Suppressing parameter form when calling report  (Designer 6i R4.11)

I use an action item on a Forms module to call a Reports module. This Report has one argument, and its value is provided by the Forms module. When I run the Form and press the button (= action item), the Reports parameter Form appears. How can I suppress the parameter Form since the value is provided by the Form?
Setting the display property of the argument to 'No' doesn't work.

Hi Harm,
There is one parameter called 'PARAMFORM', this is text parameter saying report
whether it has to show the Parameter form or not.
If we set this to 'NO' when calling report,i t won't show the Parameter Form.
Another way is...
Open the report and delete all the items from the Parameter form layout.
Pass all the parameters from the form. Now it wont show the parameter form.
Think it will help you.
Thanks.
Siva.

    I use Designer 6i R4.11

    I don't know how to set this in Designer, but to your action button you have to add this:
    Add_Parameter(plid,'PARAMFORM', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'NO');

  • Supressing the parameter form when calling report from form...

    Hi everybody
    I call a report from a form passing a parameter. After pressing
    the button, the runtime parameter from appears. How do I
    suppress it so that the report appears right after pressing the
    button???
    Thanks
    Serguei

    Hi Serguei ,
    You have to add a text parameter 'PARAMFORM' with the value
    'NO' to the passing parameter list.

  • No Parameter form when calling report from Forms 6i webpage

    I have my Forms 6i fmx files and Reports rep files runnung off of HP Unix
    within the same directory and yet when I call the report with RUN_PRODUCT,
    I don't get the Parameter Form popup. I left it as default at first, and then I even tried using ADD_PARAMETER(pl_id,'PARAMFORM',TEXT_PARAMETER,'HTML') to my parameter pl_id in my RUN_PRODUCT call. Can anyone tell me why I don't get a Parameter form?

    Actually if you are on the Web then you don't have much control over the format the parameter form is in, so specifying it as HTML doesn't help.
    Try paramform=yes when calling teh Report and this "temporarily" should help. The problem that you run into the is that there is nothing happening when you click the parameter form submit button. The reason is that when using Run_Product you are talking to a static HTML file generated into teh Reports temp directory with no services assigned to it.
    Check the Whitepaper under http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/pdf/277282.pdf for the options that you have.

  • Supressing Parameter form when called a report from a Form

    Hi all,
    How can I supress the Parameter Form of a Report when called from a Form. I am using RUN_PRODUCT built-in to invoke the report.
    Thanks in advance

    Pass a parameter to your report .
    the parameter name is "PARAMFORM" and the value it should have is "NO".

  • JSP HTML parameter form to call report - Dependent  drop down list

    I have a report parameter form developed using HTML & JSP to call oracle reports6i.
    First parameter "STATES", Second Parameter "CITY"
    I have a master-detail relation betwen STATE & CITY table.
    I want the parameter form drop down lists dependant. ie if the user chang STATE value in the first drop down, the second drop down list CITY shoud
    change automatically.
    Please help
    Thanks
    Vimal

    Vimal,
    This is not functionality that's available in the Reports generated parameter form. In order to do this you'll need to build the parameter form yourself as a true HTML form and code the javascript to link the fields.
    Hope this helps,
    Danny

  • Back to parameter form when report is executed

    Hi
    Is it possible to be back to the parameter form when the report is executed?
    E.g. 1 - Enter information in the parameter form,
    2 - Execute the report
    3 - Back to parameter form
    4 - ....
    5 - When all the reports processed, exit the report.
    Thank you all

    Don't know if you can do this in reports, but we have a similar requirement on our system, and we developed a form based parameter form, rather than using the reports own. We could then run as many reports as we need from the one parameter form.

  • Parameter Form in Oracle Report!!

