I'm an SAP SD fresher. I was placed for a support project-offshore, which is going to be started by next week. Can anyone help me in knowing the types of tickets that may come from a retail industry..? just getting prepared..

How can I change Permissions for the individual users to see specific projects or all projects in project center and to see specific quick launch items?
For Example: if i have 4 users, A, B, C and D. what i want is:
User A can see everything and act as a project manager or Admin.
User B can view all projects in project centre but can change the schedule or resource assignment etc.
User C can only act as approver of projects and can view all projects in project centre.
User D can only view specific projects for which permissions are given.
can i have some expert help in sorting and understanding permission modes... as i was playing with project server mode permissions and can't figure out how to apply the above scenario to set of my user.

Actually, it will take a couple of days to explain in detail the security model that is a fundamental and tricky aspect of every PS implementation. But basically, you NEVER set permissions for a single user. You have groups in which your insert users. Groups
define "what users can do". Then you associate groups to a corresponding category. Categories define "what user can see". Thus the association of a group with a category will set "what the user can do on the objects he can see". Then, for more advanced security
level, you can use the RBS that will consist in "branches" in which you'll insert users. Based on those branches, you'll customize categories to fine-tune what user can see (for projects and resources) depending on the RBS branch and level.
I'd advice you to start "playing" in a test environment with the default categories/groups that might probably cover your need.
Concerning your 4 users:
user A : add him to the "administrator" group. Be careful that you're mentionning either project manager or administrator, which are 2 groups/categories with totally different permissions level.
user B : basically can see everything and change everything? it could be in the project manager group, assuming that there are no project visibility restrictions on the category via the RBS.
user C : waht do you mean by "approver"? Workflow approvals? Then it will be the portfolio manager group. Task update or timesheet approval? Then it is another long topic: please refer in the documentation to the "status manager" and "timesheet manager"
concepts. There are not related to the security model. In a few words, the status manager is the owner of the project plan, is defined for each task and approves tasks updates. The timesheet manager is an attribute defined for each resource in its parameters
and approves resource timesheet.
user D : you have to define which permission level must be given to this user. Basically it could be a team member that will see only projects he's in the project team. Note that team member cannot interact with the project plan in another way than submitting
timesheets and/or tasks updates which must be approved.
Once more, those are large and complex subjects that require a deep dive into your business model and tons of tests in a test environment.

Still Life project going horribly wrong. Please help!

First let me say that I am new to this board. I've been reading here and searching to see if I could find my answer, but after doing this, reading booklets and searching the internet, I still can't wrap my mind around what I need to do and what I'm doing wrong. Here goes:
I composed a Still Life in Photoshop. I took pictures from my digital camera, and uploaded them as jpeg's. (The instructions said TIFF files, but I couldn't figure out how to do it, nor would it give me the option). I cut each item (10) and placed them each on their own layer. The Still Life has to have a transparent background. Done...looks nice.
The next part is where I'm stuck. I'm to select one image element from the Photoshop component and use it as the basis for creating vector line art in Illustrator. I'm to embed the source image element using the Links panel. Can someone tell me how to do this correctly? I've tried every which way I could think of, but nothing! I know I need to place files, but I don;t have the option when I open Illustrator, so I OPEN, which doesn't work. Should the file be the original jpeg, or a native PSD?
I'm on the Cloud in Windows 8.1.
Any help I can get on this will be/is appreciated.

J2EE Engine doesn't start - Need help on this urgently

I tried all the ways to login to Visual Administrator.
I also used emergency user ID but it too falied.
I then tried to add another usr to direct dispatcher method and gave the port 8101 instead of 50004.It logged upto 95% and gave <b>"could not open connection host"
if connected through look up connection</b>
"msgserver/text/logon returned empty list of parameters" or user authentication failed.I tried all ways but failed.Please help me in this pretext by giving a solution other than reinstallation of Netweaver.
I am Using NetWeaver`04 SP14

Hi Prabhat,
Is your server up and running? It sounds like that's the main problem. If it's not up then you won't be able to login with the J2EE engine. I had some trouble with SP14 in that the database service needs to be up and running before you try to use the SAP Managment Console to start the server. Try shutting down the server, starting the windows service that corresponds to your database, and then restarting the server.

