Suppress Section with blank Subreport.

I am trying to suppress a section when the subreport in that section is blank. Supposedly this is described in knowledgebase article c2005853. However I do not know where the knowledgebase is located. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Brent
Try to search for  SAP note # 1211338 - How to suppress a section in the main report that contains a blank subreport.
Hope this helps you.

  • Detail section with a subreport in it will not suppress when blank

    Hi all,
    I think this is an easy one because I did it before but cant get it done this time for some reason.
    I have a Detail section with a sub report in it.  %99 of the time it is blank... I have Suppress Blank Section checked but the section still shows up just taking up space.
    What did i forget to do please?
    Thanks

  • CRXI Export to text - suppressed section creates blank lines

    I'm using CRXI Proffesional - full version 11.5.11.1470
    I have a report that uses the typical "stealth" subreport to obtain and pass info to the container, but remains invisible in preview mode. The fields in the subreport are all suppressed, the sections in the subreport are suppressed if blank and the subreport itself is suppressed when blank, the section that contains the subreport is also suppressed if blank.
    This has always worked fine to get info into the container from the subreport while not creating any "white space" on the report.
    Print preview and export to pdf both function just fine, omitting the blank lines.
    It seems that exporting this to a text file is now creating blank lines for each occurence of the subreport.
    I have seen this problem in a couple of forums but have not seen a resolution yet.
    Does anybody have any idea how I can stop the exporting of suppressed blank sections ?

    Good morning.
    We've got something to get straight first
    When you say "...from the Report Viewer. The report printed as expected on HP printer...", do you mean the viewer of the .NET app, or the viewer of the CR designer?
    And version 12.0.0.683, is very old (well as far as CR is concerned anyhow   ). That version is SP 1, we are now on SP 2. So that will be the place to start. Get to SP 2 which can be downloaded from here;

  • Suppress printing of blank records

    This should be simple, but I have tried everything I can think of, and trolled through the archives, without finding an answer.  Please don't chastise me for asking a question which has already been answered, too simple, in the wrong section, or any of the other sins you regularly accuse us of...
    I am printing a series of form letters which are selected on the basis of a couple of criteria.  I want to exclude records with blank fields.  (My database supports null values, but these field entries are blanks, not nulls.  The fields are string (alphanumeric) values. My selection criteria (for the 1 month letter) are below.  The first two criteria work fine; it is in the third line that I am trying to exclude the blank records.  I have tried: {LetterEnt.Gr_LastName}<>"",  {LetterEnt.Gr_LastName}<>" ", and then I got clever and tried the entry below.  None of these work.
    {LetterEnt.Letter1} = "X" and
    {LetterEnt.Site} = "Q" and
    Length({LetterEnt.Gr_LastName})>0

    +Message: AFAIK, if there are no records, there are no detail sections, so
    your report must show text from other sections.+
    (Is AFAIK some sort of "geek code" (in which case you have gone completely over my head), or are you addressing somebody by that name?  (My name is David).)
    If there are no records, there are indeed detail sections - with blank address fields.  See my previous more detailed exposition of the exact nature of the problem.
    +It is also not clear what "forces" a printout.  Are you using Crystal
    Designer (my assumption since you are posing in the Crystal Report Design
    forum) or something else (Crystal Enterprise)?  Crystal Designer doesn't
    force printouts - a user must initiate the printout.+
    Am I using Crystal Designer?  I don't know.  The program is called Crystal Reports XI in my computer.  Are you suggesting that I am in fact asking my question in the wrong forum? (I would have presumed that something called "Crystal Reports Design" deals with design issues in Crystal Reports, but if I am in error, I do apologise.  Perhaps you could direct me to the more appropriate resource.)
    What "forces" a printout? You are correct insofar as the operator has to push the Print button (at least as presently functioning.  At one stage I had the letters printing out behind the scenes using an Active-X control.  This ran for 2 weeks, then fell apart and I eventually gave up trying to make it work; but that is another story.)  How does this happen?  Crystal is adding completely blank pages as the first page on some of the reports, so it is not always immediately apparent to the operator that there is a letter sitting there with a blank address.  (And this, too, is a separate issue.  I have gone through all the instructions in the knowledge base as to how to get rid of the leading blank sheet.  None of the instructions have worked, and I eventually gave up trying.  Thinking about it, I have had an awful lot of frustration with this program.  Perhaps I am unreasonable, but if I can't get something to work after 3 or 4 hours' trying, I give it up as a bad job and live with the fault.)
    +You can always suppress those other sections with a condition such as
    IsNull({some field that is never Null).+
    It is not clear to me what this means.  All the sections other than the detail section are blank - always.
    +There are 3rd-party Crystal Reports tools that allow you to skip
    processing (printing/exporting/emailing) if the report comes up with zero
    records.+
    Aha!  Am I interpreting this correctly, as saying that I cannot do what I want to do (suppress printing of letters with blank addresses) in Crystal Reports, and that to do this I need to get a third party add-on?

