Surface RT Windows 8 - Install Issue

I am using a Surface RT with Windows 8.  Am I not able to download flashplayer/adobe?

Flash Player is included as a built-in component for Internet Explorer on Windows 8 and higher.  Updates are delivered via Windows Update.
If Flash isn't working in IE, it's probably because IE has changed both how it identifies itself to remote websites, and how it processes JavaScript intended to target Internet Explorer.
You can add sites to compatibility mode to work around those issues until content developers can revise their content to conform to Microsoft's new perspectives on how content should be developed for IE.

  • Installing software, windows install issue

    Hi,
I recently taken over my dads laptop but cannot completely wipe it due to no access to some of the software installation discs etc but it means that several things that should have been fairly straight forward are not as easy as you'd think.
I'm having a problem installing the blackberry desktop software for PC. I can download the file which comes up as 610 b034_multilanguage.exe when i double click it appears to unzip the file it then comes up with the language option to select in Windows Install Shield Wizard, then configuring the windows installer with the Blackberry screen in the background. It then simply comes up with a box ' windows installer' with a scroll box with all sorts of info then only an 'ok' option box. If you select that the box closes and nothing happens. The install hasn't finished (or hasn't started in the first place) it isnt listed in the programs list, and the software is no where to be seen.
    Someone please help!!??

  • K9A Platinum Raid Drivers, Windows Install Issue

I unzipped the "ATI IDE RAID" driver to a floppy, but I can't get the windows install to recognize it.  It just goes to the "Please insert the disk labeled 'Manufacturer-supplied hardware suppor disk' into Drive A: and press ENTER" screen.  I'm not sure what's wrong, as everything is connected, am I doing something wrong making the disk?

Yeah, I've used two different ones, and they both work fine on the computer I'm writing them with, I was wondering if you had to mess with the files, like put them all in the same folder or somesuch (I've tried that), or if you just unzipped to the diskette (tried that too).  Is there cause to suspect the drive itself at this point?

  • Windows xp itunes install issue

I am attempting to install Itunes using Windows XP at Service Pack 3 with all the security updates installed. The instal begins and during the final process of setup, I receive the following error message and the Itunes instal backs out and stops.
Error message, " These is a problem with this Windows Installer package. Aprogram run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor".
I am looking for some advice after working on the Apple and Microsoft website's trying to find a solution.

Thank You B Noir for the helping hand in reapiring my problem in loading Itunes.
I ended up working with an Apple Service Tech who had me delete all the programs associated with the Apples Itune install. Quicktime, Apple Application Support, Apple Modile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Software Update.
Each of the programs were un-installed with no issues until we started the uninstall of Apple Software Update, which your note indicated could be a cause for the install issue.
Using the Windows program "Fixit" downloaded off the Microsoft website, we determined that the registry keys for this program had become corrupted. We used Fixit filtering down to an install repair module inside if Fixit to remove the damaged program from my PC's registry then Fixit uninstalled the Apple Software Update program.
Once this was done, we were able to successfully instal Itunes using the latest Itunes install packaged found on the Apple website.
    Thanks Again for your advice.

  • Windows xp install issue

Made the switch to MAC from PC but need to install bootcamp for one program I need but it only runs on windows.
I have walked thru the boot camp assistant and partitioned the drive. I have inserted the full-version Windows XP home disk (purchased new to avoid any issues) and the screen has gone black and says, "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" - nothing happens
    help?

If you go to the Boot Camp Support page, it discusses this problem in the FAQ. You should probably remove the Boot Camp partition, recreate it, and be sure to do a full format when you let Windows install onto the C: partition.

  • SATA - WINDOWS XP INSTALL ISSUE

    MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition
    CORE 2 DUO 6400
    Neo HE 430 power supply
Impossible to install Windows XP on my SATA Drive Deskstar T7K250.
Is there a special settings for BIOS ?
Where can I find a driver for XP installation (after F6) ?
Please help a non-english MSI card owner

    [SOLVED]
I am working on this issue since yesterday and now I know : my XP CDROM is damaged.
it is possible to copy it or open files (with an other computer) but just at the beginning of windows install there is a blue screen for a copy error with file xxxx.
If I respond SKIP to the read error for the first 3 files windows continue to install.
I presume I should try to find an other XP disk.

  • I can't eject ("files in use by another application") Windows/Vista Issue?

