Support for Categorisation of Tasks on Playbook with BB Bridge - please?

The BlackBerry and Windows Phone are "task-savvy" as shipped. The iPhone and most Droids are not - you have to get a 3rd party task manager app for them. So the BB should have a natural appeal to those who want built-in task manager with minimal fuss and RnD. Add to this that the BB task manager plays nicely with its counterparts in Outlook/Exchange and Notes. This provides a natural appeal for those who want a built-in task manager that syncs readily with their corporate stuff.
Many personal organising systems rely on the use of categories for tasks. GTD is one of them, and very popular it is too, both with consumer users and corporates of all sizes. BB provides nice support for task categorisation, and so BB is a nice workshorse for corporate types who want to do GTD or something else that needs task categorisation. I guess RIM wants these people to be wanting PlayBooks too, no?
Why, then, oh why, oh why, does the Playbook, when bridged to a BB, have nothing to do with the categorisation of tasks? You can't group or filter existing tasks by category and when entering a new task, you can't give that task a category. When looking at an existing task, you can't see which category(s) it belongs to.
Standing in front of the oppostion's goal, ball at feet, with their goalie standing by the corner flag and .... whoops .. . over the bar it went.
Please:
1. Expose the category field on the "new task" and "existing task" forms, with the BB's master category list as a pick list behind it.
2. Give us a little drop-down on the Task folder so that we can pick a category to filter on. (I'm thinking of one like the one top left in Bridge email where you can pick which folder's contents you want to view)
There was a time when BB handsets had task folders that didn't support categories at all. That was many years ago. The requirement for task categorisation has not gone away, and is not confined to the handsets.
And breathe....

Given the dearth of replies to your post, you may have come to to conclusion that you're alone in your thinking but you're not, well at least not completely.

  • Does OEM 12c supports for performing administration tasks on Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.5 environment ??

    Hello Everyone,
    I would like to start a discussion on the OEM 12c see if anyone has used for SOA Suite 10g. We are currently running on Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.5 we want to make use of OEM 12c for monitoring and perform administration activities. I have gone through some Oracle documents for OEM 12c,I found it's supported up to 10.1.3.4.However I am not so sure so I just wanted to clarify on this.
    Can we install the client in  Oracle Application Server/SOA OC4J  container to perform any administration task,purging,patching,monitor interfaces etc.
    I look forward to your valuable input and feedback on the discussion.
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
    The zip p6511843_101330_Generic.zip contains a README.txt which explains the steps to be followed to apply this patch.
    In the README.txt
    Refer to Section2 point No.1.
    Get the latest Opatch from metalink for bug 2617419.[this zip will contain a Opatch Directory].Extract this zip into your Oracle SOA home.[ex: C:/product/101.3.1/OracleAS_1]
    Also make sure that the Opatch directory in set in the path.
    Since we are running this Opatch on a Basic SOA installtion , you don't have to execute the changeNamesWindows.pl script[make sure that you have installed Basic version of SOA and not the Advanced].
    This patch will not work on Advanced Install.
    You can directly excute
    opatch apply.
    Follow the remaining steps mentioned in README.txt.

  • HT5593 How do i get sms support for two step verification in Canada with Telus ?

    i have followed the procedure for setting up two step authentication and the part where it's suppose to send me an sms code is where it fails. the code just never comes. anyone else having this issue ? fyi, im in Canada and using telus.
    i know when they first announced two step verification in Canada sms support was not there but now it's listed specifically for Canada and Telus on Apple support page. so what's the issue ?
    i know Apple has had tons of issues with sms codes outside the US but i figured by now they would get it right so i'm hoping there's just something i'm missing.

    i've even tried putting my sim card into a non-iphone, still no luck.
    Then how on earth is the iPhone the issue????
    Oh wait, it isn't.

  • 16-Bit App Support for SCCM 2012 Task Sequence / WinPE 4.0

    I'm not sure if what we're trying to do is even possible, but I am hoping it is.  I wrote a little script to check the BIOS asset tag info and if it isn't a valid numeric number it prompts in the task sequence to enter the correct asset tag number.
    We're trying to do this so we have it on a custom SCCM report for inventory tracking.  The problem is the Acer utility is 16-bit and it kicks back an error in WinPE saying that
    you don't have access to run 16-bit applications and to check your permissions with your system admin.  Where does WinPE store these permissions?  I know where they are in GPO's but not for SCCM's WinPE.

    objShell.Run "CMD /K CD C:\BIOS & C:\BIOS\DQDMI.EXE /Wasset " & strAssetTag
    Else
    Wscript.Quit

    I guess that it has nothing to do with permissions. WinPE is missing the 16bit subsystem in total as far as I know.