  • Suppressing printing of blank page

    Dear all,
    My report consists of 3 distinct sub reports. The first two sub reports should be printed as portrait on A-4 sheet while the third one should be printed as landscape A-4 . I have put the first two sub reports layout in the main section with orientation as portrait while the third one is placed in trailer section with orientation as landscape. The printing of subreports 2 and 3 is conditional. There may be case when first two sub reports get printed while we do not have third report as there is no data in the database for the same. In this case , I am still getting a blank page corresponding to the third sub report in the final report. How do I suppress this?
    Regards,
    Ranjit

    Hey dareys,
    Per PCWIZARD's suggestion in another thread,
    It may be the printer's power supply is dropping the power to the printer when it is off.  You can reset the power supply by unplugging it from both the wall and the printer for 5 minutes.

  • Suppress embedded field blank lines in Crystal Reports XI is not working

    Hi,
    We have a text box in a Crytal Reports XI report which has address information in it as follows:
    These are individual fields from the database. We check the  "suppress embedded field blank lines" option for the text box and preview it in the designer and the suppression works as expected in that when the unit field is blank the whole address line isn't suppressed. However when we run this report using the Report Viewer control in a VB.NET 2005 application the whole address line is suppressed when the unit field is blank.
    This appears to be a bug in the suppression logic when the Report Viewer is used to view a report. While yes we can embed a formula into the address line this adds extra maintenance and confusion which is not necessary as it works as expected in the report designer.
    I have seen others which are having a similiar issue and the only suggestions are to create your own suppression using formulas, etc. which is only a bandaid and is not the best solution as the suppression works as stated in the designer but not in the viewer embedded in an application. Please indicate if this is a known bug and if this issue has been addressed and fixed in a new merge module.
    We are running Crystal XI 11.5.0.313 for the report designer and have deployed the needed dlls to run the reports with our application using the CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm merge module.
    Thanks in advance for any assistance in resolving this issue!

    This is commonly seen with an Outlook add-in, such as the AVG add-in. I just ran into it again today. I removed AVG and enabled Windows Defender on a Win8 laptop with Outlook 2013, and that took care of the issue. If you must use AVG, you can disable the
    add-in and then test new emails.
    To disable the AVG add-in, this is one method:
    Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry.
          (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/            )
    in case problems occur.
    To resolve this problem, follow these steps to disable the Avgoutlook.Addin add-in. If the problem is , we recommend that you contact the vendor of the add-in to ask about an updated version of the add-in.
    Exit Microsoft Outlook if it is running.
    Start Registry Editor.
    In Windows 8
    Press the Windows logo key+R, type regedit in the Open box, and then press Enter.
    In Windows 7, 8 or Windows Vista
    Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
    Locate and then select the following registry subkey, depending on the type of Office and Windows installations that you have.
    32-bit Office plus 32-bit Windows
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\avgoutlook.Addin
    64-bit Office plus 64-bit Windows
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\avgoutlook.Addin
    32-bit Office plus 64-bit Windows
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\avgoutlook.Addin
    Right-click the LoadBehavior value, and then click Modify.
    Change the Value Data value to 0, and then click
    OK.
    Start Microsoft Outlook.
    Note To re-enable this add-in in Outlook, change the LoadBehavior value to
    3.

