Support for nvidia card ?

Bootcamp does not load drivers for my Nvidia GeForce GT650M card into Windows7 64bit.  What to do?

Down and install these. They are straight from NVIDIA.

  • PRE9 No longer supports older nvidia card GPU's (?)

I've started this new discussion rather than continuing GPU Effects in PRE7 but not in PRE9 as this focuses more on the cards rather than the effects. In this discussion I hope that users with nvidia cards could report what their card is, and whether or not GPU Effects/Transitions show.
My nvidia 8800GT performs exceptionally well with PRE7.
Scrubbing along the timeline, or changing timeline scaling results in almost instantaneous redrawing of thumbnails.
All GPU effects and transitions are available and work well.
    But with PRE9:
Scrubbing along the timeline, or changing timeline scaling, results in an agonisingly slow redrawing of thumbnails.
GPU effects and transitions are not available.
It seems to me that PRE9 is either no longer supporting older cards, or is identifying cards incorrectly. My gut feel is the first - that PRE9 is only working with *specific* video cards.
    I think this because:
    Adobe PRE9 Help shows:
    About GPU effects
If your computer has an AGP‑ or a PCI‑based
video card, it probably has a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit). If
your GPU supports DirectX 9.x, Pixel Shader (PS) 1.3 or later, and
Vertex Shader (VS) 1.1 or later, you can use GPU‑accelerated effects. These
effects take advantage of the added video processing capabilities
of GPU cards, adding three‑dimensional realism to images.
You can find these effects in the GPU Effects menu in the Effects
view only if your computer has a supported GPU. (Some effect options
are available only if your graphics card supports Pixel Shader 2.0
or later and Vertex Shader 2.0 or later.) For details, see the system
requirements on the Adobe Premiere Elements product page
    on the Adobe website.
I could not find graphics cards listed in Adobe Premiere Elements 9: System requirements. But I did find this on the Premiere Pro CS5 System Requirements:
Supported NVIDIA graphics cards for GPU acceleration
GeForce GTX 285 (Windows and Mac OS)
    GeForce GTX 470 (Windows)
    Quadro 4000 (Windows)
    Quadro 5000 (Windows)
    Quadro FX 3800 (Windows)
Quadro FX 4800 (Windows and Mac OS)
    Quadro FX 5800 (Windows)
    Quadro CX
It does make me wonder if PRE9 follows this restricted list of cards.
Another clue(?) is that the Adobe Knowledge Base 51526, Troubleshoot digital video playback, shows:
    3. Switch the GPU playback option.
Note: This option is not present in Adobe Premiere Elements 9.0.
Adobe Premiere Elements  is designed to take advantage of display
cards with accelerated GPUs. If you are having playback issues, make
sure you use the correct GPU playback mode that corresponds with your
    display card.
Enable GPU Playback: The setting if you have a GPU-accelerated display card.
Disable GPU Playback:The setting offers the lowest performance but
is appropriate for display cards that do not fully support Direct 3D
So the feature to manually describe your card to PRE9 *HAS* been deliberately removed, by inference leaving it totally to the application to decide whether or not your card is supported.
I'll be posting this information at the Adobe Bug/Feature report.
    Cheers,
    Neale
Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your children

No, and it doesn't support some new cards in particular configurations either.
The main ones affected are the laptop hybrids in Sony Vaio.  I have a Sony Vaio Z11, and the Z12 and Z13 are affected by exactly the same problem.
The nVidia video card is GT330M, which should support all sorts of things.  But the most recent driver that works in this hybrid configuration (the way it is set up by Sony) is 190.xx, which presumably doesn't support this.
So PRE9 loads with an error message, but I can't see anything in the video preview, which makes editing a little difficult.  It works fine in Sony Vegas though.
Sony Vaio with the auto-switching hybrid configurations are fairly common (they've sold well), and the Z11, Z12 and Z13 are a current and very powerful model (mine is Core-i7, 8GB RAM, SSD).  It is a laptop that looks good, so appeals to graphic artists and video editors.
Adobe possibly needs to fix this rather quickly, because there are complaints all over the forums and I can see a lot of people dropping Adobe Premiere Elements in favour of the Sony Vegas product simply because they can't make it work.  All it takes is the ability to switch OFF GPU processing!  Alternatively support for this card.

  • Ext4 format support for microSD cards on Galaxy S5?

Can we get ext4 format support for microSD cards on Galaxy S5? New permissions that come on KitKat break some of my apps that need local storage. The enhanced permissions available with EXT4 should fix this as that is the internal Flash format. "Use the cloud" is a non-starter so don't even suggest it.

