Supress Taskbar Notification for Task Sequence

Hi,
We have some optional Task sequences, OSD etc.
We need to stop the icon appearing in the taskbar notification area telling people that things are ready to install.
In 2007, there was a VBS I ran to stop this, but can't see anything for 2012!?
Anyone help?
Peter

Hi Peter,
you can suppress it from the task sequence properties - Advanced Tab - Enable check box "Suppress task sequence notifications".

    I've seen this on a few of the Surface Pro 3's we got in recently. It is because you need to update the date/time in the OS. The easiest way to do this is to
    (1) Make sure you have command support enabled in your boot image.
    (2) Before you start your image process from the boot image, press (Fn + F8)
    (3) At the command prompt, check your date/time.
    (4.a) Type cd x:\windows\system32
    (4.b) Type date the current date is displayed, it's most likely off. It will prompt you to change the date using the mm-dd-yy format, change to the current date there, press enter
    (4.c) Type the Time the current time is displayed (24 hour time), key in the current time press enter
    (5) Start your imaging process, all should be well
    Excellent advice!!! For me, even though I had already booted the OS on my SP3, fully updated the firmware and restarted about 6 different times, I still would get a failure when the Boot image started to load. I followed these instructions and I was good to
    good. I'm just floored to see that my date and time were off by 3 days and 11 hrs, even though my OS was correct. I'm flabbergasted that this was the case. Thanks for the post! Helped me a lot!

  • Sccm 2012 simulate deployment for task sequence / OS or applications

    Hi
    I have been getting a lot of problems with Os/Application Task Sequences and have been asked a few questions.
    I cannot find anything on the Web about Limitations for a simulated deployment in SCCM 2012.
    I know SCCM allows you to create them but does it work/Are the results accurate?
    I need to know the following:
    Can you simulate an OS Deployment Task Sequence?
    Can you simulate an Application Deployment Task Sequence?
    Are there limitations to Simulated Deployments?
    Thanks guys Hope this makes sense and you can help.
    Regards
    Anthony

    If you have the MDT integration with SCCM 2012 you can simulate the settings used by the task sequence, but not the actual task sequence deployment. However, seeing the settings is often enough.

  • Operating System Package Section Window is blank for Task Sequence

    Trying to create a capture and build sequence. I have added Win7 x64 to the 'Operating System Installers' section. But when going into 'Create Task Sequence' I dont have any operating systems to select. (see screenshot).
    Only info I found on the web references to beta versions of SCCM 2012. I added server is SCCM 2012 R2 Update 1. (version 5.00.7958.1000).
    Any Suggestions?

    During the Create Task Sequence Wizard, this step requires to use a
    Operating System Image (a WIM file) and not a Operating System Installer.
    An Operating System Installer can only be used by editing the task sequence after the wizard.

  • Application support for OSD Task sequence

    Hi
    An Application with Priority 2 deployment type as “Only when a used is logged in” and Priority 1 deployment type as “whether or not a  user logged in”.In this case ,We are not able to include the applications in task sequence.
    These circumstance makes OSD related applications needs to be duplicated for Task sequence support.
    Please guide to make an  application to support Task sequence and as well user interacion(software center) with diffrent deployment type..
    Thanks

    Hi
    I am not able to include application in Task Sequence on below condition.
    Priority 2 deployment type as “Only when a used is logged in” and Priority 1 deployment type as “whether or not a  user

  • MDT 2013: Wizard Pages by Task Sequence

    Hi,
    I believe what I am trying to do is not possible from previous readings on this forum, BUT then I see something in my MDT 2013 OSD wizard that seems to indicate there might be a way to get it done. So here goes.
    For my own demos, I am trying to develop a deployment share that is much like Johan Arwidmark's hydration kit. Some machines, like a domain controller or a SQL cluster are all well-defined: computer names, IP addresses, etc. are fixed and can be set
    in customsettings.ini or in the Task Sequence with variables. However, I would also like the ability to have to deploy a "generic" machine where I can select roles, applications, etc.
    This would require having different wizard pages shown for different task sequences. From what I've read, this may not be possible without developing a custom wizard (and that might be too much effort). However, I currently have two task sequences and depending
    on which one I select, I see a different number of steps to complete? See screenshots. I don't know what I have currently configured that makes it like that.
     (when I select "Domain Controller 01" task sequence) (Task sequence ID "DC01")
     (when I select the "generic" task sequence)
    Below is my customsettings.ini [the only rules file I have].
    [Settings]
    Priority=TaskSequence,Default
    [Default]
    _SMSTSORGNAME=Demo Deployment
    OSInstall=Y
    SkipCapture=YES
    SkipAdminPassword=YES
    AdminPassword=P@ssw0rd!
    SkipProductKey=YES
    SkipComputerBackup=YES
    SkipBitLocker=YES
    EventService=http://192.168.232.1:9800
    SkipUserData=YES
    SkipTaskSequence=NO
    SkipTimeZone=YES
    SkipBitLocker=YES
    SkipSummary=YES
    SkipFinalSummary=NO
    FinishAction=SHUTDOWN
    SkipLocaleSelection=YES
    HideShell=YES
    [DC01]
    _SMSTSORGNAME=DC01 Deployment
    SkipComputerName=YES
    OSDComputerName=DC01
    SkipDomainMembership=YES
    JoinWorkgroup=DEMO
    SkipRoles=YES
    I would expect the settings for task sequence "DC01" to be applied after I select that task sequence in the wizard. That doesn't seem to work. The first task in the sequence is a "Gather" task that gathers local data and processes customsettings.ini.
    I understand I can't override most settings from [Default] because they would have already been processed but as you can see, that's not what I am actually trying.
    I am not opposed to having multiple rules files if that would work. However, it seems like that doesn't make much difference when it comes to actually seeing different wizard steps active. I've tried adding a second customsettings_dc01.ini file and having
    a Gather step that specifically references that file in the "Initialize" group.
    I've considered some alternatives to making it work this way, such as having multiple deployment shares and "linking" them (although I haven't done this before) so I wouldn't have to copy all the applications.
    I would also set the computer name and all in the task sequence using variables, but that still doesn't address the problem.
    Any insight is appreciated,
    SA.