OK... so in the grand scheme of things, this really is NOT the end of the world... but it sure is super-annoying!! This is my first every Apple product (took a while to get on the bandwagon) and I was hoping for more stability and ease of use... I've called AppleCare several times and they can't help me figure this out... according to them it's a Windows/Vista issue (which DOES seem likely). I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium on a Dell Dimension E521.
Here's how it goes... I plug my iPod in, which opens up iTunes and it syncs fine. I wait until the top of iTunes says "sync complete" and the face of the iPod simply says "Connected". Then I click on the "eject" button next to the iPod listing in iTunes. It pauses for a moment, then I look down and the iPod suddenly has those syncing, circular arrows, moving again and it says "Synchronizing- do not disconnect". And then a few moments later, iTunes gives me a pop-up that says " XXXX ipod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application"
So obviously, something else is connecting to the iPod and preventing me from ejecting it using iTunes, but I have not been able to figure out what it is!
Since it's something on my machine, I have tried the following:
    - shut down AntiVirus (TrendMicro Internet Security 2008)
    - turned off Windows Firewall
    - went through all the programs running in the task bar and turned them off
    - opened up Task Manager and turned EVERYTHING else I could see off
None of the above have made any difference. The workaround that Apple gave me was to go into Computer and then right click on the listed drive and select "Safely Remove" which usually works (the times it doesn't work, it gives a similar message saying the device was being used by another application and can't be removed, try again later). But 90% of the time it works.
I use that or the Eject option when I right click on that drive (not sure the difference, they seem to do the same thing). The workaround works, but I'd sure LOVE to get iTunes to be able to eject my iPod!!
Here's what I've done regarding this iPod and iTunes:
    - reset the iPod
    - restored the iPod
    - uninstalled and re-installed iTunes
    - selected and unselected the various things I'm syncing (currently: Music, TV Shows, Podcasts, Photos) to see if it was one of them causing the issue
NONE of the above has made any difference (and I've done each about 2-3 times, ZERO exaggeration).
I've called into AppleCare about half a dozen times now, hoping to get that one brilliant tech that knows more than the others... but no luck yet... so I thought I'd try this forum to see if one of the brilliant posters here can help me sort this out.
PLEASE- ANY help you can provide (or even just point me in the "right" direction of how to determine this) would be GREATLY appreciated!!
    Thanks so much in advance,
    SC

I am using windows Vista and having this problem also (not exactly, but iTunes gives pop-up that "files are in use"). Acting a suggestion from another answer in this thread, I clicked on Computer and selected eject...windows did warn me that the device was in use, but also gave me a CONTINUE button, which I clicked and it was ejected...had to go back to iTunes and eject the iPod there also, but it did eject

  • How Can I Print from my Microsoft Surface Running Windows 8 RT?

How Can I Print from my Microsoft Surface Running Windows 8 RT?
Most new wireless printers won’t have a problem printing from the Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 RT.  All you should have to do for these printers is tell them to print and they will.  Older wireless, Ethernet, and USB printers might not have an officially supported driver in Windows 8 RT, but there is a way to get the printers working.  There are different requirements depending on how the printer is being connected to the Surface.
Note:  All steps below are only for PhotoSmart, OfficeJet, DeskJet, and other HP Inkjet printers.  These steps are not for Laserjet printers or printers from other manufacturers.  These steps may not work for all Inkjet printers.  If these steps don’t work, try different drivers from the list until you find one that will work (you’ll understand what I mean once you follow the steps below).  If none of the drivers work, your printer will not work with the Surface.
For networked printers (wireless or Ethernet), all you need is either the Surface keyboard, or an external USB keyboard to connect to the Surface.  This just makes anything you have to type easier to type.  You will also need to have the Surface and the printer connected to the same network.
Starting from the right edge, swipe your finger left on the Surface screen to bring up the Charms bar.
    Touch Search.
Below the Search Box, touch Settings.
In the search Box, type Devices and Printers.
    Touch Devices and Printers.
    Touch Add a Printer.
Touch “My printer is not listed”.
Select the TCP/IP option and touch Next.
Enter the printer’s IP address and touch Next.  Note:  You can get this from the printer’s Network Configuration Page, or from your router’s DHCP list.
The Surface will locate the printer and try to install it.  The install will fail and the Surface will ask you what you want to do, search the internet for the driver, or manually install the driver.  Choose to install the driver yourself.
Touch “I want to choose from a list of drivers”.
If no drivers appear in the list, make sure the box next to “Show compatible drivers” is not checked.
Choose HP from the Manufacture list.
Choose DeskJet PCL 3 Class Driver from the Drivers list.  If that driver doesn't work, try using the Photosmart PCL3 driver, or the Officejet PCL 3 driver.  (Thank you JonW for letting me know about these other alternates. )
    Touch Next.
    Touch Finish.
    Test printing.
For USB connected printers, you will need a USB cord to attach the printer to the computer.
Connect the printer to the computer via USB.
Windows will try to find the drivers but will not be able to.
Here Windows may ask you if you want to choose the driver to install.  If it does skip to step 14 below.
Starting from the right edge, swipe your finger left on the Surface screen to bring up the Charms bar.
    Touch Search.
Under the Search box, touch Settings.
In the Search box, type Device Manager.
    Touch Device Manager.
Touch View and select Show Hidden.
Search for the printer in the Device Manager.  It should be under Other Devices with a yellow caution sign beside it.
Select the printer from the list.
    Touch Action.
Touch Update Driver, or Install whichever one it displays.
The Surface will ask you what you want to do, search the internet for the driver, or manually install the driver.

