Survey Permissions - Not allowing submission
I have created a survey that the Sharepoint Admin group can submit without any issues.
Our "normal user" groups are all specifically set to "Contribute" for the survey (have "Read" on the remainder of the site). Using one of the "normal user" logins, the option for "Respond to this Survey" is available, and the users can actually get into and fill in all the fields. However, when clicking "Submit", they get an access denied message.
From what I've been able to find in FAQs, online, etc, it seems the common mistake is putting normal users as "Read" and not "Contribute", but apparently I'm missing something else...any ideas?
Hi,
To submit a survey, the user should have at least the following permissions:
- Add Items
- Edit Items (for Branching Logic in the survey)
- View Items
- View Pages
- Open
If you set “None” under Edit access: Specify which responses users can edit, it would revoke “Edit Items” right for an user which in turn would result into error message.
So please check the following settings:
1. Open the surveys, click settings-survey settings, click advanced settings,
2. Make sure Edit Access enable “Only their own” instead of “None”.
3. Check the effect.
Hope this helps.

SECURITY: permissions not allowed with ExecuteWithParams action
Hello,
I followed Frank Nimphius guide to get a secured web application based on adf bc
and it seems to work ! (thank you Frank)
i'm using a custom login module with a database containing users and roles. i can authenticate and be authorized for all actions that are necessary except for one (executewithparams) which is used on many pages, in spite of permissions "update" put on all the pagedef components.
not using this action would make the application complety unusable.
I've read that it is a bug but how can i fix it without recoding the function, have i to wait Jdev11 (we are going to deploy soon) and if i must recode this function how can i do?
thanks for your help
MathieuHi Guys,
I think I am facing the same problem, and I am using the latest JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0.
My page is using an iterator based on the ExecuteWithParams method of a ViewObject.
The page works correctly until I apply security. Than I get "no rows yet" in my ADF tables. I believe I set all the permissions possible, I am setting them using the Edit Authorization wizard, also manually editing the system-jazn-data.xml, using wildcards. Of course other tables based on View objects are working.
This is kind of urgent, a show stopper for a demo application.
Thanks,

Polkit permissions not allowing logout or shutdown
I'm new to Arch Linux from Gentoo. Since the switch I haven't been able to log out or shutdown. My groups are:
[z@arch ~]$ groups
lp wheel video audio optical floppy storage power users zachary
My .xinitrc runs
LANG="ja_JP.UTF-8" LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8" exec ck-launch-session startxfce4
In Gentoo I used some program called polkit-gnome or something to edit permissions. Is there another way to do this? I can't find it in Arch. Would appreciate any help I can get :3 Otherwise the transition has gone extremely well.Meeeeh. I checked my error output when running startx and it was this ->

FTP file adapter: file access permissions do not allow the specified action
Hi,
I have the File to JDBC scenario. The file is extracted in AL11 folder of the Sending (BW) system.
The folder is FTP enabled and the Unix admin says he has given full authorization to both the folder and ftp user.
But in the File CC I get the following error "Could not process due to error: com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 TSMSACAIX5350.tar.gz: The file access permissions do not allow the specified action."
Can some one advice what is wrong. Im pretty much sure it has to be a problem with the UNIX permission. But the unix admin person says he has given a full permission.
I need to know what permissions needs to be given?? Is there different permissions for application level and OS level??
Pls advice
Thanks

In CC you set ON the delete mode, after processing file? Maybe, the file have read only permission.... -
ERROR: policy does not allow granting permissions at this level outlook
Hi All,
Our users are attempting to send sharing requests to each other via Right Click Calendar | Share | Share Calendar
Availabilty only works fine but Limited and Full Access fails with the error: policy does not allow granting permissions at this level.
I can see that the default sharing policy is set for availabilty only so I assume I need to add our internal SMTP addresses to the sharing policy with increased right's.
But... From our testing in our LAB we found that if the exchange org does not have a connection to the federation setup it works fine straigh out of the box.
Does this sound right or is my LAB just messing with me?
Cheers

DieterTry restarting your Mac, then reseting the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

