Support Olympus E-410

I have used aperture since week 1 that it has been released. And love it. But I am wondering how long before a new camera such as the Olympus E-410 has raw support in it? For example, its right now my wife's camera, but it will make a great backup camera, so I will use it a bit. But any guess on how long till the raw decode feature become available?
MacPro 2.6 (YEAH!!!)   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

A date for E-410 RAW support? Your guess is as good as mine.
I'm purchasing an E-510 once they're available through B&H and hope that OS X & Aperture support it quickly. I'm very happy with my E-500, but the E-510 looks like it will address a few shortcomings of this otherwise fine camera.
In the mean time, Can anyone suggest a workflow that would let me use TIFFs created with Olympus's RAW converter and then replace them with the RAW files once they're supported? I'd rather not have to individually lift and stamp the metadata from hundreds of images.
Thanks,
Andreas

  • 4.2.1 breaks RAW format (Olympus E-410 - maybe other formats)

Pre 4.2.1 I was able to import RAW files from my Olympus E-410 (Camera Kit and USB cable) and view them, edit them in Photogene, transfer them using Transfer, etc. I was also able to preview them and send them via USB to Aperture (2).
Now I am unable to edit them in Photogene (just crashes before selecting them, though I can use PhotoPad to select and edit), I can't transfer them via Transfer, and I can’t preview them or even see names or other metadata in Aperture prior to transfer (though they do come over OK). Is the preview function broken in 4.2.1 or what?

  • Will Adobe Premiere Pro support Olympus E-P1 videos and when?

Premiere Pro does not support Olympus PEN E-P1 videos.
Will this be supported and any indication of when?
    Thanks

How would appealing to Professionals by excluding windows XP be suicidal?   Assuming the next version takes a year or so; what pro editer will be running a 32 OS a year from now?
I didn't say anything about "professionals" (that's your addition) and I didn't say anything about Windows XP. As far as I'm aware, even Windows 7 will still be available as a 32-bit version. And I would submit that a large percentage--perhaps even a majority, though I have no numbers to back this hunch up--of the installed Premiere Pro user base are not what we would typically classify as "professionals". I quick reading of a cross-section of posts on this very forum should be evidence enough of that. I think the notion of a "video professional" went out the window when desktop video editing software and production equipment became affordable to Every Joe, and I say this as someone who considers himself a "video professional" and tries to make his living as such. The barriers to entry were removed, and for better or worse, Adobe is largely responsible for that--giving Premiere away for free with hardware back in the day, or providing the Creative Suite bundles today, for example. This is why Avid, which was always The Professional's Choice (tm) had to do away with half of their product line and slash the price on their flagship product to an obscenely affordable level. They realized that prestige meant nothing for market share and for profit.
I don't think Adobe necessarily cares too much about being the professional's choice at this stage of the game, at least not with their video editing product. They want to be as much to as many as possible--there is little benefit in being elite, and a move at this time to a solely 64-bit platform is elitist. They are digital media socialists, at least while they're trying to overtake Avid and Apple. I think of Premiere Pro in its present state as sort of a gateway drug--it may be as hardcore as you need to get, or once you get a taste, you need to move on to something a little more powerful. Look at how Premiere now interfaces with Avid (AAF import/export) and FCP (XML import): it's the digital equivalent of passing the dutchie. Once they've got enough loyalists, I do believe you'll see a move to an all 64-bit platform--but not until everyone's feeling reeeeeeeeally gooooooood.
Rats. Now you've got me thinking all seriously about this. Somebody pass the chips.

  • What level of Elements will support Olympus OMD-M-5 Raw Files (.ORF) ??

What level of Elements will support Olympus OMD-M-5 Raw Files (.ORF) ??

Yes it is the OM-D E-M5 Newly purchased. Love the camera but don't like the Olympus software.
I have Elements 7, but have previously been a Canon user and have hitherto used Canon DPP software to process my CR2 Raw files.

  • IPhoto does not support Olympus Raw

Understand that IPhoto does not support Olympus Raw, and since IPhoto will disappear from support next year, will the new Photo support this version of Raw?

It isn't just iPhoto - if RAW is supported, it will also be in Aperture and ( I believe, but am not sure) in Image Capture.
    babowa,
I think, only Aperture and iPhoto are supported.
See the requirements in the Raw Compatibility updates:
    Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 6.01
    System Requirements OS X 10.10 w/ iPhoto 9.6 or Aperture 3.6

  • Camera Support - Olympus e620

    Hi All,
I've recently bought an Olympus e620, and Aperture 2.0 thinking there wouldn't be any problems with the camera being supported (given the E-3 is supported, and the formats are the same).
Unfortunately it seems the camera isn't supported, and as such I can't use Aperture for my photos without going through a rather involved conversion process (using Adobe Raw)
Does anyone know of any updates (in beta, perhaps) which are available for use? I'm perfectly happy to put up with bugs if it means I can use my copy of Aperture!
    Thanks

