Supporting Multiple domains in IM&P with and Expressway deployment?

Hello everyone. This is long winded but the context is needed to explain what I'm looking for. Any help is appreciated.
My customer has piloted IM&P for 1 year now and is looking to take it to the next level. They purchased Expressway Core & Edge and they are looking to enable Mobile Remote Access, B2B Video and XMPP Federation. One issue is that the Jabber domain that was selected 1 year ago for the pilot was a local domain. The reason for this is because the multidomain support was not available at the time. Internally there are 3 domains. example.ca, examplesales.ca, and examplebanannas.com. Their Jabber ID they use today is example.root.local. I am reading through the guides and it seems as though IM&P allows you to map a JABBER ID to an email address or a directory URI. This will allow multiple presence domains within one Presence cluster. The problem is that it appears as though federation will not work through expressway core / edge if you use this method. Can this be confirmed?
I am providing you these URL's only for guidance, to show you how I arrived at my situation where I’m asking for help on a configuration change to my customers IM&P settings.
note the section on page 41 of the following guide http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/config_guide/X8-5/Mobile-Remote-Access-via-VCS-Deployment-Guide-X8-5-1.pdf
One would presume that Multi-domain support is now supported with expressway core & edge. The caveat I found on page 4 of the following guide in relation to xmpp federation.

Expressway-E does not support XMPP address translation (of email addresses, for example). If you are using Expressway-E for XMPP federation, you must use native presence Jabber IDs from IM and Presence Service.

Based on my findings, I believe Cisco now supports multi-domain setup for IM&P with the "caveat" federation still doesn't work. My customer is not happy with this but still would like to proceed with the rest of the benefits that MRA brings to the table for their Jabber deployment.
To support the above scenario it is my understanding I need to make an adjustment to the configuration of IM&P. As I stated when I opened the case my customer’s current IM&P domain is “example.root.local” their JID is made up of [email protected]. It’s my understanding we cannot use this domain and activate MRA so we need to adjust everyone’s JID to be a Publicly routable DNS name. Since everyone that has a JABBER account also has an email account I was thinking we map the JID to the email. I’m trying to understand how to get from where we are to where we need to be. I found this guide but it doesn’t talk about the effects of doing this on a live system setup the way my customer is setup.

I am also not certain this is the setting I’m looking for. I believe what I need to change is actually on the Presence server under the domains section I found this
Domains Configuration
Use the controls on this window to view and edit domains managed by the IM and Presence Service. Previously, the IM and Presence Service supported a single domain. With this release, you can specify multiple domains.
Before You Begin
To take advantage of multiple IM and Presence Service domains, you must choose Directory URI as the IM address scheme on the Advanced Presence Settings window. If the IM address scheme is set to UserID@domain, the default domain is used for the IM and Presence Service. The status of the IM Address Scheme setting is displayed at the top of the window in the Status box. The Status box contains a link to the Advanced Presence Settings window.

  • OCS 10g - Does it support multiple domain hosting

    Hi,
We have installed OCS 10g for a domain university.edu
Now, It provides only two available domains as local domains. ie, university.edu and .edu
I would like to add some more sub domains (at least one more) such as college.university.edu to be a local domain in OCS for which it should accept emails.
It this simple feature of multiple domain hosting supported in OCS.
Kindly let us know some tips for it.
    Many thanks in advance.
    maas.

I configured the domain about 2 years ago, so I have to go and look in my archive (which is at the office, I will not be there before the end of next week).
The setup has 2 top level domains (one is .nl and one is .com). Under .nl about 4 domains are running, under .com only 1. If I remember corretly issues did raise with files. Calendar and mail are running as expected. This is on a 9.0.4 release though (not a OCS 10 R1 or R2). I did read loads of articles and had to patch even more. Luckily I printed all articles I read, so I can lookup the exect document numbers. If you can wait until next week, I can help you out.

  • RDBMS Security Store supporting multiple domains

Can one instance of the RDBMS Security Store be utilized to support multiple WLS 10.3.2 domains?
I have several 10.3.2 domains, all of which have clusters and role requirements? The documentation 'suggests' one Store per domain, but all of the tables in the schema contain DOMN (domain) and REALMN (realm) columns that would seem to indicate domain independence. It would be nice to be able to manage one Store schema that supports several Domains.