  • Windows 8 Issues

So, I have purchased 'Windows 8 Pro' and am working to get it stable on my W520.
    Specs:
    - Lenovo W520 4270-CTO
    - i7 2720qm
    - Quadro 2000m
    - 16gb G-Skill DDR3
    - 120gb Intel 320 SSD
    Usage:
    - Systems Engineer using various development suites, virtualization technologies (directed i/o is a must), and other processor/ram intensive activities. I am looking to use Hyper-V and do some fairly heavy infrastructure simulations.
    - Occasional games (usually DOTA, Skyrim, etc.) which run at high FPS with gfx settings near maxed (Starcraft 2 is an exception, which doesn't work at all...  Stupid Blizzard...)
    Windows 8 Issues:
    - Cannot boot off install media with VT-d Virtualization Technology enabled. If I re-enable it post-install, sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn't.
    - Blue screens on sleep resume
    - Crashes on various driver installs (random, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't), locks up on boot, then after physical restart, crashes on Automatic Repair before being able to start back up normally.
    - After installing Hyper-V, system crashes, crashes on automatic repair, then is AOK...until it randomly crashes
    What I've Tried:
    - Switching between Integrated/Discrete/Optimus graphics doesn't seem to have made any difference.
    - Disabling VT-d seems to have helped with issues booting, but alas, no big fixes
    - Updated BIOS to 1.38, and 1.39 - both made no difference, still at 1.39.
    - Event log reports kernal power loss and various bugcheck errors but unable to find anything referencing the code provided, nor is there any surefire reported dll or driver which seems to be sticking out.
    - I have attempted 3-4 installs from scratch without resolve.
Other then these issues, if its booted and doesn't crash, the o/s is quite peppy (faster then w7 by a fair degree) and the UltraNav touchpad works quite well with navigating Metro and various Charms.
Have a Mini Series 3 dock which works well (although it has its issues i'll post up elsewhere) and switches between docked and normal usage with ease.
I have since reverted back to Windows 7 until I can find something promising to work with as the lack of support resources is understandably limited at this point.
I cannot develop for Windows 8 or Windows Phone 8 without upgrading or buying a new system. I've been quite happy with my W520 but this is just frustrating and would rather not move to another mftr if I don't have to.
    My question:
    >>> Has anyone successfully installed and run Windows 8 Pro without issue?
    >>> If so, can you please provide me with what releases/versions of the drivers you are running and what BIOS version you are running.
Any suggestions or sources would be immensely helpful in my quest to get W8 somewhat usable on this beast.
    Thanks in advance!

