Supports many Rio MP3 players, but not Rio Forge?

In brief: iTunes 7 appears to support many models of Rio MP3 players, but not the Rio Forge. Why not? Can future versions of iTunes include support for the Rio Forge?
I recently upgraded from a PowerBook G4 to a MacBook Pro. On the PB, I could use my Rio Forge MP3 player with iTunes easily. I just had to download the iTunes plug-in from the MP3 player manufacturer's web site. However, I just now discovered that this plug-in is not compatible with Intel processors. That's the manufacturer's problem, right? Or is it?
My wife tried her new Zen Nano Plus MP3 player with iTunes. Without installing any drivers, iTunes recognized her player. It thought it was a "Nomad MuVo", which is another player model from the same manufacturer, but it works.
I concluded that the support for the Zen Nano (as a Nomad MuVo) must be built into iTunes. I looked through the files and found that's true. I also found that there were several Rio MP3 players mentioned, including the Rio Chiba and Rio Cali, which use the same iTunes plug-in from the manufacturer as the Rio Forge. If that same plug-in can support all those MP3 player models, maybe it would be a small matter to extend iTunes' support to include the Rio Forge.
How about it, iTunes developers?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iTunes 7, Rio Forge

It may work with other players but iTunes does not actually "support" any players except the iPod.

  • Dvd plays on players but not on computers

I really don't understand the following issue: After I burn a disk image created with idvd in toast 6 (disk utilities can't seem to burn it properly) I am able to play the dvd on regular dvd players, but not on any of my computers. Why? (The "play on both PC and Mac is selected)

    Hi mieke,
that is indeed strange because to make a .img of a video-dvd run on dvd standalones, you have to choose in Toast "data"+"dvd rom udf".... and NOT PC+Mac.... (???)
you don't want to create a datadisk, but a videoDVD, which has very different file structure/format then computer disks........
....... only advice I can give: try again, with settings mentioned above...
hope this answer could be helpful........

  • Sound on DVD players, but not computer??

I had to switch from my mac to a PC in order to burn a DVD. I can get the DVD to work in a regular DVD player, but in PC's there is Video but no Sound?
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks All!

I had the same bizarre problem. Burned DVDs would play with sound on commercial DVD players, but not on my PowerBook through the DVD Player application. Attempting to solve the problem, I used Handbrake to rip the DVDs. The ripped files would play fine with sound if placed on my 5G iPod, but not on my Mac through QuickTime (still video only, no sound). This fixed the probem: launch Audio MIDI Setup (it is in your Utilities folder) and check the volume output sliders. One of mine was set to zero output, even though I had never before launched Audio MIDI Setup. I moved the output slider controls to maximum. Problem solved. Good luck.

  • Older creative zen mp3 players suddenly not recognized by Wiindows Vista

    Hello
I have three older Creative Zen mp3 players, a Vision M, a Sleek Photo and an Xtra. The computer has Windows Vista Basic. All thre players were working perfectly three or four weeks ago.. As of a few days ago. the computer is no longer recognizing? all three players. I tried system restore but but system restore is not working. Do I post this problem here or would the Microsoft support forums be a better place to go to for help for this? Thank you for any advice.

    Hello
I am using Creative MesiaSource Player to manage them, I did the clean up/rebook on the players, I don't know what
was installed recently from Windows Update. I tried doing a system restore, I have Windows Vista Basci, but I need to restore it to three or four weeks ago and system restore soes not go back that far. I have also done the sfc /scannow and the message I received was Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files ibut was unable to fix them. Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem? Thanks

  • How can I view DVD's that I dubbed from old vhs tapes?  I finalized them and can play on other DVD players but not my IMac.  Is there a specific program?

I dubbed DVD's from old VHS tapes.  I finalized them and can play tehm on differant DVD players, but on my IMac I can't play them.  Ultimately I want to create home movies with pics, but how can I play the DVD's?

A DVD is a DVD, unless it's been authored in a non-standard way. When you insert it in your Mac, do you at least see the disk appear on the desktop? Does it have a VIDEO_TS folder in it, containing various files?
If you open DVD Player manually (from the Applications folder), does it see it and start playing? If not, try downloading VLC (free) and see if that works.

  • DVD plays on DVD players but not on all PCs

I used Idvd to burn a dvd. It plays on DVD players but the audio is garbled when played on some PCs running windows XP. The same PC plays other DVDs ok.
Has anyone had this problem? Does a PC require quicktime in order to play a DVD made from Final cut and IDVD?
    Thanks for any help

    Welcome to discussions, Rayfred
Does a PC require quicktime in order to play a DVD made from Final cut and IDVD?
    No.
Did you burn it onto a DVD+R or DVD-R? Many PCs don't play DVD-Rs well.