    Hi,
The document which you are referring is for WLS 10.0 and RDBMS security is introduced from WLS 10.3.0 onwards.
The reason why RDBMS security store should not be stored between two domains is RDBMS security store is used by authorization, role mapping, credential mapping, and certificate registry providers.
Once the RDBMS security store is configured in a domain, an instance of any of the preceding security providers that has been created in the security realm automatically uses only the RDBMS security store as a datastore, and not the embedded LDAP server.
It is just the replacement for Embedded LDAP.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Murali.

  • Cisco Jabber client to support Multiple e-mail domains

    Hi All,
Per the following link, CUCM an IM&Presence starts supporting multiple domains at version 10:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/10_0_1/delta/CUCM_BK_C206A718_00_cucm-new-and-changed-1001/CUCM_BK_C206A718_00_cucm-new-and-changed-1001_chapter_010.html#CUCM_RF_I31EA3AB_00
However, we have heard from Cisco that there is NO Jabber client that works with version 10 to support multiple email domains.
This may or not may be true.
Can someone who has connection with BU confirm this? If there is Jabber client that supports multiple email domains, what is the version and when is it going to be available?
    Thanks,
    Mustafa

How are you dealing with this DA restriction?
Also, what are your comments about the use of Domain Alias vs. Domain with inetdomainbaseDN pointing to my organization? Which one was your choice?

  • Multiple Domain support

Does anyone know if Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g Release 1 (10.1.2.2) supports Multiple Domains?
Example: Data Center looking at hosting mail/calendar/workspaces for Small Medium Businesses.
    Client 1: domaina.com
    Client 2: domainb.net
    Client 3: domainc.org
    Client 4: domaind.ca
    Client 5: domaine.hu
Can I install a single server instance and host these multiple domains?
I can't find any documentation to support this question.
    Thank you.

Hey Chandrakanth -- saw your other post as well. Wondering why you moved away from Kerberos. Could you elaborate on the SLS requirements/architecture complexity that led to this?

  • Multiple Domain 404 and Folder Setup

    Hi All,
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend.
I am currently setting up www.sunnyheat.fr for a client and we are hosting it of the www.sunnyheat.org.uk system as they are the same company but require multilingual websites. They did not want to go down the google translate route hence having it done it proper french.
The France website requires a 404 page in French, but the default 404 page is set to the standard system page which is in English.
My other question is, how have you set your folder up for multiple domains that require seperate content and pages?
At the moment I have a FR folder in the root and all the pages are setup in that, is there a way to have two seperate root folders?
Look forward to your responses and how your doing it!
    many thanks
    Asad Ali

    Thanks Liam.
What is the full scope of picking a country do? Right know I could see how it might effect ecommerce sites because of currency. But for non-ecommerce sites does the 'county' designation do anything?
From chat I was just told:
"Country and the culture define the language for the site and time zone for the site."
"it also defines the currency and taxes etc."
Wondering if this is documented somewhere and I'm just missing it. Would love to the full definitive answer the clearly states topics like the 404 pages, etc.

  • Help Setup KMS on single domain and active for multiple domain another

    Hi all,
I have a problem about configure DNS for KMS host. My company use a single domain "abc.com". But I must mange more than 10 company different and they use another domain and dns running independently, they have a one lease line connect them together.
My challenge is how to active all client on more than 10 company. Any ideas is very appreciate.
    Please help.
    Thanks,

