Survey: Performance Evaluation of ERP-Systems

Hello,
In course of my Bachelor thesis I´m conducting a survey about u201EPerformance evaluation of ERP-Systemsu201D. I would like to ask you to take part in this survey; it will take you only about 10 minutes. The link below will lead you to the survey, which is available in German language only.
http://erp-performance-umfrage.qpk.info
Thank you very much for your time!
Veronika Schreiber (Student at Technische Universität München)

you need to look at the landscape the current system is in.
How many systems are required for the full end to end processes?
User friendly?
What can SAP do that the other systems cant?
Will these things/ processes add value to the business i.e. MSS/ ESS, SRM, FSCM
How much manual work is required for month end?
SAP it can be automated, and the key month end closing should be able to be reduced.
Hope this gives you some ideas of what else to consider.
Please award points if this is useful.

  • Supplier performance evaluation

    Dear Guru's
Can we include supplier survey response and transaction data from SAPSRM/ECC to determine the KPI of suppliers? Can we also include the supplier status like blocked or black listed, expired in the report?
Can we include category of supplier (like small scale industry) in Supplier evaluation report?
You thoughts on it will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ranjan
    Ranjan Sutradhar

    Dear Experts,
As mentioned in the above memo, a supplier can not see its performance evaluation by the buyer in SUS. Could you please share your thoughts on how we can enable our suppliers to see the vendor evaluation report in the SRM system?
Any thoughts or idea will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ranjan

  • How to analyse the main memory usage in SAP ERP systems?

    Dear expert,
I'm doing a research work about analysing the main memory usage in SAP ERP systems.
I would like to find out what is load in buffers and when. That means, which process have the control of these memories and which are always performing something, tables loaded, and so on. Becuase I tried to isolate the space needed by a simple webservice call (create one material) in my test system, but even after a $SYN there are something stored in the buffers. I use a BAPI to avoid the execution of the SAPGUI and its repercussion in the system (I know the BAPI called uses resources too, but when I run this BAPI to get the statistics, it's like ST02, I get different values). Could someone help me or recommend something specific to read? Thanks a lot in advance.

    Dear expert,
Thanks a lot for your answer. The point is now that I want to isolate the memory used by a webservice that I call, I mean, I would like to know how many memory is this webservice using in each buffer. And could you tell me where could I read something about the order that things happen in SAP System when a webservice is called (always memory related), that's which steps are done to store data in buffers and so on. Thanks in advance.

  • Transaction ME23N is not opening in a new session of ERP system

    Hi,
In Solution manager, tcode -> STWB_2 (Test Plan Management - Test Organizer), when i select test plan and click on "Test Packages", then it will take me into the Test plan.
Here I will select one of the packages and click on status analysis, in the Status analysis screen when i try to Execute and anything (for example here Display Purchase Order),
I am getting a message as "Transaction ME23N will be started in a new session in ERP", however no such thing is happening.
All RFCs are working fine, i tested in both Solman and ERP system.
Can anyone help me out in solving this issue.
    Thank you,
    Siv

    Hi
Do you have an RFC with current user settings with Trusted one.
also do your user id has S_RFC authorization object so that you can do remote logon.
goto sm59 in solman and choose the RFC pointing towards ECC etc and perform remote logon
Hope it helps and solv ur problem

  • RFC lookup to PI system or other ERP system.Which is better?

    Hello experts,
I have a scenario[RFC>PI(RFCLOOKUP,SOAP LOOKUP)->SOAP] where I have to  fetch or update  the data in the table using RFC lookup in the mapping.
To store or update  the data ,I have created a table in PI system and through RFC LOOKUP I am fetching the data in the message mapping.
Some PI developers prefers not to create this elements in the PI system  and suggested a way to create them in the ERP.
I wanted to crosscheck with you all  whether Lookup to PI system is better or to ERP system in terms of  performance, security and std maintenance.
-Conceptually, they see PI as a communication tool, not the best option for storing data, which is an ERP function.
some prefer  ERP option  to Simplify the upgrade / system patching processes. As No Z-Objects makes the checking process much easier and there is no need to adapt those objects to the new release environment.
    I appreciate your valuable suggestions.

    Hello Souvik,
Thank you so much for your reply.
But in my case the RFC lookup will be executed twice because the authorization data(token ans sign values which is stored in PI) is valid for 12 hours.
if I find that these data is expired ,I have to do a soap lookup to get these details from a webservice and also have to update the same in the PI table using RFC lookup. All these activities are done in message mapping.
so first RFC LOOKUP is used  to fetch the data and if expired,I get these details from a webservice and update(executing second time RFC LOOKUP) in PI table ,so that next time when request comes ,I will fetch these details from PI table instead from webservice to send message  to the receiver.
same functionality is required for 4-5 scenarios, all acessing the same PI table.
So Kindly advice considering these situation, will the performance, security, maintenance  be good when doing RFC lookup to other ERP instead of doing RFC lookup to PI system .
    Kind Regards,
    Kubra.