    Dear Oracle Users' Group:
    I have problem with "Parameter Form" in Oracle Report.
    The Report that I created has the SQL:
    "SELECT A.FIELD1, A.FIELD2
    FROM MYDATABASE.MYTABLE A
    WHERE
    A.FIELD1 = :P_1";
    When the report is run, it asks for the parameter
    and generates the report based on the runtime
    parameter. Works perfect on Oracle8i database's
    Report front end.
    The PROPERTY PALETTE for the FIELD (Field that
    takes the runtime parameter) is:
    ====================
    General Information
    Name: PF_P_1
    Comments:
    Parameter Form Field
    Source: P_1
    Parameter
    Datatype: Character
    Width: 40
    Initial Value:
    Validation Trigger:
    List of Values:
    (For the list of values, I have put the SQL:
    "SELECT DISTINCT A.FIELD1 from
    MYDATABASE.MYTABLE A", Also I had
    tried with list of fixed values like A, B, C)
    Web Setting
    Additional Attributes (HTML):
    ================
    But the report does NOT work when called from the Web.
    (This is only because of the problem with this Parameter
    Form in my report. If I get rid of the parameter form by
    changing the last line of my SQL to: "A.FIELD1 = 'Chicago'",
    it works fine from the Web).
    When accessed the report from the Web, the error I get
    is:
    Oracle Reports Server CGI - Report Job has terminated with this error.
    Reports Server Replies:
    REP-0788: Warning: The value of restricted LOV parameter P_1 is not among the selectable values.
    I do not know what is the error with this simplest Parameter Form based Report!!
    In the Property Palette (above) of the Field, there was a field named "Additional Attributes (HTML)"
    under "Web Setting" heading.
    Do I need to write something there!!
    Please help!!
    thanks.
    kimmy

    Hi, Kimmy
    Try: &paramform=yes]http://webserver.com:80/dev60cgi/rwcgi60.exe?server=repserver&report=rep1&userid=scott/tiger@orcl&destype=cache&desformat=htmlcss&paramform=yes
    I've also sent you an email about key maps.
    Enjoy! Web Reporting is a great feature.

    'FINISH SUCCESSFULLY'
    has anybnody any idea ?

    If this is a 'paper' report then =yes has always worked for me as long you have parameters declared in the report.
    Description Use PARAMFORM to specify whether to display the Runtime Parameter
    Form when you execute a report through CGI or a servlet. PARAMFORM is used only to
    supply parameters to paper layout reports, not JSP-based Web reports.
    Syntax PARAMFORM=YES|NO|HTML
    Values

  • Parameter form for web report

    Hello,
    Using rwservlet on the web I can specify paramform=yes and I'll get a parameter form for my reports, which is really handy as it saves me from having to build my own forms. However when I run JSPs directly I cannot seem to get the automated form. Am I missing something obvious or is the parameter form just not available when you run JSPs directly?
    Cheerio,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
    The description of the command line keyword PARAMFORM in Publishing Reports manual says:
    Use PARAMFORM to specify whether to display the Runtime Parameter Form when you execute a report via CGI or a servlet. PARAMFORM is used only to supply parameters to paper layout reports, not Web source reports.
    For JSP reports you need to create an HTML parameter form which calls the JSP and submits the parameters selected.
    You can find Reports documentation (incl Publishing Reports here):

  • Difference between AFTER PARAMETER FORM and BEFORE REPORT in Reports 6i

    Hi Aii,
    What is the difference between AFTER PARAMETER FORM and BEFORE REPORT in Reports 6i.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Balu

    Hi Balu.,
    As per my findings the After Parameter is fired after the Parameters are given to the report and Before Report fires when the queries are parsed and data is fetched.

  • Alternatives to long parameter lists when calling methods

    I've heard you shouldn't have more than 3 parameters when calling methods. What are the alternatives to long parameter lists when calling methods? Compounding parameters into new inner classes, declaring them as member fields? Which one is preferable?