That's a good article suggested by Meinolf, but it's a little outdated.
For an updated guide for this:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793409.aspx
    Publishing to Multiple DNS Domains
By default, the KMS host is registered only in the DNS domain to which the host belongs. If the network environment has only one DNS domain, no further action is required.
If there is more than one DNS domain name, you can create a list of DNS domains for a KMS host to use when publishing its SRV RR. Setting this registry value suspends the KMS host’s default behavior of publishing only in the domain specified as the Primary
    DNS Suffix.
Optionally, add priority and weight parameters to the
DnsDomainPublishList registry value for KMS. This feature enables you to establish KMS host priority groupings and weighting within each group to define which KMS host to try first and balance traffic among multiple KMS hosts.
Note   DNS changes might not be reflected until all DNS servers have been replicated. Changes made too frequently (time < replication time) can leave older records if the change is performed on a server that has not been
    replicated.
To automatically publish KMS in multiple DNS domains, add each DNS domain suffix to whichever KMS should publish to the multi-string registry value
DnsDomainPublishList in registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform. After changing the value , restart the Software Licensing Service to create the SRV RRs.
Note   This key has changed from the Windows Vista location of
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SL.
After configuring a KMS host to publish to multiple domains, export the registry subkey, and then import it in to the registry on additional KMS hosts. To verify that this procedure was successful, check the Application event log on each KMS host. Event
ID 12294 indicates that the KMS host successfully created the SRV RRs. Event ID 12293 indicates that the attempt to create the SRV RRs was unsuccessful. For a complete list of error codes, see the
Volume Activation 2.0 Operations Guide at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc303695.aspx.

  • Multiple domains for tracker.js

I'm using the personalization functionality of CQ 5.4, which appears to force a request for http://localhost:4502/libs/wcm/stats/tracker.js when pages load. According to the docs at http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/5-4/deploying/configuring_cq.html#OSGi Configuration in the Repository , I should be able to override this URL by adding some nodes to /apps/projectName. However, my tests seem to show that doing so for one project affects all sites on the server. In production, the client has a number of domains all running on one CQ instance.
    1) Is there a way to remove this request altogether without modifying any JSPs in the /libs folder, or inheriting/overriding them?
    2) Is there a way to support multiple domains?
The best solution I've come up with so far is creating a generic domain like cq-tracking.clientName.com, and having all sites use that.

    See the following:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00808c3c45.
    shtml
    *Perform Multi-Domain Searches (Optional) *
*Optional.* The ASA currently does not support the LDAP referal
mechanism for multi-domain searches (Cisco bug ID CSCsj32153).
Multi-domain searches are supported with the AD in Global Catalog Server
mode. In order to perform multi-domain searches, setup up the AD server
for Global Catalog Server mode, usually with the these key parameters
for the LDAP server entry in the ASA. The key is to use an
ldap-name-attribute that must be unique across the directory tree.
    server-port 3268
    ldap-scope subtree
    ldap-naming-attribute userPrincipalName
If global catalog server is not an option for you, you can always create two seperate SSL tunnel-groups and two seperate LDAP aaa-server groups and this would also allow you to do two AD domains (but the drawback is that you would have to inform the user which group they should select)

  • DNS for Multiple Domains

I am trying to figure out the proper configuration for DNS that will support multiple domains. I have DSN working now for just one domain.
My XServe has a static IP connected directly to cable modem and is the master nameserver. I also have an Ubuntu server with static IP connected directly to cable modem that is the secondary (slave) nameserver.
On the XServe, I currently have a primary zone created for domain1.com. with:
    * an A record for domain.com. (Fully Qualified) and the same static IP as the XServe
    * an A record for ns1 (not fully qualified) and the same static IP as the XServe
    * Aliases for ftp, www and mail (not fully qualified) mapped to destination ns1.domain1.com. (Fully Qualified)
Nameservers under the Primary Zone is ns1.domain1.com. and Mail Exchangers is ns1.domain1.com. with a priority of 10.
The reverse zone is getting created appropriately for me as far as I can tell. I am able to access www.domain1.com just fine as well as mail and ftp.
Now I want to add a new domain2.com to this master nameserver. I know that I will need a new Primary Zone for domain2.com. to be recognized and to setup it's aliases?
Can I use the same static IP or do I have to have a unique static IP?
Can I use the ns1.domain1.com. nameserver or does the new domain2.com need new nameservers?
    Does domain2.com have it's own A records?
Does the mail exchangers need to be different for domain2.com?
It seems like all the documentation and information that I can find are just for configuring one domain and not so much for multiple domains. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Spotted Dog

