Support Playbook in Germany?

Hello Friends,
I got a Playbook 64GB and a big Problem.
The USB-Connector is broken, I don't know how, but it won't charge or get connected to my PC.
Now I called the Supporthotline, and they want me to register, answer many questions and then send it back. They will analyse it and maybe send me an new one.
Are they kidding me? It's a premium product and they treat me like a suppliant!
I will send it back to Amazon and bye an Ipad3. The same price, better Support and more Applications.
Greetings and Bye

Warranty and support is only valid in the country of origin, or in the case of a device purchased in an EU country, only in an EU country.
Unless you will be visiting an Apple store in one of the EU countries before the warranty expires, you are pretty much out of luck.

    Hi,
It's a very straight forward procedure to replace the Hard Drive yourself.  Post back with the full Model No. or Part No. of your notebook.  Also, do you have your set of Recovery DVDs?

The fault is similar to when you try to connect Windows 7 to playbook - the messages are similar but there is a solution to that in the knowledge data base.
Three weeks to get playbook to work with no help is not good !!!!

  • Playbook will not boot - solid red LED for 10s

My Playbook went dead last week.  Put it on the wall charger for many hours and the thing will not boot.  Now, all I get when I plug it in to the wall charger, or computer USB cable is the LED lights up red for about 10 seconds, then nothing.
I can't find this behavior listed anywhere on any site, and of course my complimentary BB support has expired.  Help me out before I bring this brick back to the store.

Actually, the web page you need is here: http://us.blackberry.com/support/playbook-support/contact.jsp
I called, and apparently, the 90 commplentary support starts when you register your PlayBook, because I was able to get a support ticket from the friendly voice on the other end.
Also, I gathered that Blackberry would handle any warranty returns themselves (though you'd probably need a proof of purchase/reciept).
I had to run to a meeting, so I'll have to call back.  Problem not solved yet, but progress.

  • IdeaPad U160 doesn't turn on, support doesn't work either

My IdeaPad U160 just stopped working from one day to the other. Nothing special happened, I turned it off one day and in the morning there was no energy in the computer. I took the battery off and checked if the charger was working, but everything was fine. I followed the instructions that I found here on the Lenovo website to press the switch for some seconds without charger or battery and nothing happened. I did that more than 10 times.
So finally now after almost one week I contacted the support center in Germany, since there is no other way of contacting Lenovo when you have an IdeaPad. Some very missinformed person answered the phone and was of no help since he didn't tell me how to proceed with repairing the computer. He just told me that I should press the switch again for 20sec and wait for 30min, even though I told him that I had already done that. Note that my computer is still in the warranty period, but actually not for long anymore.
So now I want to know how do I proceed with the warranty service in Germany? Who can I contact?

  • Playbook displaying my photos:- washed-out, reds and greens look faded,

Hello x Im new here just got my Playbook
    Can anyone help with this.
Two weeks ago I bought a Blackberry Playbook from Simply Electronics over the internet simplyelectronics.net. The website was in english money, union jack icons plus english phone number. I phoned customer services about an issue just to check the firm out, then went ahead with my purchase and received it in four working days.
I have since found out, like many other people who ordered from them, that Simply Electronics is in some other country - I do not know if it's China or U.S.A. I would never have known if I had not looked them up on the net for reviews. They seem to have changed their website now to American dollars.
That is not the essential problem though, this is:-
The Blackberry Playbook, though superb, slick and working fine in all ways, has a problem with displayment of colour photographs. The colour is washed out, particularly reds and greens. Photos which look vibrant on my Sony Xperia phone and on my computer, look very jaded on this tablet, although the resolution and clarity is superb. It's not just the saturation that is poor. There is a colour bias.
I am a photographer and I primarily got this tablet specifically for showing photos to people (taken with my Canon SLR camera and my Sony cameraphone). It is now gutting for me to see the vibrant reds coming up as a burnt orange or browney red. Grass looks washed out and not lush as it was in the photo.
I do believe there is a fault with this Playbook.
Do you know if this is a known problem or issue with the Blackberry Playbook or with Tablets in general. Do you know what I could do about it? Do you know how I could get in touch with Blackberry to tell them about it.
Returning it to SimplyElectronics if they are in another country would be expensive and I may just get another Playbook with the same or a different fault - too much hassle.
I do not know what my best course of action would be. Can you help.
The fact I got the Blackberry Playbook for £204 postage free, is some consolation as it's a good item with no other flaws, but when I see my photos on the screen, the colour problem seems too big a deviation from normal to be satisfied with it.
What can you advise. Is this colour wash-out a common thing. How do I contact Blackberry?
    Carolyn

