Suppress confirmation tone when sending text on 62...

Hi
Is there anyway to suppress the confirmation tone when a text message is sent without using a silent profile? This is on a 6233.
I want to be able to send a text message silently, but still have my selected ring tone, etc active.

hi i quite like this particular feature and have had it on previous phones however on my new phone nokia 6300
i dont have the "message sent" confirmation

Trax and kirt are correct. I'm pretty good with technology, being an engineer and all, and I can tell you for a fact that this 'swoosh' sound (triggered by a successfully sent SMS) can NOT be disabled from ANY menu in iOS 5. The ONLY way to disable it is to flip the silent switch on the left hand side of the phone. This is extremely annoying for some people (like trax, kirt, and myself). For what we pay for Apple products and, in particular, this phone, we simply didn't expect to have to deal with such annoyances. That's why we're Mac users. Please fix this bug.
I feel like I shouldn't have to say this but it bears repeating: turning off message sounds from the 'sounds' menu does not fix his problem. It still emits the swoosh noise. Whoever suggested this clearly didn't try it because it obviously doesn't work. Who posts a solution to a problem without knowing for a fact that their solution is correct? I find that response condescending because he writer is assuming we're not smart enough to have tried it. In reality, it's vice versa.

Good question!
Blue messages are iMessage conversations (Apple's messaging service)
Green messages are SMS - standard text messages.
SMS is the acronym for Short Message Service.
MMS is the acronym for Multimedia Message Service (audio, pictures, video can be added to messages).
With MMS turned on, you will see a little camera icon in the bottom left corner of your screen when you are in the Messages app. Also you will see the word iMessage where you type your text.

Error Invalid Number message when sending text

Ever since I upgraded to an iPhone 5s I get an Error Invalid Number message when sending a text to a phone number that used to work just fine from my 4s. In fact I can receive a text from this number but when I try to reply to that text I get the error message again.
I deleted the contact info in case there was something broken there and I'm trying it with just the raw phone number but without any luck. What can I do? It's my boss's number so it's important I fix this problem. All other contacts and texts are working just fine, it's just this one phone, a Samsung galaxy on T-mobile if that helps.

I am having the same exact issue with my Nokia Lumia 920 Windows phone. I was texting my son this morning when one text immediately returned a "+1 (112) 161-1611 Error Invalid Number. Please re-send u sing a vlid 10 digit mobile number" message. His contact info looked fine, but I edited it, re-saved it and tried texting again. Same result - except the number reported in the error message showed 2 "1s" in front of his mobile number. I was able to text my wife a couple of times to report this to her and then it happened with her number in exactly the same manner. I am still able to text people I work with - so this leads me to believe it has something to do with phone numbers that have been saved outside of my corporate contact list. I will be monitoring this posting to see if there is a fix.

When sending a text message I receive an error code stating I need to enter a valid ten digit number. I enter the correct ten digits but still receive an error message. What can I do to fix?

Check Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically = "On".
Check Settings > General > International and make sure all settings there are correct.

I have an Iphone 5 that is about 6 months old (my husband has the same phone/same age as we both received through work) and I am having issues recently (approx for a month) where I cannot send text messages. It sends to about 90% and then just hangs and hangs and hangs until I get a message saying it failed and to try again. My husband can use his phone and send a message to the same number and it goes through immediately. I can use my Ipad and send the message to the same person and it goes immediately as well. What is wrong with my phone? This is now occuring at least twice a day and is becoming more and more frustrating. Any help or advice please?

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Mystery Contacts when sending Text

When I start typing a number in to send a text message to - a whole lost of contacts that were at some point on my phone show up - how do I get rid of these contacts?

If you mean in the Messages app then there is no apparant way. iOS introduced this ability with the Mail app though... if a recent name pops up that's not in your contacts a blue arrow will be on the right which you can tap for more options cinluding the ability to remove it from the list.

Yep, that should solve your problem... if any aren't set, it should ask you to confirm which number to send to.

"Network Not Responding" when sending texts

I can receive texts, but suddenly I can't send them. No changes were made to the phone. I sent a text at around 9am just fine, but at 11am my texts wouldn't go through.
I have tried:
turning the phone off and on
Removing the battery for 30 seconds while the phone is off
Removing the battery for 30 seconds while the phone is on
*228 option 1
*228 option 2
turning the phone off and on, calling my own number, and hanging up
I have not tried making or receiving phone calls as I am over on minutes.
The phone is a Samsung Intensity. It has an internet block which has never caused problems with regular texts.
I have not changed location since before the texts stopped working.
Does anybody have any ideas?

Generally I would say it's a 3rd-party add-in problem, since you have tested in Safe Mode and not resolved it yet, please disable the anti-virus program and check the result.
I also suggest you run Scanpst.exe to repair the Outlook Data File, check if this makes a difference.

How do you get only a contacts mobile number to show up when sending text....

On the Droid, when you typed a contact in the "To" line of a text message, only their mobile number showed up. On the Droid X, all contacts phone numbers show up. Very annoying. Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Check the settings for your messaging app and see if there's a show only... option. I use handcent on my Eris and I know it has the option.

Getting error when sending text to email

I get this error on my phone "messages with enhanced features cannot be sent to email". What is it talking about? These are simple word texts. I need to get them to my email for print copies.

Extended length is a msg over 160 characters in length.
You could also try the text select and copy/paste them into an email from your gmail account on the phone to the email address you are trying to email.

Phone Froze breifly when sending text with apple logo IOS7.0.3

This maybe hugely premature but i updated my phone yesterday to 7.0.3 and all seems fine. Just now i was typing a text message and as soon as i hit the send button i was greeted with a white screen and the apple logo. I left for a minute and the phone seemed to right itself. Is this somthing i should be concerned about ?.
Thought i would post this just incase someone else finds the same after upgrading. Never had this before and years of happiness using iphone.

Just got over this same situation. Called apple, they thought it needed to be sent in for repair, but it doesnt. I kept connecting it to iTunes and trying to perform the update and restore, it took me about 4-5 times to do it until my phone finally started working again. You might run into a few errors while Doing it, but it should work! Then you're going to have to "setup" your phone again.
