Supported LTE bands vs networks

As you may have noticed, iPad Air 2 supports virtually all LTE bands, available on iPhone 6 and below - and yet, it does not support some LTE networks that work fine on iPhone 6, 5S and 5C (China Unicom being such); similar story with iPad Air (A1475). Having approved the network for iPhone but not iPad seems odd on Apple's behalf, and I'm wondering if that may change via future firmware updates. Thanks for your time; any feedback is welcome!

  • Why does not my iPhone 5S work on LTE of Plus GSM network in Poland although my model supports LTE Band 3?

am My iPhone 5S does not support LTE of the Plus GSM network in Poland? It works in Band 3 and my model supports that band but it is not possible to use LTE although it works on my other Android phone. The network operator suggested contacting Apple.

Thank yo Tim, but actually I beg to disagree with you about that I chose to use the wrong carrier. But I have not given all details of the story:
When I was buying the iPhone at an Apple store in the US I explicitly asked whether LTE would work on my network in Poland, which uses LTE Band 3. She was very nice and checked something in the specifications and said that the model I would buy supports this band so that everything would be fine.
Unfortunately back in the country it turns out it does not work not and I expect Apple to take a stand on that. I have already filed a complaint on Apple helpline. I hope they will solve the problem...

  • Lte bands supported by iPhone 6 GSM from USA

    Hello all,
I live in Norway and my brother goes to school in USA.
I was planning to get him to buy me an iPhone 6 but i worry if the USA GSM iPhone 6 support the LTE bands in Norway.
I know this was an issue with iPhone 5 and 5S.
In Norway we, for the most part, use band 3, 7 and 20.
So my question is does the iPhone 6 GSM sold in USA support LTE bands 3, 7 and/or 20?

The going rate at applestore in Norway (with todays exchange rate) for the base 6 with 64GB is $1043 so there is a substancial amount to be saved, close to $300.
Yes, I know. We had an exchange student from Rena Norway last. She bought an iPhone 5s before she left because of the substantial cost difference. LTE was not an issue as she was mostly using WIFI on her phone.
I am traveling to Norway during December of this year. It will be my second trip having visited Oslo and Rena on my last trip. I was there during Norway's independence celebration. Had front row seats at the palace in Oslo for the parade. Really enjoyed the clothing. Also experienced Kippers and three different kinds of Caviar. For one of the meals I was greeted with reindeer and it was really quite good.
When I travel to Europe I use my iPhone 5 and just get a sim when I arrive. Never had a problem. No LTE data but for my needs the slower 3G worked fine.

  • LTE Band 12 support on Lumia 640 series devices

T-Mobile USA recently began to offer service on LTE Band 12.  Many of its newer devices support Band 12.   I have been reviewing the specifications for the new Lumia 640 devices, and am very surprised to notice that the "LTE Dual SIM" versions of the 640 support Band 12, but the non-dual-SIM version -- i.e., the model that T-Mobile USA itself will be selling -- does NOT list Band 12 support.
I'm hoping that the device actually does have the hardware to support that band and that the reason it's not being listed is for regulatory reasons.   If that was the case, then presumably the capability could be enabled by a software update at a later time.
Band 12 support is something I am looking for in my next phone and this will impact my purchasing decisions.   So with this all in mind, a few questions:
    1.  Does the T-Mobile version of the phone have the hardware capability to eventually support Band 12?
    2.  Will the dual SIM LTE version of the 640 work on T-Mobile's band 12?

Models sold in the US often have different hardware than those sold elsewhere in the world because US networks have a habit of doing things their own way in complete deference to the rest of the world. The only other country that has its own hardware variants these days is China.
You will have to check with T-Mobile if their variant has any different hardware than other US variants because the specs on the Microsoft web site are not likely to show it.
Band 12 is not T-Mobile's, it is the same Band 12 that every other network uses, if you can get a model which supports that band then it will work.

