PAC file support for Proxy Servers

When will AIR support PAC files for proxy servers?
In our network, we can't point to a PAC file because the AIR app simply ignores it, and we experience comms issues because of it. The workaround is to configure the network settings to point directly at the proxy, bypassing the PAC file.
This is a big problem as pointing directly at the proxy means a lot of manual configuration for each user that requires the use of the AIR app.
Any clues or suggestions?

IPhone 3G - No support for wired remote controls?

I have been looking all over the place for a wired remote for the iPhone 3G with no luck (and yes I have looked through this forum for an answer before asking my question).
I have attempted to use three wired remotes from my previous iPods, but two of them do not work at all and the third is completely unreliable. It is an Apple branded wired remote for the iPod video with similar design to the iPod Shuffle and allows you to connect your own headphones. It will only function after a hard-reset of the iPhone 3G, and strangely it takes about a minute or two for the buttons to work. If I unplug and replug the remote it will no longer be recognised and will not work again until the iPhone 3G is restarted.
I cannot see any wired remote products in the Apple store and I keep getting blank stares whenever I take this question to sales persons.
I use my iPod extensively and the only reason I bought an iPhone 3G was because I was tired of missing calls whilst listening to mp3s. I consider the wired remote as being essential for satisfactory use when out running, driving the car, etc. Without it the iPod functionally is all but useless to me.
Is there a wired remote that the iPhone 3G supports?
Additionally, are there any iPhone 3G compatible bluetooth devices that essentially perform the same function and allow you to attach your own headphones?

I've been looking for a decent remote for exactly the same reasons since I bought the 3g iPhone on release day. I settled for the Griffin SmartTalk as it allows you to answer calls, play / pause and skip (forward only meh!). Its cheap as chips (and it looks and feels as such) but it kinda does the job. When can we expect support for voice/speech controlled browsing?

I love Mozilla Firefox, but I want to start using Windows-based voice commands to control the browser. I'm currently running Firefox 3.6.13 on an Windows XP Professional Tablet Edition machine and using the OS's built-in speech recognition software. This gives me some control within Firefox, but there is always a question about what to say to effect basic things, like "close tab" or "next tab" or to select a Google search result.

I did follow the directions, I did add the NameVirtualHost *:80 in httpd.conf or in the temporaryfix.conf, I have also add the ServerName www.example.com in 0000_any_80_.conf... But nothing work and I always get the default page instead of each site.
I must admit that I am very frustrated by this, but if the service Web Server in the Server.app shows the 3 sites and the View Document Root Contents point to the right directory; to me it seems that Server.app has a major bug.
I don't seen any recognition of the problem nor a time schedule for a fix.

Proxy Authorization Control (authzID)

I have an ACI that allows a user cn=proxyuser..
with rights of (proxy)
I bind as this user and perform proxyAuth as different users. I am seeing very wiered behaviours with DS 5.1 sp2 and DS5.2
sometimes i get data for user B returned for user A. when I bind as B i dont see that data.. the behaviour is very random.
Any one seen similar behaviour ?
i cant pinpoint it to this too since the logs for DS 5.1 sp2 dont show me authZ as but show only BIND

We have had a similar error. If we search for object X as an admin user, then search for object Y as a proxied user, we get back object Y even though this object should not be visible to the proxied user.
All further searches for object Y as the proxied user correctly return no result. It is only the very first search as a proxied user AFTER performing a search as an admin user, that incorrectly returns object Y.
Did you manage to resolve your problem?

Proxy Authorization with COS connection limits Issue

Any one having issues with connection limits (nsSizeLimit, nsTimeLimit, etc) be applied on connections that come from the proxy server with the proxy authorization control?
Example:
nsSizeLimit is set on user A to 2000, via a COS Pointer definition. If user A connects directly to the directory the nsSizeLimit of 2000 is used. If user A connects through the proxy, and the proxy connection to the directory is through a proxy authorization connection via ID admin1, the limit is not applied and the system default limit 1000 is applied.
If I over-ride the COS value for nsSizeLimit and say its 3000. If I use the proxy connection in this case the limit of 3000 is used. So it only fails for COS settings.
All the ACI's are being correctly applied via the proxy connection just not the connection limits. So basically I can't get the limits to work when I have a COS value being used via the proxy authorization user.
Any ideas on how I can get around this. I want to avoid having to enter in the different limits into entries. Also using the limits in the proxy would create to many connection handlers.

Hi,
I don't think that connection limits (Time, Size and Throughput) for User A can apply to operations that are using the Proxy Authorization for that user. Proxy Authz is a delegation of Authorization for the ACI, and does not apply to Connection specific limits.