  • Support for using CS5 with Joomla

    So far, the information to get dreamweaver working with Joomla has been non-existent and/or extremely vague.  I've spent my entire Sunday, trying to simply get this to work.
    I ran a local server and followed the adobe tutorial, I uploaded my mysql database file and I either get an error saying that the dynamic-related files could not be reached etc etc etc. error, or I get simply a blank page when I try to view it in the localhost/FOLDER file.
    I am lost.  There is little support for this specific task.  It's my only interest in DW considering I work exclusively with Content Management Systems.  So far setting this up is time consuming, confusing, and well, it simply doesn't work.w
    IS THERE understandable documentation available for setting up the most TALKED ABOUT feature of DWCS5!?!?!?  Is it really even possible?  At this point I am starting even doubt the validity of the posts of people claiming they got this to work.  So far I get a string of unpredictable errors in an extremely complicated and confusing workflow, again, just trying to get the most talked about feature of CS5 to work as advertised.  I'm so frustrated, words cannot express.

    Hello out there? Can anybody be so kind an post a link to a good dokumentation? I am experiancing just the same problem and yes - I am frustrated, too. Pleeeese!!!

  • Separate project for each ADF task flow?!

    Hi,
    We have a BPM process application which is having a few human tasks. The form for each of the human tasks is similar. We’d like to be able to share some page fragments or code between them and create single web application to handle all the human tasks for this BPM process application. Then I found the following in the Oracle document “Developer’s Guide for Oracle SOA Suite 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0)”:
    “If the SOA composite contains multiple human tasks, create a separate project for each ADF task flow associated with each human task.”
    I wonder if we have to do that and if so, what is the reason.
    Do you have any clue? Please help.

    Hi Helen
    1. I do not know the reason why they mentioned like separate project for each human task. NO, this is not required and we can have just one UI Project like MyTaskForms and have all the JSPs in this same project for each Human Task.
    2. On our side, we have like 10 Human Tasks, all using the same Payload. So we have 10 .task file. For the very first .task file, we used Auto Generate Project and gave project name like OurAppTaskForms. The reason we did this is, so that it adds all the required dependent libraries, tag libs etc properly. For all remaining 9 .tasks file, we did NOT use auto generate. Instead we used standard New -> JSF From Human Task and select one task at a time and follow the steps. These steps are covered in the online documentation. At the end in our BPM App, we have just one UI Project with all the 10 screens.
    3. ALSO, all the 10 screens have some common data. This we put in a reusable JSF Fragment page. And associated a custom Managed Bean for this to set and get values from this fragment and also some Actions for some buttons in the JSF. Then we included this JSF in each taskform jsf file, uisng the include tag. We added this include tag, somewhere in the top. So all screens share common jsf fragment page.
    4. We can refine the above stuff further. As per above, we still have 10 JSF screens for each one of the 10 .tasks. Ofcourse all these 10 jsf have same common jsf fragment. BUT instead of 10 individual jsf screens, we can have only ONE Jsf screen also. Refer online docs for the details. The challenging part is, since we have only one jsf, there may be some bussiness stuff, validatoin stuff to take care of in custom ValidationCallback Handler classes. Say for Task1, we had to show some buttons, but NOT for Task2. So we had to handle this logic. Also in validation call back, we can always get each Tasks, title also. So we can workaround this issue also. We are in the process of doing this right now. But first 3, we already did and they are working fine.
    My personal suggestion is first go with single jsf fragment and include in all tasks jsp files. Any changes to common elements need to make only in one place i.e fragment page.
    Thanks

  • Need advise for best practice when using Toplink with external transaction

    Hello;
    Our project is trying to switch from Toplink control transaction to using External transaction so we can make database operation and JMS operation within a single transaction.
    Some of our team try out the Toplink support for external transaction and come up with the following initial recommendation.
    Since we are not familar with using external transaction, I would like member of this forum and experts, to help comment on whether these recommendation are indeed valid or in line with the best practice. And for folks that have done this in their project, what did you do ?
    Any help will be most appreciated.
    Data Access Objects must be enhanced to support reading from a TOPLink unit of work when using an external transaction controller. Developers must consider what impact a global transaction will have on the methods in their data access objects (DAOs).
    The following findSomeObject method is representative of a “finder” in the current implementation of our DAOs. It is not especially designed to execute in the context of a global transaction, nor read from a unit of work.
    public findSomeObject(ILoginUser aUser, Expression queryExpression)
    ClientSession clientSession = getClientSession(aUser);
    SomeObject obj = null;
    try
    ReadObjectQuery readObjectQuery = new ReadObjectQuery(SomeObject.class);
    readObjectQuery.setSelectionCriteria(queryExpression);
    obj = (SomeObject)clientSession.executeQuery(readObjectQuery);
    catch (DatabaseException dbe)
    // throw an appropriate exception
    finally
    clientSession.release();
    if (obj == null)
    // throw an appropriate exception
    return obj;
    However, after making the following changes (in blue) the findSomeObject method will now read from a unit of work while executing in the context of a global transaction.
    public findSomeObject(ILoginUser aUser, Expression queryExpression)
    Session session = getClientSession(aUser);
    SomeObject obj = null;
    try
    ReadObjectQuery readObjectQuery = new ReadObjectQuery(SomeObject.class);
    readObjectQuery.setSelectionCriteria(queryExpression);
    if (TransactionController.getInstance().useExternalTransactionControl())
         session = session.getActiveUnitOfWork();
         readObjectQuery.conformResultsInUnitOfWork(); }
    obj = (SomeObject)session.executeQuery(readObjectQuery);
    catch (DatabaseException dbe)
    // throw an appropriate exception
    finally
    if (TransactionController.getInstance().notUseExternalTransactionControl())
         session.release();
    if (obj == null)
    // throw an appropriate exception
    return obj;
    When getting the TOPLink client session and reading from the unit of work in the context of a global transaction, new objects need to be cached.
    public getUnitOfWork(ILoginUser aUser)
    throws DataAccessException
         ClientSession clientSession = getClientSession(aUser);
         UnitOfWork uow = null;
         if (TransactionController.getInstance().useExternalTransactionControl())
              uow = clientSession.getActiveUnitOfWork();
              uow.setShouldNewObjectsBeCached(true);     }
         else
              uow = clientSession.acquireUnitOfWork();
         return uow;
    }