    BSOD on resume:
Happened to a W530 with Crucial m4 mSATA SSD. It turned out that it would happen if the drive is password-protected. After removing the password in BIOS Setup, there's no more BSOD on resume.
So, thusfar, no BSODs on resume. I still have to install the rest of the drivers but at this point, no BSOD since fresh install early this morning. I only have the single Intel 320 SSD in my SATA bay, no mSata drive as of yet. Additionally, I do not have a HDD password. I use the BIOS password w/ fingerprint authentication though.
Post-install, Windows had installed whatever drivers it felt were necessary. After that finished, I had installed Lenovo System Update and went through its update procedure. I elected to install all but:
    - ThinkVantage Active Protection (I have SSD, not necessary)
    - Audio Driver for Windows 832/864 (Sound works, reports as High Definition Audio Device - I am investigating option for Dolby driver as I had setup in Windows 7 as per W520 Sound Enhancement thread)
    - Ricoh Media Card Reader Device (only used a handful of times in the past, will find some cards to test)
    Outstanding issues:
    - Device Manager reports two non-install devices (Base System Device and Unknown Device).
      - Base System Device hardware ID is: NTPNP_PC <-- I don't know what this is, any ideas?
      - Unknown Device hardware ID is: ACPI/LEN   <-- I assume intel chipset since I had already installed Power Management driver via System Update?
    - Update other Windows standard drivers to Lenovo Windows 8 releases
    - Update NVidia Drivers to latest release/verde (maybe depending on video performance)
    - Setup Fingerprint software in Windows 8 to match that of the BIOS as right now, no fingerprint auth in Win8
    - Install Development software, Hyper-v once I have everything else settled
    - Anything else I'm forgetting?
Without jumping the gun, it seems as installing using UEFI fixed a few critical reliability problems (VT-d, boot, etc.). Try that if you're having severe stability issues.

  • Boot Camp Windows install format to NTFS not working.

As a preface I am new to Apple and more complex computer issues in general. With that said I have spent several hours trying to get Windows 8.1 installed from the DVD media to a partition created using Boot Camp Assistant. I have tried several suggestions and looked through many threads, blogs and articles and none seem to have the correct answer. Below are the steps that I have followed and the issue that I run into every time.
    Open Boot Camp Assistant
Select Download the latest Windows support software from Apple
Select Install Windows 7 or later version
Download support software to USB Drive (leave connected)
         Create a Partition (200GB)
Hold Option on Reboot and Select Windows
    Begin the Windows install process
Select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)
Installation asks: Where do you want to install Windows?
Select Drive 0 partition 4: BOOTCAMP
         Error Message Details:
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.
Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS.
Solution I found from many threads is that I need to "Format" the partition. To do so I:
Select Drive 0 Partition 4: BOOTCAMP
         Select Format
Select Drive 0 Partition 4 (No longer titled as BOOTCAMP after the reformat)
              Error Message Details:
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.
I cant seem to find a solution to this. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried removing all other connected drives and devices, and recreating the partition several times with no luck.
    Machine Info:
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
    Mac (27-inch, Late 2013)
Processor: 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I also have VMware Fusion installed on the machine and already used the Windows installation media to create a virtual machine. Is it possible to transfer my virtual machine to a Boot Camp partition? I did a little research and it looks as though thats not possible (at least not easily) but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Sorry for the delayed response. I'm still working to get a solution so any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
The installation media I purchased is for windows 8.1. Is that the issue? Do I need to install 8 not 8.1?

  • SP2010 Foundation Post Install issues on development workstation - Database and Services

Just recently installed SP2010 Foundation for a development workstation.  Platform isWin7 X64 pro, SQL 2008 (Developer edition)
    (1) Looks like search has some configuration issues.  This is in the Windows event log
The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.SharePoint.Search.Administration.SPSearchJobDefinition (ID 38eefca2-d092-47f4-a833-23f8280c5f63) threw an exception. More information is included below.
    The device is not ready.
    (2) In Central Admin > Servers in Farm
    Status - "Upgrade Available",
    (3) In Central Admin > Manage Database Upgrade Status
Sveral of the Datbase(s) mention that upgrade is recommended, but one in particular mentions that the DB is too old?
    WSS_Search_GHHTY
    SPSearchDatabase
Database is too old and upgrade is required
    Huh?
    (4) Looking at my local SQL 2008 instance that SP2010 created, I see several DB's with "Config" in the name along with a guid on the end of the name.  Is the result of re-running the configuration wizard several times while
    I was correcting install issues?

here is question, i am assuming its fresh install not upgrade...
when you run the config wizard( you mentioned many times), which option you select from 2nd try to on ward....cannot disconnect this server from farm?
are you using any script to install ?
I would say run the config wizard without disconnecting and this server will host CA option.
from the central admin > manager server in farm...on top you will see farm version and config database name. note it
from the Manage database Upgrade status page note all the db names
now match it on sql and keep those and all other should gone now as a clean process.

  • Find Windows Install Date

    Hello,
I'm trying to create an inventory report that lists the "Windows Install date" on all my PC's.
Is ZEN capable of generating a report like this? I'm not seeing anything when trying to create a custom report??
    Thank you.
