Supported Cameras

I was wondering if there was a list of video cameras that work with Apple / Firewire / iMove HD ?
I've been hunting around the Apple website and I can't quite seem to find one. I'm thinking of getting a new video camera (right now I have a Sony Hi8).
Any ideas in the under $500 range that will work with iMovie?
Thanks,
Morris

I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Elements, I keep getting the message "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. I have tried reinstalling Camera Raw many times, and have tried to open many different raw files in Elements, and still get the same error message. Please help.

How did you try to install ACR 8.8.  The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.
There are two charts supplied by Adobe that explain your RAW dilemma.  This one tells you what your camera needs:  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html   This one tells you what version of software you need:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6.  (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13.   Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter.  Download and install it from here for FREE:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5855&fileID=5890  Once it is installed you can convert your D810 raw files to an Adobe RAW version with the .DNG file extension that most, if not all, versions of the various Adobe software programs can use.  That includes old versions of Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom.  DNG converter can be used as the tool to move your files from your memory card to your computer, is efficient, will convert in batches and is completely lossless.  There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality.

  • I am using elements 8 and have installed the latest RAW plug in, however I am still getting an error message when trying to open files.  My camera (nikon d7100) shows as a supported camera.  Any suggestions?

The plug in version is 6.2.0.29, which shows that is supports my camera.

    Hi Sully172,
    Please check the below link
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
It clearly states that D7100 requires a minimum camera raw version of 7.4
I would advise you to either use the camera raw dng converter or upgrade to Photoshop Elements 13.
    Thanks

  • Get an Error window, The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files

I am using CS2 and it would not open up my latest RAW files, I was getting a warning Could not complete your request because it is not the right kinds of document. So, I checked the Camera Raw Plug-in and it says Version 3.7. I see that my camera an Olympus E-20 is supported. But it is not opening the Raw files, the day before I took jpeg and they have opened. I will not trash my Adobe Photoshop CS2 because it was a royal pain to install and I don't know where the CD is.
I installed the latest DNG Converter and when I try to open up the folder which has all the RAW images that didn't open in Adobe, I still get an Error window that says, "The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files." Why? It says it supports my Olympus E-20. I actually have the E-20n, I don't think that is the problem. My RAW icons usually show up as small image thumbnails and this time they are gray icons only with the incorrect date under the icon. Is there another product I can use without spending money? These images I took in RAW were special and I don't want to lose them. Please help!
    Esther

Hello, I was using only CS2 with my Olympus E-20n for 5 years, no problem. It just started acting up in RAW this year. I downloaded Picasa that same day and now it seems to be opening up all of my RAW files that didn't open the other day. So, I think Picasa installed a new plug-in adaption to CS2 because now all my RAW icons have a new logo on them, the same one that's in Picasa. Strange, but it works now and I am not complaining anymore. I love CS2 and the many ways I can adjust RAW files, so I am using it, Picasa is a sideline now that I can take a look at many thumbnails and it organized all my photo files by the year and folders. Amazing free software. I have probably 60,000 images in my computer and an external hard drive and Picasa picked them all up and made a library, cool.

  • Camera Raw - will not open raw files from a supported camera

does anyone know a solution for camera raw to recognize my raw files, I just upgraded to cs6 and it is a supported camera. I've updated and it still won't work any solutions?

I should have asked which OS version do you have on the Mac?  The current ACR plug-in requires 10.7 or newer and if you’re still on 10.6.x then the updater might not do anything because your OS is too old.
The first thing to try is Help / Updates and see if there is a newer version.
If that doesn’t work, then you can manually install ACR 8.3, the last version compatible with OS X 10.6.x, from here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/camera-raw-84-support-policy.html
And if your OS is new enough, then you can install whatever the latest version (currently ACR 8.7.1) from here:

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • I have just purchased the new Canon 7D II.  I am using CS6 and Lightroom 5.0, neither of which can open the RAW files although I see from the list of supported cameras that the 7D II is covered.  I have updated both CS6 and LR so that is not the problem.

It has been indicated that both of those cameras will be supported in the final release of Camera Raw 8.7. But there is no announced release date. There never is. I assume it will be before December 31. But that is only my guess based on the fact that the release candidate expires then.

  • Will Photoshop 13 support camera raw for Nikon D 810?

    Yes according to this list:

Elements 13 can be updated to ACR 9 from the menu Help/Updates. The D810 requires only ACR 8.6.

  • Does elements 8 support camera raw?

I am debating whether to upgrade my cs3 photoshop to cs4 or to purchase the less expensive elements 8. My biggest concern is whether or not elements 8 supports camera raw and does it have the same tools within camera raw that cs4 has. I really do not want to break the bank on photoshop cs4 or 5, but don't want to spend the money on elements to later realize that I may want more out of it. I am just a photo enthusiast right now, but plan on expanding my hobby in the near future.

    Hi,
Yes, you would have Camera RAW in PSE 8 with all basic edits. Some options would not be available which are there in Photoshop howver.
You can try using a trial version of Elements 8 to decide if the options are of good use to you.

  • IMessage and FaceTime not working on Mac Pro and message stating to contact Support came on

iMessage and FaceTime not working on Mac Pro and a message stating to contact Support came on with a verification code.  It was working on 8/29 but stopped on 8/30.  When I called support to even speak with anyone they wanted $19.  I don't want to pay $19 for an Apple problem.  I cleared my key chain, also reset my apple ID password but still not working.  Works fine on my iPhone.

There is no official public documentation of that error message as far as I know, but according to reports, it can mean (at least sometimes) that the same Apple ID is being used with the iTunes Store or one of the other Apple content stores, and the payment method is invalid. Sign in to the store and review your account. You do not, of course, have to provide any billing information to set up an account to use only with iMessage, as it's a free service.
Otherwise, do what the error message tells you to do. According to reports, you won't be charged for the call if you select "Apple ID" as the product you need support for, and cite the customer code in the alert as the "validation code" to the support representative.

  • How do find the list of Supported Cameras raw files for Elements 12

Where can you find the list of cameras that are supported by photoshop Elements 12  raw processing?

    Hi R Kelly,
I tried to follow your directions for marking your answer as correct….. but I could not locate the “Correct” under the box where your answer appeared.  I tried clicking on the green icons to the right of the page but I could not get the “not answered” phrase to change to “Correct answer”.   I have not used this forum before and have no clue how it functions….  sorry

  • Updating Supported Cameras?

How often does Apple update the supported cameras list? As near as I can tell they posted it when FCE came out, and then never again. I've been looking for a HD consumer level camcorder and the Sony HDR-HC1 is the best price/feature one but it's not listed

There is an updated FCE 3(HD) list at:
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutexpress/qualification.html.
It might give you an error before downloading a "FinalCutExpress3.0Qualified.pdf " document.
I see that the HDR-HC1 is listed.

  • Supported camera final cut pro6

For FCP 1,2,3,4 and 7 I can find supported camera's.
    But I can't find a list with supported camera's for FCP6.
Where can I find these list?

Not sure there is one.  But anything compatible with 4 should still work.  The only thing I know they added in fcp7 was compatibility with avchd cameras like the panasonic hmc150.  I used to have to use my laptop (intel) to transcode material from the hmc150 to use on my tower (g5) before I got a new tower a year and a half ago.
I'd use the fcp7 list and then post a question about any specific camera you're considering regarding fcp6 compatibility here and maybe on creative cow.  if it's not listed for fcp7, it's almost deflnitely not going to work in fcp6.
And remember that there are 3rd party utilities like magic bullet grinder and clipwrap that you can use to transcode or simply rewrap material that's not immediately compatible with fcp6.