    As it generally is with this sort of question there is no exact answer.
    The only required update when working with an External Transaction is that getActiveUnitOfWork() is called instead of acquireUnitOfWork() other than that the semantics of the calls and when you use a UnitOfWork is still dependant on the requirements of your application. For instance I noticed that originally the findSomeObject method did not perform a transactional read (no UnitOfWork). Has the requirements for this method changed? If they have not then there is still no need to perform a transactional read, and the method would not need to change.
    As for the requirement that new object be cached this is only required if you are not conforming the transactional queries and adds a slight performance boost for find by primary key queries. In order to use this however, objects must be assigned primary keys by the application before they are registered in the UnitOfWork.

  • CSS3 support for older browsers

    It's pretty clear now that CSS3 is a Rubicon for web browsers and that either the browser is capable of interpreting the rules or it is not. Having said that, is there a "patch" of some sort that can be painlessly added to the CSS to allow support for, say, IE8?

    I'm with Mark.  Build to the level of your main target audience -- not the fewer than 5% who insist on using outdated browsers.
    I have experimented with PIE and other so called "workaround" scripts for IE with less than stellar results.  Also , IE Filters have some nasty side effects -- like disabling clearType which makes text look really terrible.  I  view these "workarounds" as mainly counterproductive.
    Going forward, I'm adding an IE8 End Of Life message inside a conditional comment in all my projects now.  That way people know up front that their browser sucks.  The ball is then in their court whether or not to do anything about it.
    We still have an XP computer at home that hubby doesn't want to part with.  So  the only IE browsers he can use are 7 & 8.  That said, his favorite browsers are the latest versions of FF and Chrome which he uses regularly on XP.  Just because some people have an older operating system doesn't necessarily mean they have to use inferior browsers.
    Unless it's adversely effecting your content or usability, I don't think you should do cartwheels to support the few remaining IE7 and IE8 users.  It's better for everyone if we ween them off the bad browsers as soon we can.
    Nancy O.

  • Support for 6130

    I am in the process of renewing Oracle “Support for Systems”. I have three items that according to:
    Oracle Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Hardware and Operating Systems (February, 2012) [http://www.oracle.com/us/support/library/lifetime-support-hardware-os-337182.pdf]
    Sustaining support is “Not Available” and for each of these Premier Support ends before the end of this year.
    The items are:
    1. SE6130
    2. CSM100
    3. SF V20z
    When I asked my Oracle Support Services person to remove these items as Oracle will not support them for the duration of the renewal period, she responded that Oracle had recently dropped the “end date” and is offering support indefinitely. I, of course, requested supporting documentation – she did not have any handy and is “looking” for something that can be shared with the customer.
    Anyone have any details on hardware support beyond the dates in the above policy?
    How/where can I “get the facts” on this issue?
    If my employer renews this contract, will Oracle honor it even after Premier Support ends?
    Thanks,
    GlenG

    Sw,
    At this point I take it that hardware that is not listed is supported.
    Take a look at http://www.oracle.com/us/support/library/hardware-systems-support-policies-069182.pdf Near the bottom of page 5 it reads:
    "Right to End of Service Life
    It may become necessary (i) as a part of Oracle’s product lifecycle or (ii) if a vendor retires support for its product or the relationship with the vendor is terminated, to announce an End of Service Life date for a hardware system and, therefore, Oracle reserves that right. Oracle will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide twelve (12) months advance notice of End of Service Life. End of Service Life information is available on My Oracle Support. End of Service Life information is subject to change."
    I "think" the link I posted is the "End of Service Life information is available on My Oracle Support". It's kind of a trick to find it from the MOS but it can be done.
    Near the top of that same page (5) it reads:
    "When offered, Oracle Premier Support for Systems will be available for a minimum of five years from the last ship date of the hardware system."
    I think the second document you list is useful for determining the "minimum of five years from the last ship date".
    As I understand it Oracle is expected to stop selling the 6000 series storage arrays sometime soon. I would guess that most/all of them will get just the "5 years" of support but it looks like servers may get some years beyond the 5 years.
    I'm not a lawyer, just a customer ...
    have a good day,
    GlenG
