Support for DNxHD MXF files

Hi,
I recently tried to import a DNxHD MXF (220). PPro CS5.5.2 wasn't able to import this MXF. Is there any way to import this MXF file or to update PPro?
Thanks

Yes. I can easily import any Quicktime based DNxHD file. But not MXF based files. The new Blackmagic Hyperdeck Studio is able to record them. You get 1 video mxf and 2 audio mxf files. PPro currently isn't able to open them. It would be great if this is supported in the near future. If anyone from Adobe wants to have some of these mxf files, please let me know. I will provide some files.

Is there support for animated gif files using
form builder? I can't get it to work.
    Thanks

    I am using forms 6.0

She used the Link Tool, specfied 'Image URL' as the Source File Format and the url of the animated GIF in the Source Filename. Hope that helps.
Makes sense but the form is not for the web.
I have looked at doing it with timers and switching canvases, but that is just too much
for sloppy animation. It's just not tight enough.

  • Just bought a Nikon d750 and confused about adobe LR4 and PS6 support for the RAW files. I have DNG 8.7 but wondering if LR and PS will import direct soon Thanks for any advice

Just bought a Nikon d750 and confused about adobe LR4 and PS6 support for the RAW files. I have DNG 8.7 but wondering if LR and PS will import direct soon Thanks for any advice

Support for the Nikon D750 was introduced in the latest version of LR 5.7 and ACR 8.7 on Novemder 18th 2014.
Further updates to LR 4 were stopped when LR 5 was released on June 9th 2013. No further updates for bug fixes and new camera support.
Nada, LR 4 will never support Nikon D750. The Nikon D750 was introduced into the market in September 2014 some 15 months after further development of LR 4 was discontinued.
You can use the Adobe DNG program (free download for the package) to convert the Nef (raw) files from your Nikon D750 to the Adobe DNG format which will permit you to import those into LR 4. This is the crutch provided by Adobe to allow for the processing of raw files with outdated versions of LR and ACR.
You can also update the ACR plugin for PS CS6 to version 8.7 which can also work with the raw files from the D750. For direct support in Lightroom you will need to upgrade (paid) to version 5.7.

  • Need a procedure for bringing MXF files into Premiere Pro from a Focus Enhancements FS-5

    That's it.
I can drag and drop the files into the resources pane, but when I drag them onto the timeline the "distribute" themselves - the video file goes on the video track, then the left side audio file appears on the first mono audio track 1 with its start point aligned with the outpoint of the video, and the right audio channel appears on the second mono audio channel with ITS start point aligned with the outpoint of the audio channel on a-track 1.
All of this is can be fixed. I can align the tracks and link them and then they are fine, but it seems to me that there must be a less cumbersome and risky procedure.
When we import from the FS-5 into our Avid system, it creates a single "pilot" file name with all the video, lft, and rht files "attached" to it. You click on it and the whole file set does what you tell it to do.
I've asked Focus Enhancements Support for help, but yet again they cannot be bothered to answer. FE makes good products, but their support is well... manure.
    Thanks, JP

    Wil -
I suspect this discussion is ended, BUT I thought you might want to know what I've discovered in case this question comes up again.
You were correct that the MXF file sets have to be imported as individual channels... sort of, I'll explain below.
There is no way to set the FS-5 to OP1A
    Explanation:
I found that I could import a file set (left audio, video, right audio) at the same time.
Then right click and MERGE those files into one file and toss the originals.
I attempted to import all the MXF files at the same time and I could. Unfortunately when I did the names of all the audio files were change to unique, but, as far as I could tell, random numbers and letters, so I couldn't figure out which audio files went with which video file. That meant I had to import and merge each set of three files individually. Given that MXF breaks long shoots into a series of files sets each about 8 minutes long, one ends up with a LOT of files to wrangle.
All and all, this process is not very efficient. Given all the eye-strain required to find each file set (the do not sort together) and the hand-work required to import and merge each 8 minute section, doing anything long would be quite a pain. For us loading video tape is faster and easier.
Thanks for your insight. I appreciate the effort. You can mark this question "answered."

  • No support for avi video files in symbian belle

well, the os is super impressive and the video player too.. But there is a problem while playing avi files. There is no preinstalled support for this type of file. While mp4 works fine without any problems. (i'm talking about nokia 600,603,700,701,n8,,etc)

Yeah, there are some issues for some codecs. But you should be fine for aac/xvid files. I can run them without any problem. Also i can run .mkv files.

