Support job in integated planning

Hi all,
I am new to integrated planning.. and i got a job SAP BI support consultant.. my question is..
1. what r the roles and responsibilities of a support consultant in BI INTEGRATED PLANNING..
2. what r the  major issues or tickets that wil in come in bi integrated palnning.
points wil be assigned
thanks in advance

---> roles and responsibilities depend on your team and the project. In braoder sense, you have to carry out all the data loads, loading planning sequesnce, sending the status, updating tracking file etc.
> Again, it will differ project by project. No all customers will face the same problem. Some of the issue    could be like this:
   ...Sales Duplicate Customer model matrix
-- activity by a particular user
Thanks...

Hello i am using TimeMachine to back-up entire Mac image (data + system) on an usb-local drive. I would like (on top of it) add a specific plan to back up some files on a remote network drive. Does TimeMachine support multiple back-up plans ? How ?

Time Machine is capable of backing up to multiple locations, and can be used to back up to both a local hard drive and a networked drive (provided that that drive is in or connected to a Time Capsule or another Mac that is sharing it over the network). The catch, though, is that you can't specify different things to back up to different destinations. Whatever you exclude from Time Machine backups is excluded from ALL backups, and whatever is included is included on all.
So, get a large enough drive that you can back up everything you want in all locations, or use something else for maintaining the network backup.
More information on these topics can be found here:

  • Maintance jobs with Maintenance plans - troubleshooting

Some of our old servers have maintenance jobs created with inbuilt mainteance plans. We find difficulty in troubleshooting these kind of jobs when it fails. Can anyone shed a detailed analysis of how to troubleshoot these jobs which are created with maintenance
plan like where to look, any system table/view that could help etc. The job history gives very minimal details and often result in cropped off messages.
I was told that if we alter the maintenace plans associated with the jobs and save it. It will break the job, is it so?

    For SQL server 2000
You can check the failure logs either from jobs or Maintenance plan history
In enterprise manager, expand the server group
Expand the management folder and select the database maintenance plans
Right click the maintenance plan that failed and select the Maintenance plan history
Check for the failure occurred and double click the failed row to see more details or on failure
Similarly from SQL server 2005 onwards maintenance plan history, you can check from maintenance plan
In SSMS, connect to SQL instance
Expand the Management folder and select the maintenance plans
Select the maintenance plan and click on maintenance plan history and check for the failure

  • Is there any way to disable supporting detail functionality in Planning?

    Hi all
Just had a user request to be able to disable the supporting detail functionality in Planning forms. We are on 11.1.1.3. All we want is to disable the double click functionality that brings up the supporting detail box.
    Thanks

Ok I have found a way to disable supporting detail and I thought I would share it in case anyone else needed to do this. Similar to what John has suggested, it involves javascript but a much simpler way.
In the parent directory of where the ValidateData.js file is {[Hyperion_Home]\deployments\Tomcat5\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning} there are a large number of javascript files. I had a look through these and found the EnterData.js file. Make a backup of this file, and edit the original.
If you edit this, and search for doSupportingDetail, you can simply comment out all of the code in this function except for the return line. Its not a good idea to comment the whole function out or else I would expect other functions may call on this and then fail. At least if its just calling the doSupportingDetail and immediately returning back to the calling function, this would have no issues.
Restart your session and it should all work.
Obviously you can improve this blanket change by specifying which apps / forms supporting detail should apply for by using the equalsIgnoreCase function in the validatedatasample.js example.

  • Support job

    Hi fiiends
In SAP support job, when we reach to office and open our system, where we click to check what ticket i have to solve.
Can any one please send detail steps how our job start, how we solve, what other issues involved, what tools we use, review meeting, arguments etc.
    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi,
Normally your company will be using a support tool for solving tickets.  in your mailbox, u will find
the ticket which is assigned to you.
if you are not clear about the ticket, you will respond bac to the end-user or the concerned person
regarding the issue.  he will give u more clarifications regarding the problem he is facing.
you may still request him to send a screen-shot of the problem he is facing to get a more clearer
pictures. like this you will have many interactions.
you then work on the issue and solve it.  you then do proper testing and take an approval from the enduser for the same and ask him to close the ticket.
    regards,