Allow user to take survey multiple times, but do not allow the same response
I have a requirement to allow users to take a survey multiple times, however, the answers to the survey can not be the same.
So when a user takes the survey the first time they can take a second and a third but not have the same response.
Using SharePoint 2007

Some workstations not allowing Adobe Bridge CS3 application launch
Hi all.
I'm pretty new at helping manage a MIDI/art lab at a high school campus (not new to Macs, but new to this issue).
We have a student login for an art class where students should have complete access to the Adobe CS3 suite of applications. The account is logging in on a server, running apps on the local hard drives, and an entire class of students all log in at once. We've tried to keep all the iMacs current in terms of Adobe updates and other software updates.
The problem is this: there are four iMacs which - in spite of all updates being equal, and the fact that all users are logging into a network account (thus all having the same set of rules, permissions, and restrictions) - fail to allow students to use Adobe Bridge. At these four stations, launching Bridge gets this error:
+*The Application "Bridge CS3" is not allowed.*+
+"Bridge CS3"is not on the approved list of applications. Contact the person who set up your account for more information.+
We've tried several things, including running Adobe updater (again), Apple software update, and resetting/trashing Bridge's prefs.
Again, every user should be experiencing the same permissions and restrictions, and this issue seems to be tied to hardware as it only applies on four of the iMacs. Logging in as an administrator or a local account with full permission allows clear access to Bridge. However, we need the Art Class account to work on all our stations as students use Bridge regularly for class.
Any input and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
(By the way, these are Intel iMacs running, I would presume, Snow Leopard. The model and OS info shown below are my machine, not the lab stations.)Curt Y. Thank you for your answer.
It was only Bridge who was crashing. It failed to load and Windows was giving an error message.
I tried your suggestion, and resetting all options in the reset window it now loads. It was as simple as that. -
Set The Secured Files, Not allow printing and saving to another location
Dear Sir / Madam,
Please help...
Possible to set the security permission for share files, not allow end users to printing and saving a PDF to another location.
Thanks,
Alex TaiHi Alex,
Possible to set the security permission for share files, not allow end users to printing and saving a PDF to another location.
Based on my tests, users can save the document with only Read permission, which is by design. If you don’t want users to print files, please do not give the print permissions on printers.
Best Regards,
Amy

My Safari will not allow me to open my Google calendar with Google Apps. I have to open my email with the older version of Google Apps. This happened after I installed 5.1.4. I tried to use the fix of changing to 64 bit by unchecking the 32 bit box but that didnt help.
I assume that there are legal restrictions on the way in which iTunes can get artwork automatically from any source apart from the iTunes Store (which is what the right-click > Get Album Artwork function uses). For example, even though the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to match CDs and retrieve metadata (artist, album, track titles, etc.) also has artwork functions, iTunes does not make use of these.
For manual addition of artwork, there are three cases where the image you select may not be correctly embedded in your media files:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files. To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties. On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white. Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected. Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12). See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again. -

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -
I have a Mac OS 10.6.8 server in my classroom that I have networked to student accounts on the iMacs in the room. How do I create a folder that allows studnts to place their finished assignments in it, but does not allow them to go in and remove anything from that folder?
You want a "Drop Box" style folder. You should be able to achieve this by creating a folder and giving it permissions similar to the "Drop Box" folder in your users Public Folder (i.e. write only permissions.)

=========================================================================Do we have to make any changes on other config files except the imta.cnf and mappings file for inbound and outbound..
thanks for any help
Edited by: prasad0_0 on Jul 8, 2008 4:58 AMi have already setup the messaging server 6 months back.. followed the same procedure to route mails to a gateway..
made changes to the imta.cnf for outbound mail flow to the tcp_local and mappings file to accept inbound mail flow from the gateway. Its working perfectly on the older setup, but this now, have issues with new setup.
here is the imta.cnf file..

Any ideas????I found a similar problem and the instructions said to check a permission box in the "Get Info" tab.
This applies only when the Library is on an external drive. You cannot ignore permissions on the system drive.
I was deleting files trying to make space on my hard drive
What were you deleting?
and noticed as I was deleting files more data was being added to the iPhoto Library.
Hard to see how deleting files can add data to the iPhoto Library. Can you explain why you thought this?
I would really like to keep these pictures.
Make a back up now.
Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