Oracle Projects, POand INV integration? need help

Dear All Project Gurus,
We are all having Oracle Purchasing , Inventory , Order Management and Project Costing modules implemented.
The issue is that
we want to place a Standard PO with Project/Task details for the
inventorisable/Stockable Items. So that the Items canbe inventoirsed i.e Received/Inspected/Delivered.
The system doesnot allow to do so.
So I want to know,
Where does this gets validated that only is the detination type in PO is as expense, the Project and Task details tab gets enabled.

The solution you are suggesting will be involved in a highly complex customization. Since you will need to cover many processes.
When you purchase items for inventory destination, without PJM, Oracle Inventory sends the receiving transaction to GL account of inventory valuation, and from Payables it sends to GL the price variances and any additional costs. If you are going to customize you might need to deal with both sources.
The customization should deal with subsequent transactions like return to vendor and correction of receiving transactions, and any debit memos or adjustments of supplier invoices.
Once the items are in Inventory, there is no functionality of reservation per project. Think about solving such requirement, including methods to track the quantities per project. This is solved by PJM.
When you issue items from Inventory to a project, standard system credits inventory valuation account and debits project cost account. However, based on your previous customization, the project was already charged when items were received. So you need also to work around this process, so the project will not be double charged, and the accounting effect will also be modified. Note, PJM knows not to transfer costs to PA when items are issued from the same project locator in Inventory.
If users transfer the items to another project, you don't have a feature to adjust costs and transfer them between projects. Note, PJM deals nicely with items transfered between projects.

Character set not supported!! DBConversion error. Need Help!

I installed JDeveloper9.2 on windows 2000. When I try to make a database server connection by using OCI8 driver, it gives me a "Character set not supported DBConversion error". After that I tried to connect database by using Thin driver, everything is OK. I really need your help.
I used database connection wizard to make the connection. Connection type I selected ORACLE(JDBC) and drive I selected OCI8. After that I tried to test connection, it gave me above error. I noticed that JDeveloper did not talked with database server at all, I tried to connect with a database server which does not exist, it still gave me the same error.

Replace the <OC4J_HOME>\jdbc\lib\classes12dms.jar with

Explanation
It seems there is a mismatch of classes12.zip supplied with OC4J 9.0.2
and the Oracle9i client libraries ocijdbc8.dll or ocijdbc8.so.
OC4J 9.0.2 does not use jdbc\lib\classes12.jar instead it uses
jdbc\lib\classes12dms.jar. So, in order to use the 9.0.1 client with OC4J, you
will need to make a copy of classes12.jar and rename it to classes12dms.jar

Going to Australia and need help with Power converters

Facts:
US uses 110v on 60hz
Australia 220v on 50hz
Making sure I understood that correctly. Devices I plan on bringing that will use power are PS3 Slim, MacBook Pro 2008 model, and WD 1TB External HDD. My DS, and Cell are charging via USB to save trouble of other cables.
Ideas I've had or thought of:
1. Get a power converter for a US Powerstrip, and then plug in my US items into the strip and then the strip into an AUS Converter into Australian outlet. Not sure if this fixes the voltage/frequency change.
2. Get power converters for all my devices. But, not sure if my devices needs ways of lowering the voltage/increasing frequency or something to help with the adjustment.
3. Buy a universal powerstrip, which is extremely costly and I wouldn't be able to have here in time (I leave Thursday). Unless Best Buy carrys one.

Check the specs on input voltage/frequency of your power supplies.
Many laptop power supplies are "universal/global" and are specced something like 80-265 volts AC 50/60 Hz, but not all. These will just need a connector adapter.
Unsure about the PS3 Slim - if it isn't universal it could be difficult as you'll need a 110/220 transformer, one big enough (power-handling wise) for the PS3 will be very bulky.
For the external WD HDD, if it doesn't have a universal supply, you're probably best off just finding a new wallwart for it that is capable of running on 220/50.

Going on a vacation, need help with SD Card Photos

I'm going on a long vacation soon, where I probably won't have access to a computer. I will, however, have wifi through hostels & cafes. I'm trying to figure out the easiest / most reliable way to backup my pictures that I will be taking with my P&S camera. It has a removable SD card. Does anyone have suggestions for products that I can use to connect the SD card to my iPhone 5, and upload to somewhere (Dropbox, Picasa, iCloud, whatever)?

