Supporting Different Audio Formats in Director

Hello,
I have a desktop Director application that acts as a search
engine for audio libraries. It allows a user to listen to audio
files of different formats (AIFF,MP3,WAV). I am using the internal
sound object in Director to play these files. Everything worked
fine until last month when the client decided to re-encode their
entire AIFF library to use Big Endian encoding. Now the Director
app cannot play those files.
I can make the application play them if I use a Quicktime
object. However this would require that the machine have quicktime
installed. It is not an issue on a Mac but on a PC it is because I
don't want to force an installation of another application to make
mine run.
My question is, are there any xtras out there that can play
high fidelity audio and work both on mac and pc platforms?
Thanks,
Jeff

None. s40 phones are not capable of this AFAIK. They are only able to run Java apps.

  • NPCS V6.83 Supports Less Audio Formats Than Older ...

Hi, I'm having a nokia 6233 and I used to have PC Suite version 5 which was originally in my original nokia CD.
I used to convert my music from Mp3 to Mp4 using Nero Audio Encoder and make the playlist using winamp and transfer it to the phone using Nokia Music Manger. Those days I only had to load the playlist (m3u format) and just transfer music to the phone where that version was able to transfer converted music while transferring playlist.Plus it nly took a little time to do the whole process.
But in the new version(V.6.83) it wouldn't even let me load any mp4 music nor make playlists using nokia audio application. Is there any place I can download older versions of PC Suite? Or is there a solution to this?
The main purpose I use nero encoder instead of Nokia is because Nero Audio Encoder takes very little resources as Nokia encoder leads my 2.8Ghz computer processor to extreme temperatures.

  • Creating a duplicate library in a different audio format (MP3)

My iTunes library is in Apple Lossless format, but as that takes up a fair amount of storage space, I can't store as many songs as I'd like on my iPod. Therefore, I'd like to create a mirror library in MP3 format.
I'm trying to determine the easiest way to do that. The not-so-easy way seems to be to duplicate the entire library, then in the duplicate library, use the Advanced/Convert Selection to... command to convert to MP3, then delete all the Lossless songs from that library (doing the conversion in the original library and having two versions of every song would seem confusing when you want to play stuff). My library is currently stored on an external drive, which works fine.
Am I crazy, is there a more straightforward way to do this? Is it possible to export the actual song files while converting them at the same time?
    Thanks.

There is a way to sort your library by recording type. In the main iTunes window, right click (control/click) on the column headings, then select "Kind", then click on the Kind column to sort by recording type.
Still, wish somebody would answer our question!

if video0 is not created, i can suppose you're using the wrong module for your device. You should check if VendorID/DeviceID of the device match the VendorID/DeviceID of the module you're using.

  • Finder media encoder, how can I add audio formats support?

I've noticed the feature where if you right click on a media file, you get an option in the popup menu to encode the file to some Apple-friendly format, I suppose.
I am trying to find a way to enhance this program's support for audio formats. I have tons of music in FLAC and a little bit in other formats like OGG and -gosh- wma, and I'd rather convert them with a native, Apple-written app than with anything else.
Any clues as to how we can enhance this Encoder feature's support for audio formats?

Many video and audio files can be added to keynote slides using the Insert Media browser - the sounds and videos need to be in a format recognized by iPad and need to be placed in the browser via iPhoto then synched to the iPad using iTunes. Sound files can be created using Garageband or Quicktime and appear as movies in the browser so it is best to place them in a separate album with descriptive names.
If you would like Apple to add additional features, give them somme feedback:

  • Stereo Mix Audio format not supported?

    Hi
I'm pretty new at streaming, and i need help with my audio setup, I'm selecting Stereo Mix from the dropdown menu in the FMLE 3.2 but when i do it says.
    "Audio format not supported."
"Audio format provided by audio capture device is not supported by this application."
I don't really understand why, since my mic device is supported. Why does this occur?
And how can I fix it?
I have a motherboard soundcard "VIA HD".
EDIT: I figured out why it doesn't work.
I went to the Recording devices menu to check the options but I noticed that Stereo Mix was "Currently unavailable" I figured maybe a program was using it but I don't know how to check what programs use the device.

I have noticed something else which is weird : the recording device is ALWAYS called "Line 1".
I tried renaming both the VAC playback and record devices Line 1 to other names, FMLE still displays "Line 1". This makes no sense (and Audacity sure doesn't behave that way, I have checked).
Should I need to make a complete uninstallation to wipe old FMLE settings ?

  • Mixed audio formats

Does anyone know how much more difficult it is for FCP to have different audio formats in the timeline?
I'm guessing it takes more processing to have compressed formats like .mp3 in there, than to mix, say, .aif and .wav.

I'm still a bit new to the video world. I forget that FCP just renders all that stuff.
In my more familiar audio environments, I'm used to avoiding conversion when possible.