  • Random support for .BWF Poly files in CC

Audition's support for .BWF files seems patchy and random. I use the industry standard Sound Devices recorders and the good news is that Audition will open all the files and 'see' all the individual tracks within - unfortunately it will only play back only 30-40% of them. Is anyone else seeing this problem?
There seems to be no logic to this. The norm is that anything over 1Gb will open, but not play. However I have several files that are only 2-300MB that will not play. All files are recorded as 24bit / 48Hz and all are 'Poly files' i.e. they contain multi tracks as output by the SD recorder. All these files play perfectly in Reaper / Apple Logic Pro X but the latter is poor and does not show the individual tracks, Audition displays these, just refuses to play them!

    Hi Nick,
Any chance you can share one of the affected files with us?  Send me an e-mail to [email protected] and I'll send a shared Creative Cloud folder to make this easy.  I'll make sure I can reproduce the problem on our side, and troubleshoot further.

  • Support for Office 2007 files (especially docx) ?

    Hi,
can you please give me a hint if it's possible to use ora-text with the current office 2007 file formats ?
I need to have support for word 2007 (docx) format very soon
    Is it already available ?
If not, is there a plan to support those formats ?
    Thank you

    Hi,
the workaround descrived above would also work for your plsql app. Therefore you can use the PL/SQL XSLT Processor in order to extract the content needed from the office 2007 documents. See DBMS_XSLPROCESSOR.
What is your business case? How do you store and index your documents?
p.s Here is an example of an xslt to extract the text content from an docx document. The internal structure of docx document is based on the Open Packaging Conventions (see http://openxmldeveloper.org/articles/OPC_parts.aspx )

  • Support for Canon raw files in panther and iPhoto

I can't get iPhoto 6 to import the raw files (.cr2) from my Canon 400D.
I can use image capture and also Elements 4 with Raw support, so I am not sure if its the operating system level (panther) or something else.
I did use iPhoto with my previous Canon with .CRW files and that worked fine to import them, organise them and then edit etc externally in Photoshop.
Is there any way out there to do this without upgrading the OS or iPhoto, I appreciate I have a way to continue working but miss the convenience of the easy import.

Suggest you buy (about $10 - $20) a USB memory card reader. Just plug your camera's memory card into it & copy the pic files to your Mac. Quicker & easier than interfacing the camera for pic transfer.

  • Support for itunes plus file transfer / playback

The lastest Nokia Media Transfer application for the mac allows the transfer of itunes plus (.m4a extension) files, these are purchased itunes tracks without DRM. From what I understand apple have modified the tag data on these files which prevents them from being played on a Nokia phone, the Mac transfer application will process these files to modify this data and allow the tracks to be played.
My question is, will windows users get a similar application, to avoid the use of third party / manual operations, to allow these files to be transferred directly from itunes to my Nokia in the same manner as the mac application?
Its usually the mac being the un-supported OS but appears to be windows in this case !

yeah, Apple have their own way of working with aac/mp4 tags. They add extra bits that other players, unless programmed to read, won't understand, and at worst they won't play the file at all. There is another standard, the Nero standard, and they are similar but the Nero version is more universally recognised. There isn't an ID3v1/ID3v2 for MP4 files, yet. Although, like I said, since 90% of the world uses the Apple method of tagging, that is close enough to being a standard.
It's not that Nokia don't want you using iTunes, or like you said, they would force Mac users to use a Nokia music program. I think it is just that the whole "PC Suite" philosophy is geared around the Windows Media Player way of doing and tagging things. And since WMP doesn't recognise m4a files, neither does the Nokias. To get around this, instead of fixing their mp4 codecs to recognise Apple formatting, they made a transfer program that swaps the tags to a Nokia-understandable format. Which is just silly.
I've tried the Suite Music Manager, I have. Honest opinion - use Windows Media player instead. BUT I don't want to use that either, I have a huge collection ripped/catalogued in iTunes, and I shouldn't have to go about fiddling with tags and swapping software/workflows just so my phone can play it. I don't need to with MP3 so why should I need to with AAC/MP4? It would only take a few lines of code in the phone's AAC codec for it to read these tags, surely thats easier than making transfer programs and Music Managers?
The arguement "Nokia want you buying from the Nokia store rather than iTMS" doesn't hold water either, because I'm never buying from either, as long as I can still buy CDs from the shop.
Like I said, this whole thing may be fixed with the new N95-8 etc. If its not, and Nokia have no intention of fixing it, then my next phone will be an iPhone. I don't WANT an iPhone, but this whole thing is a deal-breaker for me.

  • 16:9 for XDCAM MXF files

I am trying to import XDCAM files via XDCAM Transfer to FCP. FCP does not recognize the files in 16:9 which is the format they have. Does anyone know a solution for this problem?

