Support for Crystal Report XI runtime on Windows Server 2008 R2

Hi all,
I was wondering if Crystal report XI runtime is supported on Windws Server 2008 R2.

By 'Crystal report XI runtime' if you mean CR 11.0, then it is not supported with Windws Server 2008 R2.

The link you have referred is for Crystal Reprots for VS 2010 / 2012 / 2013 which is the lates version of CR which provides the SDK.

I would advise to check if windows server 2008(64 bit) is listed as a supported platform.

Running Crystal Report 10.2 on windows server 2008

Hello, Everyone,
I am migrating my ASP.NET application from windows sever 2000 to windows server 2008.
I have Crystal reports that was converted from version 9.1 to version 10.2, and application is using ASP.NET 2005.
I have installed on the server .net framework 3.5 and 4.0. Also Installed CRRedist2005_x86.msi u2013 Crystal Report redistributable package for .net Framework 2.0. To my understanding i dont need to install .net framework 2.0 since i have 3.5 installed.
Web app is running fine, but when i am running Cryastal Report I see the page that displays report, it is up for a second or two and when report is starting to generate page is closed. No errors.
Does anyone experiencing the same problem running CR 10.2 on windows server 2008? Am i missing something?
Can somebody help me?

How can I deploy the CR runtime and run my reports made in CR XI R2 SP4 on Windows 2008 Server, given that the server is a 64 bit OS

Crystal Reports 10 Compatibility with Windows Server 2008 R2

Hello I'm a developer and I'm in the process of migrating my ASP.NET application that uses crystal reports 10 from a win2k3 server to a win2k8 R2 server.
First of all, is CR 10 compatible with windows server 2008 R2?
The application is up and running on the new server, the only thing that fails is the reports. I get the following error message:
Error in file ....c:\windows\temp\{TEMP_FILE_NAME}.rtp
Failed to create the Crystal Query Engine.
This occurs at report.load(..)
I did already grant NETWORK SERVICE access to Temp and ran the CR redistribute msi that came with Visual Studio 2008 - CRRedist2008_x64.msi.

YESSSS!!!! IT WORKS!!
Finally, after days of installing, uninstalling, setting permissions, crawling through process monitor output.. I finally have it working.
For anyone with the same problem, here's what worked for me:
I had to use the 32-bit runtime
set application pool to 32-bit
grant the following permissions based on the different errors listed below:
Error in File UNKNOWN.RPT
- Give NETWORK SERVICE list permission on C: Drive, run a report, then remove NETWORK SERVICE from the list (weird, but works, and I had to do this every single time I setup Crystal Reports on a new computer so far).
- You might also have to set correct permission on 'Temp' if u get still get this error.
Error in file ....c:\windows\temp.rtp
Failed to create the Crystal Query Engine
- Grant correct permission to C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects (your path may vary)
(For me it was giving Users Modify permission to Business Objects folder)
Unknown Query Engine ErrorError in File C:\Windows\TEMP\.rpt:
Unknown Query Engine Error
- Switch application pool to 32-bit.
- Make sure Crystal Reports Runtime is 32-bit (CRRedist2008_x86.msi)

Crystal Reports XI R2 and Window Server 2008 Hyper-V environment

Is there any known issue that Crystal Reports XI R2 running on Window Server 2008 Hyper-V enviroment?
I tested on Development Server which is Window Server 2008 and it is working fine but when tested with another servers which are in Hyper-V enviroment and ASP.NET program keep crushing.
I got the below error on my event log:
Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 7.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e023cf, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x03976ce8, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10.

Hi Yin,
Hyper-V I assume is the Hyper threading Intel and others enabled correct? Should not make a difference other than performance. You are still using 1 CPU so the cycles are being split between multiple programs. Not really an advantage.
Try using ProcessMonitor and search on access denied to see what is having the problem.
Other issue is CR XI R2 is not supported on windows 2008, or at least you should be running Service Pack 6 to at least get Windows 7 and Vista support, which is about the same as Windows 2008.
Go to our download page and install SP 4 full build and then SP 6. ( assuming you don't have any SP's installed ) or look in the download area and download all of the patches from SP 4 as well as the distribution files for how ever you are deploying your application.

Currently I am using Jdeveloper Patch#9172975 for R12.1.2 on windows server 2008 X64 and it works fine.
As Jdeveloper Patch#9172975 is lower version then Jdeveloper Patch#9879989, Patch#9879989 should work on Windows Server 2008 64bit.
Still I am not confirm about Jdeveloper Patch#9879989 on Windows Server 2008 64bit.

Where is the Tech Support for Crystal Reports

Where is the technical support for Crystal Reports? I have just been through one of the worst technical supports circles in my entire career - this phone# to that phone# and only to be told you cannot talk to a Tech Support person. My dilema for anyone that can help - I am using Crystal Report 2008. I have mapped to a database in MS Access 2002. I copied the database to my desktop and created a test report. I can see the fields in the Field Explorer. I have dragged the fields onto the report and they are visible in Design View. I can see the data in the fields when I browse the fields. In the Preview View I do not see any data what-so-ever. I have not changed any defaults and have not suppressed or hidden information. The $1M question: Why can't I see the data on my report? I never had the problem when I used Crystal Reports v8.