  • Creative Zen V Plus - Seeking your help with "Audio format is not supported" error

    Hi,
I have a problem with my Creative Zen V Plus and am looking for someone to do a quick test to help me. I listen to a lot of MP3 podcasts, so I often rewind, fast forward or set bookmarks inside tracks. When I do those operations in some tracks, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? when I ?land on certain places in a track (and I am able to reproduce the problem, which happens always at the same place in a particular track).
Here is what I mean by ?land?. For instance, there is a particular track (see the mp3 link below) that whenever I rewind to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I get the error ?Audio format is not supported? and playback is stopped. If I fast forward to exactly 35 min 37 seconds, I also get the error. If I set a bookmark to exactly 35 min 37 seconds and I then go to that bookmark, I also get the error. But I don?t get the error if I play the track normally without any rewinding or fast forwarding: the track is played and passes the 35 min 37 seconds mark without any error.
Creative Labs customer support wants me to return my player for repair, but I am not sure if the problem is with my player or if the problem would also be present on other Zen V Plus, thus my asking for your help.
I would appreciate if someone of you could try one of my problematic tracks on their player. Here is what you could do to help me:
1- Download and transfer to your Zen V Plus player the following audio file (it'ss a technology podcast and don?t worry, it'ss virus-free, it comes from CNET):
    http://podcast-files.cnet.com/podcas...oud_090808.mp3
2- Go to the 35 min and 37 seconds mark, press PAUSE and set a bookmark there.
3- Go into the Bookmarks menu and go to the bookmark you just set.
4- Do you see the error ?Audio format is not supported?, or the audio plays just fine? If the audio plays just fine, could you tell me what are the first words you hear
when going to that bookmark, just so that I am sure we are indeed doing the same test on each of our side?
5- What firmware version is your player at ?
Thank you very much for any help you could bring me.
    Patrick

    never mind. figured it out!

  • ITunes does not support audio format of iTubes store song

I downloaded some songs from the store but some of them say that they cannot be copied because the audio format is not supported by my iPod. The songs do not play in iTunes either. I have a nano with the latest update. What is happening and how do I fix it?

Songs from the iTunes Store are in ACC format & should play in iTunes & on your iPod...So it sounds like the songs didn't download correctly.

  • ITunes support for 5.1 audio formats - a plea to Apple!

When will we finally be able to purchase and play high resolution 5.1 audio formats such as DTS, Dolby Digital, MLP, etc with iTunes?
I have a car (Acura) that has iPod integration, as well as an amazing audio system with DVD-A and DTS support. The DVD-A surround sound discs sound amazing. The weakest link is the iPod....I can't buy any 5.1 content from iTunes and have it on my iPod or iPhone.
As you know, DVD-A and SACD are basically dead physical formats, but the 5.1 content they carried is amazing. There is no shortage of 5.1 music material these days. The distribution is the only thing missing. I'm willing to pay a premium for 5.1 music content, but Apple has to sell it...please!!!
    Doug

ed2345 - Thanks for the link. Looks very interesting! I don't see any surround/5.1/DTS/DD files, though. I don't think ripping/playing 5.1 files is possible via the iPod/iPhone software without Apple's support. I could author my own DVD-As from these hi-res files, but that's a little more effort and $ for a tool, just for 2.0 files. I'm primarily interested in iTunes/iPod/iPhone 5.1 support, in any format of Apple's choosing, directly within the iPod/iPhone. Whatever iTunes chooses would likely be the defacto standard for 5.1 audio files. I'd just rather carry an iPod full of 5.1 files than physical discs for every album. Again, thanks for the info!
Roamingnome - I'm addressing both Apple and our constituency with this request to support 5.1 audio formats. I have already submitted feedback directly to Apple.

  • What Audio Formats are Supported?

    Hello.
This is a pre-sales question. I'm considering purchasing an iPod Shuffle, and have downloaded and read the PDF user's manual for it. I could not find the answer to a question I have.
What audio formats does the iPod Shuffle support?
Is .wmv supported? Or just .wav and .mp3?
Or does it support only a proprietary format?
    Thank you! J. Danniel

  • Different Audio rates & audio formats = drop frames?

I´m getting a lot of drop frame errors during playback in the time line.
Now that I want to print my movie to tape the drop frames of course disturb this process, making it impossible.
I noticed that I have material with different audio rates and audio formats. Could this cause it and how do I make a conversion so that all of my audio is the same rate & format.
Audio captured with my camcorder is: 48KHz, 16-bit integer.
CD music in time line is: 44.1KHz, 16-bit integer.
Timeline is: 48KHz, 32-bit floating point
(The things that FCP suggests to do when drop frames occur; turning RT to Safe, buying a faster computer etc. havn´t helped, so the problem must be somewhere else)

You could try exporting your sequence as a self contained QuickTime Movie. This would give you one file with one set of rates and formats. Be sure to set up the export for 48Khz 16 bit. Once that's done, import the file back to your project, place it in a new sequence and try printing that to tape.
If you're just concerned with getting smooth playback in the timeline you could also try doing an audio mixdown. This is a good thing to do before printing to tape as well.