Authorization control for batch master

Hello Experts,
I have a special requirement from client on authorization control on batch master. The requirement is user should not be allowed to change the batch header details but allow to change selected characteristic values. For e.g If I have a batch A, the header values such as prod date, country of orgin etc should not be allowed to change. In classification view few characteristics only should be editable, rest all should only be displayed.
Is there any option to do this. Either through authorization control or exits. We dont want to create a custom transaction to achieve this.

Java Proxy Generation not working - Support for Parallel Processing

As per SAP Note 1230721 - Java Proxy Generation - Support for Parallel Processing, when we generate a java proxy from an interface we are supposed to get 2 archives (one for serial processing and another suffixed with "PARALLEL" for parallel processing of jaav proxies in JPR).

We are on the correct patch level as per the Note, however when we generate java proxy from the IR for an outbound interface, it genrates only 1 zip archive (whose name we ourselves provide in the craete new archive section). This does not enable the parallel processsing of the messages in JPR.
Could you please help me in this issue, and guide as to how archives can be generated for parallel processing.

I have already checked SAP Note 1142580 - "Java Proxy is not processing messages in parallel" where they ask to modify the ejb-jar.xml. However, on performing the change in ejb-jar.xml and while building the EAR, I get the following error:
Error! The state of the source cache is INCONSISTENT for at least one of the request DCs. The build might produce incorrect results.
Then, on going through the SAP Note 1142580 again, I realised that the SAP Note 1230721 also should be looked onto which will be needed for generating the Java proxy from Message Interfaces in IR for parallel processing.
Kindly help me if any of you have worked on such a scenario.

MD61 -Authorization control for Version , requirements type -reg

By standard authorization objects available , Plant level authorization control only is there
if we have to give authorization for many users in the same plant based on teh VERSION , REQUIREMENTS TYPE etc... is it not possible ?
can the authorizations objects be created manually for these and assign to teh concerned user's roles ?

Authorization objects can be added for an individual T Code also in SU24.
Check with your Basis consultant,Also i think its possible to give the authorization for versions as well
as requirement type also.

Authorization control for ordering specific materials

Is it possible to set up control on specific materials, so that those materials can not be allowed for procurement unless the authorization is provided.
In this context, can we use DG profile and assign certain authorizations?
The specific requirement is intended for identifying such material as well as for providing authorization for ordering.

If you want to control on ordering material, you can set up Release Procedure, so that without approval ,purchase order can not be processed.
If you want to block the material for procurement, you can use Source list ( ME11), block the material , when ever required, you can remove the block and procure it and again block it.

Authorization control for actual price calculation

I found that there is no authorization control for actual price calculation(KSII), this means user can calculate actual price for all cost centers, even this cost center belongs to other company. Is there a way to control this?

By SAP standard we do not have the control. we also have the same situation. We are venturing in to Realisation phase and we decided to have some kind of program (development) to control this.

Proxy support for third party applications

Hi all.
I have seen many posts by users saying that some applications cannot access the internet, while connected to a network with proxy authentication.
Ultimately, the problem lies in iOS not supporting system-wide proxy settings. We are therefore stuck with applications where the developer has not included their own proxy authentication methods. This is really pathetic in my opinion, seeing as the iPad, although primarily focused on a media and leisure based market, is actually used by a lot of people in the enterprise world.
There has not been any official announcement by Apple about this issue on other threads, or any announcement as to when support for this will be added. As a university student, I am forced to bring both my MacBook and iPad to campus, simply because I cannot access certain online services, such as DropBox, from my iPad. It actually makes me question what the point in getting the device was in the first place, as my primary intended usage is to eliminate the need for my MacBook to come with me to university.
I would like Apple to please give any response on this, especially seeing as these devices are bought by many people with the intention of using it on many different networks on the move. Please, don't get me wrong - with the applications that work, and the usage I have with my iPad as is, I really enjoy the device, and it is great in many aspects, but simple functions such as internet access for applications under proxy authentication should be a given feature.
With that all said, I have not had a chance to update to 4.3.1 yet, and I am not aware if it has been fixed yet or not - the change log says nothing about it though. Has anyone found a solution to this yet? Are some of you also experiencing it?

EDIT: I notice that in the change log of 4.3.1, it says: "Resolves an issue authenticating with some enterprise web services". Can anyone confirm if this has fixed the issue?

Yes same here, Ipad and Iphone 4S all iOS 5.1.1 behind a proxy....Safari works but pretty much none of my other Apps. proxy acceptance will be a critical blow in the war for the Enterprise market. I need access to Apps I now rely on and they simply do not work.
With MS Surface only weeks away once people start using this with 100% success through a proxy, ( not to mention real Office that works with macros and all formatting..Oh and stylus friendly too!) a lot of apple devices may start to gather dust.
Common Apple, lets move on from Toys and get serious about work too. I am guessing there are a lot of us out there trying to make ipads work at work...help us out!