Not directly, but as a large customer they have a big say in what gets loaded in the ROM as evidenced by the many (unwanted) preloaded apps. Adding EXT4 file system support to restore Verizon's end customer user experience is something they can insist on. It is a simple requirement to add when the end manufacturer builds a custom ROM for Verizon. The underlying system already supports it and alternative ROMs (CM) have been created with that feature. I'm just not ready to install alternative ROM code on a phone that was just released, and only a week in my possession.

  • Colors Lack of Support for Nvidia!

I switched to Mac for the sole purpose of using "Final Touch"..shortly after it was purchased and is now Color. I bought the new studio package and loaded it all on my Workstation. Low and behold...no support for Firewire out!!...so I will have to buy an AJA earlier then planned...and I can only get 8 bit color renderning depth in settings regardless of footage quality, bit depth, resolution, or codec. My system is a Dual Quad Core 3GHZ so 8 CPUS "Octo Mac" with 9GB of RAM and 2 TB RAID storage with a Nvidia Quadro 4500! It's rather frustrating that the highest end system apple can make is crippled in Color and I have to get a lesser system (ATI card) to make it run optimally. Any answers? I purchased the Quadro because I work in Maya...but now I think I will have to save the $1400 difference and get the ATI card so I can work in a higher bit depth , and afford to purchase a High end AJA card for output. Any ideas or answers?

    Hello,
i posted another thread about the limitation of 8bit color depth and no realtime playback and found out that it was the same problem. We had a nvidia card installed. I just installed the app on a 8core intel with ati x1900 and it works impressivley well. Perfect playback and performance. We are putting primary, 3 secondaries with super soft gradients and a pan and scan plus output correction and the systems delivers still 22fps in 2k dpx sequences. Quite amazing. But yes, nvidia gave us 8fps with an uncorrected image.
Get the x1900 it will make you happy.

  • How to: Enable CUDA GPU Support for "Unsupported Cards" in CS6 (same process as in CS5+)  :) for MAC

Hi all, I previously was involved in some discussion regarding GPU acceleration with CUDA in Premier Pro CS5 using an 'Unsupported card' with my Macbook Pro... I would like to show you this still works and will be here to show the process for anyone, and will post a video of the whole thing as a step-by-step probably tomorrow (its quite late where i am just now) but I'll give you a quick run through just now... Proof at bottom of page...
Ps. This only applies to Nvidia card Macs.. I have no ATI card mac to try this out as OpenCL etc but i would imagine it would be a similar process...
Step 1... Install Cuda drivers for your Mac (im using 4.2.7) here   http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html
Step 2... Install GfxCardStatus and force your graphics (if using a laptop) to discrete card only   http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus
Step 3... Open Terminal... and run GpuSniffer... path as follows for original default installation directory, copy and paste then hit enter or change as required
                  /Applications/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CS6/Adobe\ Premiere\ Pro\ CS6.app/Contents/GPUSniffer.app/Contents/MacOS/GPUSniffer
This should give you an output as follows, while it may differ this is my output...

You will then be asked for your computer password, type it and hit enter, it will not be shown as you type FYI... You will then see the default supported cards, add your card by pasting the name you have as in Step 4, then use ctrl+x to escape, type Y to save and hit enter a couple of times to get out...
You should now be able to run Premier Pro CS6 using the CUDA GPU option you can select in Renderer as you start a new project!!
Any questions i will try to answer them as soon as possible, and as i said i'll screen capture and record a video tutorial as i know that would be of help to some of you out there.. Some proof, here is a pic...

  • Support for nvidia gtx-980 for after effects and premiere

Can someone tell me when Adobe is going to give CUDA support for the Nvidia gtx-980 video cards in After Effects and Premiere CS6?  I purchased this card specifically for those programs, and DON'T want to do a subscription to Creative Cloud.  I purchased the Master Collection through Adobe, and understand that CC versions support it.  Why can't Adobe issue a btch file or update to include these cards.  I am aware of OpenGl support, but I would like to add my new card.  I also just purchased an i7-4790K to upgrade from i5-3570 to help speed up rendering, but would really like to see the video card supported.

    The simple answer is no.

  • Support for NVIDIA Tesla C1060 Computing Processor

I recently discovered that XFDTD, an electromagnetics simulation program, can utilize up to four NVIDA CUDA-enabled graphics cards to reduce computation time by orders of magnitude. While I have a single NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285, I'd be interested in adding one or more TESLA cards to my early 2009 Mac Pro.
Does anyone have any information on whether or not such a card will be supported in the future? Given that Apple computers are promoted as scientific computing platforms (by Apple and myself), I think supporting such a card is must. I also understand that the manufacturers must provide support for EFI and Apple must write the drivers.
The biggest advantage the Tesla card provides over the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 and Quadro FX 4800 cards is that it has 4 GB of GDDR3 RAM, instead of the 1 GB and 1.5 GB of the other cards respectively.
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/producttesla_c1060us.html
Also, does anyone know how many NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 or Quadro FX 4800 cards one can fit into a Mac Pro or if there are any versions that provide 4 GB or memory?