I don't know have this issue with pictures and images. The color rendition is superb. It is not a general fault of the Playbook.. there could be some issue with the one you have.
First, try a reset of the Playbook. Press and hold the Power key, up and down volume (-/+) all three buttons simultaneously, for about 10-12 seconds. You should the red LED blink and that should allow a reset of the PlayBook and to power up. Afterwards, do the images appear any better?

  • How to Replace Playbook Charger?

    Dear Admin,
I had brought Blackberry Playbook 16 Gb 3.5 months ago i.e. on 25 May 2012 from flipkart. From Past few days playbook charger won't work properly, I also tried to charge it via USB cable to connect it with my PC, it shows that your pc is connected with playbook but it won't charge the playbook. I am afraid to use another charger with same slot as mention in blackberry guidelines it cause serious issue for your playbook.
I had also call direct support no. 0008001007985 for further assistance. They said to register your playbook from http://in.blackberry.com/support/playbook-support/contact.jsp but when I entered the S/N it shows the following megs:
"Unfortunately, your BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet does not qualify for Complimentary Support. You can, however, get assistance using incident based support from Research In Motion."
In that case what are ways to replace my charger which I feel is malfunctioned. Or anyother way to charge my playbook. Playbook is still under 1 year warranty period.
Should I go directly to Service center in Gurgoan or Delhi?
    Thanks
    Amit Pandey

Did you let it completely discharge and then try to charge it? The PlayBook will not charge even on a working charger when completely discharged. You have to stack charge it to get it back. If the battery is too far discharged it may not come back at all.
Some have had to disassemble the device in order to charge the battery enough for the charger to work. Some searching of the Internet and this forum will bring lots of threads on how to revive your Playbook.

  • US Purchased Apple TV in Germany

I am moving to Germany and currently have Apple TV purchased in the US.  Will it work in Germany?  Does it require any different settings besides a power cord?  Will I need to change my account from US based to German based and not be able to watch US movies?
    Thanks

Thanks, that is what I figured.  Are cables easily purchased?
I also posted another question regarding our iPhones, Ipads and iPad Mini's.  Can I use them their with local data / cellular service.  Does it matter who my carrier is here?
iPhone 4s - no longer under contract period - AT&T
iPhone 5s - no longer under contract period - Verizon
    iPad2 - AT&T (no contract)
iPad Mini - not sure which carrier
Maybe you can help with these too??
I couldn't answer about the iPads, however with the iPhones, the following would apply. First, all post warranty support for the devices is only good in the US. The iPhone 4S would need to be unlocked to use in Europe. Since you have completed the contract, contact AT&T about the unlock. The Verizon 5s comes with the GSM side unlocked, but it would not support LTE in Germany. Someone else will have to answer the iPad questions. You might be better off posting in the iPad forum for answers to that, depending on where you made the post originally.

  • Defective Playbook Charger

The charger that came with my Playbook is in pretty back shape. The cord is separating from the brick and the cord has split in the middle in two places, exposing the bare wires on the inside. I'm so lost on the Blackberry website. Where do I got and who do I contact to get this addressed?

  • Australian care protection plan / warrenty is not working in Germany

    Hi,
I am a couple of month in Germany with my 4S, for which I bought a care protection plan. The iPhone is 4 month old. Now the battery is empty after 3 to 4 hours and I called the apple support hotline in Germany and also ask in an Apple store. Both told me, that they can't help me and replace it, because I bought my 4S in Australia.
I bought the care protection plan to have a cover just for this cases somewhere in the world and know its not working. Both, friendly, apple people told me, that I have to go back to Austalia to have the iPhone replace. They have been serious about that. That mean, I have to fly around the world, just to get a problem fixed?
Apple you are serious about that???
Does anyone has a solution for my problem?