    Hello,
I'll be a little more concrete, hoping that someone has an answer: I received a disc with movie files in .mxf format. Since FCP doesn't natively recognize them, I am trying to import them through XDCAM Transfer.
Here is what information XDCAM Transfer gives about the clips:
    Video Format: IMX 50
    Bit Rate: 50 Mbps (CBR)
    Frame Rate: 50i
    Aspect Ratio: 16:9
    Frame Size: 720 x 576
    Codec Apple MPEG IMX 625/50 (50 Mb/s)
When I view the clips in XDCAM Transfer, they are 16:9 and look right, but after importing, FCP shows them with aspect ratio 4:3. I have tried all kinds of sequence settings to correct this, but they don't really work. When I drop a clip onto the timeline, for example, FCP tells me the clips settings aren't the same as the sequence's and whether I would like to correct this for better results. Clicking yes, it all goes back to 4:3. Clicking no, I can use a strange sort of 16:9 (a part on the top and bottom of the picture is grey-coloured and seems to be shut off), but exporting the sequences as Quicktime movies in the end, these are again 4:3.
Does anybody know what's going on here and why I can't seem to use these MXF/IMX files with their original 16:9 aspect ratio in FCP? Am I doing something wrong or is this a well-known problem (and maybe there is a good workaround)?
One thing that throws me off is that in an official FCP brochure talking about different input formats, Apple states that both NTSC and PAL IMX have 4:3 aspect ratio. How can this be true if the files I am trying to work in are 16:9? I am kind of desperate because under time pressure, so all help is much appreciated.
    Best,
    Jenny

  • Support for RAW photo files under iOS8

I have an iPad Mini 2 which I've been using as a temporary back up of the JPEG and NEF raw files from my Nikon DSLR while I'm traveling.  When I got home, I would always transfer the backup photos from the iPad to my Mac Pro.  This worked flawlessly when I had iOS 7 installed on the iPad.  However,  it has stopped working now that I've (accidentally) upgraded my iPad to iOS 8.1.   I can still download my JPEG backup files from the iPad to the Mac, but the download of the raw files fails every time with a system error message.  It fails whether I try to download the photos in iPhoto, Lightroom, or even Image Capture...the error message is always the same.  From the size of the raw image file on the iPad (42 MB), I know it's not just a null/empty file of 0 MB in size.  Has anyone else experienced this problem since upgrading to iOS 8 on their iPads?  Can anyone sugge a fix for my problem?  On the Mac Pro I'm running OS 10.9.5, Mavericks, not Yosemite.

Here's more information on this issue.
As an experiment, instead of loading my photo files onto my iPad Mini via Apple's camera kit (the memory card reader), I emailed myself two test files, one JPEG and one NEF.  I opened the email msg on my iPad and saved both files to the iPad.   Both files showed up in the Photos app.  I then brought up Image Capture on my Mac and used it to transfer the files over from the iPad.  This worked perfectly and both the JPEG and the raw NEF copied over correctly to the Mac.  What this suggests is that the problem is probably isolated and occurs only when the raw files are copied from the memory card using the Apple dongle.
I've been in touch with Apple Support and had two on-line chats with them so far.  The issue has now been kicked over to the "engineers" (not sure exactly what that means).  They are now aware of the problem but I received no other information.   It might help if you also contacted Apple Support to let them know more than one person is experiencing the same problem.

  • Support for CR2 raw files in Photoshop CS

    Newby here!
I've used Photoshop CS (the original CS version) for some years processing CRW canon 10D raw files. Now I've upgraded to a later Canon 40D, which produces CR2 files which CS can't read.
Is it possible for me to download an update / plugin?    Or do I need to upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop?
At present, I'm opening the CR2 file using Canon's ZoomBrowser software, then I'm able to edit it with Photoshop CS.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Roger

Hi and thanks very much for your responses.
I've tried the DNG route, firstly the most recent version which, although it converted my .CR2 files, could not be read by Photoshop CS.
Realising my mistake, I removed this DNG converter and installed the older version 2.4 designed to work with CS.
But still no joy. The .PNG files created still can't be read by photoshop CS and, although I was careful to update the Camera Raw .8bi file in the Plug-ins folder, CS still won't open a .cr2 file OR .dng file.  Despite the fact that both file types are apparently 'available' in the File/Open dialog box!
So it looks like it's back to using Canon Zoombrowser to open each file before editing in Photoshop...or buy a new version.
Anyway, thanks for your responses. Much appreciated.  Roger