The Camera Connector features a USB interface. Just plug it into the dock connector port on your iPad, then attach your digital camera or iPhone using a USB cable (not included). iPhone 3G is not supported.
Perhaps this will work.

IMovie 10.0.2/Project disappeared, not editable anymore, need HELP!?

Following problem occured on my Mac. Some days ago I created a new video with the plain/simple project template. All worked fine, I was able to upload it to Youtube and post-editing workes also fine.
So, some days later (today) I wanted to reuse the video and the projekt is not shown anymore in iMovie with the result that I cannot reuse it.
For the record:
I am still on the same library and have not changed it
The files and the event (project) definition file is still stored and available in the library package if you look into it with Finder. (Looks like projects are stored in SQLite Format)
The shared video in its MOV format is still in the library package
The source files are still stored in the package and are also available within iMovie
Any ideas to get the project back into iMovie to be able to edit/re-use it? Is there any hidden feature to rebuild iMovie libraries?

No, I did not.
Meanwhile I have found the reason for the projects disappear in my libraries! The problem is caused by using the dash "#" symbol in my project names.
I have created another project with a dash in the name and the project also disappeared in iMovie with the same effect that the underlying data was still in die library.
Apple should release a warning that some special characters are not allowed to be used in project names or better should solve this.

Another Person Failing to Get Started Needs Help

Here at OHSU we just got the necessary information to start to connect to our iTunes site. I am using the Shell script to which I have appended the .cgi extension so that my web server knows what to do with it (itunesu.cgi). I also compiled the appropriate C programs using gcc (seconds, hmac-sha256, urlencode) which are located in
/mounts/groups/rooms/usr/local/bin
I downloaded and compiled curl with the following configure options
./configure --prefix=/mounts/groups/rooms/usr/local
I then edited my itunes.cgi with my SITE_URL, DEBUG_SUFFIX, SHARED SECRET and ADMIN_CREDENTIAL that I copied on activation
I left the rest of the shell script the same as I downloaded it. I then point my browser at the script on my web browser and get the following out put with the debug

I think its looking for the hexidecimal version of that string; try putting in "0x5348415245442d5345435245542d464f522d4143434553532d54455354494e47" instead and seeing what happens.

Trying to buy single instance support for FMS from Adobe. Need help.

Hey all,
I've spent all day on the phone with Adobe trying to purchase single incident support for some server side developement questions on Flash Media Interactive Server 3.0.
So far I have not been able to find anyone at Adobe that knows how to do this. The web site says it is possible and they even give a number to call but I've talked to at least three people at that number and no one could help me. I've also talked to people in Sales, Volume license sales,and at least three different areas in technical support and no one seems to know how to get it done. Has anyone ever successfully purchased single incident support for FMS 3 and if so is there some specific number I could call to talk to someone who can make it happen.

I am answering my own question. After spending an entire afternoon on the phone being bounced around between Adobe technical support and Adobe sales, I've come to the determination that you cannot buy single incident support for Flash Media Server. At least I was never able to talk to someone at Adobe that knew if it was possible. The number on the web site where it specifically says to call for purchase of single incident support for FMS is not the correct number.

Weird...itunes 7 is really messed up! One time I plugged in my ipod and it showed up as a 2nd generation ipod! So when I unplugged it and plugged it back in it was back to normal, im guessing that should solve your problem. If my post solved, or helped your problem, please mark it accordingly. 1. MY GOAL IS : 1 DVD-R DL with MENU and CHAPTERS with 3hrs video (from FCPX).
I try this before and work: a) editing video in FCPX (first version of FCPX) 2 hrs. video and export movie.
                                        b) Open the movie in Garageband and put the chapters and send to idvd software.
                                         c) open the project make menu with chapters and burn dvd and done.
AND HERE IS THE QUESTION:   I EDITING THE MOVIE IN FCPX 10.0.4 AND Share/Media Browser......   and open in Garageband the project fron FCPX and put the chapter everything is ok there....... But when try to send to idvd not open in idvd. how can i do to make work inside the idvd?.   thanks.