  • Full list of MS SQL 2000 features that are supported in compatibilty 80 mode but not available in 2008 R2 compatibility 100

    Hello Everyone,
Could you possibly suggest where I can find a full list MS SQL 2000 features that are supported in 2008 R2 compatibilty 80 mode but not available in  compatibility 100?
    Thanks
    SSIS question

    Hi Tom,
What you are saying makes sense, if the compatibility level is 90 then the old ANSI joins are expected to be rectified.
I wrote a script to check - it's an easy exercise, all you need is to loop through the catalog views and for each SP or scalar function run this command:
set fmtonly on exec <object> set fmtonly on and in the catch block handle the error related to compatibility.
For checkign the views similar thing set noexec on <select top 1 * from view> set noexec off.
This works very fast as none of the code is actually executed.
Caveat thought  triggers and table functions. I could not find the way how to check them. so will have to extract the DDLs and just check the text for old ansi joins. Not very reliable, but that's all I can think of at the moment.
Any chance you know how to compile a trigger or table function without running.
For table functions when I tried set noexec on they still asked for parameters, something I was trying to avoid.
    Thanks

  • HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT IS DOWNLOADING UPDATES BUT NOT INSTALLING THEM

MY LAPTOP MODEL:HP Pavilion 15-e016tx Notebook PCI UNINSTALLED THE CURRENT HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT AND REINSTALLED IT BUT THE PROLEM IS NOT RECTIFIED.CAN ANYONE SUGGEST SOLUTION??

    Hi  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15-e016tx Notebook  and the HP Support Assistant not working correctly. Here is a link to troubleshoot the HP Support Assistant. Sometimes the updates have been completed already. So I would ignore the updates. If you are running Virus Protection program I would try to disable it and then try the updates. Here is a link to put the Notebook in Safe Mode. Then you can try running the HP Support Assistant. Sometimes that helps. I hope this helps you. Thanks.

  • DVD Plays on DVD Players But not on computers- not even mine!

    HELP!
I burned a DVD for a client using DVDSP 3 ( i know it's old...but it's what I've got) and the DVD works fine on all the Standard desktop DVD players we've tried them on but when the client put it in her laptop, the computer rejected it. I burned her a new one myself and tried it on MY G5, which burned it (I didn't check the first time to see if it would work on a G5) and my computer rejected it too! I've burned dozens of DVD's before using the same version of DVDSP and haven't had this problem before...
what am I missing? Could it be something in my preferences or something that i forgot to click?
My DVD drive is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D and reads other dvd's with no problem...

No rhyme or reason... but tried one more time after putting back my old copy of idvd 06 with my oldest themes in it, and I now have DVD's that will play on regular DVD players!
Now, if Apple could just get us a firmware update for the SONY DVD RW DW-U10A which came with my G-5 and then maybe we could all burn disks at the new 16X speed! Instead of limiting our possibilites.
Oh and yes, I did contact Sony about firmware updates. They informed me that this is really an OEM drive (whatever that is) and that Sony does not support it!

  • Why does KT4V support Barton 2500+ and 2800+ but not 2600+?

Does it have something to do with the multiplier?
I want to exchange this 2500 for a 2600 but I don't know if it will work.  The 2500 has a 14 multi and the 2600 has a 15 multi.  My board doesn't allow me to select multi :(  So only can be done by selecting the right chip.
Can anyone help me?  Thanks in advance.

    Nope. 3 desktop chips:
    2600+ Barton 1,917MHz 333FSB @ 11.5x
    2600+ T-Bred 2,086 MHz 333FSB @ 12.5x
    2600+T-Bred 2,133MHz 266FSB @ 16x
If mobile 2500 & 2600 multis are 14 & 15 then that's not like Bartons at all - more like the 266 T-Bred 16x. Plus you say the 2600M rated FSB is 133(266) which is also T-Bred spec instead of Barton. I suppose your L2 cache is also like a T-Bred (256KB)? MSI does confirm that the T-Bred is supported so I don't really see the relevance to Bartons anyway. Maybe I'm being dumb.
Oh, as to the missing 2600+ Barton in the MSI CPU support page, it seems there is a disagreement between MSI and AMD as to what the 2600+ Barton really is. MSI lists a 2600+ Thorton. AMD does not list a Thorton with this rating (here).

  • Korean Language Support Package required for Reader but not Acrobat?

One of our departments on campus has created a form that is causing some users to get a message prompting them to download the Korean Language Support Package in order to fill in the form fields.
When I originally tested this in Acrobat Pro 9 I didn't get any errors.  Another user also reported the issue recently (two this week).  So we tested it again, but this time used both Reader 9 and Reader X -- both programs were generating this message to download the language pack.  The form appears to be completely in English with no Korean characters.  It uses fairly standard fonts and I didn't see any embedding or encoding issues with the fonts.
Aside from having end users download a Korean Language Support Pack to view a PDF that doesn't seem to contain any Korean, are there any other options out there without recreating the form from scratch?  Here is a list of the fonts used in the PDF.  The only types of encoding are Ansi and Identity-H (which I expanded in the SS above), with the latter fonts being embedded within the PDF.
Any ideas?  The form is linked below.  Thanks in advance for your replies.
Here is a link to the PDF