    Okay, I get it. But since it's late in the day, I'll share my additional wandering thoughts. And I'll just go ahead and preemptively slap myself for doing so. Ouch! There. So the rules are more like this:
    1) Only use setters if the values in question are meant to be part of the state of an object.
    2) In general, don't let external entities directly set the state of an object.
    Which can be combined into:
    1) In general, never use setters.
    Which could be reworded to:
    1) Only use setters in non-general situations.
    Or:
    1) Only use setters when setters are a good solution...which isn't very often...generally speaking...
    Or if I were to infer when it's a good solution:
    1) Only use a setter when it is useful to the caller and has no significant negative effects on the operation of the object nor the maintainability, size, or performance of the class...generally speaking...
    Actually, you might just infer from here forward that the "generally speaking" is implicit to every rule, and is essentially the "There is an exception to every rule" rule. Which is an interesting rule because it can be applied to itself, resulting in a paradox...generally speaking...but I digress.
    And then translated back to the original topic:
    1) You can use a setter instead of a constructor argument so long as the value isn't needed at time of construction (or a default value will suffice) and it is useful for the caller to be able to use the setter and using the setter has no significant negative effects on the operation of the object nor the maintainability, size, or performance of the class.
    But this won't quite cut it either. With the input of others, we could eventually devise a very concise rule, but it will end up being so long that on one will ever read it...making it an ideal candidate to be included in a legal document. Which will eventually find it's way into a very long scroll pane with a check box at the end exclaiming that you read the document, at which you will not be able to continue unless you check the check box...at which point, what do you do? After all, you are not a liar...generally speaking...
    In summary, you could potentially use setters in some limited cases, but in the general sense, that's more of an option than a recommendation. :-)

  • Running forms and calling reports generates a lot of files

    could anyone help me on this one...
    I have a form that the users use, on that form I call reports.
    Now I don't know (forms? or reports?) what keeps creating files
    on the directory they run the form....there is a lot (over 200
    files) files that get created, most of them are 0KB size, the
    rest is not understandable. And there are 3 types of file names:
    1-02120151 (only the number change, and most of them are 0kb)
    2-dat00356482 (these ones start by dat.....the rest changes also.
    3-idx25410224 (these also change the numbers but the idx is
    always there.)
    is there anything i can do, i keep deleting them but they never
    stop get created....what could happen?
    i use forms 4.5.

  • Parameter Form not calling the Main report - Gives REP-0110, REP-1070, REP-0110 error

    I am using run_report_object to call a report in which the user has to input some paramters. I have followed the instructions as in the Oracle White paper document on Forms/Reports integration.
    The paramter report does come up but when I hit the submit button, I get an error
    REP-0110: Unable to open file 'rclug005'.
    REP-1070: Error while opening or saving a document.
    REP-0110: Unable to open file 'rclug005
    I've checked the privileges and everything's fine on that front. Also, I can get to open the report with the web.show document built-in with paramform setting = No.
    I am guessing something's wrong with the html constructed in the parameter form which is,
    <form method=post action="http://myserver/dev60cgi/RWCGI60.EXE?">
    <input name="hidden_run_parameters" type=hidden value="server=myserver &report=rclug005&destype=Cache&desformat=html&userid=uid/pwd@test">
    In the Report Before Form trigger, I've copied the foll. html code from the Oracle White paper,
    vc_parameter_form :=
    '<html><body bgclor="ffffff"><form method=post action="'||:p_action||'">'||
    '<input name="hidden_run_parameters" type=hidden
    value= "'||vc_hidden_runtime_values||'">'||'<center><p>
    <table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0><tr><td>
    <input type=submit></td><td> width=15
    <td><input type=reset></td></tr></table><p><hr></p>';
    I've set the :p_action parameter to a value of http://myserver/dev60cgi/RWCGI60.EXE?
    Also, In the end of the report before form trigger I added this
    srw.set_before_form_html(srw.text_escape, vc_parameter_form);
    Any help/tips is appreciated & Thanks.

    Thanks Danny,
    I am building the variable exactly as in the White paper in the "before form" trigger using exactly the same values give there.
    vc_hidden_runtime_values := 'server='||:p_servername||'&report='||vc_report_name||'.rep&destype='||:destype||'&desformat='||:desformat||'&userid='||:p_userinfo;
    My report has some extra parameters too it expects. So do I have to include the names of those parameters too in the string above?
    For example, in my report a user parameter is named 'print_date', which I do see and populate with value in the parameter form, then do I have to build that in the vc_hidden_runtime_values string above.
    I am using Report 6.0.8.11.3 on 9iAS.