Don't think of subsequent domains as being any different from the first domain.
For every domain you need to provide certain information, including a list of the hostnames within that domain. There is no relationship between 'www' in domain1.com and 'www' in domain2.com (unless you point them to the same address, but that's a different issue).
Any host record in the zone can either be an A record (where you specify an IP address) or a CNAME (where you specify another hostname that it maps to).
In the case of your web server handling both domains you could set 'www.domain2.com' as an A record with the appropriate IP address, or you could set it as a CNAME with a value of 'www.domain1.com.' (essentially saying 'www.domain2.com has the same IP address of www.domain1.com, so go find that address').
It's also possible to use cross-domain records for things like name servers and mail servers - in other words you can set your MX record for domain2.com to mail.domain1.com (essentially saying that domain2.com's email is handled by mail.domain1.com).
Can I use the same static IP or do I have to have a unique static IP?
That's not a question for DNS. What you're defining are the hostnames in that domain. If you have one server (e.g. a web server) that can handle multiple domains (e.g. one apache server handling web traffic for both domain1.com and domain2.com) then, sure, you can use the same IP address for both.
If, on the other hand, you have specific services that cannot be multi-hosted (e.g. HTTPS) then you will need different IP addresses.
Can I use the ns1.domain1.com. nameserver or does the new domain2.com need new nameservers?
Sure, it's entirely possible to use domain1.com's name servers for domain2.com.
    Does domain2.com have it's own A records?
It can do, or not, as you choose. If you're running www.domain2.com on the same server as www.domain1.com then you could use a CNAME record to point www.domain2.com to www.domain1.com.,or you could set an A record with the same IP address.
The result would be the same, but the CNAME has the advantage that if your IP address changes you only need to change your DNS in one place (www.domain1.com) and all the other addresses would automatically follow.
Does the mail exchangers need to be different for domain2.com?
Not at all, if your mail server is configured to handle mail for both domains it's entirely possible to specify mail.domain1.com as the MX record for domain2.com.

  • Multiple domain Single repository

    Hi all,
We have a set up of multiple 8.1 SP2 domains running in SunOS, one for each
    developer.
During the developement process, we want all the developers to access the
    same repository.
How can we do this ?
    Thanks,
    Karthi.

    1. IIS is the contact-point / end-point for MBAM service. So if you want local communication only between MBAM and clients, deploy IIS server in local site.
    2. I have this understanding, that MBAM Support multiple domains, but I have no experience in that.

  • Custom AccessGate not support Multi-domain SSO

    Hi,
I have a requirement to implement the Multi-domain Single Sign-On with custom built SSO plugin (i.e Webgate/AccessGate/WebAgent), we have proposed OAM to implement Multi-domain SSO with custom built accessGate, now we are facing issue is, as per Oracle Access Manager documentation, Multi-domain SSO will not work if we use Custom Built webgate/AccessGate. Do you know whether OAM 11g or CA or Tivoli will support Multi-domain single sign-on with custom WebAgents?? Your quick response is highly appreciated.
    Regards
    Som

Since you have MDSSO implemented you need to figure out a way for multidomain logout as well.
In the step 3 since you logged out of abc.com, the obSSOCookie for that domain is deleted but the cookie in the domain def.com still remains so you are able to login again in def.com. If the central domain was completely different from the other domain than you would have got the SSO even after logout.
Seems like you have a configuration where you will never be able to logout of def.com because the cookie in the central domain will always be there until it times out.
Here's what you need to do..
-During logout call logout for all the domains configured

  • More problems with multiple domains and subaccounts

I had been creating multiple .mac web sites in earlier versions of IWeb by creating extra “domain” files and dragging them in and out of the folder library/Application Support/IWeb as needed. Now I notice that IWeb 08 lets me store several domain files with different names in a folder, and pick whichever one I want when launching IWeb. That’s good -- but of course, the IWeb “Publish” command wants to publish them all to my same .dot mac web site -- even though I have four .dot mac subaccounts each of which can have its own web site. The only way I could figure out to publish different domain files to different .mac web sites was to create several different user accounts on my computer, assign each one to a different .mac subaccount, launch IWeb, find the domain file for that account, publish it -- then log out, log in to another account, launch IWeb there and do the whole exercise again.
It would be bad enough if that worked, but it doesn’t: I found that when I logged in to an account other than the one that created a given domain file, I could open that file (I’ve got it stored in a folder on root level of my hard drive), but I couldn’t save it -- I would get the error message: “Couldn’t save file. You don’t have permission to make changes to that file.” So OK, I went into “Get Info” and changed the ownernship/permissions to match the user account I was in. Now I can make changes and save my domain file -- but I can’t publish what I just saved. When I try, to get the message: “Publish Error. An unknown error occurred.”
Is there any way I make this all work -- to open and save my domain files and publish them to the .dot mac subaccount/web site I want? And is there any way around this whole clunky system that would allow me to publish to different .mac subaccounts/websites more efficiently (preferably logged into my Mac from the same user account)?
(It may be irrelevant, but in addition to paying for the subaccounts, I bought the family pack version of ILife what should give me legit access from a licensing point of view anyway.)