  • Pass Input Parameter With Blank To SSIS Get Strange Result

    Hi! I stuck for a while when executing SSIS from stored procedure with input parameter. My input value is not consistent with output one. If I pass value with blank , SSIS seems gets second part. For example , if I pass "CALL FROM SP", SSIS get
    "FROM" only.
    I use Execute SQL Task to store input parameter. Here is the SSIS snapshot.
    And here is the sp snippet
    DECLARE @Path VARCHAR(200),
    @Cmd VARCHAR(4000),
    @ReturnCode INT,
    @QUERY_STRING VARCHAR(70),
    @BATCH_NO VARCHAR(14)
    SELECT @Path = 'xxxxxx'
    SELECT @QUERY_STRING = 'CALL FROM SP'
    --BatchNo = YYYYMMDDHHMMSS
    SELECT @BATCH_NO = CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),GETDATE(),112) + REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR(8),GETDATE(),108),':','')
    SELECT @Cmd = 'DTexec /FILE "' + @Path + 'Package1.dtsx" /MAXCONCURRENT 1 /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING EW ' + '/Decrypt ALCM '
    + ' /SET \Package.Variables[User::BATCH_NO].Properties[Value];' + @BATCH_NO
    + ' /SET \Package.Variables[User::QUERY_STRING].Properties[Value];' + @QUERY_STRING
    My test are
      input parameter
     write to TESTTB correctly ?
    any error?
     execute SSIS in design mode
     CALL FROM SSIS
     YES
     execute SSIS by sp
     CALL FROM SP
     NO
     Option "FROM" is not valid.
     execute SSIS by sp
     CALL_FROM_SP
     YES
    Anyone could give me some hint ?
    Thank you so much!!

    Hi Nick,
    It occurs because an argument of the DTExec commands must be enclosed in quotation marks if it contains a space. From the dtexe (SSIS Tool): Syntax Rules section of the
    dtexec Utility (SSIS Tool) document, we can see:
    All options must start with a slash (/) or a minus sign (-). The options that are shown here start with a slash (/), but the minus sign (-) can be substituted.
    An argument must be enclosed in quotation marks if it contains a space. If the argument is not enclosed in quotation marks, the argument cannot contain white space.
    Doubled quotation marks within quoted strings represent escaped single quotation marks.
    Options and arguments are not case-sensitive, except for passwords.
    So, you need to make the value of the variable @QUERY_STRING within double quotes in the value of the variable @Cmd or remove the space within the @QUERY_STRING value.

  • Pass parameter with blank space for report ver 6

    Hi,
    I face a problem that i willing to pass the acno where it's value with blank space, for example ' 9' as parameter into my report, and assign it as v_acno. Inside the report query i add a where condition, acno >= :v_acno. When i run the report and pass acno without ' , it do not show any record. But when i run the report and pass acno with ' then able to show the records.
    for example the value i key in
    with ' = ' 9'
    without ' = 9
    So how i can solve it by pass the acno without ' but the record still able to show?

    click on app store on iphone 5 and it comes up with blank screen , after awhile the section heading at the bottom of the screen such as top charts, updates, search , etc, but the main screen body is still blank.  Seems to be trying to connect but can't.  Any ideas?   Much appreciate it.

    Do you have a case on the phone? If so, what case? If you do, then try removing the case and see if it works.
    If not, then try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone should reboot. After that, try again.

  • Fill with blanks(spaces) a VARCHAR2 type

    Thanks in advance,
    I have a VARCHAR2 type rtesta's var of length x(100 char)
    how i can fill(write) it without create a other varchar2 var that it'll be only filled with blanks(spaces). e.g
    rtesta := ' PC'||fil1||'xxx||fill2....