The datasource shows my database. I believe that is what you meant. No data. IT has asked me to ask ? if in the Control Panel DSN if we need some information there. I don't have a clue - I am just a report writer and not an IT person.

May I know what is the best practice for install oracle 11g r2 on windows server 2008 r2. Should I create a special account for windows for the oracle database installation? What permission should I grant to the folders where Oracle installed and the database related files located (datafiles, controlfiles, etc.)
Just grant Full for Administrators and System and remove permissions for all others accounts?
Also how should I configure windows firewall to allow client connect to the database.

DB2 support for Crystal Reports for Enterprise And Unx errors

Hi,
I have a requirement to create a report in CrystalReports for Enterprise 4 sourcing data from Oracle 11 and IBM DB2 V9 databases. My first approach is to create relational connections for both the databases in the BO Repository (using Universe designer) and use them directley in the CR for Enterprise. Here I was able to create the two connections but unable to use the DB2 connnection in the report. I get the below error:
"The Database DB2V9 is not supported".
Is DB2 is a supported database for Crystal reports for Enterprise ??
My second approach is to create a multisource universe using IDT. Here when I try to create the Datafoundation layer, I get to see the tables from the DB2 databasae but When I expand the Oracle connection, I get this error: "conversion from UTF8 to charset failed: encoding not loaded".
Im unable to create a multisource universe at all no matter what connections I use.
Here is some additional info:
SAP BI4.1 SP1
Windows 2008 R2 servers
Oracle 11g
IBM DB2 V9.7
Any suggestions please!

Hi,
First of all I would strongly advice you to only use IDT for your universe development. The old Universe Designer is a legacy tool and should not be used unless you are using products that doesn't support IDT universes.
The issue you are facing for your Oracle connection is likely caused by a missing path variable.
Add "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64" to the PATH environment variables on the SAP Business Objects Enterprise server.
Restart the SIA
NOTE: Modify the path in case the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise is installed in different folder.

I am Using Crystal report Report 9 with VB 6 and SQL Server 2008. All my Client PC s (Windows XP SP3) are able to export the reports in any format but with my SERVER - (Windows Server 2008 (32 Bit)) it isn't possible. The Button is very much enabled

I would like to suggest you try to run SAP Crystal Reports under Compatibility Mode to check if it works.
Run in compatibility mode with administrative privilege
================================
1. Right-click the .exe file of the SAP Crystal Reports program and choose
Properties.
2. Switch to the
Compatibility tab.
3. Please check the
Run this program in compatibility mode for and choose
Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
4. Check the
Run this program as an administrator box under the
Privilege Level.
5. Click
Apply, click OK.
Note: If the option is unavailable when running this program as an administrator, it means that either the application is blocked from always
running elevated, the application does not require administrative credentials to run, or you are not logged into the computer as an administrator.
If it does not work, it is high recommended to contact your local SAP Support Engineers for further assistance. They are more familiar with their own

Error starting forms and reports manageed servers on windows server 2008

Everithing was ok during install and configuration steps, put forms and reports, run application, 2 days later, servers stoped and it has been impossible to start them:

Installation Support of SAP Kernel Products on Vista / Windows Server 2008

one of the major design goals of Vista and Microsoft Server 2008 is to harden the operating system against unauthorized attacks from viruses, trojan horses etc.
The most important change in Vista/Windows Server 2008 (formerly longhorn) is: a process running under a user account which belongs to the local administrators group does not run with administrative priviledges as long the process is not elevated to the administrative level.
Elevation can be done by starting the process per Explorer using Run As Administrator or using special APIs, which are new in Vista. Programs started with Run as Administrator will not be able to start subprocesses elevated without additional changes (compared to Windows XP / Server 2003).
Security settings of many Windows system objects like Directories and Registry Hives etc are much more restrictive in Vista compared to Windows Server 2003 / XP. In some functions SAPinst tries to access registry keys and values for enumeration with full access which is no longer possible in Vista.
In other words: without code changes in SAPInst for Vista / Windows Server 2003 there will be no possibility to install a SAP System on these platforms.
If you do not have a SAP note stating the opposit or if you do not have a PAM (Product Availability Matrix) entry promising support for Vista / Windows Server 2008 the probability is about 99.9 percent (or even higher) that the installation will not run.

yes, that's true.
I know of efforts porting MaxDB to Vista (there are some PTS'ses open) but generally one can say, that products below 7.00 are unlikely to work short term.

    But the document of SAP installation says:
If you start sapinst the first time, you will be logged off your operating system and afterwards prompted for the installation directory of JRE 1.4.latest or 1.5.0_22 (tested).
Do not use 1.6.x! The installation will start, but not finish.
JRE 1.4.latest or 1.5.0_22 (tested): it means I should install j2re-1_4_2_19-windows-i586-p, is it right?