  • Please Add LTE Band 12 Support for better connection

I was deeply disappointed to find the recent 5.1.1 release of Android didn't include adding Band 12 support to the Z3C! The Sony representative I spoke to in March said the phone had the radio to be able to connect via Band 12 and just needed to be enabled in the software. Recently you enabled Band 12 for the Z3 (http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/06/03/t-mobile-updates-its-xperia-z3-to-lollipop-throws-in-band-12-lte-support-for-good-measure/) so you clearly have the software to do this already, please please please add it to the Z3C software!!! • In Russia, the operator MTS (Mobile TeleSystems) launched LTE band 5 (850 MHz)

    Good day!
In Russia, the operator MTS (Mobile TeleSystems) launched LTE band 5 (850 MHz), but I can not use LTE, as my iPhone 5 is not connected to the LTE network! NO SUPPORT! At my rate has access 4G and on the other phone with LTE 850 MHz all works, and in an iPhone 5 does not work! Create an update for MTS in Russia! You need to change the version of the operator with 14.0 and change something in the software!

I don't read Russian, but Beeline, at least, seem to be prominently advertising and selling the iPhone still:
    http://iphone.beeline.ru/5/start/index.wbp
so unless there's a note on their site stating that they're going to stop, the reports that all Russian carriers have dropped the iPhone would seem to be incorrect or at least premature.

  • What are AT&T's 4G LTE bands?

I am considering buying a new phone that supports FDD-LTE 1800/2100/2600MHz and TD-LTE B38/39/40/41. Could it work on AT&T LTE network
    [Subject edited for better exposure]

Thanks GLIMMERMAN76 for your reply. When I looked at the specs again, I missed some vital information. Here is the correct specs: NETWORK LTE Band 13/4 (700/1700 MHz), CDMA/1xEVDO Rev. A (800/1900 MHz) GLOBAL NETWORK EDGE/GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), HSPA/UMTS(850/900/1900/2100 MHz) Now, if I port my phone/number to AT&T, Would it work fine with all features? I am asking this questions as now all the new phones come with inbuilt GSM.

  • LENOVO VIBE Z2 K920 - Chinese vs International - LTE BANDS / FREQUENCIES

I have two questions regarding the differences between the Chinese market version of the VIBE Z2 K920 and the international version of the phone. Do the two versions operate on different frequencies? My main concern is the LTE bands and whether there is any benefit to buying the international version over the Chinese version. My carrier operates on LTE bands 7 (700 MHz), 4 (1700 MHz), & 4 (1700 MHz). Are there any hardware differences between the two versions or is the only difference the lack of Google Apps and less language options in the Chinese market version? Thanks!

Here is another site that claims both FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE support but they mention that FDD-LTE must first be activated. Attention Please:
Lenovo K920 Vibe X2 Smartphone is compatible with both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE; and it needs to be activated first before supporting FDD-LTE network .

    2: Setting~Wireless & Networks~Mobile Networks~Service~FDD/TD/WCDMA/GSM for choice http://www.pandawill.com/lenovo-vibe-z2-pro-k920-smartphone-snapdragon-801-quad-core-60-inch-3gb-32gb-grey-p94158.html

  • IPhone on 800MHz LTE band. When (if ever)?

The current iPhone 5 does not support the 800MHz LTE band that is used a lot in Europe. Since Apple never announces anything, I wonder if I should buy an iPhone now or wait until I am certain that it will work with local LTE in the future.
So my question, is the fact that the iPhone 5 does not support the 800MHz band a matter of software or hardware? Is it something the chip in the iPhone cannot do at all, or is it something Apple could enable later on?

    frequencies is always hardware based
and apple may never support the 800Mhz LTE
the world seems to be getting infected with the fragmentation of the American
    phone network
1/2 the operators where I live support LTE on the frequencies apple support the other half don't
so even in europe carriers seem to start using different frequencies
this was not the case with 3g in my country

  • Does Lumia 930 support LTE in India?

    I checked the specs of Lumia 930 @ http://www.nokia.com/in-en/phones/phone/lumia930/specifications/
It doesn't show LTE in Data Network support.
But, LTE support is mentioned in Nokia global website @ http://www.nokia.com/global/products/phone/lumia930/specifications/
    I am confused ...
Are there two versions (LTE and non-LTE) of Lumia 930?
Does Indian version of Lumia 930 support LTE?

