Support for the JPEG 2000 Image Format?

Does anyone know whether Adobe plans to support JPEG 2000 at
some time?

The RAW file format of the Nikon D90 is supported by Aperture 2, but not earlier versions, according to:
http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
* Requires Aperture 2 with Mac OS X v10.4.11 Tiger or Mac OS X v10.5.2 Leopard or later.
Download the trial version of Aperture 2 and see what happens.
Do not connect the camera directly to the Macinotsh. Use a card reader that is compatible with your cards, copy the files from the card reader to a dedicated folder of your choosing, and then import the image files from the folder.

    Hello.
    What is the most
suitable image format for processing with imaq?
I want to capture an image of a usb webcam, store and
then process it with imaq. I need to know what format to save the
captured image can then load and process it with imaq vision.
    Thanks

The only criteria is: don't use JPEG for anything scientific!  The compression involved with saving JPEGs means you always lose information.  I tend to prefer PNG - it's compressed, but non-lossy, and also widely supported.  TIFF is fine as well, but I don't think has any advantages over PNG for this application.  JPEG2000 can give good non-lossy compression I think is slower to read/write than PNG.

I run AE 8 at work, and I have absolutely no problem with Jpeg 2000 stuff.  I don't see why you would on AE 10.
And if you don't have it already, go download the latest version of Quicktime 7.  Don't get Quicktime 10 or X or whatever they call it: it's a train wreck ready to happen.  If you steel yourself to spend an extra 35 bucks, you can get Quicktime Pro, probably one of the most versatile little pieces of software available.

  • FR: JPEG 2000 Preview Format

I'd like to get PNG Image Sequence added as a preview option for all sequences.  There are several benefits to using PNG for this purpose.  They're lossless, so the previews can be used for export without any degradation.  They're significantly smaller than other lossless options like TIFF or DPX.  They can can contain alpha channel for transparencies.  They can be up to 16 bit depth.  And perhaps one of the largest benefits is that as an image sequence, preview rendering can be interrupted and resume where it left off.  This is not possible with normal video files.  If you stop a render, you have to start over.  Not so with an Image Sequence.
Combine JPG2000 previews with the new Background Rendering feature suggested below, and I think PP becomes a much better NLE.

    JPEG 2000 Previews
I would love to have the JPEG 2000 format available as an option for previews in all sequence presets.
Why is this feature important to you?
The ideal preview format should offer:
    1. No resolution or frame rate limitations.
    2. Sufficient quality to be used for export.
    3. Can compete with UT or DNxHD for speed.
    4. Doesn't take inordinate room on the hard drive.
    5. Can be resumed if render is interrupted/Only changed frames need rerendering.
JPEG 2000 is probably the ONLY option that offers all these features.

    Boy, you ain't kidding.
My one minute test created UT, DNxHD and AVC-I files in less than a minute.  The MPEG I-Frame took less than 30 seconds.  The PNG files took over 14 minutes!  This format is not nearly as practical as I imagined it would be.
Further, the PNG files actually took up more room than the UT, DNxHD and AVC-I files, though far less than TIFF and DPX, which are wholly too large to be practical.
That still leaves us with something of an issue to be resolved, though.
What preview format can offer these features (with this order of priority).
    1. No resolution or frame rate limitations
    2. Sufficient quality to be used for export
    3. Can compete with UT or DNxHD for speed?
    4. Doesn't take inordinate room on the hard drive
    5. Can be resumed if render is interrupted/Only changed frames need rerendering
PNG fails big time at 3.
DPX and TIFF fail at 3 and 4.
UT fails at 5 and sometimes 2 (being 8 bit).
Uncompressed fails at 4, 5 and sometimes 2 (being 8 bit).
    MPEG fails at 1, 2 and 5.
DNxHD and AVC-I fail at 1 and 5.
    V-210 fails at 5.
    What's left?

  • Why no support for the Leica M9 in LR 2.6 RC?

