Supported lens corrections profile not listed in Lightroom 3.2

I have installed the Lightroom 3.2 update, which lists support for the "Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II" lens.  I've shot a number of photos with this lens (using a Canon T1i) and loaded them into Lightroom.  In the metadata for the photos, the lens appears as "EF50mm f/1.8 II".
Within Lightroom's "Lens Corrections" section, the "Auto" option reports "Unable to locate a matching profile automatically."  I've manually searched the list of Canon lenses, and it's not on the list.
In the folder
     /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Canon/
I see a file corresponding to this lens
     Canon EOS 5D Mark II (Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II) - RAW.lcp
but it's listed with only the one specific body.
I've tried manually installing the Camera Raw 6.2 update, but it reports "Update is not applicable."  Given the file listed above, I suspect it was already installed.
In the release notes, which listed Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens, it didn't mention that support was limited to only a certain camera body.  Could someone please help me?  Thanks!

My assumption that I should be able to find the lens within Lightroom came from the release notes at
  http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2010/08/lightroom-3-2-and-came ra-raw-6-2-now-available.html
rather than the filename of the profile that I found.  As far as I can see, the release notes don't specify that it only applies to raw images.
I agree that the release notes could have been a clearer in terms of what was provided. I can also appreciate why the profiles for JPEG were not included, namely time constraints.
After converting the original raw images to JPEG it would have taken an hour or so to run the calibration images for these "new" profiles through the lens profile creator application. Following a number of requests I did this myself for the dozen or so profiles that I had already uploaded to the Adobe lens profile server. That was a days work for me, for the Adobe engineer(s) working on all of the new profiles it would  probably have taken a fair number of days/weeks.

  • Adobe Camera Raw - lens correction profiles not found

I use Photoshop CC as part of the photography program of Creative Cloud. My platform is a Mac Book Pro (2013) with the latest Mac OS-X operating system. I have also installed Bridge CC and Lightroom 5.
Since about three weeks (maybe after an update but I'm not sure on that) Adobe Camera Raw's lens correction feature fails permanently. With older pictures (taken long before the error occured for the first time) as well as with new photos and with dng files as well as with cr2 files the ACR dialog always shows the error message (lens correction profile can't be found - since I have the German version of Photoshop this is how I would translate the error message). I didn't install or uninstall any programs, plugins etc. around the time of the first occurance of the error.
I already uninstalled Photoshop CC completely (using the uninstall function in the programs folder) and reinstalled it via Creative Cloud but it still shows the same error.
    What can I do?

Hello, you can make sure the latest version is installed by going to help-updates.
Also, make sure that you are running the latest version of the creative cloud application, as it fixes a permission problem that might cause the issue you are facing. Just go to the creative cloud application on your menu bar, and restart it.

  • NEX 7 Firmware update - NEX 7 lens correction profiles gone

I've applied the NEX 7 Firmware update and now I can't see lens correction profile for SEL1855 in Lightroom 4. I'm pretty sure this used to work automatically, and I can see the correct lens in the image metadata e 18-55 f3.5-5.6 OSS) Does anyone know what has happened, and how to resolve the problem?

Ah. Feel a bit stupid. I switched from RAW to JPEG and forgot to switch back.

  • Lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ?

How or where can I get the lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ? In effect he is not available in my list of correction lens so my lightroom is up to date apparently :/
    Thanks in advance for answer.

There are two types of Lens profiles - raw and JPEG. It looks like you are trying to process a JPEG image and Adobe has only provided a raw lens profile for the 18-135mm IS STM lens.
    You have four options:
    1) Check for available lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. I checked and a JPEG lens profile is NOT available for the 18-135mm lens.
    2) Follow the procedure outlined by Steve Sprengel in this post:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lr_5_lens_profile_not_applied_for_jp g_captures_only_for_raw_captures
More detailed instructions here for a Pentax lens example:
    http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-processing-articles/176761-creating-adobe-lens-cor rection-profiles-jpgs-raw-ones.html
This allows using the available raw lens profile with JPEG images. To my knowledge Canon DSLR cameras do not apply distortion correction to JPEG images, so the raw profile should work well. You can check this by shooting raw+JPEG and comparing the two images inside LR
    3) Create you own lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator. (A complicated process, but it can be done!).
    4) Start shooting in raw mode or raw + JPEG mode, which will allow you to extract the most benefit from LR's processing controls.

    Yes redkaz,
If you go to the main lightroom forum page, on the right hand side, there is a Resources section.
Press "submit a feature request or bug report". There you can submit a feature request, and vote up others.