    SOLVED
While our problems differ, my solution may still be relevant.
My culprit was a rogue font in an embedded Visio drawing. I identified and located the font using the "List text using non-embedded fonts" Preflight analysis in Acrobat 9.4 Pro. I checked the encoding of each non-embedded font and discovered that Arial Unicode MS used Korean font encoding (specifically, KSCms-UHC-H). See screenshot below. Doubleclicking on one of the font properties highlighted the offending text in the pdf.
I went to that location in the source file, which happened to be in the first embedded Visio drawing (shown above). I double clicked the drawing, selected all, and selected Arial font. Then I regenerated the pdf and viewed it in Reader X. The Korean language pack error message did not appear and all Visio drawings displayed normally.
I would recommend using the Acrobat preflight tools to locate text or objects with incorrect font encoding within your PDF or form, then surgically striking (or carpet bombing) the affected location(s) in the source files with embedded/supported fonts.
    Hope this helps.

  • Jabber 4.4 "Graphics card or driver not supported" error on one machine but not another.

Hi, I looked at the KB document but the email link on it no longer works.
I have two end-users using Jabber 4.4 on identical machines, same specs, same driver build and OS image. One gets the  "Graphics card or driver not supported" error, the other does not.
    We have two DellOptiPlex 7010's,
Both had 2 instances of AMD Radeon HD 7470 - they are dual monitor machines.
In both cases the driver version 8.922.0.0, Driver Date 12/6/2011. This is the latest Dell has on their website.
On one machine when I run a fresh install for Jabber for TelePresence 4.4 it works fine. But on another the user first gets
    "supportabilitytest.exe has stopped working
A oriblem cause the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program."
Then when that's closed out we get:
"Graphics card or driver not supported!
New features in this version of Jabber Video are not supported by your computer's graphics driver.
Update to the newest graphics driver available and run Jabber Video again."
I can't believe it's just a matter of upgrading the drivers because in this case one machine with identical drivers works.
I appreciate any insights, thanks !

    Hi ksouthall,
It sounds like the openGL supported version did not install on the one that is failing.  There isn't much we can do regarding that error.  Best practice is to always upgrade to the latest manufacturer's available driver.  Client requirements are below.
Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit), Vista, or XP (SP 2 or newer), with OpenGL 1.2 or newer.
For 720p HD video calls, Intel Core2Duo @ 1.2GHz or better.
For VGA video calls, Intel Atom @ 1.6GHz or better.
Webcam, built-in or external. You need an HD webcam if you want other callers to see you in HD.
Broadband Internet connection with a recommended bandwidth of 768kbps upstream and downstream. You need about 1.2Mbps upstream and downstream for 720p HD video calls.
    Regards,
    Jason

  • ITunes WILL burn mp3 disks but NOT audio format disk - HELP!!

It's 1am and I've just pulled out the last of my hair.... Been trying to fix this for the last 4 hours. Here's the background.....Started out innocently enough, tried to burn a cd for my wife of a play list I'd created. Kept getting an Error 4450 message. Found what appeared to be the answer here, turned off the option to include text info on the cd. When I tried it again, I no longer got the error message, in fact, it seemed to be going through the burn process. However, after it said it was writing the last song on the list, a new window popped up from XP, indicating a blank disk in the drive. iTunes acts like its done. Nothing else happens. The CD in the drive is still blank. Now, if I change the burn settings to burn an mp3 disk (as opposed to audio), everything works.
I've tried everything I can think of. I did have Roxio v. 10 I think, but uninstalled it thinking that was causing a problem. No change. Can anyone help??
    Thanks!

  • Play a game with 2 players but not over wifi or in the same room?

My dad and I both are getting iPads and wanted to see if there are any games we can play together even though we don't live near each other.
I guess it would have to be turn based or something but can let him or I know the other person has done something. I was hoping Scrabble but that looks like it only works over wifi.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Rich

Are you saying that neither of you will have wi-fi at your homes ? If not, will you both have 3G models ?
Words With Friends is a Scrabble-like game and you can play it remotely either via wi-fi, or 3G. Remember, you don't have to be on the same wi-fi network..... you could be on yours, and he could be on his. As long as the iPad has internet connectivity somehow, it will work.

  • Installed Latest Flash and Shockwave players but not loading

    Hi,
I've installed/reinstalled Flash Player and Shockwave pleyers. I instaled in Safe Mode. I'ver used stand alone installers and unstallers. I've checked for malware and removed any found. I went back to an earlier verion of Firefox where  they worked but no result. Have same problem in Chorme. They worked before I upgraded to the latest versions. Adobe site test verifies successful installs.
I've not used the Microsoft tool.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

I found the answer on another forum, but since this result showed up higher in the google search results:
Install Flash player in the Internet explorer browser as well, it seems if you do it in FF it only installs what's necessary for Flash in FF