    I would like something as
    rtesta := ' PC'|| RPAD(null,10)||'xxx||RPAD(null,63) ...

  • Issue with blank screen HP G60-447CL Notebook PC

    Issue with blank screen  HP G60-447CL Notebook PC, I purchased warranty and have had the laptop serviced before for the same exact issue.  Same problem has come up again blank screen it has been less than five months this problem was fixed and it has started again:  blank screen white, laptop is powered on nothing else happens.  Now I cannot reach anyone.

    You're very welcome.
    I have tried many times to help folks with different drivers and nothing has worked.
    I'd say at least a dozen people have posted about this issue, and no one can fix it.
    I don't understand it either.

  • I had my screen sectioned with an application running permanently in it and have lost it, please can someone tell me how to get it to do that again? Thank you.

    Hello,
    At some point a while ago I somehow mistakenly must have clicked on something in error and suddenly my Google Analytics programme (which is shown in by bookmarks at the top of the screen) was displayed in a section of the browser window to the left - the browser screen was split into two sections, with the google analytics program running in the left section and the right section was my regular browser window where everything ran as normal.
    I have no idea how this happened, but love it and have come to really appreciate it. However I've just changed computers, operating systems and allsorts and now I've got everything back on track that window has sadly gone and I cannot find how to get it back. I've searched through every option I can find and cannot figure out how to do that again!
    Can anyone help please? :-)

    Hi jscher200,
    Thank you for your reply, sorry for the VERY late late response, but I have just figured out how to control this separate 'panel'. I find it really useful for monitoring Google Analytics in as it can just sit there running. It does have its limitations, as it's a limited size (you can't expand it to full screen view), so you can only ever see a vertical section of a website and need to scroll to look to the right or left, but I have the live view of people accessing my website running on there and if the numbers start racking up at any time, I can scroll to look and see what pages they are accessing, where they've been referred from, etc.
    To get it to work, you save a website address in the Bookmarks Toolbar and when you can see it sitting on the toolbar at the top of the screen with its little icon, right click on it then click 'properties', then tick the box 'Load this bookmark in the sidebar'. The next time you click on this bookmark to open the website, it will load in this sidebar, which looks like a separate 'window' but is immovable. You can only have one sidebar application running at a time, but can change it by right clicking on the bookmark you want to load in there and it will then change to that one next time you click on that bookmark.
    I hope this might be useful to others, as I asked for help with this on loads of forums and not one person knew that this existed - even really skilled techies!

  • Mail from Exchange 2010 mailbox - BCC to Hotmail addresses with blank To: field not hounoured

    Hi
    This feels related to a previous question
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/bec88844-79c1-4d17-bf73-9425842b22de/problem-sending-mail-with-bcc-and-without-to?forum=exchangesvrgenerallegacy but is slightly different - it just applies to Hotmail and related addresses (e.g.
    hotmail.com, hotmail.co.uk, outlook.com, live.co.uk).
    Sending from our Exchange 2010 to BCC addresses with blank To: field, the BCC is not being honoured, but just by Hotmail-related addresses. Any Hotmail-related recipient sent to in this fashion sees all their and other Hotmail-related addresses in the To:
    field. But any other addresses to other mail hosts (gmail, yahoo etc) in the same BCC list aren't shown, and recipients at the other mail hosts have a fully hidden BCC list (i.e. see no To addresses at all).
    If the To: field has an address then there is no problem - all BCC addresses are hidden for all recipients as expected.
    It feels like it is the way the header is being handled by the Hotmail MTAs. But I only see this behaviour from our Exchange 2010 servers (including test servers).
    Below are message headers from examples - anyone any ideas on this?
    Thanks,
    Gordon
    Headers from the same message sent as a BCC to a "@live.co.uk" address and "@gmail.com" address with no To: field, and below that a header of similar with a To: field.

    [email protected] and [email protected] with no To: address.