Hi - bemused that there's no support for the M9 in this release (especially as LR is bundled with the M9).  Even more confusing as the Standard Adobe calibration profile for the M9 that comes with the LR3 Beta is pretty good (beats the embedded profile that comes with the Leica DNGs) - and this can be added to the LR2.5 profile library with a bit of copying and pasting.
I'd be grateful to hear from Adobe if there's any chance of a good M9 profile making it to the 2.6 final version.  Seems a shame to miss this opportunity.
    Thanks
    Chris Tribble

    Hello Chris,
    thanks for the nice feedback.
For the moment, I will use LR for the fast preview of all images,
cataloging etc., and RawDeveloper for the fine tuning, as often as the
    image permit it.
    (sorry for my english!)
Lets hope that we will get through all that without loosing our
    perfectly nice temper !
    All the best to you,

  • Firefox for Mac preferences shows .qif file format for quicken as "quicktime image format"-wrong application and won't let me select anything else

    Post to Firefox forum; Oct.2011
Re: Quicken 2007; Mac OS 10.5
Problem: can’t import or download Qif format files into quicken from bofa or Chase. Mac can’t recognize; how do I set preferences in Firefox (or Safari).
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/new?product=desktop&category=d1&search=Firefox+for+Mac+preferences+shows+.qif+file+format+for+quicken+as+%22quicktime+image+format%22-wrong+application+and+won%27t+let+me+select+anything+else&showform=1
    Hello,
I previously used Firefox on my old Mac G4 with OS 10.3.9; the above issue existed with that system and Firefox 2.00.2 (or similar). I then "tried" to move to a G5 Mac with OS 10.5, hoping that an updated Mac Operating system and updating Firefox would solve that problem.
I'm now working on my son's MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.8, 2.4 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo; 2gb Memory; 2 gb 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.
I still have a problem in Firefox Preferences trying to download .qif files. BofA Mortgage accounts only allow downloading of .qif files. My .qfx download works fine, but the error message is as follows:
The error message is that this is a corrupted file or one that Preview doesn't recognize.
and it is still a problem when trying to download Quicken .qif format files for our B of A mortgage.
The preferences for Firefox under File Helpers won't let me name the extension I want; instead, it CONFUSES .qif (Quicken Interchange Format) with .qtif (Quicktime Image Format) for Mac.
Therefore, when I download .qif files and try to import them to Quicken, I get a message that this is a corrupted file:
    thanks for any help.
    Val in Seattle

Well, in the end, I just gave up and deleted the photos, in the hope that it was something to do with them. Took some more photos and they seem to have imported without any problems at all.
Given that the same irksome photos loaded on the wife's macbook without so much as a murmur, how weird is that?
Still- all's well that ends well. Thanks for the suggestions- much appreciated.
    Matt

Rob, my reading of your site is that this plug-in copies settings from raw to jpeg, does it work the other way around as well?
    Rob Cole wrote:
One of the great things about the new 0-based defaults and linear tone curve is:
You can develop the jpegs now, in Lightroom, and then sync the settings to the raws later (e.g. using RawPlusJpeg), and provided you select a matching camera profile, they will look almost the same (white balance won't translate over, but everything else will, more or less). Beware lens corrections applied to the raws might alter the registration of precision local adjustments.
Note: I recommend shooting with ADL off in order for this to work better, and consider turning sharpening off in camera as well, and noise reduction and everything else to whatever extent is possible.

  • How can I use JPEG-2000 images with my old Elements 2.0?

Is there a plug-in or other step that will allow me to work with JPEG-2000 images using my Elements 2.0 software?

I do apologize, as i should have asked what operating system you were using.
Anyway, It looks like that plugin is to new for pse 2 on the mac side.
I believe it only works in pse 6 and newer, though they used to have older versions, there doesn't seem to be any links to them.
You should remove that plugin and for future reference, plugins/filters should go in the Plug-Ins folder, not in the photoshop elements 2.0 application package.
Are you able to open the jpeg 2000 files in the Preview application?