    Hi Joaquin,
According to your description, the error occurred when you re-created the Search Service Application.
Based on the error message, I recommend to verify the things below:
       1. Check if the association between the Search Service Application proxy and the web application is configured.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Configured service application associations > Click Default to see if the Search Service application is checked.
       2. Change the app pool for the Search Service Application to SharePoint Web Services Default in the properties of the Search Service Application.
Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage service applications > Highlight the Search Service Application > Click Properties in the ribbon > Change
the two app pool to SharePoint Web Services Default: App Pool For Search Admin Web Service and Application Pool for Search Query and Site Settings Web Service.
        3. Run PS command to check if the search admin timer job is enabled: Get-SPTimerJob
job-application-server-admin-service | fl. If it is not enabled, use PS command to enabled it and then reset Internet Information Services: Enable-SPTimerJob job-application-server-admin-service.
    Best regards.

  • MRP batch job not creating planned orders

    Hi Experts,
Can anyone help with suggestions of where/what to look at with this situation. My MRP background (batch) job is not creating planned orders for materials in certain MRP planning areas as expected, but will create planned orders in other MRP planning areas.   Running MD01 or MD03 creates planned orders for materials in all MRP planning areas of the plant as expected.

    Ben,
Any time you get a difference between interactive MRP and batch MRP, first look to the planning file.
Start out by finding some of the discrepant parts (no planned orders are being created) Review for the presence of a planning file entry in MD21. If an entry does not exist, create one in MD20.  If an entry does exist in MD21, but there is nothing in the NETCH/ NETPL/reset ord/reexpl bom cols, then this means no relevant changes have taken place, and NETCH MRP will ignore the parts. You can optionally reset these flags in MD21.
If you discover that you have one material for which there is nothing in MD21 (no record at all), then you probably have others as well. Run MDAB in Background, which will mass create all the missing entries. Also a good idea to run MDRE in case something has been corrupted.
Here is [OSS note 205681|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/205681] which explains a bit about the planning file.  Also, See  [OSS 371016|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/371016] which describes a similar problem.

  • Forcing use of Supporting Detail in Hyperion Planning data form

    Hi everyone.
We're using Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.2 and for one particular data form, I'd like force users to HAVE TO use Supporting Detail on specific cells. I think there might be a way to do this using custom JavaScript functions and modifying the form code but I am wondering if there is a way to do this without code on the form. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    A quick simple example
    function customCellEnterPre(row, col, cell) {
         if(row == 3 && col ==1)
              doSupportingDetail();
         return true;

  • Quetion about support of attributes in planning

    Hi All,
I have one doubt in Oracle essbase study guides I found that Only 'Text atrributes are supported in planning databases' but in planning work space I am able to create text, numeric, boolean and date types of attribute and able to use manage database select options Database to reflect outline changes of assigned attribute dimension to sparse dimension. Even after planning refresh I am able to see boolean, date, numeric attributes in essbase outline. So planning is supporting these 4 types of attributes? am I correct or going wrong somewhere?
In few words my question whether planning supports only text attribute or text, numeric, boolean and date type of attributes?

Thanks Mehmet. In Oracle Essbase boot camp material in the attribute dimension chapter he mentioned as a note: Only text attributes are supported in planning databases. Can check this and have you worked on date, boolean and numeric attributes in planning? While working are you facing any issues?

  • Detail Designer for Job in Succession Planning!

    Hi Luke,
I want to do some changes (like hiding button, removing or adding a tab) for 'Job' & 'Job Family' in details panel for Succession Planning. But I'm not able to see these objects in admin console of succession planning.
Do I need to make those changes through backend? If yes, please tell me the folder, where I can access relevant files & make the changes.
    Thanks in advance!
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
The Job Family details panel can be edited in the AdminConsole. Go to the Positions module, select Job Families with Successors and then click Details Designer. After you changes make sure you go to the Profile section (the one after Details Designer) and click Copy From Details Designer so that your changes are also made in the Profile.
For the Job details panel you need to make changes at file level. The details panel presentation file controls the layout of the details panel. These are located in AppResources\detailspresentationconfiguration:
    Job: SAPJobDetailsPresentation.xml
    Job (Profile): SAPJobDetailsPresentationMoreDetails.xml
You may need to refer back to the details configuration to find the button section names. These are:
    Job: SAPJobDetailsConfiguration.xml
    Job (Profile): SAPJobMoreDetailsDetailsConfiguration.xml
    Best regards,
    Luke

  • Is SAP support job is Good For future??