I would like to avoid the Windows/Dell ghetto, if at all possible. As a Unix and Mac OS X user who has spent much of his career keeping a second computer next to his primary workstation just for simulations, I am no longer interested in continuing that inconvenient and costly paradigm. Indeed, I immediately decided to purchase an XFDTD license simply for its Mac OS X support.
With that said, I understand that there are GNU/Linux solutions that support the Tesla C1060 Computing Processor, which if a solution does not exist for Apple hardware, would be the next best thing. XFDTD runs in GNU/Linux as well.
On a related note, I was told that NVIDIA engineers feel that the biggest demand for their Computing Processors is in Linux. If there are NVIDIA employees who might read this, I would like to state that Mac OS X is an extremely competent scientific computing platform and with the addition of OpenCL to the operating system both companies could benefit immensely from compatible Computing Processors. Indeed, if NVIDIA's hardware worked with EFI, I'd have ordered several already.
In October I plan to build a system to add external cards to a Mac Pro using the GTX 285 for now. Perhaps if I can build a proof-of-concept system, it will generate more interest in brining the C1060 Computing Processor to Apple hardware.

  • G4 support for Airport Card alternative?

    Hi all,
It never dawned on me that there is an alternative to Apple's Airport cards for our systems until recently. I have a G4 dual 1GHz system which houses a hookup for the original airport card; the system also has PCI slots. I have an Airport Extreme Base station and would like to restrict my frequency range to the 5 GHz ONLY (to avoid the crowding of 2.4 GHz range.) So, is it correct to say that my G4 is not tied down to the original airport card but can theoretically use "n" capable WIFI cards via on board PCI or USB? And if so, any you would recommend? Also, how's the software support for it, i.e., drivers, Airport Utility, etc. since the card would be third party and not Apples? Would I get the support from say, Airport Utility as if I had an Apple airport card in there or are there going to be compatibility issues? Many thanks!

OK, I just found this out:
    http://www.beowulf.org/archive/2001-July/004174.html
    32 bits/33 Mhz : aggregated ideal peak at 132 MB/s
    64 bits/33 Mhz : aggregated ideal peak at 264 MB/s
And that's shared between all items on the PCI bus.
It would be interesting to measure the bandwidth on the USB 2 PCI card. I've seen it vary wildly on a G4/400 Mhz Yikes, sometimes dropping to as little as USB 1.1 even with only one USB item connected on an IOGear card. I no longer have access to that machine. That's of course assuming nothing else is sharing the same bus.

  • Force Vsync for Nvidia cards and OpenGL apps

    Hello there!
I am new to this forum, so nice to meet you all!
I am trying to profile a little simulation app I've been told to study, but I don't have it's sources. I need to force vsync on this app to make it mach the monitor refresh.
Since apple hasn't developed an Nvidia control panel for OSX, I've been looking around and found the kCGLPFASampleBuffer, kCGLPFASamples...etc attributes wich, when put into the OpenGL Profiler.app, can FSAA.
So my question is: WHAT atributes should I use in OpenGL Profiler.app to force Vsync???
    Thanks!!

I assume you have insured that they WILL install and run properly?

I think it is a shame you don't have the X1900, though. Or 8800 which only works under Windows but interferes with OS X even booting. (I have 8600 which doesn't work in OS X but at least does work in Vista).
Only Business and Ultimate support dual cpus. And only x64 supports 5GB. 32-bit SP1 will see all 5GB but not sure how much it uses. Otherwise, Mac Pro + Vista 32-bit supports 1.9GB RAM - which is paltry.
Does Maya system requirements show the 7300?

  • E65 support for 4Gb card?

I now know the current limit is 2Gb, but too late I brought the 4Gb card. I seem to remember reading somewhere that there may be support for 4Gb in the next firmware update, which I am hoping is end of this month. Anyone know anything about this?

    Hello.
I had a same question and contacted Nvidia Japan technical team.
    Their reply is as follows.
Nvidia will not reliese their new original driver for K5000 ,because K5000 driver is set in OS Mavericks.
Its driver update will be reliesed in accordance with OS update.
In my field ,generally K5000 is fine with Mavericks .Troubels seem to depend on applications.
Only Final Cut Pro X(10.0.9) has a little bit troublesome with K5000. I hear FCP X(10.0.9) is not supporting
K5000 and I'm expecting to a new version of FCP X coming in next month.

  • Support for smart-card authentication in PowerBuilder based application

Hi, I have an application on PB11.5 with an Oracle DB back-end (11.2g). My DoD customer wants the application to use their DoD CAC Card (Smart Card) to authenticate against the Enterprise - Windows Active Directory domain, currently the application uses user-id\password for user authentication.  Is this something newer versions of PB can support and implement? Thank you.