This lack of support is shameful.
I spent an hour in the Birmingham Apple store last week. Saw an excellent demo of Aperture and like a fool I assumed that it would import .orf files from my Olympus e620. Paid £120.00 for it and it's completely USELESS!
The fact that it doesn't import my RAW files is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!
Why should I have to mess about with an intermediate step of converting to DNG by using a FREE piece of software from Adobe to enable this CrApple (not free) software to work?
Adobe? Aren't they a major competitor of Apple for photo imaging software?
Can someone from Apple please comment on this as a matter of urgency. Come on Apple. You used to be a good company - now we're all rapidly becoming rows in your spreadsheet who don't matter.
    Pete.
    Here's what you do:
    1) Go back to the Apple store with your copy and (if you have one) your laptop. And your E-620.
    2) Book a Genius, and get them to try and do it. Take lots of time. Lots and lots.
    3) When it does not work, get a refund.
If you think you are a line on their spreadsheet, then don't make Apple a line in yours.
    Then buy Lightroom.

  • Does aperture support Olympus ep-5

I am going to buy a Olympus ep-5.
Can i use aperture of Apple with raw files, or have i to buy Adobe lightroom?
Can anyone help me out whit this?
    Thanks for doing so.

You are in the iMovie discussions. You may get better results in the Aperture discussions. I will ask a host to move this post over there so the Aperture experts will see it.
I think the answer to your question is yes, but let the experts weigh in. One of them may even have your camera.

  • Olympus E-P3 Raw Support Question

I recently purchased an Olympus E-P3. I thought that Aperture supported Raw format with this camera (at least according to Apple's own statements, it is supposed to be supported). But I loaded photos from my Olympus into Aperture and it just gave me a message that there were unsupported files and it did not import any of the raw files.
So, does Aperture 3 support Olympus Raw or not? I read in other places that people were having to manually tell Aperture to reprocess files and somehow that worked. But I thought Raw support meant that raw files would upload directly into Aperture.
What exactly does "raw support" mean if Aperture doesn't recognize Olympus ORF files?
    Thanks.
    Aperture 3.2.2
Yes I just updated all my software including Aperture Raw support

Looking at this page OS X Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats the Olympus PEN E-P3 is show as supported by 10.7.2 so a few last things I can think to try:
One is to do the steps listed in Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics. Doesn;t seem like this would be a library problem but you never know and the procedures don;t take much time.
Would be to create a new library and try to import a RAW file into that just to try and narrow down where the problem is.
Would be to create a new user on your system, log in as that user, run Aperture and try to import a RAW file for the same reason.
Would be to post  RAW file on the net somewhere like dropbox so one of us could test it out on our systems to see if it behaves any differently.
Finally a call to Apple to find out whats going on.
    good luck
    regards
Message was edited by: Frank Caggiano - One other thing I just thought of. Try to import using iPhoto (if you have it) or with Image Capture to try and narrow down the problem to Aperture or the Raw CAmera bundle

  • RAW support for Olympus OMD EM5

Outfitting for a year long back pack trip. My MacBook Pro is going. Am in processof purchasing an Olympus OMD EM5 micro 4/3 camera for the trip. I use Aperture for photo processing. Any idea when or if  Aperture will add support for developing the RAW shots from the EM5?
    thnx

The usual interim approach for raw support has been to use Adobe's DNG converter to create DNGs that Aperture could read. This has always worked with the esception of non-Bayer sensors like the Foveon in Sigma cameras. But I can't get Aperure to read DNGs created from my E-M5's ORFs using DNG Converter v6.7 and have no idea where the problem lies.
It's taken Apple months to support Olympus cameras in the past, so I'm not optimistic.

  • Olympus E-5 support

Olympus E-5 was release last October and there is no indication whether Adobe is going to support it in the next camera raw update. What I do know to go over this problem is to change the camera name to E-30 in the Exif info of my photos so I can use it in camera raw which kind of hassle to do.
So the question is, when Adobe is going to support the E-5?
    Regards,

I just received my new Olympus E-5 and realize that my Photoshop Elements
9 does not support my new camera, or rather, Camera RAW 6.2 does not.
So I would also like to know when there will be a Camera RAW version that supports Olympus E-5 RAW files?

  • ORF from Olympus C-5060WZ is not supported

I've found out that although Aperture supports RAW files from Olympus C-7070WZ, it does not support Olympus C-5060WZ. And that's a big issue for me, because I have a lot of ORF pictures from this camera. Is there some workaround for this? Or maybe I can hope that support for my camera will be added in the future?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think realistically one would expect Apple to support your C-5060WZ. I say that for a number of reasons.
First, people are clamoring for support of a variety of very popular new cameras. Apple has been slowing in coming with those, so it would surprise me to see them go back and support older cameras that are not currently supported. I think the 5060 was released in '03. 5 years is a long time in the digital photography world.
Second, the history of updates tends to ignore cameras that are not leaning more towards the professional side of things, though there are exceptions. There are a lot of great cameras they could support, but have chosen not to since day one.
Finally, Apple communicates nothing to its customers about its plans. Frustrating, but that's the way it works at Apple.
You really have no way of knowing for sure, but chances are very slim. If you really need raw support for the 5060, then you should investigate other products.
    Good luck,
    Roy