I got a job offer as a SAP support on multiple modules[MM,SD,ABAP]. Company bond is 4 years[company is trusted] and i need to work on as a SAP support for 4 year[no implemention].
Is SAP support have a future or not?tell me the growth and salary after 4 year.I don't have a SAP certificate and course, but i have done my java course. Tell me can i accept job offer or not. Salary is 2.4 lakhs per annum and then 3.6lakhs per annum then 3rd and 4th year not so much growth.
Plz plzz reply me what knowlegde u have abt SAP support.

    Hi Sonal,
I am into SAP from the past 6 years.
Future in SAP is always best. I have seen many consultants rising with good track in there career.
Your friend RAJ is so lucky that without any SAP background, he got an opportunity in it.
I suggest  you people to utilize it.
Don't think really SAP Support means - you need to provide your services only for existing developments. Apart from the existing developments you received new developments as part of Support project.
Currently I am working in Support project but literally speaking I worked on only 5% of the existing developments, but 95% worked on all the new developments.
As you said RAJ has to work on different modules - yes of course as SAP consultants we can stick to only one module. If a consultant has multiple modules then his demand would grow to high in the point of opportunities.
Never think that you have to be in Support project on different modules for 4 or more years. Just think that you don't have offer in your hand now, then what is your approach? What are you going do? Are you going to learn any technology? If yes, how are the openings for the technology you  have choose after you complete your training?
Just ask these questions to yourself? If you really don't want to waste time and want to click soon in your career then you have the option already waiting for you to  move to SAP.
SAP is always king in ERP industry. The growth, onsite opportunities, challenging career etc will always be there here. The only thing you need to do is - Dedication, Hardworking and Updating your self on different modules always.
I think I have provided you enough information. If you have any doubts further please feel free to ask.
It's not only me, but  everyone would suggest you the same.
JUST DON'T LOOSE AN OPPORTUNITY WHERE YOU CAN GROW ALWAYS...!!!
    Regards,
    Rafi

  • Background jobs deleted when planning version is deleted

    Hi everyone,
We are implementing SAP APO version 4.1. We have the following problem. We have a simulation version used from time to time. When it is not used, it is deleted for performance reasons. However, when we delete planning version, background demand planning jobs (SNP jobs as well) are deleted although we do not want this to happen. Is there any suggestion to overcome this problem?
    Thanks in advance. Regards,
    Jenny

    Hi Jenny,
As mentioned by R. Senthil Mareeswaran. it is (unfortunately) standard.
The easiest solution in my opinion is to never delete completely a version.
However you can, to reduce the space consume by the version, "reinitialise" it: instead of deleting it, copy back the active version on your simulaiton version but FOR MASTER DATA ONLY.
This way all transactional data are deleted, which save a lot of space.
I think this will also automatically deinitialise the planning area... If not do that to!
Good new: if you do that yur jobs will not be deleted.
Next time you want to use the version, do again a copy, with transactional data!
Ps: your job can be transported from on system to another, so hopfully you haven't lost them all: just transport / reimport the request
    good luck
    Thanks and Regards
    Julien

  • Recover Supporting Detail notes in Planning

Our organization dimenion was restructured and before loading the new organization the old org dimension was dropped manually via Planning. We have exports of the data (all levels and lev-0 as well) on files. Where do Supporting Detail/Notes get stored in Planning or Essbase? Is there a way to recover the supporting detail from the exported file or some other way?

    Hi,
The query needs really to be written to fit in with your application because it changes depending on how many dimensions you have
In its simplest form you could extract with something like
    select item.label,item.value, dim1.object_name scenario, dim2.object_name account,
    dim3.object_name entity,dim4.object_name period,dim5.object_name version,
    dim6.object_name currency,dim7.object_name year
    from
    hsp_column_detail dtl, hsp_column_detail_item item, hsp_object dim1,
    hsp_object dim2, hsp_object dim3,hsp_object dim4,hsp_object dim5
    ,hsp_object dim6,hsp_object dim7
    where dtl.detail_id = item.detail_id
    and dtl.dim1 = dim1.object_id
    and dtl.dim2 = dim2.object_id
    and dtl.dim3 = dim3.object_id
    and dtl.dim4 = dim4.object_id
    and dtl.dim5 = dim5.object_id
    and dtl.dim6 = dim6.object_id
    and dtl.dim7 = dim7.object_id
That is based on the standard dimensions and no custom dimensions, you would need to modify it depending what other information you want to include.
    Cheers