    SpeedBird186 - There are several assumptions going on here.
    1. by default MDT processes the CS.ini file *before* the wizard, and *after* the Task sequence has started. If you want CS.ini file to be processed just *after* you select your TS in the wizard, use Johan's trick above.
    2. There are about 20 different wizard pages, and they don't appear in *all* scenarios. the wizard framework will attempt to do an intelligent job of filtering out pages that are not relevant to the scenario at hand. For example, in the graphic above, you
    can see that the OS roles and Features page will appear/disappear. This can happen for example if the task sequence you selected earlier does or does *not* have a "OS Roles and Featrues" step in the Task sequence.
    3. For me, the easiest way to process roles would be to create some new "Applications" and to put them in a folder.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Task Sequence to Restart Computers

    This is a simple question but I cannot seem to get it right.
    I am working on Monthly Maintenance plan for my servers and I cannot seem to get it right, any help would greatly appreciate it.
    I have Server collections for all OS's (2003, 2008...2012 R2) with maintenance windows for all deployments daily 8PM to 5am.
    I have ADRs setup to run and evaluate the last Thursday of the month to install updates on my machines.
    I have 4 collections created for Server Reboot 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th with Maintenance Window Monthly for the last Friday/Saturday 8PM - 5AM for Task Sequences Only
    I created a Task Sequence called Server Reboot by doing the following:
    Create Task Sequence>Custom Task Sequence>Add x86 Boot Image file
    In the TS I click Add>General>Restart Computer, Add message "Computer will restart............"
    When the Task Sequence runs it does not display the message nor does it reboot the computer, what am I doing wrong?
    Basically I want to install updates on the Last Thursday of the month to my servers, Last Friday of the Month through Saturday morning I want to restart the servers to finish applying the updates, etc.
    What is the best way to accomplish this? Thanks for any suggestions or help!

    I concur with Torsten and narcoticoo -- using a simple package is better.
    One thing you noted however is the use of multiple maintenance windows. Maintenance Windows are not in any way specific to just the deployments on the collection where the MW is applied. MWs are applied to the clients in the collection and the client enforces
    them on *all* deployments it is assigned. Collections are strictly used by the site to build policies -- which include deployments and MWs among other things but not any collection information. Those policies are then delivered to the clients who enforce them
    without regard to collections at all.

  • Email notifications for UWL items from the GP System

    Hi,
    How can I activate the notifications for tasks created in UWL, but by connector type?
    I know that the notifications can be activated in System Administration » System Configuration » UWL » Workflow » Engine | Mail, the problem is this will be applied to all notifications from all connectors, and I only want to apply to connector of Guided Procedures, and not to tasks to connector of ECC system.
    Thanks,
    John

    I'm not aware of any setting to prevent the Apple's receipt to be sent.
    If you bought a mix of purchase item and free item, the will appears on the same receipt. Instead of considering them as spam, you can consider them as "a way to recall which apps you dowloaded in case something wrong happen".
    Personally, I have created a folder called "receipts" and simply send these mails to this folder.

  • Setup windows and ConfigMgr task sequence failing.

    Hi,
    Am trying to create a reference Windows 7 task sequence and the task sequence is failing at the 'Setup Windows and ConfigMgr' task.
    There are a lot of threads regarding this step and in particular that as the machine is in a workgroup it cannot install the SCCM client successfully. As recommended on other posts have added SMSLP= and SMSMP= into the Installation properties.
    The task sequence is still failing and am unable to make much of the logs.
    Will post the errors if anyone can assist?.