As per the band frequency , I think handset should have LTE 2300 for working LTE connection in India and i think Lumia 930 India specifications doesnt have it.
Currently India has very less 4G/LTE ,though its rolling out in varying parts of the country. So if possible by software update it can be enabled but for now i think NO. Also I am not sure whether this can be enabled by a software update.

  • Iphone 6 plus LTE band problem

I'm from Malaysia and I will be going to U.S for business trip and intend to order 1 iphone 6 plus from U.S apple online store (Contract Free from T-Mobile) and ship to the hotel I will be stay. May I know once I go back to Malaysia, it can use under my country (Malaysia)? Does the LTE band can be support under Malaysia? Thank you.

I have this issue too. The iPhone 6 plus connects to wifi everywhere but home. It can see the network and identify it, but I do not get any connection. My laptop, iPad, and spouse's iPhone all connect to the network with no problem. The 6+ has never been able to connect at home, even though I have reset network settings a countless number of times. The latest iOS still has not addressed this problem. AND I have issues updating at home because I need a wifi connection to update the software!!!!! What can I do Apple? Trade my phone in? It seems to be a software issue. Also, some apps do not display properly (Finding Rover app on the 6+ shows only 4 buttons at the bottom of the app screen, but on the iPhone 6 and iPad there are 5 buttons.) Help!

  • When the update to support LTE will be released for Claro in the Dominican Republic?

Claro in the Dominican Republic has launched LTE (since yesterday) and proceeded to sell or give the 4G LTE Sim cards so the users can have the service. I went over, got my new sim card and inserted in my Iphone 5 (A1428), and said to my self "I'm good to go". Turns out I wasn't. Unfortunately, I could not get it working. I even moved around the city to see where I could get 4G coverage.
When I called customer service to argue about the lack of coverage and to discuss that this may be a scam from the company. The customer service person told me to go to settings>cellular> to toggle Enable LTE, and I replied that I did not have that option. Then the customer service clerk argued that I did not have an updated Device. My iphone 5 IOS version is 7.1.2.
After doing some research while on the phone with the customer service representative (it was a 45 min long call) I had to agree with him that maybe apple has to "released" or "enabled"  the service for this specific carrier, just like it happened in Colombia when the LTE was introduced.
Currently there are 3 companies (Tricom, Orange, and now Claro) offering 4G LTE in the Dominican Republic and None are listed in the 4G LTE availability per device per country according to apple.  https://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/.
So my question is: When the update to support LTE will be released for Claro in the Dominican Republic? (it would be great if an apple employee could get involve in this thread, or escalated it to who can do something about it.)

    FelipeV
Let me tell you something: no one is saying go and do something illegal to enable this feature on your phone and no one is reporting any confidential information; the purpose of this thread is to clarify some points:
The LTE Network for Claro DO is real, is functional and is not a Scam
The LTE Network works with compatible devices except iPhones, not by decision of the carrier but the manufacturer.
About that the date that when will be available is not a confirmed date, it's an estimate based on previous releases in other countries and information that I received from inside Claro, not a speculation (find the definition). Of course Claro hasn't confirmed because, like other says, is apple decisions and not their (you don't have to be a genius to figure that out).
Forums are to express yourself freely about a specific topic, and to give your point of view whether you agree or disagree with something, but when you do be polite and do it with respect and not with arrogance as you just did hinting others are stupid and do not know what they are doing. Take an advice from some one with a little bit of experience, you don't know when you will need some help.
    Have a good night.

  • Is the ipad 4 sprint version (or any) supporting lte in europe?

So i see that the band 1,3 and 5 are supported by the ipad 4 sprint version, so does this mean we can use lte in europe when purchased that model?

Well this is the coverage of 4 g - http://cdn2.spiegel.de/images/image-401115-panoV9free-yisb.jpg
    so it does not matter.
But why do they than have a iphone 5 gsm internation and iphone 5 cdma if both bands are the same and work in europe as well.
    iphone 5 CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, 25)
    iphone 5 int  UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5)
i mean the ipad 4 appearently also works in europe and its this one:
    CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1900, 2100 MHz), GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz) , LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, 25)
i mean if gsm and edge and umts work on the ipad 4 in europe why make a second model for the iphone and not also for the ipad?