  • Lens correction profiles LR3.4 Mac

    I use a mac.
    I shoot raw.
I created lens correction profiles for my camera and a few lenses.  I uploaded them to Adobe.  The lens corrections show up in Adobe Camera Raw  but not in Lightroom.  ACR "looks" for the .lcp files in the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Camera Raw/Lens Profiles/1.0
Where does Lightroom look for the .lcp files?  Or does it use them a all?  There is a large list of supported lenses in the dropdown menu, just not the ones I created.

QUOTING:   There is a second Lens Profiles Default folder as well.
Where is this elusive second folder?  I put copies of the profile in the /Downloaded folder as wel, but Lightroom still doesn't see them.

  • Adding lens correction profiles to Photoshop

I am having difficulty adding lens correction profiles for my Sony A7R camera to Photoshop and LIghtroom. I have obtained some *.lcp files for a given lens in RAW, and have tried adding them to to the following folders but without success (i.e., the lens profile still does not appear):
    Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.4/Resources/LensProfiles/1.0/Sony
    Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.4/Resources/LensProfiles/1.0/Sony/Downloaded
    ProgramData/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Sony
    ProgramData/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Sony/Downloaded
    Users/MyName/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0
    Users/MyName/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Downloaded
The reason I've added the *.lcp file to so many folders is because various internet searches have suggested each one of these as a repository for the *.lcp file.
I'm now thinking that the Index.dat file in the LensProfiles folder may need rebuilding, and supposedly renaming that folder and restarting either PS or LR will recreate that file. However, that has not worked for me, and what happens is that I get an extremely abbreviated list of available profiles. What is the current, proper way to add lens profiles to Photoshop CS6, CC or LightRoom 5.4, all being 64 bit versions running on a PC under Windows 7 64 Bit?

User lens profiles in program folders will be ignored, so the first four you list, starting with Program Files and ProgramData are only for Adobe-supplied profiles for the particular version of product you're using.  There are .lcp files in those program folders, the ones without Downloaded in the path, anyway, but they have to be Adobe profiles.  Each version of Camera Raw and Lightroom knows exactly what profiles to expect and will ignore any others.  A few years ago that was not the case, but it is, now.
The last path, beginning with Users and ending with Downloaded is where user-supplied .lcp files should go.
If you want to zip up a profile and a raw file you feel goes with it, and upload to http://www.dropbox.com and share a public download link, here, then maybe others can verify if those profiles work for them or not.

  • Lens Correction profiles vs. lens filters

    Hi again everybody!
Does anyone have experiece with how the use of filters (circular polarizers in particular) affects Chromatic Aberration and Vignetting?
I'm sure it does, but I was wondering if that's something you could pre-set using lens corrections profiles in Lightroom?
    Cheers
    Tom

... I was wondering if that's something you could pre-set using lens corrections profiles in Lightroom?
You can move the sliders to set a higher value and "Save defaults for lens" in the list above. The new values will be used by default on new photos shot with the same lens. That could help, but of course, filters may introduce a more complicated pattern, than just amplifying the flaws of a bare lens.

  • Lens Correction Profiles: Unable to locate matching profiles automatically

In LR3, I can't seem to load the auto lens correction profiles for my Canon lenses, many of which should be readily available. I used the 24-70L 2.8 USM lens and the 50mm 1.4 lenses on a recent shoot and the profiles can't be found. Is there a place to download the stock LR3 profiles to enable this option? I'm not that interested in making custom profiles at this time.
    Here's what I'm seeing:
    Thanks for any help.

The lens profiles coming from Adobe should be installed automatically when installing LR, no need to install them seperately. You can check for files named
    Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 L USM) - RAW.lcp
    Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 L USM).lcp
    Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM) - RAW.lcp
    Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III (Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM).lcp
    in the folder
    WinXP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Canon
    WinVista or 7:
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Canon
    Mac:
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Canon
These are the profiles provided by Adobe for the lenses you mention. If they are there, something seems to be wrong in LR recognizing your lens. If they're not, try reinstalling LR3.

  • Is there a lens correction profile for Nikon D3100 18-55mm?

Is there a lens correction profile for Nikon D3100 18-55mm? I so don't know what I'm doing

The only profile I could see is a profile for the 18 - 55 mm for the D300.
As far as I know the sensor size is identical for the D3100 and D300, so you can use this this profile.
If the profile is not installed in the list of your Lr, you have to download it. In order to download it you have to download and install the Adobe lens profile installer first.
And before you can install the lens profile downloader, you need to download and install Adobe Air.
These two programs are for free and can be downloaded from Adobe's website.
Nothing is ever easy, is it?