  • TASK Sequence Package Comparison Report

    Hi,
    Would be great if someone could figure this one out.
    I have a report that checks a Task Sequence and lists the packages called within the Task Sequence(No probs).  What I want is to compare this with another Task Sequence using the TS name. I
    want to show the packages that are different.
    I tried creating two identical queries using two different variables, and using the Except command.
    Doesn't really work.  Would it be better using a subquery ?
    We use Task Sequences with large amounts of packages assigned.
    Cheers

    couple of reports on task sequence packages and its referenced used . make use of them to write subselected query to identify packages which exist in TS1 but not in TS2 (task sequence 2).

  • Task Sequence fails on "Apply Driver Package" when PXE-booting but not with bootable media

    I have an issue where my Task Sequence fails during 'Apply Driver Package' when PXE-booting but works ok when booting from CD or USB-stick. It fails withe error code 0x80070002 and when pressing F8 and checking the ipconfig there's a 169.254.x.x address.
    Somehow it looses it's real ip during the process.
    I'm grateful for any advice!

    Please enable verbose logging for Task sequence, then upload the smsts.log to Skydrive.
    0x80070002 error is too generic, which cannot be used to determine the cause.

  • Task Sequence Stops at UDI Wizard

    Im using configmgr 2012 R2 with MDT integration.  I have a task sequence that is getting stuck on the UDI wizard stage.  In the progress bar it just gets stuck at UDI Wizard and gets no further.  the smsts log stops at "mapping server
    share"  the user logged in has permissions to that drive and I can browse it.
    I have used this udi wizard in other task sequences before.  any ideas on where to look?
    log file located at
    http://www.filedropper.com/smsts11

    I'm having a pretty similar problem.  I have a task sequence to capture user state and at the end, there is a section to copy logs. The task sequence just stops there.
    The last line in smsts.log is "Mapping server share: \\server\share$".
    The last line in zticopylogs.log is "Mapping server share: \\server\share$".
    The last few lines in BDD.log are...
    Microsoft Deployment Toolkit version: 6.2.5019.0 Wizard 2/21/2014 1:49:50 PM 0 (0x0000)
    The task sequencer log is located at C:\WINDOWS\CCM\Logs\SMSTSLog\SMSTS.LOG.  For task sequence failures, please consult this log. Wizard 2/21/2014 1:49:50 PM 0 (0x0000)
    Not Wizard = True Wizard 2/21/2014 1:49:50 PM 0 (0x0000)

    Validate Against UNC: \\server\share$ Wizard 2/21/2014 1:49:50 PM 0 (0x0000)
    It hangs pretty much indefinitely.  I'm really stumped on this one because there aren't error codes or anything else to look up.

  • Service Pack for Proliant installing successfully but returning failure in OSD task sequence

    Building bare metal servers with SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2 OSD and running into an issue with HPs where they attempt to install the Service Pack for Proliant 2013.02.0.  I am using a package with a program.  Here is the program command line:
    Hpsum.exe /use_latest /allow_non_bundle_components /current_credential /silent
    The application installs successfully but there is a distinct delay and then errors thrown that fails the TS.  Setting 'continue on error' is a work around but not what I want to have in the production environment.  How can I get around this issue?
     This is the same exact package and program that ran perfectly fine in SCCM 2007, but we are seeing this as a new issue since the migration to SCCM 2012.
    I'd like to solve this issue as well as get rid of the "Waiting for job status notification....InstallSoftware"
    Any suggestions?

    Hello Guys!
    HP ProLiant Support Pack / Service Pack uses different Exit Codes, due to that this software support other operating systems than Windows. Therefore HP has standardized to use other Exit Codes, which Windows Detect as failures.
    HPSum Exit Codes:
    ExitCode 1 = "Installation Successful"
    ExitCode 2 = "Installation Successful, but a reboot is required"
    ExitCode 3 = "Installation was canceled, or no components were updated"
    EcitCode 9009 = "Installation did not complete.  Check the path and make sure that the Installation exists at the specified location"
    HP recommends to use following Batch File to workaround this issue for SCCM:
    =======================START_BatchFile=============================
    :Init
      @Echo Off
      Cls

  • Task Sequence If Statement for chosen DomainOUs ?

    In my CustomSettings.ini I have five different "DomainOUs" lines which prompt whoever is running the Task Sequence to select an Org Unit while they're putting in the Computer Name.
    To keep things as simple as possible, I'd like a single Task Sequence that includes multiple "Install Application" packages which get installed based on which OU the machine is in. Can
    I use the "Options" tab of my various "Install Application" packages with
    an "If Statement" that applies it based on which "DomainOUs" was
    chosen earlier?
    I know I can make five separate Task Sequences for each OU and have the five different "Install Application" packages in them, but I'd like to avoid that as when I go to
    update a common app, I'd have to do that in all five Task Sequences as opposed to one.

    You can add an XML file with only the Language settings, that will bypass the language selection prompt.
    Bear in mind that when you create the answer file with Windows System Image Manager, you have to use the same architecture (64 or 32) as the target image.