That's helpful -- I'll try it. It seems to me it would still be preferable to store my multiple domain files in one hard drive location, easily accessible and offering read and write privileges to any user account. That way I could at least do design work, etc., on any of my domains without logging in and out as various users. Any way to make that work? And really, it seems weird that I can sit at my Mac and mount the IDisks of any of my four .mac sub accounts, open their folders, and look at the web pages previously published to those subaccounts -- but apparently I can't publish any changes to those subaccounts/domains through IWeb without logging out and then back in as a different user. Isn't there some way around these apparent restrictions?

  • Multiple (but separate) domain problem & Apple's slow and useless response

I am having problem with multiple (but separate) domain. I opened a ticket.
Here is Apple's slow and useless response and my follow up.
This follow up is not going to resolve the issues I am having. The sites are not in one domain file. I have split them into separate domains. I found that the simplest change to any page made the publishing process extremely and reasonably slow. If I updated a single site, iWeb republishes the whole conglomeration; hardly the most efficient way.
I have several directories under the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ directory with separate Domain.sites2 files for each site:
    consultingAM.com
    DarkAssassinMovie.com
    Fuzzy Llama Junior Optimist Club
    GulfportOptimist.com
    OptimistView
    pAwesomeProductions.com
    www.nfdoi.com
With the previous version of iWeb, I navigated to a specific ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ directory, selected the Domain.site file, and opened it. This would open iWeb with the selected domain. Several of the sites have their blog page with the RSS subscribe option.
Once I made the update, all I usually had to do was publish site and all was well. Occasionally, I would have to do a publish all if I changed domains. All in all, I had no problems with publishing once I found the right steps to be able to maintain multiple domains.
Now, using the default publish or publish all process, all I get is the last site I published. In order to get things semi-functional, I published a site, then I would go to iDisk/Web/Sites/ directory, select the folder name for the site I had just published, then copy it or move it to iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb directory. This was rather slow and I suspect it is not an approved solution, but it semi-worked. My sites are back up, but they are not fully functional.
Is there anyway to get back to using the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ directory (separate Domain.sites file for each site) process to publish multiple sites? If not, is there any way to suck in the various domains back into one? If that is possible, will it take hours to publish the combined 2-3GB like it did with the previous version?
How do I reverse the 'personal domain' process? I do not want to do this at this time. I just wanted to see what the steps were. I have done the first step, but not the second.
I was glad to see some of the changes made in the upgrade (web widgets, maps, html snippets, theme switching), but I am too happy about the changes made by the upgrade process. In the past, I upgraded my Apple related stuff as soon as it came out. Based on this upgrade, that won't happen again.
It took you guys 5 days to get back to me (during which time several of my sites were down) and I do not believe the information you provided is going to solve my specific problems. I am very disappointed with the results of this upgrade. Clearly there was inadequate testing of this product before it was released. I cannot recall seeing the Apple discussion forums with hundreds of topics and thousands of posts within a week or two of a new release. Apple had to upgrade iWeb in the first week, another poor sign.
Apple is beginning to slip back to the pack; all vendors all below average. Apple is getting more like Microsoft everyday. First Apple delays the release of an OS upgrade so they can concentrate on a freaking phone, now you release software that is so buggy it should be classified as beta at best.
Some of the changes/problem I am seeing since the upgrade (in addition to the problems mentioned previously) are:
layout changes; some of my pages no longer look the same; same of the changes are so bad the pages are unreadable
broken photo pages; some of my photo pages no longer work; some of them have no text or pictures
file/page name changes; why would Apple change the location of the files; now my domains are not pointing right location; special characters (like spaces, ampersands, etc.) are handled differently in this version; specifically, I see that spaces are changed to underscores (_); iWeb used to use '%20' for spaces; what was Apple thinking?
broken 3rd party themes; I know Apple is not responsible for 3rd party themes, but you should certainly be aware that they exist
Based on what I am seeing online, most of the people who are complaining about major iWeb issues are not newbies; based on the technical details in the threads, there are clearly some experienced people who are trying to figure things outw. I have lost many hours trying to figure this mess out. I now have to review hundreds of pages to try get things to look and work the way they did before the upgrade. I have had to handle dozens of phone calls and emails from my viewers and subscribers trying to explain the situation.
I googled 'iweb 08 *****' and got nearly 50,000 hits! I think Apple better get in front of this train before it gets run over.