Just bought a Nikon d750 and confused about adobe LR4 and PS6 support for the RAW files. I have DNG 8.7 but wondering if LR and PS will import direct soon Thanks for any advice

Support for the Nikon D750 was introduced in the latest version of LR 5.7 and ACR 8.7 on Novemder 18th 2014.
Further updates to LR 4 were stopped when LR 5 was released on June 9th 2013. No further updates for bug fixes and new camera support.
Nada, LR 4 will never support Nikon D750. The Nikon D750 was introduced into the market in September 2014 some 15 months after further development of LR 4 was discontinued.
You can use the Adobe DNG program (free download for the package) to convert the Nef (raw) files from your Nikon D750 to the Adobe DNG format which will permit you to import those into LR 4. This is the crutch provided by Adobe to allow for the processing of raw files with outdated versions of LR and ACR.
You can also update the ACR plugin for PS CS6 to version 8.7 which can also work with the raw files from the D750. For direct support in Lightroom you will need to upgrade (paid) to version 5.7.

  • Is there support for the GraphicsFmt object in FrameMaker 11 ExtendScript?

I was reading the FDK documentation for FrameMaker 11 and I see that support has been added for Object formats using FO_GraphicsFmt.
Is there support for the GraphicsFmt object in FrameMaker 11 ExtendScript?
If not, when will it be added?
Another question: Will the ExtendScript documentation ever be improved?

    Stuart,
I am pretty sure you can use the object from ExtendScript. With the FDK documentation you should be able to guess the property names in ExtendScript, but the easiest way is to use a small test document and write a small script to get at the GraphicsFmt object. Set a breakpoint and use the Data Browser and/or JavaScript Console to see how FM uses the object.
As for better ExtendScript documentation: I am working on a website (www.progframe.com) that will feature better documentation, combining the current docs with stuff picked up from the FDK reference and test scripts. It will also have tutorials for newbie scripters. If Adobe does not put an effort into the docs, I might as well do it and possibly pick up some scripting jobs that way. I am planning to launch the website early next year and keeping it up to date so that ExtendScript info is immediately available when a new FM version hits the market.
    Kind regards
    Jang

  • RAW Support for the New EOS 5D

Please update the RAW plug-in to support the new Canon EOS 5D!

    Andrew,
Version 3.2 of Camera Raw has unofficial support for the 5D (in other words it works NOW). Download version 3.2 and install it in the PROPER location. If the thumbnails still don't appear you should purge the cache for the folder containing the 5D images - assuming you installed it correctly it WILL work
BTW: if you'd gone to the camera Raw forum you would have already to the above info!

  • [svn:osmf:] 10440: Add parser support for the Video tag.

    Revision: 10440
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-09-20 15:03:56 -0700 (Sun, 20 Sep 2009)
    Log Message:
Add parser support for the Video tag.  Add unit test for an empty document.
    Modified Paths:
        osmf/trunk/libs/VAST/.flexLibProperties
        osmf/trunk/libs/VAST/org/openvideoplayer/vast/model/VASTInlineAd.as
        osmf/trunk/libs/VAST/org/openvideoplayer/vast/parser/VASTParser.as
        osmf/trunk/libs/VASTTest/org/openvideoplayer/vast/parser/TestVASTParser.as
    Added Paths:
        osmf/trunk/libs/VAST/org/openvideoplayer/vast/model/VASTMediaFile.as
        osmf/trunk/libs/VAST/org/openvideoplayer/vast/model/VASTVideo.as

The video tag only supports a few formats and MKV (Matroska Multimedia Container) isn't one of them.<br />
Your only option is to use the object (or embed) tag and use a player that can handle that format.<br />
If might be better to switch to the WebM format.<br />

  • No ext4 support for the micro SD

I have a 64GB micro SD card that I formatted to ext4 and works without any problem in my LG GPad 8.3 Android 4 tablet and Linux computer.
I tried it in my Z1C, but it tells me the SD is damaged.
When is Sony going to add ext4 support for the micro SD port?
It can't be that hard, as Android is based on Linux and Linux has support for ext4 for several years now.

As far as I know, only exFAT is supported for now.Contact xperia care for more info:
