Suppressing results

Is it possible to suppress a drill-down on a selected row in a row structure?
Eg, a sales report might have the following row structure:-
Sales A
Sales B
Sales C
Sales D
Total
If we add a drill-down (say, profit centre), how can the drill-down be supressed on "Total".  We only want the drill-down to happen on A, B, C & D.  (we don't want the "Total" row to repeat the drill-down for A-D).
Regards, Frederick

Thanks Jaya for your reply... however, I still don't get the correct result because I need "Total" to remain as one row (ie, so that it doesn't show drill-down values), while A,B,C etc should show drill-down values and total...
I am not using a hierarchy.  I am using a row structure with four nodes (A,B,C,D) plus total.  When right clicking to add a drill-down on profit centre, we only want drill-down values on the four nodes (not the "Total").
I will spend more time trying to understand the LEAF operator, because this is new to me, and may solve the problem with correct application... unfortunately the BW help screen provides only very limited information on this operator...

Frederick

  • How to change default for Suppress Results Rows

    Hi,
Does any one know a way to change the default value for the "Suppress Results Rows" from "Never" to "Always" under characteristic properties in a BEX query?
Every time we build a new query we have to go to each characteristic and change most of them to "Always". Want this to be a system wide change that would affect all new queries or existing queries that are being modified by adding new characteristics.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
This property is controlled by domain RRXNOSUMS. You can change the default value to point from "Blank" to "U", I suppose. Haven't tried this though and I am not sure if it is okay to play around with the SAP settings. But if it works for you, do post back.
    Hope this helps...

  • How to suppress Result rows in a Query in Web Application Designer

    Hi
I am trying to post a query in Web Application Designer. I am able to run the query in WAD but the Results rows appear. I choose Suppress Result Rows always in All Characteristics option in the query in BEx Explorer but still i see result rows in the WAD. Can anyone please let me know how to suppress Result rows so that they dont appear in Web Application Designer.
    Thanks,
    Padma

    To get the enhanced menu-
    1. Open the template in WAD.
    2. Go to Web Item properties.
    3. Go to Entries in Context Menu.
    4. Find the "Enhanced Menu" property. Set it to "display" if you want it to be visible in template result.
    5. Next time when you execute your template you will be able to access it by right clicking.
    or
If you just want to supress results without adding enhanced menu in the context menu, simply set "Calculate result as" to "No Display".

  • Simple but strange behaviour of "suppress result rows"

    Hi,
In one of the Query, for all the characteristics, the result rows are suppressed but strangely when i execute it on web i see the result row is getting dispalyed for one char.
But when i go back and check my query designer, for every char i see suppress result row is set to Always...but i don't know why it is not reflecting on the web
Now can any one please suggest how to suppress this on web permanently..
Note:on the Web we can select the char and right click and change this feature in properties but it is a one time actitivity,Becuase when we try to execute the report once gain the result row again appreaing!!!
when we execute the same report in BEx analyzert eh result rows is NOT shown up but only in web it is apprearing
    Is there any permanent way????????

    Hi Swapna,
If you get the same behaviour after reopening the Web Template, you can use command "SET_RESULT_VISIBILITY" to suppress the result rows of that characteristic at Web Template level.
Check this link for more details.

  • How to Suppress result rows for ALL Characteristic within BEX Analyzer

    HI,
We Currently upgrade from BEX 3.5 to BEX 7.
In BEX 3.5 Analyzer  there was an option by right clicking on a Characteristic and then going to "All Characteristic" and then "Suppress all  Result Rows."
In BEX 7 Analyzer it seems that you can only suppress result rows one characteristic at a time.  Is there a way in BEX 7 Analyzer  to suppress ALL characteristic at once.  The same as BEX 3.5.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
in 7x Analyzer,  surpressing the results & Filtering  is specific to characteristic. and this feature is more advanced and useful than the at a time surpress,
even i fyou go to the Query Properties, it will allow you to surpress by characteristic only instead of at a time.
    Hopes it is clear

  • "Suppress result row" leads to run-time error 429

    Hi all,
In the BEx query designer, when I try to change the result row display from never to always in 0CALDAY, I get the following error message:
Run-time error 429, AcitveX component can't create object.
Does anybody know how to solve this issue?

  • Suppress Overall result (both rows and columns side and its data)

    Hello all,
I need to do some settings in BEx Query Designer, so that In BEx Analyzer, I don't see 'overall result' both on 'rows' and 'column' sides
This is what I have done so far
In 'rows' section, Properties of my KF (no. Products) then 'calculation' tab 'calculate result as'=Suppress result
This way in BEx Analyzer I don't see the FIGURES/DATA for 'Result' and 'overall result' BUT 'result' and 'overall result' still exist both on rows and colum side even if there are not figures in them.
Is there any property in BEx Designer so that I don't see 'overall result' at all
    Best regards
    Ahmad

    thanks for responding
selecting a characteristic, properties, Display tab, Result lines: Always Suppress
with this I don't see 'result'
but 'overall result' result exist both on 'rows' and 'column' side alongwith its data.
If I combine the above with this: selecting KF, properties, calucations, Calculate result as: Suppress result
    then
I don't see the data in 'overall result' BUT 'overall result' still exist both on rows and column sides
any setting so that 'overall result' completely vanishes
    Best regards

  • Warning Message - Conditions with Result Rows Suppress

    Hi All
I created a query with conditions and 'Suppress Result Rows - always '. When I run the query in Bex, I get this warning message showing me that conditions exist with result rows suppressed '. Is there a way to avoid getting this warning message.
    Thanks

    Hi Krishna,
If you want to suppress the message for all users centrally for this particular query, you can do so in RSRT. Put in your query technical name and click on the Messages Button. Check as required to suppress.

  • How to hide the all rows except the result row in a report?

    Hi Experts,
We have a report in which the user is interested to see only the result rows and I need to HIDE the characteristics in the rows. I was successfull in doing the same for Key figures in columns using "Calculate single value as suppress result". But I am not finding a way out to hide the characteristics in the rows.
If I move the characteristics in rows to Free characteristics, the result row is not getting dispalyed. Also, the characteristics are  used dynamically by the formulae in columns and hence i cant remove these characteristics from the query. . The user wants the query to contain only one characteristic in the row and the result row for the key figures in columns. The report currently displays Invoice level data for each customer and this needs to be eliminated and it should display the summarised  data for every customer. Please suggest how this can be accomplished
    Regards,
    Kavitha

Moving the char to free char will show the equivalent of result.
Your issue likely is that this breaks the calculations since you do want the calculations done at detail level.
To achieve this, move your char to free char (say it is 0CUSTOMER).
For the CKF/Formula, go to aggregation tab, set the exception aggregation as Total (or whatever it was in standard behavior) and specify reference characteristic (in this case 0CUSTOMER), also check the 'Before aggregation' if you have that checkbox there.
This will ensure the calculation is done at detail level even though the char is not included in the rows.
If you have multiple chars to be moved to free char but included in detailed calculation, you will need to build cascading CKFs (CKF1 with ref char1, CKF2 eq to CKF1 with exception aggr on ref char2...and so on).
    Added:
I understand you do want 0CUSTOMER in there, but something else (let us say 0DOCNO) removed. Use 0DOCNO in place of 0CUSTOMER in the case described above.

  • BW Report  - Issue with Results.

I have a characteristic with hierarchy attached. When displaying the report, I am not able to create results (totals) for this characteristic. I have set 'Suppress Results Row' for this field as 'Never', but still my report doesn't display the results at this level.
Is it a limitation or is there any work around for this?
    Thanks.

    Hi
You can get result rows at each control break of charaterstics values and if you r showing the attributes with char there should not be problem. it should show attribute and show result row on char value change.
And if you are using Hier u have to go to char level of hier to see those result rows
right click on your report and chose "Expand Hierarchy" to lowest level
    Thanks

  • Results not displayed when driling across

    Dear all,
We have just upgraded succesfully to BW 7.31 (SP12).
We now have observed a strange behavior in BEX queries.
We have reports for which we suppress results in BEX. This is a general setting.
Now, users have observed, that when they take 0CALMONTH into the report and drill this across and they set 0CALMONTH to "display ALL results, these results are not being displayed.
But when drilling 0calmonth DOWN, the results are being displayed.
Furthermore, when I select the option "show results with more than one value", then I get results displayed.
I have checked and reproduced this behavior in our new 7.31 environment and compared it towards the old environment(luckily we have had a sandbox for emergencies, which is still on the elder release (7.2x)), and there it works fine. Result rows are being displayed in drill across as well as in drilldown.
Our reports are being shown in the BI Portal.
So tried running the query directly in BEX. I still get that behavior with results not being displayed.
I then tried to run the report in RSRT and - surprise, surprise - here it behaves correctly.
Has anyone an idea, how we can "restore" the "normal" behavior?
    Regards
    Greg

    Hi Greg,
Can you clarify , have you seen this issue before upgrade ? or only after upgrade and in which system you are trying this report that means either production, quality or development. If you are facing the issue only after upgrade then you have raise OSS note to SAP team, they will give you the permanent fix. later you will move the changes to via transport from one system to other system.
If you have any queries, please get back to me.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
In Query Designer, I have put the Characteristic Plant, Cost Centre, Person in the Row. In the Column, I entered Characteristic Period, then KF Amout under it.