  • Oracle Linux 6 and Oracle DB for ERP System

    All,
I have a few questions about using Oracle Linux 6 and the Oracle Database for our ERP Server. We are using a System that run off of Appache httpd and Tomcat and connects to an Oracle Database. We currently are running as a hardware installed server, with Oracle Linux 5 and 10gR2. We are looking to migrate to a Virtual environment as we run VMWare for all our other Servers and services. I have started the install of a development/test system. I wanted to install Oracle Enterprise Linux 6 x86_64 along with either 10gR2 or 11gR2. I noticed that 10gR2 was not certified on OEL6 hence why the thought of moving to 11gR2. The one issue I have is the ERP system is not a x86_64 system is there any way of running 32 bit apps on a 64bit OEL install? I would need to compile a few small 32bit C code programs so would need 32bit libs to compile against. Any support would be greatly appreciated. I know that OEL has an i386 install but I also know that the x86_64 has more support for Oracle DB.
    P.S.
Our ERP System is programmed via a small company that does not certify anything. They have taken the approach if it works it works (not happy with this but it is what it is). So the main issue is I need to get Appache Httpd, Tomcat running along with ability to compile a few small 32bit apps.

x86-64 is an extension of the x86 32-bit CISC instruction set. The 64-bit extension provides support for long mode to address larger virtual and physical address spaces.
You can generally run 32-bit applications on a x86_64 bit CPU and a x86_64 kernel, provided you have the appropriate i386 libraries installed. When you install Oracle 11gR2 11.2.0.1 for x86_64, appropriate i386 libraries are a prerequisite.
Since x86 on a x86_64 CPU is still hardware, there will be no performance penalty to run 32-bit application. Btw, you cannot run 64-bit applications using a i386 kernel. The only exception I know is Mac OS X.

  • Database Performance Evaluation Benchmarking Tuning

Does anyone by chance have any articles or websites that deal with Oracle (or generic) database performance evaluation, benchmarking, and/or tuning for a STANDALONE PC database installation? I have Oracle 10g installed on my personal machine and I want to find some information that will help me place the performance evaluation into a more professinal context. Any links relating to this would be very appreciated.
    regards,
    John

Why do you expect there to be a difference in evaluating performance for a standalone PC database installation vs. a server database installation? Other than the fact that, presumably, you won't find network events in the top wait events, I'm hard-pressed to think of any differences.
You would evaluate performance and tune the system the same way on a standalone database as on a database on a server box-- you would figure out what operations are important, figure out how quickly those operations need to run, figure out which of the important operations are running slowly, figure out what those operations are spending time doing, and then figure out how to reduce the runtime. Of course, each of those steps can potentially be rather involved. There are plenty of articles and books on performance tuning-- Oracle has a few manuals, Jonathan Lewis's book on the cost based optimizer is excellent, Cary Millsap's optimization book is top flight, etc.
As for benchmarking, unless the intention is to run something like the TPC benchmark on your desktop, which would seem odd, your benchmark is generally closely tied to your application-- i.e. figuring out how quickly the system performs a particular business operation. Generic benchmarks like TPC tend not to be particularly useful in the real world because they are unlikely to mimic your real workload.

  • Public IP address for ERP system

    Hi,
A SAP BC consultant gives me a small system landscape for ERP 6.0 and its info. as following:
      a. 1 Sol Man system, 1 ERP system for DEV, 1 ERP system for PRO.
      b. The Sol Man Server is for the ENTIRE SAP TECHNICAL LANDSCAPE in the single company.
      c. The entire SAP Landscape needs to be on a different SUBNET on a different Gigabit switch for optimum performance. The broadcast between 2 subnets will be handled via a router.
      d. A router with VPN Capabilities and 2-3 static public IP addresses (THIS IS A MUST).
I don't know why I need 2-3 static public IP addresses if I don't public anything to Internet. Somebody tell me why?
    Thanks,

  • PI Integration between SAP ERP system and Cloud for Customer

    Hi,
We have set up integration between Cloud for Customer tenant and our SAP ERP system via PI.
For performing initial load, when we try to activate change pointers for Message types in the SALE transaction, we don't find the MATMAS_CFS and DEBMAS_CFS in the ERP system(IDES ECC 6.0 EhP6).
CODERINT 600(SP1 &2) are installed and BC set COD_BYD_ERP_INT is activated in the system.
Could anyone let us know what are we missing here, so that we can get the message types.
Also we tried using Message type MATMAS for sending a message from ERP to Cloud for Customer. In PI message monitoring, the status shows as 'Processed successfully', however we do not find the message in Business Communication Monitoring in the Cloud system. neither do we see the Business Object created for that Material master.
Please let me know how to debug such a scenario.

  • Slow in our ERP system ?

We’ve been have issues where users complain that from time to time that the ERP system (That uses our Oracle 9i db) is running slow..) now I don’t think its the oracle Shared Pool (SGA) that causing the problem, but could it be the (PGA)..
Now I’ve check the PGA advise (Aggregate Target Advise) button that the percentage is @ 97.88 with 2450mb, it seems that assign more memory wont make a blind bit of difference..
Any help would be great ..

Are you keeping monitoring statistics? I would recommend starting with statspack. There is a wealth of information in there that can help you with performance issues.

  • Risk Analysis for Third party ERP system

We want to perform offline risk analysis for third party ERP(SRM) system.... We have already GRC system installed with Global rule set for SAP ERP & want to have another ruleset for offline risk analysis.
Just would like to have a confirmation for below steps & estimated time for this.
Activities Need to be performed from Our side(Client) :-
    1) Send the RAR format for Users/Roles/Actions & Permissions.
    2) Cross Verify the format.
    3) Create the connector for stored files.
    4) Upload the files via Data Extraction utility.
    5) Generate the ruleset for SRM(third party).
    6) Schedule the various background jobs.
Activities Need to be Performed from Third Party - HUBWOO(Owns SRM ERP system) :-
    1) Convert users/action/roles and permissions files to RAR format.
Activities need to be Performed  from SAP :-
    1) Provide the ruleset for HUBWOO SRM system.
Please let me know if I missed any step above & estimated time to complete from our end & did anyone has come across ruleset for HUBWOO system..?
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Thanks all for your reply,
Alpesh, but still I have small concern here, when SAP provide the ruleset files, it also provides for Oracle, People soft & JDE ERP.
Though these are also third party ERP's for SAP...?
Does it mean that we can'task for ruleset for other third party ERP from SAP...? or does SAP Charge something for it..?
    Thanks