    Dear David,
I understand that you are experiencing an issue viewing some of your websites published in iWeb:
I have examined all of the published pages and they appear to load and function as expected. If you published your website to .Mac, you can visit it either of these ways:
    - In iWeb, click the Visit button in the lower-left corner.
    - Enter the following URL into a web browser:
    http://web.mac.com/daviddawley/
If you have published more than one website, the URL above will take you to the default website, which is the first website listed in iWeb. To visit another website you have created in iWeb, use the following URL format:
    http://web.mac.com/daviddawley/iWeb/YourSiteName
Using this form, the web addresses for the two sites you mentioned would be:
    http://web.mac.com/daviddawley/iWeb/FuzzyLlamaJuniorOptimist.com
    http://web.mac.com/daviddawley/iWeb/pAwesomeProductions.com
To change the default website, simply open iWeb, and in the Site Organizer, drag the desired default website to the top and republish to .Mac.
NOTE: Be sure to give each website a unique name. This will help prevent one website from overwriting another. For further information, refer to the following article:
iWeb: Do not use similar names for your sites

If you still experience issues with the website, try the following troubleshooting steps:
    WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES
If your website has movies, you may need to wait several minutes after going to the website before the movies are ready to play. The QuickTime Player icon indicates that a movie is still loading.
    CLEAR YOUR BROWSER CACHE
If you use Safari, you can clear your browser cache by choosing Empty Cache from the Safari menu. If you use another browser, consult that browser’s documentation if you need assistance in clearing your browser cache.
    UPDATE YOUR BROWSER
Make sure you are using the latest available version of your web browser when viewing pages published in iWeb. If you use Safari, you can check for updates by choosing Software Update from the Apple menu. If there are any available Safari, Security, or Mac OS X updates, install those updates and try looking at your website again.
If you use another browser, consult that browser’s documentation if you need assistance in updating the browser.
    TRY ANOTHER BROWSER
If you use a Mac, try viewing your website with Safari or Firefox. If you use Windows, try Internet Explorer 6 or Firefox. Firefox is a free download available here: http://getfirefox.com
    TRY ANOTHER NETWORK
If possible, try viewing your website from another network or Internet connection. If you can successfully view the website from another network, please consult your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) to resolve this issue.

Sub Issue : I can't publish to .Mac from iWeb
Comments : I was interested in forwarding one of several iWeb based sites to one of my domains. I wanted to see what the steps were. I believe I inadvertently started the process for moving the site to www.nfdoi.com site. I have several sub directories under the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb directory with separate domain.sites files (now domain.sites2).
I was going through all of my domain.sites files and opening them in iWeb08; then publishing them. Somewhere along the line everything blew up. Most of my iWeb sites no longer function, It appears that every other iweb site other www.nfdoi.com is down EXCEPT the last one I published. I have made a mess of things and would appreciate any help.

Just got off the phone with Apple Support.  There procedure was the following:
    1.  Go to the Apple TV, select settings, general and scroll down to reset.
    2.  Select reset and then select reset all
Apple TV will go through a restart after the reset and you will have to select your network then log in with your network or Airport Express password.  You will then have to turn on home sharing and It will then ask you for your Apple ID for the iTunes store and then the password.  At this point you may not see your library, because the Apple TV wants you to turn on home sharing on your home computer that is hosting the movie library.  Turn off home sharing on that computer, restart iTunes and turn on home sharing again.  After this is done you should be able to see you library listed under the computer.
After going through these steps, when I select an HD movie from my iTunes library the movie comes up after about a 5 second delay.
Hope this helps!  I am back up for business.

  • LDAP supporting multiple DNS domains

I have an environment with multiple DNS domains, and am configuring a Directory server (DS 6.3.1) to centralize various OS configuration maps including user authentication. None of the DNS domains have unique data, so I'd like to do something like storing all the real data in one suffix, then somehow have all clients look to that primary suffix. I am aware that the Solaris Native LDAP client wants to bind to a nisDomainObject that matches its DNS domain. I'm just having a hard time believing that I really need to manage all those individual suffixes when they don't have unique data requirements.
Take as an example the following domains to be supported: foo.example.com, bar.example.com, dev.example.com, qa.example.com, prd.example.com (no hosts are actually in "example.com", they are all in subdomains). Again, all share common configuration data, same user IDs, etc - no unique maps are required.
I created a suffix, "dc=example, dc=com", set it up with idsconfig. All is well there.
[A] My first thought is to bind all Solaris clients, regardless of their DNS domain, to the baseDN of "dc=example, dc=com" in order to avoid having a separate suffix for each DNS domain. I tried to do this using "-a defaultSearchPath=dc=example,dc=com" with ldapclient init, but it failed with an error indicating it wants to see the nisDomainObject of its real DNS domain.
The second though I had, which I don't believe is possible, is to find some sort of a LDAP equivalent of a symbolic link so that I could actually have an object for each DNS domain, but it would simply point back to "dc=example,dc=com". I can't find anything in the documentation which suggests this is possible, but I'd love to be wrong!
[C] Perhaps this could be somehow done with a rats nest of SSDs, but that really seems unwieldy, right? I plan on using a fair amount of the available objects, so it would be many SSDs per suffix. Yuck.
Can anyone comment on my above thoughts, or provide how they would go about supporting multiple DNS domains that have common configuration data?
    Thank you,
    Chris

Ok, I answered my own question. Turns out it's pretty easy. Just use the "-a domainName=example.com" option with `ldapclient` then make sure that the FQDN of the LDAP server is available (or use its IP address). My problem was that the ldapclient overwriting nsswotch.conf was clobbering the SSL session because I used the FQDN which couldn't resolve.
This leaves an interesting condition of having the output of "domainname" not match the DNS domain. I'm testing now to see if this causes any unexpected issues with our environmnet, but I suspect it's not a problem.

  • Can you host multiple domain names on mobile me with iWeb '09?

    Hi
Can anyone help, before I upgrade to iLife '09, I have a personal web domain name which I host on my mobileme account. My girlfriend now wants a website and I have bought her a domain name and want to use iWeb to design it but I can't seem to host multiple domains on iWeb '08, can you with iLife '09? Or will she have to buy her own mobile me account? Any help will be great!!!
    Thanks

MobileMe -MME -is Apple's hosting service.
Domain Name System - DNS translates an understandable address like www.mywebsite.com into the IP address which is a number like 40:75:92:301.
Cname is a name of record in a database that records what domain name goes to what IP address.
IP address is just a unique number that identifies any device connected to the internet.
An FTP client is an application the uploads your files to a server using File Transfer Protocol.
I mainly use Web Site Maestro because it doesn't just upload the files but optimizes them first to remove all the unnecessary code that iWeb creates to allow your website to download at least 30% faster.
I also use Yummy FTP for sorting out and keeping track of my files on the server and uploading folders of images and music files along with their assets for flash presentations.
I have used Host Excellence for years because of the way they allow you to name your own root folder on the server and also their great tech support.
FTP and servers can be a bit confusing but, if you have a good hosting company, you can get by on very little knowledge and understanding. I do!
I couldn't agree more with you about the acronyms and jargon. The more people use them usually means the less they know. One of the most misused words is "domain". I tried to sort that one out here...