You have a couple of choices:
    1.  Depending on how old their workstations are, or if they have ACTIVCLIENT installed, you could call the CAPICOMM ActiveX using OLE commands
    2.  A solution that doesn't require that ActiveX is to use the Smart Card SDK built into newer versions of Windows.  It does require a lot lower level coding though, as you have to issue specific APDU commands to the card and know how to handle the responses.
I posted a sample of the latter to the NNTP groups back in 2011.  I suppose I should get around to creating a blog entry explaining how to use it.

  • Support for NVidia GPU hardware H.264 encoder (NVENC)?

The latest NVidia GPU architecture, Kepler, now has a dedicated hardware H264 acceleration block, NVENC.
It is similar in function/purpose to "Intel's Quicksync" (except that Quicksync works with more codecs: MPEG-2, VC-1, and H264.  NVENC only supports H264 encoding.)  The company claims the hardware-block can encode 1080p video much faster than the host-CPU alone (probably at the loss of some image quality.)  This feature is supported on desktop NVidia GPUs with the model GT640, GTX6xx.  And in laptop NVidia GPUs GT640M, GT650M, GT680M (and a few others.)
Does Premiere Pro CS6 take advantage of NVENC?  If not, are there any third-party plugins that add NVENC-support to CS6?
If not, I'd like to try writing a plugin that uses NVENC, though that'd definitely be an ambituous undertaking!

I have finished a 'proof-of-concept' NVENC Exporter plugin for CS6.  This took much longer than I thought it would (mostly due to my inexperience in interacting with Adobe's 'suite' API.)  And the beta-plugin is very rough around the edges (no audio or muxing support), and needs some further speed-optimizations, but works well enough for me to start basic testing and behavior characterization.
The following comments are based on my proof-of-concept NVENC-exporter plugin, run on a Geforce GTX650 1GB. The plugin is compiled from the NVidia NVENC Public Beta SDK 2.0 (Dec 2012) and Geforce 314.07 drivers (Feb 2013).  The programmer-API to access NVENC is protected by a license-key.  The SDK comes with a free trial-key, but doesn't indicate how it compares to a (purchased) retail-key (i.e. does it perform the same but with restricted features/functionality, or does a retail-key offer higher quality encodes?)
First off, how is the video image-quality (compared to the MainConcept H264 that Adobe bundles with CS6)?  Based on naked-eye comparisons, NVENC is anywhere from slightly to somewhat worse.  As such, since the quality delta was easily discernable at all bitrates, I didn't find it necessary to take objective psnr measurements.
    (1) At "low bitrates" (eg. 6mbps or less at 1920x1080 24fps), NVENC is noticeably worse than Mainconcept.  The fixed GOP-pattern (group-of-picture) really kills the output-video at scene-transitions, because the encoder doesn't make intelligent decisions about where to place reference-frames.
    (2) At "high bitrates" (eg. ~25mbps for 1920x1080 24fps), NVENC is slightly worse than Mainconcept, though now the two are almost neck-to-neck.  NVENC seems to have problems tracking very subtle color transitions.  For example, on animated/computer-generated scenery (like a Disney cartoon), NVENC had shows a tendency to introduce blocking artificats into sky gradients and other tonal-gradients.  Mainconcept was much better in this regard.
Next, what about speed?  Speedwise, NVENC easily wins (as expected.)
(3a) For 1080p video, NVENC consistently finished straight "media-export" jobs in Adobe Media Encoder (i.e. straight "in to out" without any adjustments/changes to the source video) roughly 3x faster than the Mainconcept H264-Bluray codec.  For example, NVENC needed 30 seconds to re-encoded a 120second Bluray clip.  Mainconcept usually took 90 seconds.  (Both encodes were single-pass VBR; run as video-only, no audio, no muxing.)
(3b) for 3840x2160 video, NVENC's speed-advantage shrinks to roughly 2x. (This is likely due to a very slow hostmem-hostmem frame-copy operation inside my plugin.)
    (4) NVENC CPU-usage hovers between 30-40% during the Adobe Media Encoder session.  Mainconcept always used near 90-100% CPU.  (My machine is an Intel i5-3570K 4-core CPU.)  If someone were comparing NVENC/Mainconcept on a 2-core laptop, the speed-difference would be closer to 6x.  Even so, NVENC falls behind Intel's "QuickSync" technology (unfortunately, Intel doesn't offer a Quicksync exporter-plugin for CS6.)
In summary, in its current state NVENC isn't good enough to replace MainConcept in the content mastering and final encode process.  But many users may find it useful as a 'quick preview tool'; to generate fast encodes for a bunch of different edit/cut tests (with the intention of throwing most of them away.)
