Supported document attachments not opening on Pre Plus

Forgive me if I am doing something wrong, but I cannot get files supported by Doc View to open from an email attachment.  From what I have read Power Point files are supported but when I click on an attached file in a mail message, I get a message saying "Cannot find an application which can open this file."
Am I missing something or is this an undocumented feature in the 1.4 update?
Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.
This question was solved.

Hold the phone....Looks like attachment was a PowerPoint slideshow (PPS) which I am guessing is not supported.  I just sent a PPTX file to the device and it opened properly in Doc View.
My apologies for a newb mistake....

using office outlook under parallel desktop double click on an Excel attachement does not open the document in Excel.
double-click opens Excel Office 2011 for mac without the document.
It should open the document in Excel 2010 for Windows.

In Parralells, choose the file you want to open.
Right Click on it and choose Properties.
In the General Tab you will see "Opens with:"
Click the "Change ... " button.
Then choose Excel 2010. The checkbox below should be set to "Always use ... "

  • Help please I can not openening because: Error opening the document,  Acrobat can not open the file while printing another document

Help, I ca not opening the file, beacause the mac says Error opening the document, Acrobat can not open the while printing another document

Thank you very much for your replies Taggert_77 & swmtgoet_x :D
Taggert77_: I have never used NetBeans. I only installed it in the bundle as I had read on another post that somehow installing the bundle magically helped another user with the same problem (he didn't know why it worked after that either).
Before XP SP3 I was able to execute .jar file through cmd prompt. Now I am not.
This file is executable, grab it and you will see. Here is a screen shot (program in front is FlashFXP, behind is the cmd prompt and what should happen):http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/53273b4ddf.jpg
swmtgoetx_: I only did the other cmd's to try to make it spit out something, anything lol :D
The proper cmd is simply: java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
I did give your cmd a try, and it produced nothing :( (just like the other correct cmds)
    java -client -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar soht.properties
    Thank you again...the mystery remains
PS. If you do a search for this you'll find an amazing amount of XP SP3 users with the same problem and no solution posted that I could find except one chap that did the unistall install order that I did above).

  • PDF e-mail attachment will not open after FF update

    FF 31 and/or 32
    Outlook or GroupWise fat client
    PDF attachments
After FF updated PDF's were re-associated with FF not the installed PDF program. Used Windows to re associate PDF's to PDF program. No problem, all PDF's open in PDF program UNLESS the PDF is an attachment in an e-mail.
Open e-mail fat client (doesn't matter the client) try and open the PDF and user gets message stating there is no program associated with attachment. Yet, all PDF's still open with correct PDF program as long as they are not in the e-mail. Now here's the really weird part.....
If there are two or more PDF's attachments in the same e-mail the first one will not open but the second, thirds, etc attached PDF's will open with the correct PDF program.
The only temporary solution I have found is to uninstall FF, re-install it and for a 1/2 day the issue goes away. I have not figured out the trigger that resets the issue.
FF is my go-to browser, but since v 31 this has been happening and if it keeps up, I'm switching to Chrome.
Come on Tech Support, help us out with this issue.

Sorry you're having this problem. I think it was previously reported only by Windows XP users.
When you reinstall, were you making Firefox your default browser? Some users have reported that ''not'' making Firefox the default browser was an effective workaround.
However, you may have success with this approach, suggested by a user in another thread, which appears to more thoroughly update the Windows registry:
    # Open Adobe Reader / Acrobat
    # Edit->Preferences
    # In the Categories column click 'General'
    # Near the bottom of the page click the button marked 'Select Default PDF Handler'
    # In the dialog, select 'Adobe Reader XI' (or Adobe Acrobat, as the case may be) and click 'Apply'
    # A Windows Configuration screen will appear. Allow it to do its stuff (takes a few minutes), then restart your computer when prompted.
Does that resolve the issue for you?

  • PDF attachment does not open

I have a Samsung i760 with Verizon Wireless. I am running Windows Mobile 6 Professional. I have installed Adobe Reader PPC 2.0, and the Reader application itself appears to work fine (appears in my Program list, I can open the program, etc.). I have my work e-mail (from an Exchange server)pushing to my phone, and my e-mail has been working fine. Every day, I receive a report via e-mail with a .pdf document attached. When I open this e-mail, and click on the .pdf attachment, it says "Downloading..." on the bottom of my screen, but the file never finishes downloading or opens up. The file is only "(12K)" according to the e-mail, so it should download fairly quickly, and then Adobe Reader should open up and display the file. Any ideas why this does not happen? It just says "Downloading" forever until I manually stop the download. Thanks.

    Hey there,
Same I experienced the same problem, hopefully someone can help up...

  • Iwork documents in iCloud not opening on iPad nor on Mac after stopping syncing

When I upgraded to IOS5 I activated icloud support for iwork documents. After some problems I switched off syncing to icloud answering please keep my documents on iPad.
Now I have the following situation for all older documents
On iPad the Documents are just an icon (pages for example) or are shown as a preview but in neither case they load. There is a rotating "please wait" but it never succeeds or just stops without opening any document.
On Mac a similar situation with slightly different appearance. Sometimes it says just
    * Document not available, try later, sometimes
    * Open your document on iDevice before opening in Mac
So I am locked. The document appear on the iCloud-Website seen from my Mac but do not open. Neither do they open on my iPad. They are shown as icon previews (in most cases) but cannot be opened or sent by email etc.
Where are they? Are they anywhere? Can I get them by some magic other methods??
    TIA for answers.

