beta running,
    =
there is an exception that complains on the JMS dispatcher. Is there
    =
any known issue with clustering in WLS 6.0 sp2 ? We are thinking of
    =
    migrating to WLS 6 soon.
    =20
Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide.
    Regards.