The EU is treated like a single country for warranty and AppleCare purposes. That's the only place where it is so, and is forced on Apple by EU regulations. For all other countries, the iPhone is covered only in the country of original sale. Sorry, but there is no other option.
If you wish to buy something else, by all means you're free to do so. I don't care what you own. But you should confirm that "international warranty" on the Galaxy. Samsung's web site says differently, at least in the UK.
"Samsung Electronics (UK) Ltd support a product purchased in Europe if it has an EU Bloc Warranty. This warranty is present where the top of the product warranty card clearly states 'European Bloc'. If the product is purchased in another part of the globe then Samsung may attempt a repair. Samsung Electronics (UK) Ltd cannot guarantee the outcome.
so it suggests that the warranty is actually not international. I'd suggest you verify in writing that your Galaxy would indeed have an international warranty before you buy. Having a warranty on a smartphone valid only in the country of original sale is quite common, since the carriers are different in each country and hence different models of phone are often required for each.
    Regards.

  • Has RIM discontinued production of all Playbooks?

I live in the us and I can't find a single Playbook anywhere. Walmart and best buy and pretty much all the top dog retail chains are sold out. I even went as far as to check the "where to buy" section on this website and it takes me to blackberry Mexico or something.

Sure appears to be that way. All accessories are being heavily discounted. PlayBooks are not being replenished at retail stores either.
In light of BB10 launching in 1.5 days, I think we're going to soon find out if indeed RIM has (or is going to) release a new tablet (they may even call it something new). Several months ago, I posted on here an official statement from RIM stating that they were indeed discontinuing production of 16GB PlayBooks and were going to concentrate on higher capacity ones (32 and 64GB). I don't think that statement was entirely accurate however since RIM just let the existing supply dry up and the firesale of discounted tablets continued. They may have had to fulfill supply agreements with vendors and suppliers just to satisfy all parties. The LTE device which had slightly higer specifications (CPU was 1.5 GHz) appears to be killed off too as I have come across a listing that Bell (a large Canadian telecommunications company) has end of life'd the product (EOL) as of Jan 23, 2012.
Now that supply has obviously dwindled to next to nothing, the next logical steps are for RIM to (may do any or all of these) a) release a new PlayBook of sometype and specification running BB OS 10. b) Update the PlayBook LTE and Wi-Fi tablets as we know them now to BB OS 10 (which has been stated several times that they are indeed going to do this. c) Do nothing and kill off tablets altogether for the time being. I find point c) to be the most unlikely as they've officialy stated that they're very much in the tablet business and plan on supporting PlayBook users. This makes sense as the PlayBook runs QNX which is the codebase that the entire BB OS 10 platform is based upon. In fact, the PlayBook is the incubator of this operating system and OS platform. As such, it makes sense that RIM will release a new OS version for the PlayBook to satisfy their existing customer base. Alienating 2 million+ users is not a very good idea in my opinion...
Keep in mind the PlayBook is 2 years old now. It is out of date spec wise compared to the competition and due for an overhaul/update. All of this makes sense as to why the original PlayBook's are no longer being produced. Not only that, if indeed RIM is going to keep making the existing PlayBook, they will have to release it with the new BB OS 10 on it and doing that with boxed products on shelves can't be done easily. Releasing any new tablets in production will have their new OS image on them - if indeed they keep producing them.
According to a leaked internal product roadmap that has appeared on the web (and has been incredibly accurate too for the record) a new 10" tablet nicknamed BlackForest at 128 GB was due to come to marke tin Q3/ 2013.
Anyhow, we're going to more than likely get a sense of what exactly RIM's up to with regards to BB 10 and the entire PlayBook line once BB 10 officially launches here in 1.5 days.  I doubt you'll get much more info on this until then.