Disregard.  It apparently took about 15 minutes for the sync to occur and now I'm seeing my iCloud documents on my iPad.

  • All my pdf documents have turned into firefox html documents and will not open correctly

All my pdf documents have suddenly become firefox html docs & will not open unless I go into the folder, right click, 'open with', etc. I haven't changed any of my settings. I think firefox did an update yesterday, however, so I'm connecting it with that, possibly...

    Try this:
    # Right click your PDFs, click Properties
    # Go to the General tab
    # In the '''Opens with''' section, click the ''Change'' button
    # Select Adobe Reader (or Foxit Reader/Whatever PDF viewer you use)
    # Click Apply then OK.
    Does it work then?

    Hi.
    Try following sample code:
Include cmfn tag library in your page
    xmlns:cmfn="http://xmlns.oracle.com/webcenter/content/functions"
Use next EL Expression to get a Node url's (are the same methods as a Node in CP):
    #{cmfn:getNodeById(yourdDocName).url.downloadUrl
    #{cmfn:getNodeById(yourdDocName).url.renderUrl
    Sample:
    <af:goLink targetFrame="_blank" destination="#{cmfn:getNodeById('UCM676546').url.downloadUrl}"/>
You'll need connection to UCM configured in your WebCenter Portal Application because it will ask for the current IDC connection configured.
    Regards.

  • Need help with PAGES in the document file will not open

Hi if anyone can help me I woud appreciate it-
I downlaoded awhile back the new software X and eveything was fine till I tried to open some documents (pages) and it will NOT OPEN a window pops up a newer version is available but when I go in there are NO UPDATES and I really do not think I need to buy a newer version do I?
    Please Help

When you installed the latest version of Pages (and other iWork apps), the older versions were saved in a folder named "iWorks '09" in the Applications folder. You're trying to open a document that was saved in Pages 5 or in Pages for iOS using the older version of Pages. What you probably need to do is remove the Dock icon and drag Pages 5 into the Dock.

  • Audio attachment will not open and play on Ipad4 but works fine on PC. Any suggestions?

I have been sent an audio attachment in an email to a Hotmail account. It opens and plays fine on my PC but will not open on my Ipad. I get a pop up wanting to forward the attachment from my Comcast email account but neither will open and play it. Any suggestions?

I kept looking and found this answer in an Ipad forum from IpadJunkie. "Try the OPlayerHD lite app...free. When pressing and holding the WMA attachment select open with OPlayer and it works fine."

  • Attachment will not open

I cannot get my MacBook Pro (Maverick) to open attachments.  When I click on the attachment numbers, it opens and asks me to choose the application to open this attachment.  In the case of the attachment I'm trying to open now, it is a spreadsheet, it is sent from another mac, and both of our number app.  are updated. I would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thank you

Try: save attachment to Desktop, select file and ⌘I and then click the Opens With dropdown and select Numbers
You can also option-click the file and select Opens With... then select Numbers

Sounds like the PDF's are being created by Wordperfect. You'll want to find a forum for that application.

  • Email attachment are not opened regardless of source or app used for opening

This topic is bothering so much that I may have to decide to go windows of android. Which is almost the last thing on earth I would like to do.
At home I work with an iMac. We have 4 ipads ranging from 2 to retina big and small and we have 3 iPhones.5 and newer.
every thing within the Mac / iOS communication works ok as long as you do not receive microsoft office content or pdf's on your iOS apparatus because they simply do not open.
Over the last year I have reported this issue 2 times to apple, even higher up in the service chain, however without success. I have tried everything proposed in fora and help desks of many kind but the solution is not coming. Apparently I am in 2014 one of the few ringing this bell.
Factory reset, piece for piece re installment of apps shows no result other 1 day positive results but thereafter without adding further apps again no correct receipt. Changing the preset for outgoing email at outlook on work of has not altered things. The same applies to various colleagues.
Honestly speaking this cannot be the purpose of Apple : frustrating the communication with the most used business software in the world: office and acrobat.
if I was retired enjoying my grandchildren and other family and friends i would probably not bother. I work hard, travel a lot and my iPhone and iPads receive no attachments from clients, colleagues etc. if no solution is found in the next coming months desktop will become windows only, laptop will be windows surface 2 and phone, not sure yet, perhaps also a microsoft apparatus, to get rid of my work related communication problems.
this is a last cry for help.
hope someone out there is my little helper to get me through my busy days,
mother please, no more of this, outside the door, there is much more. What a drag it is getting on.

    Robert,
I have a gmail account. But no android phone. When I am traveling all my email traffic comes in via apple email. Gmail does not accept exchange boxes.
A solution might be to set my exchange boxes at work to retransmit every thing to gmail and then open it on gmail, but I want apple to take this problem serious. They are loosing frustrated apple adepts.
Sanebox might be a solution. I will give a try.
    Thank you,
    Ton
